Yea I didn’t think that was that much harder than the howler king path with the protect the researcher guy, just strafe and smack.
The howler king path when you have to defend the researcher is actually really easy, you just have to do it in the right order. It still took us at least an hour to work out though.
Yea that is easy once know the order, and that 100% charge thing isn’t that bad after you get down where the burrows spawn so you can be on them ASAP, plus having humans helps a lot. Grenth’s blessing ftw.
Yea I didn’t think that was that much harder than the howler king path with the protect the researcher guy, just strafe and smack.
Is colossus the hard path? I’ve only done that and the howler king thus far I thought those 2 were pretty even in their difficulty.
Doubled the badge rewards for an honest to goodness completion. Gonna make getting the gear quicker for me I agree. And no more token farming I like too, can’t tell you how often I get in groups that I’m thinking it’s a full run and it turns into a token farm cause it’s “easier”
Soon there will be a big mop that will give map chat a good cleaning.
What is this nonsense, anonymity? I am the only swagman in gw2! Unless there’s some monocle wearing, tea sipping, scone biting imposter on the EU server!
Anyway the comment of you join a guild so you can have a prayer of completing an explo dungeon…. Come on! I’ve completed every dungeon I’ve started thus far. Yes some are harder than others, but it just takes direction, communication, and the will to keep pushing. And I’ve done it all with pugs. I’m not sure what you guys are doing wrong I wish I knew so I could help.
Try just chatting with people in map chat, I’m in 3 guilds now from doing that and I have more invites from others, if they don’t do nearly enough then try the next one.
My friends list is also mostly full of people that I’ve dungeoned with after forming and leading the group, taking the reigns and making groups and searching for people will draw others to you especially if you have smooth dungeon runs they will want to party with you again. That’s how I initially made a bunch of connections from when I was getting my SE set.
I’d love to hear more name origins if you haven’t added yours please do.
Ah love to see the close mindedness of wow seeping into gw2
Your 1 button and things just die arguement reminded me of a little convo I had back in my wow raiding days with a hunter friend of mine.
Me “wow you are always doing amazing dps, how do you do it?”
Hunter “I dunno I just got this macro off a hunter forum, it has all my spells in rotation I just sit there hitting 1 button”
Yea they are all in Orr but they are not the only way to get exotics. There is dungeon vendors in LA that have full sets as well.
Seeing people again complain about dungeon difficulty, just did AC explo path the colossus. Had a few more deaths than usual but it was a completely new group and had some brutal events in there, but we got through it and each time we failed we came back and did better.
It’s not like they’ll lose any content by rushing, they can always go back.
The big problem is the people that rush and complain there’s nothing to do won’t go back after they are 80.
It’s just conditioning from other mmos. I know all of the undead starting zones like the back of my hand in wow but i can’t tell you anything really interesting or something that stood out, cause there was nothing.
Personally I have yet to see it affect in game that much, yes the general chatter has slowed down later at night in LA. But so far it still feels pretty populated. I was able to get groups for 3 separate dungeons yesterday.
You drew similarities between the decline of SWTOR, and i was there. This is so far not the case. I remember looking for groups in the fleet and my text echoing back at me. I think there needs a bit more time to see how many people are enjoying what’s here, and those that complain for the sake of complaining.
First off allow me to introduce myself. I am Swagman, explorer, adventurer, gentleman.
Now I, as a gentleman of the free-and-easy sort, who plume himself with being acquainted with a move or two, and being usually equal to the time-of-day, express the wide range of my capacity for adventure by observing that I am good for anything from agility challenges to manslaughter; between which opposite extremes, no doubt, there lies a tolerably wide and comprehensive range of subjects.
And being that my rather impressive collections of armour invariably announces, it’s inability to speak notwithstanding, my rather deft ability for dispatching foes. I feel that my more brutish side is well represented.
It is my great misfortune then, to inform you that my paltry collection of civilized formal wear does not accurately represent, much to my chagrin, the finer more Bon Vivant side of my personality.
I am therefore disposed to this rather simple entreaty. I request the addition of a few finely tailored garments. The finest suits for the gentlemen, and gowns for the ladies. I have already purchased the finely made top hat, but it simply does not fit right with the peasant’s rags I currently wear.
I thank you most humbly for taking the time to humor my request. And if other persons of nobility understand my plight, please do voice your concerns, in the most respectful manner.
Noticed this was happening as I replaced my rares with dungeon exotics, each time I would take the old piece of gear, salvage the rune out, and place it in my new gear. Well I didn’t notice until late last night but it now tells me I’m wearing 12 of the same runes. Even though I only have 6 in my gear.
I can even take off all said gear and if mouse over it in my bags it says 6/6. I haven’t tested if I’m still getting the 6 set bonus I’ll have to try that later, but has anyone run into this? Is it a graphical bug? Or a weird error?
I know that book! A spell for chameleon, I read that ages ago.
