Cdi is great, but I think there should be in-game surveys as well so y’all can get a better finger on the pulse.

Eh, I dunno.

I mean, if I’m in game, it’s because I want to play, not write a paragraph on what was good and what wasn’t, and if it’s just a rating system, it doesn’t really go into ‘why’ the player feels that way.

You can check my edit as well.

Regardless, there are more ways to gather information and stats that reach the majority of players. Example… Click box in-game survey reveals that players would like the next forum cdi discussion to be 1. Professions, 2. Housing, 3. Mounts. So the monthly topics become those three. Same could go for forum surveys.

Edit- or have a survey section on the forums that changes every couple or few months that is tied in with cdi discussions. If you went this route, I would suggest sending in-game emails encouraging players to participate in the surveys and discussions.

Hi All,

Happy New Year! Thanks for being so patient with me. Regarding other dev’s posting during this period it is unlikely as it is the holiday period and I don’t expect them to emulate my behavior.

Note this CDI will only end when we are happy for it to do so ( and by we I mean all of us).

I am up to date with all the posts, thanks for all hard work, ideation, and discussion.

We are in the process of pulling the net in now and so I am going to ask you all to do something very difficult now (As in you won’t feel comfortable doing it). Previously I asked you to name your top three ideas. You did, and then everyone discussed them which led to a refocusing of many of your ideas and the birth of some new ones.

What I would like us to do is pick ONE idea that you would hold above all others as it relates to the community as a whole. Note I to found this very difficult but my one is blow. Also note I consider Wardrobe to be QOL, however any Wardrobe ideas that are Systemic or build on existing mechanics can be included.

Please also understand this is not a vote that leads to development, this is part of the ideation process. I would recommend looking at ideas that are built on existing systems or mechanics within the game. This is a nice to have however. Many have mentioned giving info on the relative weight of each idea that is put forward, we should do this after this phase but to be honest (having given it a lot of thought) I wouldn’t want to see this weighting get in the way of great ideas.

Remember at the end of the day we are not going to give details on what is in dev or what we plan to build. We will talk about what we like however and thus knowing details about Feature Cost is interesting to know but should not be something that inadvertently hampers the CDI or your ideas.

My original three were:

— Role Diversification: New skills/traits, new weapons, access to inaccessible existing weapons, infusions and hybrid professions.

— Sociopolitical Diversification: Player housing, Guild Halls, and Faction Alliances leading to new game play opportunities, rewards and content.

— Hero Recognition: Unique Skins, Titles, Rewards, followers and NPC reactions/opportunities based on the players individual feats in the world of Tyria regardless of how he/she chooses to play the game.

And my top one is:

— Sociopolitical Diversification: Player housing, Guild Halls, and Faction Alliances leading to new game play opportunities, rewards and content.

The other two were extremely close but I feel this one would have the best bang for buck for the community.

Finally note we are working on horizontal progression, with many of ideas (some of which may even be in this thread), so I can’t stress enough that this exercise is about further ideation focus refinement. Not a dev list.

I like your top three list, but I would go with profession development first because it affects all players and your meta needs a lot of love. besides, what is better for marketing ads come spring, greatly improved profession designs, combat and end game performance or house building and guild halls?

When are rangers going to be fixed?

Not to add more salt to the wound but when i see this video of a thief 1v5 winning

ofc there are people that are going to say: his opponents aren’t organised bla bla well i don’t see the need to be organised for 5 man to kill 1 guy – it’s not a huge PvE raid boss or something.

I get jealous why shouldn’t ranger be able to do such feats (or any other class for example)
If you place a ranger in the same situation everyone knows what the answer is going to be.
No other class can face 5 opponents AT THE SAME TIME and win (excluding mesmer probably) and that saddens me even more, it’s so obvious balance issue that it hurts when watching((((((((((((((((((((((.

even more quality gameplay and meta mechanics right here folks!

sigh, there is so much wrong with professions and combat that goes ignore.

