Maybe we need two concurrent tournaments with different scoring systems. Kind of like playing in the English premier league and FA cup at the same time.
One based on points and the other a knockout.
You could also incorporate the 1v1v1 aspect where one match up is your points competitor and the other is your knockout competitor. Even if you lose to one you still care about the other.

At least there are -some- viable, realistic sized ones. Cobalt and Ebonblade and Kymswarden are the best.
I’ve also done a lot of fencing, when much younger, as well as reeanactment from Vikings to Victorians and beyond. Any time a game offers me armor and weapons that actually make sense, I’m full of joy.
If I ever EVER do a legendary, it sure won’t be one of those bizarro giant slabs that are the GW2 greatswords.

Presumably you have data to back up this “fact”?
Obviously I don’t but the gem store items available during LS were only available to a limited amount of players, for a limited amount of time.
Those items could/should have been available to any player when they have the time to play that content.

Wait, do you seriously request that they will put the entire game on hold, just because they didn´t know you weren´t playing? And that way you want them to work against a core part of their philosophy, which they used to advertise the game with?
They told all of you that it was a living, changing world. And even if i missed huge parts of the story as well, they listened to players like us and introduced ways of discovering that part of story and lore as well.
And honestly, how strange would it be if we could walk into Kessex Hills these days and still enter the tower of nightmares? Scarlet´s dead, but nevermind, here you go and she´ll trick you once again?There´s no way they will implement an expansion anywhere soon. Simply because it would make no sense for them to launch an expansion, while a large amount of chinese players haven´t gone through the core game. And they wouldn´t want to be called a discriminating company for launching content only in the EU and NA. Excluding the chinese people now could really break their necks over there.
Who is suggesting they put the game on hold? I’m saying that rather than do updates every two weeks for 6 months they should have released 2-3 new zones that people could have either played at release or any time in the future.

1v1 wvw could actually be a really good idea…think about 1v1 matches on a promotion/relegation system. It would lead to some really even fights.

I thought stacks from the higher condition damage players override that of weaker players, once you hit the cap. So it is always worth taking one condition player, but nothing more.

The meta needs some time to settle. People are discovering new damage combos and in time counters will be found for those as well.

I only played for a bit last night but it seemed to me that pets would use their f2 where ever they are standing, even if they are not in range of the target.
And I though previously that the would move themselves within the skill range first.

Intelligence is great on the great sword for the 5/2/3 combo. But the crit damage nerf has me doubting power in general.

I killed a level 80 Zerker Thief with Dark Pact, Reaper’s Touch, and 1 Life Blast.
You can proc Sigil of Air, swap weaps, then immediately proc Sigil of Fire. And get the 50% endurance from Sigil of Energy.
I’m so totally not concerned about the changes right now. I lost 30% off of my critical damage as well, but if it’s adding any additional attacks to the fight, I’m not noticing.
I’m holding my breath till I see how the sigil situation plays out.
The Ranger forum are already referring to this as “the sigil meta”.
My guess is a lot of the damage can be made up elsewhere.

The item can still get destroyed, and give no materials, but the upgrade should be accessible.

One of the earliest ideas thrown around was “server specific borderlands”, in keeping with the theme of the server. It never happened.
I think it never happened because of the balance argument.
But after 18 months it should be painfully clear that a few differences in terrain would be nothing compared to coverage when it comes to balance.

I’ve found mainhand axe the quickest weapon for clearing WvW camps with a power build.
And that is because it doesn’t require line of sight for its AOE (so its better than bows), and the range means you stay away from the guard’s blinds (so its better than swords).
You could arguably call camps a “better designed PvE encounter” though…

Balance should mean that every class has a niche role, and that niche is required in all forms of combat be it PvP, PvE or WvW.
Given that there are 8 classes that is probably too many mechanics to create/manage, so some classes should simply perform the same role as well as another class does.
For PvE specifically, the enemy encounters should require all of the said niches/mechanics in order to be completed (starting to sound like a trinity…). That is not the case at the moment, as the only thing required is direct damage and one condition class.

Speaking from a power ranger’s perspective, I can easily deal with conditions. In a single build I run:

Healing Spring
Melandru Runes

I see this actually as evidence of balance. You specced a bit more into dealing with conditions, so you have to lose out somewhere. In your case, it was damage that suffered. You still do all right against everyone else, but high armor targets are a weakness for you.
Every build has, and should have, weaknesses (though some have more than others).
Yeh that’s a fair point. I guess is there anyone in this scenario who is not balanced – are their classes who cant kill anyone if they run Melandru+Lemongrass…?

One issue I have with conditions is that there are fewer ways to defend against it than direct damage. Both Vitality and toughness help mitigate direct damage, while only Vitality helps against condition damage. Sure, you can get -% condition duration food, but oftentimes, the enemy is running +% condition duration runes and food, while with direct damage, one could use protection and weakness to defend themselves, Although vulnerability and might could overcome these two active defenses, it is not easy to do, and you still have both toughness and vitality passively defending you. Also, many would not consider it sensible to run Melandru’s and -% condition duration food because you lose too much damage potential by doing this (this is true for both condition and power builds, though certain builds still benefit more from -% condition duration than additional power). One could also say it is not sensible to go out of your way to get weakness or protection, but even without those, you still have two built in stats (vitality and toughness) to keep you safe from power-based damage, aside from only vitality protecting you from condition-based damage. Also, every character has an option of several built in heal skills. Among those, only one, for the most part, will remove conditions. On the other hand, almost all heal skills (except the really bad ones) can take care of power-based damage without the fear of the healing being completely negated in a few seconds (unless fighting outnumbered, or against a full zerk build). I personally think the way toughness and vitality works needs to be improved so that it actually has meaning in PvE and can more reliably fend off conditions. In addition, while I find every class to have many options to deal with power based damage without too much sacrifice (except for eles, who only have a few, but they’re too busy traiting to counter conditions to make use of most of them), a character may have to invest into traitlines, runes, and/or food that only lowers their damage, which hinders them further when trying out-damaging the common tanky condition builds (excluding warriors, who are blessed with cleansing ire to deal with all damage). Not to say conditions are broken, though. I think with enough experience, one could learn to beat any foe condition or power, as long as they have a few defensive tools to use against both.

Most full Zerk ranger builds run signets and are extremely gimmicky and spammy. I wouldn’t recommend them whatsoever however if your really want to play a power build (you will struggle vs high ranks) then try this.
This build is hard to recreate in PvP so I chose the Valkyrie amulet but the build has decent healing/condi cleanse and more importantly high armor and power. It builds crit damage over crit chance because of Moment of Clarity and Sigil of intelligence. You can play defensively and then interrupt them with great sword, then switch and use axe 4 which will hit twice and pull them. Moment of Clarity gives +150% to the first hit and intelligence, from my testing (but I may get lucky and be wrong) effects both hits.
But don’t get to down if you can’t play amazingly as it is a ranger power build.
I like this concept. I haven’t tried high crit damage with low precision before. Would you mind posting your WvW version of it?
