Yak’s Bend is a great server, have fun
elementalists D/D is well rounded
mesmer if you like kiting
warior for leeroy jenkins
guardian if you like helping people
Thief if you wanna see big numbers
necromancer if you wanna see alot of numbers
engineer if you dare
a fire axe would complement the lack of mobility of a scepter-focus build or staff build.
an ice bow is great for healing at range for D/D when getting up close is too dangerous.
an earth shield is just funny looking, great to show to y’r friends when y’r hanging round doin nuthin
Lightning Hammer is great but I feel so thor (soar) after using it.
Fiery greatsword is great for those Leeroy Jenkin moments.
As a D/D elementalist I’m specced for healing and boonduration with power and toughness as secondaries and some condition damage and vitality.
Utility skills:
Signet of healing
Armor of Earth
Signet of Air (Cleansing Flame for more power and condition removal)
Lightning Flash
Cantrips give me vigor, regen and 3x might.
My initial attack sequence is:
air 3-4-5-fire-3-4-earth-4-5-air signet and both cantrips while casting churning earth for 6 more might and a blind on enemy plus lightning flash for when they run-2-water-3-2-1-1-1-fire-2345-earth-3-3-2?-air-1-1-1-1 etc.
It is because of all you melee characters that I made a D/D healer specced elementalist
.
All my heals only affect the people around me so when I’m close-range/melee-range I heal and buff allies while doing pretty good damage and it feels like active combat. Compared to that you could go ranged and not enjoy the game much.
Sayin that ranged players get more reward is false since they are missing the thrill you melee guys get from being in close combat.
I play the game for fun, Fun is the reward and melee is where its at.
Depends on what armor you’re gonna get.
There was a system in gw1 that nullified any possibly farming you could do I think they added that to gw2. 90% of the karka shells I get is from on of the first three karka’s I kill after which it takes maybe 20 more to get another karka shell. I think the same happens to everything. The more a chest is looted the lower the chance to get good drops.
The reason that it was said that nothing had changed is because the loot automatically changes.
why not use both ranged and melee?
For unknown reasons people tend to shun fire traits and focus on zephyr’s boon while doing the 0/10/0/30/30 build. I’ve just realized that:
1 don’t need zephyrs boon
2 don’t like evasive arcana
3 gaining 3 stacks of might after using a cantrip which then lasts for 20ish seconds thanks to boonduration is awesome.
4 gaining protection when using an aura can save y’r life.
Because of these reasons I play 10/0/10/30/20
Only reason I do 30 in water is because I’m a healer and the 25th gives 2% extra damage per unique boon on you. If you figure that when you’re doing your spike you have 15ish might and 5-7 unique boons on you you can do quite a bit of damage while still being able to survive stuff.
I’ve beaten 0/10/0/30/30 elementalists in wvw with this build. Took a while and it was 4 am but yea… Try it to see it.
Also if you drop the 20 into arcana you can go for arcane power or arcane shielding.
I prefer arcane power since people and mobs will try to get your health down when y’r casting churning earth (don’t equip mistform though.)
sounds like you should maybe try a greatsword warior. They don’t ever need to swap weapons if you build ’m properly.
in the process of trying to get mystic clovers I got a ton of lodestones….
Could you maybe make video that shows off this build?
while in the water trait line you get some heals that do 100ish per skill cast add perma regen (another 200ish per second) then if you add in the healing signet you get 270ish per skill cast you’ll gain around 500 health per seconds and a few k healing when absolutely necessary.
Another thing is that instead you don’t need to worry about hitting the healing skill at the right time since playing a D/D ele takes alot of skill it kinda lightens the burden when you use the signet of healing you don’t need to worry bout that. All you need to do is swap to water and hit 2 and 5.
elementalist has light armor and the lowest base hp in the game why nerf their healing too? What we’d be left with is a paper that gets burnt by its own flame. Great mobility but the moment we move in we get blasted to bits.
You forgot to mention that churning earth is also a blast finisher. When you chain ring of fire- dagger(earth-4-5) you get 6 might right before hitting aoe with your highest hitting attack. That’s amazing synergy that you completely miss out on when you equip a useless though very shiny focus.
I think the focus was meant to be combined with the scepter but even then….
aw they found out
me as a D/D healer specced ele am able to keep 4 glass cannons on full health in any dungeon thanks to all the healing I do… Good thing I started making a guardian
I meant more like hidden shinies, things that you don’t normally come across like the kitten cave.
I’d say you’d do better just saving up what you are not sure to spend. Once you’re sure you want to buy something then buy it. Don’t just spend laurels because you have laurels but spend them when you find something you really really want.