I agree with you (for a change) lordrosicky. As a longtime pvp veteran and multigame tournament level player its quite easy to see where Anet slips up. The mode itself, the layout of certain maps and the impact of secondary objectives are the biggest cons.

I said this a 100 times allready. Eventho there are other factors that will influence its succes; the new gamemode (s) will make or break GW2s pvp. If they screw up (again) pvpplayers will scatter to other games and stay away for good. If the gamemode (s) end up being good the pvp population will increase rapidly.

The new gamesmodes (and pvp in general for that matter) needs to be easy to get in to but hard to master. Which isnt the case atm.

Conquest isnt intuitive enough. Its isnt focussed on killing and playing defensive to avoid kills. Its a totally different mindset if compared to traditional pvp and to real “esports” games.

aye Locuz what kind of game mode do you think will work for guild wars 2 sPvP?

in order to retain players, attract new players, go esports etc? O_O

this is what I would like to see happen…

1- fix the subpar professions and combat mode.
2- death match mode.
3- observe death match mode to keep fixing subpar professions and combat mode.
4- anything less than the above 3 modes will be futile mode.

My overall progression related stuff thoughts, concerns and comments…

I like the devs. I like this game. I’m grateful for these open CDI discussions. I like to complain in hopes to see improvements. I’m making kittenumptions at this point, but I get the feeling that any sort of vertical or horizontal progression will be implemented according to the path of least resource cost and coding resistance. You may feel it unfair of me to say that, but anet wanted us to judge their performance by what they did, not by what they talk about doing. Sadly and so far though, there has been very little development toward improving the main core aspects of the game. When I think of development over the past year, the first things that pop in my head are profession trait number shuffling-reshuffling-rereshuffling, willy nilly ascended gear implementation (and the associated crafting and grind) and temporary ls content. These are obviously not the only things in the patch notes, but the track record so far has made me skeptical that we will not see strong improvements anytime soon. With that said, I’d like to mention the following…

Financials are declining and there are lots of new games coming out this year. Do you want people sticking around, logging in consistently, creating and playing lots of different alts and spending money in the gem store? If the answers are yes, then leaving professions mostly “as is”, more trait reshuffling, skin lockers, housing, guild halls, personal story, minipets, town clothes, maps that don’t address wvw population problems, more bits and pieces of rewards and currency to grind for, more “crafting only” for progression, more achievement grind, lots of other stuff… are not going to make for a healthier new year unless you start taking care of the basic and necessary essentials first. With this and that in mind, I’d like to propose that the below suggestions be the 2014 priority plan…

1. Reinvest in your professions first. Reinvest big time. Make individual professions feel and play heroic, powerful, interesting, flexible, more balanced, enjoyable… Then work on how professions function as a team verses content. All of these things can be accomplished while still keeping professions unique and useful.

2 (tied in with 1). Professions could be made so much better by adding in a few more buttons to press or mouse click. Currently the controls are clunky and have too many things jam packed into too few buttons. Profession controls and powers can be made more “streamline” and straight forward to make it easier to pick up and play any profession. There needs to be less of tap this, swap that, hit F to loot and abilities with multiple functions, and more putting the skill of “ready” choices back in the hands of players to determine outcomes. There are a plethora of people who have been wanting something better than auto attack between long cool downs and swapping so make it happen. Seriously look at how coh handled their main click and toggle profession powers before you judge.

3. Implement core essential QoL features like improved camera zoom out, customizable ui, stuff directly loot to bag, lots of other AAA convenience stuff that I can’t think of now…

4. Again, I’m grateful for the CDI, but you need to open your test server to the public so you are not asking the majority for input after the fact and patch. You will have to find a way to hide loot/economy/crafting related stuff to make it happen, but it needs to happen.

5. Go ahead and add all the gear, levels and progression stuff you want, but eliminate the ridiculous grind, make things more alt friendly and offer multiple progression paths.

