contrary to mesmers elementalists are always on the defensive.
… I have no idea what you’re talking about… As a warior I can stack 25 stacks of bleed with two button presses….
sword mainhand, axe offhand and greatsword as weaponswap.
Focus on crit percentage and crit chance. Use Greatsword 2- 3 – swap- 2-5-f1 and you will have beaten most of everything. The only challenge left is to survive long enough to pull all that off. Also get some condition damage and get bleeds on crits. You’ll be able to stack 25 bleeds easy. Add to that the might on crit with greatsword trait and all your bleeds and hits will be doing even more damage.
20/10/30/0/10
Equip all signets, equip S/F and enjoy the perma swiftness, fury, fire aura etc.
30th in water allows you to share the auras and thus also the boons associated with it.
Get boon duration runes. As you’ll get alot of might with this build I’d go for PVT gear for the bit more defense.
All of this will make you very much tanky and hard to kill while you’re able to give your allies a ton of might.
Cantrips and arcana is awesome because they’re instant-casts so if you are to run a S/F+signet build you’ll have to realize that all those skills have actual casting time resulting in you being more of a caster than a close combat D/D that we’ve all come to love.

As a S/F might-sharing ele I love the focus and its utilities. Combined with all the combo finishers the elementalist has add the fire aura to it… Its sweet! Did you know you can give perma fire aura to your team with a signet-aura build with 20 in fire and 30 in water.
one of the downed skills is mistform so if you jump down and just attack close to the gate and the moment you’re downed you mistform back through the gate and rez etc. rinse and repeat. Not a single class out there that can do the same.
uhm… 0/10/0/30/30 is not the only build… I was fighting 6 people at once in wvw. My ally pretty much died instantly but I survived for well over 6 minutes and even killed one of ‘m. That was with S/F on my first run with the build. I’m still working on the build so can’t share a whole lot about it…
I use a D/D burst hybrid bunker build… I have no idea what you mean with elementalist hitting like wet noodles because mine sure doesn’t. I generally don’t run away from fights unless its a 3v1… With my S/F cond. set up I can take on 5 people at once… That was on my first try too.
You should just try everything and see what works for you and what doesn’t.
the elementalist staff is like a siege engine, you don’t go to fight an army of bunnies (trash mobs) with artillery. Kinda like don’t bring a tank to a guerilla war. You can provide support but compared to the other weaponsets its more of a single shot chance to make a difference.
D/D is like the combat healer. Always in the heat of battle healing, buffing and rezzing allies when needed.
S/F is fun too since you have soooo many defensive skills but very few healing spells.
I use full cleric’s armor with boon duration runes, some rampager, magi’s, clerics, divinity and carrion accesories to balance things out.
Could get 1200+ healing power with full clerics and since you can do a whole lot of healing as an elementalist and healing power affects most of that its nice to run. Plus don’t forget to stack all the might you can muster or else you’ll hit like wet noodle.
Boonduration will keep your might going for attleast 20 seconds by that time you’ll be able to hit up your second stack of might. Fury is great too for the +20% crit chance so I could see myself going for a crit-dmg build. But not now. I’m trying a survivable condition build at the moment.
the health regen from dolyak is only 30 hp per second and if you have signet of healing on you; with some healing power you can get 280 health back per skill use.
guardians can share two aegis’s with allies that when they end can heal and give retaliation. Add in any other type of healing you guys got and you got yourself a sweet combat healer. Kinda like my D/D elementalist healer
GS-3-1HS-2-f3-shout(save yourselves)-focus5-GS3 etc… in a 1 on 1 against anything you can’t lose….. except for monsters and players that have rapid attacks…. like number two on the 1HS

1. STEAM CREATURES!!! Or whoever made ’m…
2. Tengu because I wanna make a Tengu thief
3. Skritt because its my nickname in game
I see they still haven’t fixed it after 30 minutes… Guess I should make some coffee then
that is actually a pretty sweet set-up if you play it right.
This is what I switch to from my D/D set-up when I go S/F to solo a supply camp:
http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/elementalist/?1|b.1b.h17.d.1o.h1|0.0.0.0.0.0|1b.719.1b.719.1b.719.1b.719.1b.719.1b.719|1k.68.1a.9a.1g.67.1g.67.1b.63.8a.68|a4.a1.0.u39b.k56|2.5|e
Why not do both?
