You don’t need stealth to use it effectively. None at all.
Maybe if players followed suit they could learn how thieves work and perhaps have a much easier time playing? Cuz I havn’t been beaten by another thief yet.

Maybe a new server should be introduced called ’Zerker’s Square’, where all gear is zerker gear.
Don’t see why there should be a special ‘zerker LFG tool’. If you use LFG/search PUGs you will always get a random player. Even if he has zerker gear he can still die every fight. So make a guild or add people to friends list to get a nice group of players who you can zerk dungeons with…
Don’t see how a stat filter is gonna help either, you can equip zerker gear during LFG and then equip different armor in the dungeon… only leads to more trolling and qq (like already people join Arah at end boss and then kick the opener to waste the effort).
Yes, burst builds with Macro are a meta. Not really new, just more powerful due to power creep. Adding Ascended gear and Applied Strength boosted burst builds a bit too high. The dev’s know it that’s why the crit nerf is incoming.
So all us without power creeped gear/stacks are pretty much devoid of roaming till the proper nerfs are here… meh

This actually works…. make your dodge to the SIDE. If you dodge towards her (into the control room or w/e it is) you will be automatically pushed back and fail and get blasted etc.

What you stated is called a maturing group of player characters and is natural progression. With the 3 new masteries being released you will see even more rank based bonuses. All quality MMOs have player progression and Anet is doing them bit by bit.
Power is not the problem. The problem is how condition damage is calculated.
Also a re-work of the way damage is done requires a re-work of the entire system.
Try to get atleast rank 115 and get fortitude first. It is very beneficial in WvW
You should be able to do PvP without grinding to be on par with current players. These buffs are plain power creep and I wouldn’t defend it by calling them character progression. It’s just lame because an enemy with +250 vitality and +100 power has a clear advantage. But yes, Wvw is PvE right, so grind is justified

I’ve been putting up my LFG: ‘Buying Arah p… 23 silver & 3x princess miya’s wig" for a while, but noone wants to help me out
Anyway, I don’t see a problem. They provide a service for people who don’t want to play through the content for whatever reason. Happens quite often on long or difficult things (like Arah, although it’s not bad at all once you know how to do it). Your gain their loss.
Things like this will always occur, even GW1 you had droks run, underworld spider pet run, powerlevelling, doing missions and more – people selling them for gold. Personally I did a lot of droks run on my ranger back in the day, people were always happy to get there and me having fun and earning a few extra coins too. I bet it’s the same for these guys, they solo/duo Arah for fun and then get some extra profit from it, keep it up
Ok I had the setup mainhand sword + hydromancy and off-hand dagger + energy. Now a sigil on swap on both weapons doesn’t work. Only the main weapon gets triggered, however the off-hand sigil somehow bugs out the cooldown of the main one.
When having only 1 on swap sigil on each weapon set there is no problem. But with 2 on swap sigils on 1 weapon set things get weird. The off-hand effect never triggers but sometimes the mainhand effect also doesn’t trigger.
I always had the idea that this (and possible other ‘on swap’ sigils) didn’t always trigger properly.
Today I’ve done some testing. It turns out, the sigil does not trigger if you have not been in combat for over ~5 seconds. So lets say you go in battle, switch to weapon set with Hydromancer sigil,after 4 seconds, but the effect doesn’t trigger.
Haven’t tested similar sigils yet, but I do not think this one is working as intented

Implementing stealth was one of the biggest design flaws of GW2 for pvp.
There will always be issues with it because it’s such a bad mechanic.
Heartseeker isn’t the problem. Too much stealth spam makes it too easy for thief to run full damage build. Using skill 1 in stealth and not landing it should reveal or have a few sec cooldown so they can’t be spammed. Also too much power creep lameness by adding guard leech and food buffs in wvw (goes for all classes).
Asura. They have the most awesome animations especially on sword and dagger skills. Found out when doing the Thaumanova fractal… wish I could change my human
1. Too much particle effects especially when more than 1v1, can’t see what is happening
2. Too much lame mechanics like downed state, stealth and clone spam
3. Conquest becomes lackluster quickly
I loved pvp in gw1, but here I just can’t seem to get into it. Though playing with friends can be fun, it still feels like I’m in ‘team arenas’ from gw1, a place to practice your pvp. I don’t feel like I’m in an important match like it was in guild battles or hall of heroes.
Maybe they could add some new ones that work properly because there is no fix yet for the current pets.
Crippling Talon, Throw Torch, Winter’s Bite get ‘obstructed’ many times even when the only thing between the ranger and the target is just plain air.
Yes they are, now roll a mesmer or warrior and faceroll everything.
I’m talking about pets like wolf and hyena, who you wanna swap and let them use f2 right away.
The funny thing is I cannot recall having such problems with it some time ago. I haven’t played my ranger very much in the past few months, but it used to be a lot ‘better’ (They would only go on cd if you spammed f2 after switching, and it would work in over 50% of cases). Now it even goes on cd when you wait for 3s after switch and you hit f2 only once :/

When I switch pets and use f2 it immediatly goes on 3s cooldown. Even when waiting for 2-3 secs after switch is still does the cooldown. After 10 seconds or more the pet finally attempts to use f2 skill – then he dies or gets knocked back and the fun starts again

I think it’s a decent reward for the achievment hunter bandwagoners who played for 3 days to get their AP and loot.
Crap reward for players who actively contributed to their server for 7 weeks.
And yes /laugh at people who transferred hoping to get big rewards, the amount of gems they had to spend to get here and then they get some rares n greens… ouch
I think the problem is (for people that played for 7 weeks), that they expect to get reward for 7 weeks of active playing.
Instead, all the achievements needed could be achieved in 1 week of playing, therefore reward is equal to 1 week of playing WvW (although 1 hr of champ farming will still get you similar loot)
Would’ve been nice if rewards could be scaled somewhat more to the amount of contribution you provided for your server over the whole 7 weeks.