6. There are better ways to generate money from the gem store, so take your time to make worthwhile stuff that caters to all types of players.

7. Continuously keep your eyes focused on the core and make sure to budget better for first things first stuff.

Thanks for reading and Happy New Year!

My Dearest Love,

I hope this will find its way to you. Ever since our sons passed away in the war last year, I had been all alone in our old house in Queensdale. With the war raging around us, I decided to move into the garrison and they have been sieging it day and night.

I dream of you each night. The invaders from Dragonbrand are relentless. The Borlis Pass raiders have finally moved on to other lands, but the Isle of Janthir soldiers quickly moved in to take their place. I am unsure how much longer we can hold out. It feels like this war has been going on forever.

When are you coming home to me?

Ehmry Bay has not been the same ever since you left. Our sons both went to look for you and I received word that they were killed by our attackers. My days are filled with the constant sounds of explosions, and my nights are filled with tears.

Please come home to me.

I will wait here for you until my last breath. I hope that you are faring well. I fear that you too have gone the way of our sons. Though, I have not heard any news of your death, so I must assume that you are still alive. I hope. I pray. Please make your way back to me safe.

Forever Your Faithful Love,

Things from the manifesto are quite the opposite, grind for example, i am sure the devs have been asked this before but idk, why the change? what happened? was it necessary? was the manifesto a ideal to strive for but in reality not really possible?

Does anyone have any links to the devs explaining why the game isn’t like the manifesto?

Again this isn’t a qq thread, i guess they had to make these changes but id like to know why.

there is no manifesto. /waves hand like a jedi

This will be a complete fiasco. It will be as deserted as Southsun Cove after 2 months except during 2 hours of weekly reset.
Believe it or not, ANet, but core WvWers, be they roamers or zergers, DO care about points and defending/upgrading/holding keeps, something that gets utterly lost on EotM.
It’s completely unusable for roaming as well because player density will likely be even worse than on a random borderland, since you can never sure whether you’ll land on some barely-filled overflow, or even one that was only created because your and your server only got enough players to create one. Do they honestly think people would then gladly kill mindless PvE mobs that litter the map?

sigh, they just don’t get it. this is a fiasco and waste of time and resources that does not address population issues or other core problems such as abysmal profession designs. they would have been better off making strong investments and updates to the current maps we have. additionally, if one of the other intentions was to encourage pvers to try pvp, then this larger scale skyhammerish map will have the opposite effect.

I’m fully assuming that we will have an “after the fact” cdi thread on this and see map changes in 2015. I’m also assuming that the changes will be to make the bridges non destructible and raising of the pve mobs hp.

unimpressed by the development team yet again.

What's wrong with Guild Wars 2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Swagger.1459

Swagger.1459

More like:

1. SPvP is a huge step down from the acclaimed GvG fights that gave GW1 it’s competitive reputation.

2. The build system is made even more restriction by the stupidly low selection of weapons, utilities, healing skills, and elites available to each profession.

3. Too many resources are being used on the wrong things. Instead of improving the core experience, so much development time and talent has been wasted on a lackluster living story arc.

4. Too much emphasis on twitch reactions as a form of skill and not nearly enough emphasis on intelligent skill choice, skill usage, and team coordination. (PvE)

5. Too much emphasis on zerging. Not enough emphasis on small group roaming. (WvW)

6. Rewards for dynamic events, fractals, and many of the more difficult dungeon paths are pitiful.

7. The balance team does next to nothing.

8. Poor stat nomenclature balance – especially in PvE. Con damage is too worthless in PvE, while being overpowered in pvp formats. Berserker is too valuable in PvE content. Healing power is all around meh – unless you’re an SPvP bunker.

9. Underwater combat still feels like an alpha product.

And…. despite it all…..

10. Too many critics. You have to acknowledge your shortcomings, but it’s easy to get sick of all the whining posts. We need some balance in the force.

good post!