It’s just in that particular event that I don’t use water and that’s only when I want healing dailies. For all others I’m constantly switching between fire and water. I rarely use air outside of applying swiftness because I find little use for blinds and the damage is lackluster. As for earth, if magnetic shield lasted 8 seconds or 5 seconds with more than one way of applying it, I would consider it as a great defensive attunement. I’m still tinkering with it on occasion but, as things are now, water is just better. I get heals, regeneration and a few conditions which I find more useful.
I use D/D as a support/healer. Shared auras and waterskill 2 and 5 plus switching to water heals a bunch. Earth 4 and Air 5 are pretty good control skills and fire 3 and 4 give combofields with which you can give your allies some might. Also switching atunements in general with maxed out boon duration will give your allies might, regen, protection etc. You yourself will be pretty hard to kill also.
Here is an arcana D/D condition build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEEQJAoYhMmKbkRzgjEAkCtEKIgQxDQUeEzN1A;ToAg1CuowxgjAHLOOck4MIYWA
focus is not the condition damage but the crit that proc conditions and give you perma vigor. Its something I came up with on the fly so haven’t tested it yet.
….no
the build you made has no synergy.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEEQJArdhMmYbvR3wjEAkCtEUIACjHgICJiCPA;ToAg1Cuoay0koJbTumkNNaYWA
When you go condition build you want to have some time to build up those conditions thus having some range and being able to kite is important that is why I use Scepter/Focus when I do my condition build. The burn on crit allows you to do both burning and bleeding while in earth atunement plus since your signets give you fire aura which gives you fury, swiftness, might (when hit), protection and causes burning I’d say this is the go-to build for survivability+condition damage.
The survivability however is minimal compared to that of a D/D healer set-up but its decent none-the-less
What you do need to watch out for is when you are fighting multiple enemies. 5 veterans is no problem but if there’s a bunch of trash mobs too it’ll take a looooong time and many downs to beat ’m all. Having an off-hand dagger with the AoE knockdown and bleed combined with the aoe fire field would compensate for it.
- I also recently calculated how much damage you would do if you used a cantrip spell-slinger S/D build for might-stacking and when you get 12 bleeds and a burn on your enemy that is 2000 dmg per second. With a power/crit build you should be able to do 2000 dmg per second to but then right from the start without having to wait to proc all those conditions on them.
Also you should know that condition damage is not burst but sustained damage thus this would not work in spvp or tpvp. Lots of people bring condition removal so….

Why not do both?
all the elementalists weapons are learn to play and when learning the delay of the scepter skills just don’t seem worth it which resulted in people thinking it was a bad weapon. Which it isn’t. Same for the focus. If I don’t bring a focus in my offhand I’m unable to take supply camps solo but in 1v1 encounters against players D/D is way better. General pve I’d say S/D is really good as a mightstacking booner. Staff is really fun in dungeons or in any group-play because of all its combo fields.
I think its a decent build and if it works for you then its fine and if you want to see if it is the best build just try running with a couple other builds and see what happens.
This is gonna make signets build more than viable compared to cantrips.
Rangers are fine mostly because one of their shout skills allow the pet to rez downed players. <- best skill ever for dungeons.
I’m sure any pvp type set up will do fine in pve.
I prefer the elementalist in dungeons but heavy armor types would probably do better. Like a warior or guardian. Just choose one that is really good at surviving and you’ll do fine. Not a whole lot of players out there that spec for tanking in dungeons I must say.
Malchors leap south-east parts between waypoint and the waterway. about 10 elder wood log trees and some other stuff.
easiest one by far is the small in southsun cove pearl islet waypoint I think. just go around the building and keep jumping up. should be done in 2 minutes or less.
D/D healer specced cantrip elementalist is the best support
just sell everything you find while lvling one 80 after the other getting full map completion etc. then one day you might end up with enough gold to buy yourself a legendary.
the elementalist build will only work in dungeons with parties and melee teammates. guardian build looks decent
I have that build and have been running it for 2 days now. You can actually run it with any weapon and if you equip some glyphs and spec the air traits into glyph traits you’ll be able to get perma regen and swiftness, 15 stacks of might if using glyphs and combo finishers.
I’m speccing into prec + condition dmg as a S/F since bleeds and burns are good even on toughness built monsters and peoples.
Beat normal monsters without even completing my full rotation.
I use arcane wave, glyph of storms, glyph of healing, glyph of elemental and one optional depending on situation. sometimes signet of air for a third blinding skill.
