I agree that the risk vs reward pendulum is pretty one sided.
I haven’t bothered doing the dungeon path either since there isn’t really a point.
Tossed the .dat file on my storage drive so I might play again in a few months.
Too bad because the game has a ton of potential but just doesn’t keep me interested like GW1 did.
There are tons of things that GW2 did right but also too many they did wrong.
That pendulum is also one sided

Have fun doing Tequatl with little to noone left.
Your answer is if you dont like it gtfo. That is a terrible attitude.
Constructive criticism is what ALL games need in order to get better.
I find the game in it’s current state pretty boring since most post 80 content is time gated. That is my opinion. Yours is that I should just uninstall and be happy with what I got.
I really do hope you enjoy your peace and quiet when you hear crickets in LA since everyone will have left to bigger and better things.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I’m glad you’re happy, but I think the exact opposite.
…absolutely boring
Yet you are your ilk still persist on being involved with a game that you apparently can’t stand.
It’s the equivalent of watch a popular TV series every week and then go up onto their fan sites to tell them how bad it is every week.
Because there are no other MMOs out there to play.
When Black Desert or maybe ESO then I will be gone for sure.
We remain because we waited 6 years and HOPE for the game to improve.
The game has soooo much potential but is falling far far short.

Daily Laurels.
Daily World Bosses
Daily Dungeons
Daily Crafting
When do I get to play the way I want to play?
GW2 is just not very fun anymore and feels like chores to do before mom gets home and gives you heck.
There is very little engaging content that is “fun”. I enjoyed almost 10k hours of GW1 but at about 1500 hrs in GW2 I find myself logging in less and less.
I am pretty sure that I am not alone in feeling that way as well
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
All of the sets are nasty and probably the worst looking armor sets in the game imo.
I will not craft them just like I haven’t crafted any ascended weapons.
Gear treadmill is in full force now.
I am thinking that they made them hideous on purpose so that people would purchase transmutation stones with gems.
Playing less and less and looking for new games to invest in….

What yawa and Solar said are 100% correct.
I just don’t think that we will ever see any performance based improvements over the games lifespan.
The devs have told us that we are going to get qol improvements for performance in the next little while but I have seen neither hide nor hair of that.
I also don’t think that they are capable of fixing the issue. The current engine cannot support the content being delivered.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932

Your best bet with AMD cpus is to overclock them as much as you can safely.
There will never be optimization for AMD specific cpu’s. They just have bad single thread performance.

I had some issues during the Teq event of massive micro stuttering followed by client crash.
Generally I will reboot my machine about every 6 hours or so to fix that up. I am not sure and I have no proof but it does certainly “feel” like a memory leak.
I haven’t bothered to look at the log files to see if it is a OOM or not but I will if there is another crash.
I use a system managed page file and windows does the trick ok. I am not overly concerned about page file size on my OS SSD really.
My OC is rock stable and I have to use a high voltage for my moderate oc
Maybe a dev could shed some light on this?
I also run everything high/ultra with supersampling, no reflections no fxaa(blech SweetFX ftw) and highest/highest.
I have never seen GW2 use more than 1.4gb of VRam but I have seen it use close to 3gb of Ram.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
I prefer an expansion….oh ya that isn’t going to happen.

AM3 Motherboards are still fairly antiquated to upgrade the CPU unless under a severe budget.
Most people on the forums would recommend an i7 haswell 4650k cpu with an aftermarket cooler for overclocking.
The optimization of GW2 is terribad and needs med/high CPU power to run well.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
Don’t worry you will be able to do that new dungeon path only once per day.

intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
What Behellagh said is correct. Most players not only don’t have 8 or more core systems but it would be very difficult to code the game to use those cores.
Better optimization was promised by the devs and hopefully by the end of the month we will start to see some results.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
i7 3770k @ 4.6 GHz watercooled, 16gb 2133 ram, GTX 275.
Everything high except reflections, shadows, and shaders. They are on medium.
Never dip below 60 even in huge zergs. Realistically I stay 70-80.
Sounds like you guys have some unstable overclocks. Try running prime95 for 24 hours and verifying that you haven’t toasted your CPU or that it is getting enough voltage.
If you aren’t running at least 1.31v around 4.5 ghz, you are doing it wrong. Autoset will not work either. An ivy bridge I7 or I5 will NOT budge in zergs. Period. This is provided that you are overclocked correctly.
System is very very stable. I have seen ivys run lower than 1.31v stable as well although I didn’t get a magic chip
Change your culling settings to highest/highest and see how that goes for ya
GPU doesn’t really matter all that much it is the CPU threads.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
The game uses 3-4 heavy threads. Of those 3-4 threads there is one main thread that can be bogged down.
The ideal PC for GW2 is a 6ghz Quad Core CPU. There have been numerous posts on the tech support forum regarding this matter.
Most posters have commented that “you needz better hardwarez”.
There is currently NO hardware on the planet(aside from some liquid nitrogen systems but that would be impractical) that can run GW2 at 60fps during massive zergs.
You can have a 4Ghz 1200 core CPU and it wouldn’t matter. GW2 requires raw clocks from a single thread in order to run well during zergs.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
+1 to everything there.
We were promised an update from the devs regarding a performance patch and so far I have seen 0 impact if it was included into the Teq patch.Don’t make stuff up to promote your false opinion. We were never promised a specific update for performance. What we were promised was that they are constantly looking for ways to improve performance.
Search the forums and ye shall find.

In addition to Colin’s response:
As Colin mentioned we have dedicated resources to addressing performance (server and client side). We formed a small team back in Spring to get the ball rolling. Recently we’ve been upping our resources and have made policies company-wide to ensure our releases don’t have negative effects on the performance of the game. You’ll start noticing, as early as the release in 2 weeks, that we’re improving performance of the game.
Optimizing is an extremely dangerous thing to do, especially to a Live game. We can’t just push out these optimizations as we go, as much as we’d like to. They go through a testing cycle of a minimum of 6 weeks to ensure they don’t have a negative impact on the game. We have a great group of people in QA that are staying on top of reports on the forums as well as doing dedicated performance testing across the game while putting together information for our Engineers to address issues as they pop up.
As I mentioned above, the first round of noticeable improvements should be rolling out in a couple weeks. From then on, I hope to have some sort of noticeable gain every 4 – 6 weeks. I hope to have more information on this in the near future.

Having to do this content by being in a specific guild for the sole purpose of killing teq, having to guest to low pop servers and specific overflows shows how broken the encounter is in regards to open world.

Well thought out and I agree 100% with every point.
I love difficult challenging content as long as the player has the ability to coordinate and defeat the challenge. Having Teq in the open world was a really bad idea and he/it should be in an instance imo.

Stop playing on machines from the late 90s. A 3rd gen intel i5 and a GTX 640 GPU will run Tequatl on max settings without breaking a sweat. The problem isn’t the servers or even the engine. It’s YOUR machine.

My system specs are in my sig.
I get 20fps in zergs and high pop events. It is NOT our systems, it is the crappy engine that the game is built around.

Dungeons, once per day
Meta Events, once per day when the timer and overflows allow you
Crafting Ascended, once per day
Daily is daily :P
This WHOLE game is time gated.
Was it the intent of the designers to make the game “play it your way, but only when we tell you”?
GW1 had little to no time gated content and this made people happy.
People now are sitting in LA, waiting for the next Meta(after doing their daily runs).
Am I the only one that feels this way?

What this game needs is more “Organisation tools”. The LFG tool will be a good start. But they should expand on the commander stuff. The only problem with this fight is getting everyone organised. Atm it’s unthinkable doing it without TS.
Organisation tools will need to be implemented ingame if they plan on adding more and more challenging content. WvW needed these tools at release.
I agree 100%.
There really is 0 way that you can do it in an unorganized overflow where people are popping in and out of the zone, being afk or trolling the turrets just for fun.
This should either be in an instanced raid or allow us to have the ability to organize better.
You do need TS or a similar program to do him which is kinda against the open world policy of dragon metas.
That being said, I love the encounter and when we beat him on BG for the world 1st it was the best feeling that I have had in the game. That feeling where you really tried hard to complete a task and finally accomplish it. There was nothing in the game that could really provide that before.
I think the encounter should stay the same but either implement a means of coordination, toss it into an instance, or something similar that I cannot think of.
To the OP. I want them to redo the bosses with the caveat that we also have the tools to organize ourselves to do the content.
I for one will not even attempt to do it unless I am in the main server and we are all on TS etc.