Swagger, those are mechanics alterations. Whatever their merits, I think they more properly belong in Suggestions — this thread is for brainstorming ways to broaden our character experience through game play, as in, adding stuff that enriches game time but does not change power level.

Though I suppose asking for additional buttons to press might count. To that I’ll say I wouldn’t feel broadened, I’d feel cluttered. I love the simple but flexible design we have right now.

Thanks for replying!

My super awesome ideas are mostly about building a strong core foundation for the rest of these other future horizontal progression suggestions. You’ll be thanking me later for my tremendous contribution to this thread, so I’ll do the preemptive standard reply now… You’re welcome!

No. This is another one of these “I take parts from my favourite kind of game and put it elsewhere.”
We don’t need another whack-a-mole MMO. Guild Wars has always been about less buttons, and I thoroughly enjoy that. Trust me; I’ve been there in other games; 42buttons hotkeyed. It wasn’t fun.

Your suggestion also forces things into slots which only furthers the narrowing down of choice and selection. At times, I even think the dedicated healing button is too much enforcement, and more often than not I wished my elite slot could also house regular skills.

No. Really, no. This would be detrimental to the game.

We were encouraged earlier to mention aspects of other games that we liked. Also, if you consider coh a “whack-a-mole mmo” then I’m sorry, but that game had a carp ton of amazing features that this “aaa” game does not have. In addition, they had a far superior professions and combat system. Far superior my friend.

Sorry, but adding 8-10 more buttons to use and slot is not anywhere near overwhelming. Those slots create fuller weapon sets and add a few more skill options to the current extremely limited system of auto attack and long cool downs.

I agree too, I just don’t have faith in ANet as a developer to implement even half of the suggested changes by the time this game has lost most everyone’s interest.

It’s too bad, and I wish they would have allocated the type of resources that the living world requires to fixing the games balance and broken mechanics before worrying about introducing new content, but I guess when a game isn’t a monthly payment and also has micro-transactions, that you aren’t trying to keep players playing and are only trying to get as many people to buy as much as possible before they get bored, and stop playing until the next living world patch, if they even log back in ever.

Sorry, just felt like offering up my criticism about ANet for a moment.

I agree with most all of the reorganization and reworking of mechanic ideas, so I do have the sincerest hope that ANet puts their best efforts towards streamlining big changes that would alter the gameplay experience in the future.

Very well said!

1- hire more people (like you did for ls development) to seriously work on professions and combat. one of those people hired should be familiar with coh so they can help guide you with developing much better character, ability, combat, cc, movement, progression, lots more stuff… systems.

2- gw2 could use more ability and weapon buttons to press on the bar. I suggest something like this…
*#1-10 would be used for individual or multiple weapon skills.
*f1-f4 mechanics bar
*f5 heal skill
*f6 aoe/team heal skill
*f7-f10 utility skills
*f11 &f12 elite skills
*a 3rd weapon swap option would be great as well.

3- open test server. remove combat movement suppression and speed up running. increase camera zoom out. increase ranger damage across the board. option to stow ranger pets. mounts. more rewards and less grind. auto face to improve melee combat. loot goes directly to bag. normalize profession hp. reduce burst capabilities by a lot. redo stealth mechanics or give rangers access to thief stealth abilities. customizable ui. cut cool downs by half.

indeed, there are many things I miss from that innovative game. sadly, because it was not your traditional sword, sorcery and dragon game, it did not get the props or following it deserved.

I find it interesting that in “modern” games people are impressed by certain features that coh had implemented long before they were even around. between “profession” offerings, vast powers/abilities, gameplay and qol features, amazing combat, ease of pick up and play, build flexibility and variety, power customization, amazing animations and effects… none of these newer games (gw2 included) holds a candle to what was offered. so when I hear things like “there is such great depth to characters and combat” and “look at all this ground breaking stuff” around here, my desire to play mmos dwindles. I’m keeping up some hope in anet to make a turn around though, so i’ll wait to see what direction they are taking when the content patch comes in spring.