Give us a fractal or dungeon path where we can rampage along stone summit lands together with our dwarven friend Kilroy!
I’m sure it would be an epic path as long as there’s reckless charging into huge groups of enemies, dwarven brawling and lots of booze.
Friendly fire wil lead to civil war within servers (guild raids slaying pugs till they leave etc), and influx of massive saboteur legions from other servers (since league rewards are based on server you first logged into).
It would be a giant free-for-all, which could be quiet interesting actually. Also, imagine being able to use enemy portals – we don’t need to hide a mesmer in SM anymore, just get someone on the other server to just casually stroll in there and port the enemy.
Another perk would be to troll your fellow server-man in jumping puzzles. Think that group following you is safe after you cleared out the players from the other servers? Hah! they were wrong… watch your ‘allies’ crumple in rage as you kill them in the obsidian sanctum over and over again. Even better, you could res them yourself and kill them again!
When offensive skills target friend or foe, then so do support skills. Warrior trying to banner res his allies? Random 5 man limit AoE may as well select to resurrect 5 enemies, just when you thought you could gain the upper hand in the battle, you get outnumbered!
A Guardian using ’’Stand your ground" in the middle of a huge battle – how would you know your ally or enemy shouted this fierce warcry? Randomly giving stability to whoever feels like it applies to him/her. Do I feel like standing my ground? I am kinda tired, but on the other hand there is a nice bar with some good beers down at the keep…

I’ve been on t1 server since day 1, why would I transfer to another server?
I paid 0 gold for a bunch of bandwagoners to join my server and stack queues.
Pet AI still horrible.
F2 skills are unresponsive, howls take 10 seconds before they activate.
Pets just stand around doing nothing, there’s 2 enemies I’m attacking and my pet just doesn’t do anything.
Lick wounds is as random as it’s ever been.
These problems have been around since beta… >_>
There needed to be more rng in the game.
Hence, sometimes the wolf will howl, and sometimes it will not.

Nice guide bro, I only do sPvP once in a while because I get bored by it too quickly, but I do play a fair bit of WvW.
Usually I go for the Wolf + Drakehound because they offer the best cc.
Rangers kinda lack in cc removal, so an option is to cc your enemy with pet skill when you are stunned/immobilized yourself.
I run a 5/30/20/0/15 build with GS+Shortbow. Teaming up with a D/D ele or other bursty class (thief, mesmer) makes you steamroll anyone caught within range.

thanks for fix, although it did destroy the WvW balance in many servers :/
same problem here, was playing wvw and got moved to LA because new build was up, but i never got to la, i got stuck for 5 minutes in loading screen. i exited, then downloaded a small patch and cannot login anymore, gives me an error.
Same here, was playing WvW then booted after announcement of update.
Downloaded it, now I can select a character, but on the loading screen I get error: Code=42:5:7:878:101
Other characters do not work either.
Ranger in GW1 was great at interrupt others, in GW2 Anet should give us more stun, knockdown and knockback options.
Celestina is right, rangers in GW1 was better at PvP, but really hard to master it, rupt 1/4 sec cast skills requires A LOT of player skill.lol you can’t rupt a 1/4 skill… only time your rupts on a stupid person who spams his skill(s) on recharge.
You could by predicting when the enemy was going to use a skill (Combos, getting up after KD, 0.5 seconds after finished casting).
That’s what i said… which requires zero skill.
Takes some practice to time the 0,25s interval to get it 100%, guess you didn’t try.
Rangers were all about interrupting key skills while spreading poison to keep pressure. Also they were to push flagcarriers, keep an eye on enemy pushes and split def/offensively when needed. Doing this all at the same time under pressure in a GvG, my friend, does take a lot of skill if you want to do it perfectly.
The video you added is totally unrelated, just shows some warrior doing damage with 100b burst (lmao). Rangers were dead at graveyard most of the time. Even if the rangers rallied/pet feared you while down it wasn’t significant since you won the game by big difference. Also you got carried by your teammates who used stability when stomping so what’s the problem?
Pet res is only useful if you get in a 1v1 downed fight or you launched somewhere out of sight. Underwater yes it is bugged, but RotC is not in tournament is so most who complain are hotjoin farmer carebears.

This has been bugging me quite a lot lately.
I use a Wolf and Drakehound for pets, and their howl skills are at least somewhat useful.
However whenever I switch them and press F2, they just don’t respond and do not activate the skill. Always there is a ~3 second delay before F2 makes them use the skill.
Other pets seem to have the same bug.
It is just annoying because the Fear/Immobilize are potentially very useful when facing burst builds (noob thief spam/100b etc), but having to wait 5s (by now the quickness from pet switch has worn off) for it to activate just makes it totally unreliable.
Maybe this has to do something with AI/targeting, often I also see the pet running into melee range of my target (while it has 500 range), then using the howl. IMO the pet should just use skill at once at its current position when you press F2

Guess it’s decent for running in zergs since it maximizes LB damage, but offers low survivability.
I reckon you’ll get pwned when you’re caught 1v1 in most situations.
Taking lightning reflexes helps. Also putting the points from skirmishing into defensive trait lines will make a more all-round build.
Then you can do what rangers do best in WvW: Shoot people of cliffs with point blank shot, and/or then run away from the enemy zerg using Greatsword swoop + rampage as one.