D/D survivability is beast and a great healer too.
S/F tanking condition beast
Staff combo healers with Evasiva Arcana is pretty nice too.
Even saw someone with a D/F
its a charr with a handy back-item
SKRITTT!!!!!! ooh shiny!
1. Tengu
2. Kodan
3. Largos
25% passive speedboost is the only reason why I don’t have to go D/D, glyph boon or signet boon build.
get lightning flash for those ow kitten moments.
in WvW I run 10/0/10/30/20 on my D/D build and am now testing an arcane build with S/F for dungeons but it seems to work pretty good in wvw too. am now able to take down supply camps solo. Though I do need to get some better armor and runes since its a healing armor which you don’t need if you have focus off-hand.
I agree that EA is the better choice but I don’t like dodging. I prefer to just jump in and use fire combo fields + cantrips for 15 might, stability, lightning flash and no conditions on me when I use dagger earth 5 and 2 to stack 9 bleeds with 15 might does a couple thousand damage. If you leave out the might in that burst your damage is pretty much negligible. With boon duration runes and food most of those boons will last for 30ish seconds. Might only 20+ seconds so that’s when you stack some vulnerability and go in for a fiere aura sling at them while you’re waiting for the other cooldowns.
I prefer S/F and go through dungeons without taking damage. Fire 1 and earth 1 are my primary condition dmg producers. Still need to get the condition gear so…
he will probably come at you with a zerker mesmer with shatter build. so get mistform or off-hand focus earth 5 and use it when needed, I prefer using Scepter-focus because it has alot of survivability and blocks and such. Its great against ranged attackers. Mesmers are mostly ranged so… also try and use fire aura when he uses the sword 2 of the mesmer.
depends on what utilities you use:
1 Arcana
Fire-2 adept
Air-7 master
Water-2 adept
Arcana-1,3,4 adept, 10 master, 12 grandmaster
Arcane build would have 10 in fire, 20 in air, 10 in water and 30 in arcana
2 Auras
Fire-9 master
Air-1 adept, 11 grandmaster
Earth-5 adept
Water-12 grandmaster
Aura build 20 fire, 10 earth, 30 water, 10 air.
3 Cantrips
Fire-2, 4 adept
Earth-3 adept
Water-3 adept, 9, 10 Master
Cantrip build 10 fire, 10 earth, water 20 with 30 to spare.
4 Conjures
not important for builds.
5 Glyphs
Air-3 adept, 8 master
Glyph build is 20 in air all else is optional.
6 Signet
Fire-2 adept, 9 master
Earth-2 adept, 12 grandmaster
Water-2 adept, 10 master
Arcana-10 master
Signet build 20 fire, 30 earth, water 20, arcana only causes some vulnerability.
Fire trait 9
signet gives fiery aura
It also depends on your playstyle. If you want to use all your atunements regularly and build lots of boons definately go 20 in arcane atleast. All else is pretty much to your own taste.
I tried a signet S/F build but the casting of the signets was too time-consuming. Time that I could’ve better used for casting other stuff. my signets did give me perma swiftness and perma fiery aura which was nice. Ow and perma fury just get the fire trait that gives fiery aura on signet use and the air trait that gives you fury and swiftness when you get a trait.
If you then up your condition damage anybody attacking you will die. Its nice since while you’re taking down one enemy all the other enemies receive fire damage.
Tried to do HotW with two people. With D/D cantrip build I died to the first group of mobs in 4 tries. With S/F we just beat them all nice and clean without getting downed even once.
try S/F arcane build, stack the might and get condition damage armor. Works like a charm in dungeons.
I used to do D/D in dungeons as a healer healing allies around me. But since the guardians and wariors do a fine job at that already with their shout builds I figured I’d try something different so I tried S/F and its amazing. Still wondering what runes and armor stats I should go for to complement the S/F weaponskills.
burst is king that’s why the 9 might for 20ish seconds during your burst is better than a continuous might stack.
air-earth-arcana concentrate on arcane spells for utility and traits.
So I combo’d some armor types and the tier 3 human chestpiece was the final addition:
scepter focus bleeding condition build
Hiya,

Hiya,
I know what you mean with a family like guild, had been searching for such a guild for about 2-3 months switching server 4+ times and finally found one, am in the piken square server. Its an active friendly guild where having fun is our main purpose. On the side we do pve, dungeons, jumping puzzles, exploration and lots of joking. Also tried some fractals and wvw.