I’m looking forward to other games too,

GW2 was great, had all the right ingredients and the right ambitions.

But the game-design has been an absolute disaster ever since launch. Instead of evolving the core game-play they decided to tack on more and more hollow content updates that really don’t elevate the game. Class balance just seems to get worse as time progresses while some still have issues that plagued them from day 1. The content they do add doesn’t offer any meaningful progression or rewards. Instead rewards are almost completely random and the best gear is acquired by the dullest, most grindy and generic activity in game….crafting.

Every decision that that could have elevated the game, it seems like ANet opted for the opposite. That’s why I’ll gladly move on when the times comes, even if it does infer paying a 15$ subscription again.

well said and true.

talk about a team that keeps missing the mark, there are so many core areas neglected and qol features missing that it’s pretty disappointing for a “AAA” mmo and “game of the year”. I know there is the cdi discussion, but nothing will come to fruition soon enough, and I guarantee that core things and essentials will remain the same because they will keep adding willynilly fluff.

look at profession development so far, a year of trait reshuffling and a few heal skills on a subpar and limited profession system that barely passes as decent in open world pve and is atrocious for spvp and wvw. also, if the wvw level progression is an indicator of horizontal character progress to come, then this game will be doomed.

I know I am, can’t wait to see what Anet have for us in 2014.

Given the current state of the game and development time necessary to make any significant changes for the better, I’m not really excited. although, considering that it takes competition to force err… encourage reinvestment into content and gameplay, i’m sure they will make a halfway decent effort at least. cdi is a good public display of desire to improve, but it may be too little too late unless they can make a big turn around by going into overdrive and proving to the community that they are sincerely interested in more than just having a subpar game that focuses more on squeezing money from players.

New players coming in, community please

People, this is post for all you experienced players out there, I have seen a trend lately o bash new players in both dungeon and champion farming at queensdale. As many of you know, 40% game price discount happened and thus we have a great influx of new players. Because of this, new players and trying out dungeons and open world, and I have noticed very toxic behavior from some of us veteran fellows.

If a new player joins the dungeon party; kindly explain some of the most important parts, why it is necessary that they gear better with sets such as berserker in dungeons, explain why rather than force it, explain important fights or mechanics of the dungeon, give a good impression.

If a new player is lost and attempts to kill a chapion out of rotation, please explain him the reason why people are doing it, guide them, show them around, in a nice way, do not force it.

Im sure that as a community we can give a better impression! These are player that are increasing our populations, lets give them reasons to stay, not to run away!

This is simply a PSA, remember, we want to have more people to run maps and dungeons together, amkes the game more fun! :0 If you got any other suggestion please leave it here and keep it bumped so that we can create awareness!

Don’t blame players for poor game mechanics and developer decisions. In this case, the low level zones should not be designed to encourage champ train zerg farming, and all dungeons should be made soloable. a bunch of low level dungeons should be introduced as well so players can get the feel for them.

devs,

there are a lot of interesting ideas in this thread, but please focus solely on profession development and improving combat first. there is much more potential to the character and combat experience, and it will take a lot more than just another year of trait number reshuffling to produce something meaningful. right now is the time to step back, reinvest and work on core systems before you add in more things that don’t address issues or inequities.

the current leveling up skill point acquisition to purchase abilities is perfect. I hope you all don’t make a convoluted mess of the current system or force players to do more things they don’t want to do to achieve new abilities.

thanks!

Has there been any more whisperings about the next legendary weapons?

If I was working at ANET, I would release them right before ESO is launched to re-energize the player base, but I would probably already be talking about them.

Maybe in the new year?