Mmhmm yes, very good. -twirls mustache adjusts monocle- I shall toss my hat in the ring for that Markus chap. If you know a finer gentleman than a guardian, please make my acquaintance with him so I may cultivate a friendship with that person. But seeing as how no such a person exists Markus it is!
Well you guys can take your logic and rationale elsewhere! I for one will be determined to not have fun once I pass 250 hours no matter how tough it may be with such a grandiose world to explore.
I will then proceed to complain and admonish the game.
Well enjoy it while it lasts, according to some people on the forums your only going to get a measly 250 hours of fun. I’m still having a blast but I haven’t hit this brick wall of no fun yet.
I agree they can voice their opinion, but come on. Buyer beware if you purchase something with no knowledge of it and don’t like it, who can you really blame.
I guess I’m very unoriginal, Human male warrior weaponsmith. I’m in all the highest brackets >.<
Well I was there first.
Michael Moorkitten seems to be a popular source of inspiration for some.
Lot more guys playing gals than gals playing guys it seems. Guess the guys are just trying to get free stuff?
I don’t see the necessity for the why it’s fun part, of course it’s fun!
I’ve had many instances of it happening, one which was rather strange, I afk’d in LA one time on a pedestal around the fountain. I was looking quite dapper in my pink tophat and town clothes. And when I came back from afk there was 3 people dancing around me with no clothes on!
A very interesting conversation took place.
Aren’t you a big Charr by the way? If you are, then I knelt before your pink awesomeness on a pedestal in Divinity Reach once…
Hrmm nope guess someone is ripping off my style, and since I’m human I guess that makes this charr my mortal enemy!
Just always buy the 88c ones until you are 80 and getting drops that are worth it to salvage, 70-80 stuff.
Screw those other people I’ll keep a game pad next to my keyboard for when combat happens! I’ll be the only one kickingkitten while everyone else is moving like they are trying to play QWOP
I forget the name (too early) but the zone south of the human starting zone the lvl 15-25 one. I love it for its variety, it makes it a really interesting zone. In the north east you have a swamp, to the south there’s an awesome little town nestled in the hills, west of that you have a plains full of wild animals, then a molten fissure with destroyer mobs everywhere. They even cover underwater nicely with the giant lake in the center.
It should be more like soul caliber, I want to be able to parry, I want high mid and low attacks, power attacks, combos, and instead of planting a flag in someone I want fatalities.
But I doubt that would happen so I’m content with the current fighting system.
I post on the forums often and I think I got 1 mail spam this week. Maybe they just like you.
You said you play 6 hours daily. I play close to that too, sometimes a lot less or a lot more on weekends depending on what I have to do. But I am nowhere near close to half of all that stuff you have said you’ve done. I would say not even a quarter.
You said you didnt rush through, and let’s just say you didn’t. You seem to have accomplished things in this game at a much faster pace than the average player. But that is by your choice cause apparently that’s what you like to do. Others may not choose to do so because that is what they like to do, and will get more time doing the same activities.
A good example is how you said you have done all the jump puzzles and 100% world completion. Now I’ve done very few jump puzzles, but I REALLY love jump puzzles. Now I could decide to look online for videos and guides that shows all the locations of jump puzzles, but I’d rather find them on my own organically. Not saying you did this but it’s an example. Also there’s some vistas in zones I haven’t been able to reach. Once again I could just give it a quick google search but id rather figure it out on my own, even if that means 45 minutes of me running in circles.
To be honest I don’t think there is any mmos that will keep up with your drive to beat the game unless it’s a wow style you have to rely on 24 other people to accomplish goals.

Moved to front of post but basically was asking do you commonly give the same personality to the same genders.

Not really inserting profanity unnecessarily, but now when it’s a word I know will get filtered I just type kitten instead, especially if it’s connected to another word or plural, that way the auto correct doesn’t screw up the sentence.
Go in peace my son, and remain light at heart. May you have the wind at your back and a spring in your step. There shall always remain a place here to rest your head and revitalize your spirits, should you ever have any need of such things.
Most of my characters are female. My Mesmer Norn is a male only because the female starting outfit was indecent on the two different races I looked at (norn and human). I don’t want to walk around in the buff, and I don’t want to have to spend my first several levels trying to find gear that covers her properly.
Overall I’ve been pretty happy that the females I did role can easily opt out of the outfits with high levels of exposure. I don’t mind if other characters want to prance around with little to wear, but I don’t want to do that.
If you are worried about that just make a medium armor wearer and get all the studded armor. That stuff looks like it was made out of a quilt.
Exaggerated claims
/sigh
One time while doing the jumping puzzles around lions arch, I do them just about everyday for fun, I ran into a guild that was having a jumping puzzle guild event. After some chatting they invited me to join them. At the end of one they all sat facing each other in a circle. They told me to sit down with them but as I was walking around the circle I had an idea.