I do 10/0/10/30/20 for extra might from cantrips and protection from auras. Don’t really like evasive arcana.
it was for my guildies
Designed some builds after some research on the forums and wikipedia.

Still working on my chestpiece but it looks decent for now.
just do a bit of everything like 4/6 PVT and 2/6 something with prec.
Ele’s need the healing power so they get healing/tough/power with some vit stuff on the side.
staff marks spam with fear mark closest to you then spectral grab someone right through a spectral wall and all the marks. Anybody tried that before?
Got a lvl 80 elementalist and I love shinies please tell me where to find ’m
What playstyle do you prefer? melee? kiting? mobility? support? dps? healing?
you could try do it once a week since the maps will rotate. You could try and go on a different server or as I did it you could try and do it in the mornings.
My thoughts were that the ele has very low base HP resulting in having to get vitality gear to not get 1-hit KO’d Necromancers already have that HP not only in base HP but also in DS. What I really hope to achieve is a balanced necro that is able to go rogue in wvw with decent mobility, survivability and damage while still being able to support.
I wanna fill all the roles
.
Stuff the Necro has and other classes don’t:
DS
Fear
Marks
Siphon health
If you get gear that improves crit chance and get the stuff that siphons health when critical hit you could gain even more health. Add in the perma regen with staff and the possibility of DS healing and spectral skills that recharge DS real fast should be able to have decent sustainability.
1. staff for siege and D/D heavy healing build for everything else.
2. it’ll take you a couple of weeks to fully grasp all the things that this class has to offer depends on how much time you spend playing it though.D/D with a lot of +Healing is for scrubs and bads.
I just like supporting allies… most heals heal allies too so…
healing with swords
adding y’r build to my bookmark now!
air 4-5-fire-3-4-5-earth-4-5-signet of air while doing 5- lightning flash if they’re running away plus other cantrip for more might- 2-water-3-2-1-1-1-1-1 for vulnerability which increases the bleeding damage done.
if they’re still alive for example its a champion or veteran y’r fighting: 5 for heal-4 more chill- fire – 3- 4- 2 etc.
I run full cleric gear with some sort of vitality+healing power accesories.
2 runes of water, 2 runes of the monk and 2 major runes of sanctuary.
sigil of force for 5% extra damage
sigil of health or something to stack more healing power
traits are: 10/0/10/30/20 because when you use your cantrips and use combo fields you get 7ish boons (+14% damage) +5% from sigil +15 might giving you decent damage.
result is a decent survivable healer with decent damage output. Not the best at any one thing but able to run with any group.
also instead of aurasharing I have the remove condition upon giving or getting regeneration which turns all your cantrips into condition removal spells.
(edited by Swimsasa Stoon.8936)
i dont know what stacks are in this game or what the ele needs to be effective. a bit of help
? plz
When you change attunements it is considered weapon swapping. You will need Sigil of battle for left dagger for might and for the right , sigil of perception or bloodlust, depending on your stats.
Might stack increases your pow.
and condition damage
1. staff for siege and D/D heavy healing build for everything else.
2. it’ll take you a couple of weeks to fully grasp all the things that this class has to offer depends on how much time you spend playing it though.
D/D ele in fire using 3+4, switch to fire axe hit 5-4-3 in those orders and you’ll have 4 fire fields and a fire aura… now if I was specced into condition damage this’d be awesome but I’m not and its still fun.
the aoe nerf talk has been going for over a week now.
I’d rather see them buffing classes that need buffing and if needed also buff the monsters a bit in stead of nerfing everything.
I noticed a weird glancing blow when I did churning earth on a target…
its because I need practice with the skills first and I might as well do that in pve
Good points you made. D/D eles are pretty close to melee range when you think bout it.
Melee range is 130. Most of the D/D ele skills are 300-400 range, some of them are longer. The only one that is melee-ish is “Ride the Lightning” which is a 1200 move to begin with.
Even as D/D eles are hardly a melee class.
Considering killshot on rifle can do 14k damage you could technically one-shot a badly played D/D ele at 1200 range.
Fixed that for you.
Cripples also are pretty much useless against a good D/D-ele since they effectively have 4+ condition removals.
And perma-swiftness, don’t forget about perma-swiftness.
The warior can have enough mobility to keep up or choose to go for some ranged but don’t expect to beat an elementalist with your hundred blades. More likely to win using whirling axe, sword-2 spamming to keep up + signet of rage with 30s swiftnes.