Any thoughts?

idk about legendary stuff, but they are ending ls and doing a content patch around the same time. competition is such a great motivator, so i look forward to all the new shinies that players have been begging for.

progression stuff…

step 1- hire more people (like you did for ls development) to seriously work on professions and combat. one of those people hired should be familiar with coh so they can help guide you with developing much better character, ability, combat, cc, movement, progression, lots more stuff… systems.

step 2- gw2 could use more ability and weapon buttons to press on the bar. I suggest something like this…
*#1-10 would be used for individual or multiple weapon skills.
*f1-f4 mechanics bar
*f5 heal skill
*f6 aoe/team heal skill
*f7-f10 utility skills
*f11 &f12 elite skills
*a 3rd weapon swap option would be great as well.

step 3- open test server.

step 4- profit from long term retention and earn the respect of players who value quality profession and combat systems.

additionally, you will need to remove combat movement suppression, greatly increase the camera zoom out range and provide a customizable ui to compliment these amazing new progression systems.

thanks!

rp mode off- it’s really nice to know that the 4 new teams hired to make ls content are getting some recognition. perhaps in 2014 there will be more than a handful of profession and combat developers and we will read about their accomplishments.

For the love of god listen to Nike.

Sub-classes will be the death of this game. They’re un-needed and should be the last thing Arenanet looks toward.

This isn’t Guild Wars 1, it’s not going to work out all sunshine and rainbows as it did there. I’m sure Guild Wars 1 wasn’t easy to balance either, in fact I know it wasn’t because they’ve stated it was a nightmare at times.

Even adding a single new skill to each class can have a significant influence on the balance of the game. I don’t want to see the train wreck that sub-classes would lead to.

we can negotiate all day about the various ideas, but there are some things that irk me every time I see it in a post by a game developer or certain players that happens to be in your post. you’re right, nothing is ever going to be “all sunshine and rainbows”, but a huge chunk of people/players/customers like and want options/choices/flexibility. most people don’t want to hear stuff like “wasn’t/isn’t/not gonna be easy to balance and was/is/will be a nightmare at times”. their job is to make the best game possible so players stick around and spend money. this job is not about doing things easy and churning out suboptimal content and systems, it is about doing what needs to be done as efficiently as possible. yes, anet has worked hard, but they mentioned wanting to change their philosophy and make the best game possible and these things will never be achieved with the current mentality and reinvestment level. the “good enough” development philosophy needs to be changed asap, so I’m hoping that this cdi is real step to fundamental change and not just more pr fluff and empty conversations.

Hi All,

This is my last day at work before the holiday season and I am going to be very busy!

Once I am on vacation I will have more time to respond and engage.

I am therefore going to postpone the focused discussion on Horizontal Progression until tomorrow. I will catch up post page 36 today (or at least try).

Meanwhile I have a question. This thread is BIG. Would the folks who have already commented on Horizontal want a new thread which is just based on Horizontal or should we just carry on with this thread?

Regarding my reminders from you about comments on some kind of reward for the Fractal reset, I am still thinking about feelings around it.

Chris

will provide more details tomorrow.

horizontal progression…

step 1- hire more people (like you did for ls development) to seriously work on professions and combat. one of those people hired should be familiar with coh so they can help show you all what far superior character, ability, combat, progression… systems look like.

step 2- start by doing what I suggested earlier for horizontal progression.

step 3- open test server.

step 4- profit from long term retention and earn the respect of players who value quality profession and combat systems.

Devs and Players Unite(Please)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Swagger.1459

Swagger.1459

guys, ok, so I have been snooping around all of the parts of our forums, and almost every thread I see goes about sidetracking into the typical sense:

Devs! You are a failure!

This is almost too stupid of a thing for me to comprehend. I am guessing those of you who stay in GW2 even after saying those things like something about the game right? Then act like you are appreciative and nothing more. If you think about the entire forums as a giant home where we are relatives of each other, it is almost like half of us are kindergardeners, while the next 25% of us are actually appreciative people, and the next 25% are just major trolls. So here’s what I am saying. It seems more and more like Gw2 is going to become a chaotic place in the future for the forums. The forums are where we get in contact with each other the easiest, and where brilliant ideas can be used.