I started to stop behind each one and type “duck” and after about 3 ducks I typed GOOSE! and turned walk off and started to run around the circle. To my delight the person who I stood behind got up and started chasing me. After a few circles I quickly got to his spot and typed /sit. And then he began walking around us typing duck at each person. We carried on this game about 4 times and I was laughing the whole time.
Well I can’t really understand how people would not have grasped the dodging concept by that point of the game. It’s a bit of a mystery to me.
I love having a complete dungeon set just as much as the next person ( probably more so since ive been a complete recluse in SE till I’m done). But sometimes I break down and go do a different dungeon or WvW or something. We may be more similar in those regards than you think.
You are crazy I was doing runs all last night, yes I was getting 2s50c for the end reward but in that span I got several destroyer cores and a lodestone and 6 globs of ectoplasm.
Not dying = no repair costs = all profit
I could but I would just use my current livestream channel that I’ve been showing off the bwes in the past.
The thought never occurred to me to record my dungeon runs. I guess I can start doing it.

Btw if that is the route you choose to go I am a 400 weaponsmith and if you’d like I can craft whatever after you gathered materials, I never charge anything. That is if you don’t know someone already.
More likely he was in a terrible group and none of them knew how to play their class. They probably thought they could button mash their way to the end.
I get that, but I have yet to have this experience in any dungeon I do and I always just pull people out of lions arch.
Yet I see people whine how hard dungeons are and that they are afraid to do them (that group I had before we went someone left recounting their own horror story)
But I also try to communicate and puzzle out what is going to happen next, pay attention to what mobs hurt the most then call targets on them. Is it that there is this group of really bad people, or does nobody want to work together?
I don’t remember he just told me repeatedly before we ran it that “it’s not worth it”
And then afterwards I get “are we running again?”
This is what I was told by a party member when I told him I wanted to do the military path in Sorrows Embrace (bottom option)
Now I have cleared all the explorable paths in SE but I don’t remember any of them being that difficult.
So I told him no there has to be a mistake the military path is fairly simple trust me lets do it anyway. Our other party members had never been there before, first timers. They were all pugs. Knowing this I communicated the dangers each boss presented, said where ambushes were coming and told them what to expect at each area that I deemed challenging.
All in all the run took less than 30 minutes and no died, except our unlucky engineer who died twice, once being from dodge rolling off a cliff into lava (which was funny)
So I asked the person, how could you have possibly have had a 2 hour run and 26s in repairs when we just cleared it in 30 mins with almost no deaths. He was just as confused as me.
So I would like to ask anyone who has had one of these nightmare dungeon runs, what’s up? Is there 0 communication? Does nobody offer advice? What happens in these runs?
I know some of you may say “well that’s easy compared to X” maybe, but then what happens to make an easy dungeon into a 2 hour ordeal, that’s my question.
Where am I supposed to find elder wood Mea?! It’s not like it just grows out of the ground!
@Terok, you don’t because… hang on let me bring in a fan boy.
FanboyExotic gear is by no means an upgrade to your damage output and survivorbility, it is only a 12 – 20 percent increase and therefore only used for aesthetic reasons.
But one thing fanboys an girls fail to realize 12 – 20 percent more damge ranges anywhere from 400 – 800 more BASE damage which is pretty significant.
Some fanboy said the crazy remarks dungeons can be done in whites
And I said really, lets do it! lets form a party to do exploration dungeon in white gear to which they say if i can find people. They make this kitten up swear its like a talking a wall accept a wall doesnt make stupid things up.
Exotic gear is the baseline equipment a level 80 should have to be efficient to have the 18 – 24k hp Hrouda expects us to have.
And right now with all the goldsinks theres no way for you to attain those unless you get gems
Well this is very odd indeed, you see I was able to obtain an exotic weapon while wearing lower than level 80 gear in some cases (amulet, rings) they were level 35. I’ll give you the absolute simplest way I can think of, which is what I did.
100% one of the Orr zones or frostgorge sounds. Make sure before you do to switch your crafting professions to weapon and armor smiths, you don’t have to level them. Cursed shore and frostgorge are very easy zones to 100%. Once complete you will get 40x crafting materials for whatever crafting profs you are. With the 2 smithings you will most likely get 40 orichalcum. That just about enough for a crafted exotic. Now of course you will need to either buy or farm the wood and whatever crafting material the stats require. But if you 100% another zone you can get another 40x ori and sell that to cover costs.
I’m really loving how far back some of these names go.
Reminds me of a Orc I made in Morrowind that is probably the first name I made up with no outside influence. I named him Balthor and since I was familiar with the naming style of orcs in TES I gave him the surname Gro-Bar.
So Balthor Gro-Bar was the first completely made up name I had. Then later while reading a MGT book I learned of a dwarf named Balthor Rockfist, and I was like, Hey they stole my name, kittens!