A few points about the rest of this:
- The warrior can only keep up with the 600 and 1200 dashes, not the 900 teleport
- Savage leap has a 8 second cooldown; hardly a spammable skill
- Whirling axes does nothing to help you chase a target
- 30s of swiftness is no comparison to perma-swiftness
- Chill/cripple hamper the distance of all your movement skills as a warrior
Until they remove the ele’s ability to combo in his own fields and buff himself with long durations of every known boon in existance, he’s going to be OP. Its just that simple.
Quite frankly I think since the boons are such powerful tools all the classes should be balanced out with the boon-production. I do agree that of all the classes the elementalist has the most possibilities for getting boons on the other hand they also have low base health, armor and attack power but the boons even then still make them too strong.
Plus the fact that he had to run away from you in the first place is proof that you are stronger.
the only time healing shouts really shine is in bigger groups since you heal everyone in the area for 2000 so if you have three of ’m… The survivability you create with multiple shout wariors is awesome! Same for multiple D/D healing elementalists.
go for healing shouts or re-roll as guardian.
move around with whirling axe. jump in with sword in main hand.
XD same here, lvl 51 warior with a GS/rifle, probably going back to the GS/sword-axe.
I seem to like seeing a lot of numbers go up which you get from whirling axe, hundred blades and flurry.
Elementalists – because they are:
Tanky.
Healy.
Crowd Controly.
Cowardly.
If you see a D/D Elementalist, don’t even bother attacking. You won’t win.
Nerf the sustain by half and it wouldn’t be so imbalanced.
Permanent chill, godly mobility, and sustain.
Wariors have triple the HP, double the armor and double the attack power too.
Just take a rifle and kill ‘m with y’r 1200 range, D/D have very low range. All three which are essentially useless against an D/D Elementalist.
Triple the Health? Elementalists have more “effective Health” due to all their healing, invulnerability and escape abilities.
Double the Armour? One word: Protection. 33% raw damage reduction beats our Heavy Armour hands down.
Double the Attack Power? Depends on build. Also, most of it is melee.
However the one point that nulifies it all for sure is the Elementalists ability to just simply run away. Ride The Lightning, go! Teleport, go! Mist/Vapour Form, go! If an Elemetalist doesn’t want to fight you, he/she won’t fight you. If they do want to fight you, however, you’re not getting away as a Warrior.

What would you say considering above mentioned points?

Thanks
that does look like a good build
It does require alot of skill though to get the 14 seconds of protection, another problem is the long cooldowns on the spectral skills.
already exped a mesmer….astonished in difference of dmg…..
only downside is i have more issues at ressing downed players. But when i see people talking of damage from an ele…
That IS math…..
Unless you put some absurd reasoning like if my ranger does 10.000 Single target, your ele has to do 2500 max with aoe….but you are right, i have a mesmer so i’ll let anet destroy even this PvE build like they did b4 with other.
I still wonder why in higher lvl fractals i NEVER find any D/D ele…..
being almost the only. And this when you pro were still talking about how bad ele was….
Now that is fotm PvP it seems everyone is suddenly an expert ele player…..
Clearly a problem of L2P….also of don t speak of something you don t know mostly….I have a D/D ele friend who is at fotm 50. Not only this, but they even run a 5 ele party with no issue. When recruiting pugs, I see a fair few eles at the higher levels still. If you’re not seeing them I’m guessing it’s because pugs don’t want them. They are there though. Sometimes when recruiting I get whispered by other pugs in the group to kick the eles and rangers that join, which is just awful really.
that vid with the PVT ele?
my comment is: “awesome guardian”……the difficult part of the stage being saving hostages explain itself…..so suggest to watch it.Note: i am a D/D ele……so if they accept myself they won t refuse Others…..
Never been refused by a pug party…..I play almost only FOTM and dungeons
I saw 2 till today
Those 2 i met were possibly a second character because they didn t use a SINGLE combo.
I see some with staff (not impressing btw).
Its possible all D/D eles are on US servers…..or just i never met one for any other reason.
P.S. despite i m not at fotm 49 it seems so strange to me that in this forum there are so many awesome ele and i cannot meet any…..
Also people seems to like how i play and tell me i m good (that i know doesn t mean i am but that suggests they don t find many good eles either around…..).
I just started doing fractals, just for the monthly though. Am working on my D/D elementalist and just switched over to the european server Piken Square.
I’m specced into healing and in most boss-fights I can keep my team alive. Problem is the light armor, some boss-spikes instantly kill me. I figure this could end up being a problem at higher fractal lvls but I won’t know till I get there.
I’ve tried it out a bit and found that the conditions you get from the corruption skills last for such a short time that the boons you get from them aren’t worth it.
at the top of the mount maelstrom jumping puzzle with Mhenlo’s armor and tier 2 human hat.