I feel like this forum will actually get dirty if it continues to become a topic place of arguing against the devs.

@Players. If you are going to argue, do talk in a mannered voice, and give strong but calm reasons to back yourselves up. And don’t start a rant about something which can be addressed calmly.

@Devs. If you do something that might anger or confuse the players, give us a reason of why you did it. It doesn’t take much to start a thread and tell us what’s going on on the other side in terms of trying to manage the forums. If there is a policy at the other side which limits your contact with us as players by 80% or more, then that is no game. It’s just downright sad to see in the nicest way possible.

So my proposal. Maybe we should really have a chat get together maybe every month to see how we are doing on things, and what each of us(players and devs) have to propose to the community. Of course, this does not mean you devs have to come to this sort of chat with the nervous mind of being forced to share developments secrets. It just could be a way to talk to each other friendly. That, in my own opinion, is the path to success and happiness for both sides. I am being dead serious on this matter.

much of the negativity and frustration would be alleviated if there were an open test server. also, if players saw more development to other core areas besides the gold sinks and gem sales systems, this would be a nicer place and game.

Oh and pls don’t say that the shortbow is a condition weapon ;-;

horizontal character progression…

I’ve never played gw1, but many have consistently mentioned that it had a great amount of profession options and flexibility. this game is in desperate need of profession development, so mirroring what was offered in your original game would be a good start.

in addition to the above, gw2 could use more buttons to press on the bar. I suggest something like this…
*#1-10 would be used for individual or multiple weapon skills.
*f1-f4 mechanics bar
*f5 heal skill
*f6 aoe/team heal skill
*f7-f10 utility skills
*f11 &f12 elite skills

a 3rd weapon swap option would be great as well.

last but not least, get rid of combat movement suppression and provide an option to pan out the camera more like you do for certain encounters.

thanks and make it so!

So 22 skills available at any one time? What would it add to the game?

yes. far superior build variety and more abilities at hand to make combat more engaging.

taken from a thread I started on vertical gear progression…

“We have never said there would be no vertical progression. We do intend to focus on horizontal but we will have vertical progression moving forward with the focus on zero grind and a very low power curve.”

when you add up statements like “we don’t make grindy games”, “cosmetic only grind”, “we want to reward all gameplay preferences equally”, “focus on zero grind” and do something completely different, it causes resentment towards the development team and conflict among players. i’m sure there were good intentions for the game that didn’t seem profitable or retention worthy, so i’d like to quickly give some tips on how you can stay true to your words while still making money and keeping players logging in.

simplified description below…

step 1- refocus on gear acquisition with zero grind in mind and stick to it. keep legendaries hard to get because of the new stat change feature and ultra fancy looks.

step 2- offer a majority of the weapon and armor skins currently in game on the gem store as well so players have the option to buy them outright. players will still have the ability to earn all gear and skins through pure gameplay.

step 3- main gear progression through a greatly expanded infusion system and make it the go-to thing that players have to “work hard” for or “work hard” crafting. you don’t have runes or sigils beyond level 60, so this would be a great opportunity to develop an interesting secondary stats and effects system.

following these three steps will allow all players to have the gear stats they want easily, and getting a bunch of different armor types would be more desirable and less distressing. regular gameplay becomes way more rewarding through improved loot drops and acquisition. gem sales would boost because of the plethora of cosmetic options available. players will happily log in more to chase after carrots on sticks so they can continuously upgrade and change their gear. players will still have the ability to earn all of these rewards from regular gameplay and not have their time and effort diminished. also, these types of systems would be alt friendlier and encouraging. win-win!

moral of the story, stick to your words and make it so everyone can have their cake and eat it too.

thanks for reading

edit- ascended gear should be far easier to craft and sellable on the bltc as well.
