I like the support of the guardian but I prefer ranged primarily and guardian ranged just doesn’t do it for me

30 in water gives access to the aurasharing trait.

crits at lower lvls are very very powerful.
Try equiping signet of fire and put all up to 25 into air traits.

All you need to know is that bunker builds still are the best for spvp/tpvp. Burst builds are more like average dps glass cannon type builds = useless. This feature is completely broken and that’s why you don’t see many true pvpers (other than those that enjoy annoying another player/s with being bunker) participating in spvp/tpvp. You will only find really good players with various type of builds per profession if you roam in wvw.

I’m sorry but statement is completely false. There’s plenty of skilled players running damage builds in tPvP. Elementalists can land a 10k fire grab with the right 0/20/0/20/30 s/d build.

I just saw a video of a necromancer doing 27000 damage in the Arah dungeon.

I used to only bring avatar of melandru as an elite. Until I figured that I lacked power not healing/support so I equiped fiery greatsword instead.

You pretty much have to use the jumping puzzles, the drop rate on badges is as bad as the drop rate for everything else in the game.

I killed 35 people and got 3 badges out of it a couple days ago, that’s unacceptable.

hadn’t wvwvw in a while but I got 4 badges from 3 people….

Pets don’t hit enemies anyways so pet damage being reduced won’t matter at all.
It’d be awesome though if y’r own damage went up.

What about an elite skill that makes you look like the enemy? You get revealed the moment you start attacking them or something? It’d be op but fun.

I think you best shot would be to constantly knock down a foe. Problem is that it doesn’t work on bosses and only works on one target.
Something like mace-shield+hammer with physical utility skills.
Might work for pvp though…. Maybe… if you don’t get kited or the opponnent brings stun breakers or stealth or clones or Deathshroud or stability or…. ya know… nevermind.

I don’t think its viable but for amulets it should be Rabids and rune of the undead, just to go all-out on the condition damage.

Ranger, mesmer, guardian are all good dps and decent in pvp without being impossible to play.

Elementalist Dagger/Dagger <- as much spellblade as you can get from any class.
Guardian Sword/Focus+Greatsword
or the Mesmer with Greatsword+Sword/Pistol.
You could even play Necro with Dagger/Dagger but its not something I prefer.

But if you like hack and slash I’d go for the guardian or the elementalist.

I think you’d enjoy Necromancer since you like health-stealing and you need the extra healthpool that the necromancer has. With a minion army you won’t need to click a whole lot and you only need f1 for deathshroud. So no stance dancing.

WvW is part of the game, you’re griping that it is a part of the game because you are one of the few that don’t enjoy WvW even though its one of the most fun aspects of the game. But you are entitled to your own opinion. Just kinda sounds like you wanna play a shooter game without guns…

me farming anywhere without magic find for 2 hours will net me around 60 silver maybe and with magic find somewhere around 1 gold an hour.
But doing all the world bosses for rares nets more gold since you’re guaranteed a rare which you can salvage for ectos or outright sell on the tp.

use laurels from daily and monthly and buy the heavy crafting material bags. Sell all mats except T6 dust and then buy more T6 dust from TP.
Or you can get a ton of T5 dust and upgrade those?

I watched a video on youtube showing something similar. He kinda insta killed anything that he had targetted.
First you RTL in and air-no.5 him down. (traits+sigil that give you 30% more dmg on knocked-down foes) air-2, arcane blast, arcane wave (prob sigil that does lightning thing on crit) but I forgot what he did afterward. All I remember is that nothing survived.

Eles are more on par with rangers at lvl 80. But at the lower lvls the ranger is definately superior. But no worries, they’re gonna nerf ranger pets soon so…

I then bring glyph of storms in earth atunement for lots and lots of blinds+magnetic aura (duh). I then cast 2 in earth+fire2+meteor shower+ fiery greatsword no. 5+ ice bow no. 4 and by then I can cast no. 2 of fire again.

If they don’t run or burst me down they die, which happens almost never but its fun none-the-less.

one thief is no problem for me. First I act weak by not healing till the very last moment, he’ll be half health by then and I just cast a bunch of PBaoe’s near him or when he’s attacking. Then when he stealths I predict where he’s gonna go with my spidey sense and burst him down with a couple more PBaoe’s.
Sounds like I’m joking but I’m not. Only times I get beat by thieves is when they bring in another thief.

I beat the fire elemental solo before they nerfed it and buffed the loot.
Now with the bonus chest and nerfed bossfights its more of a community meet-up.

I wouldn’t kick someone for that.
I did the oppossite once. Got together a leveling crew to do AC and we had difficulty at one part so I brought my elementalist with frost bow to beat that part. Afterwards I just went back to my lower lvl character.

Indeed. It’s also nice to see that people started to use proper dps builds for guardians as well. Still waiting for classes like engineer, ranger, necro and elementalist.

Elementalists are slowly getting out of their shells too. Doing 11k dmg with a healing standard bunker build just doesn’t give us an incentive to sacrifice our bunker for a few more k dmg as we are the class with the lowest hp+armor.

Please when you see an AoE field put there by an elementalist use a blast finisher!!!! Or attleast bring one. 1 blast finisher in a water field can heal for 2k health! blast finisher in fire field is 3 might aoe for 20 seconds!!!

We elementalists use sta kitten to put down the most AoE fields but we don’t have enough blast finishers to trigger maximum power out of ’m.

I have see people use it with static field for more swiftness and sometimes with guardians for retaliation but please use ‘m more! They’re amazing!

if you want alot of tagging foes go for a 15/15/15/15/10 D/D just because you can.
otherwise 0/20/0/30/20, S/D, zerker gear because it can burst alot of stuff in a matter of seconds.

play chess and learn how to predict where your enemies move without needing to see them move. Like a kungfu master ^^. That’s how I do it anyways.

if you have the trait that lets your pet have the boons you have would that double the boons on your pet from RaO?
Also there’s the trait that gives your pet might when you crit and sword auto attack gives might to your pet… I wish I could see how much might my pet would get. Add the shout sick’m for 40% more dmg and speed+maybe quickening Zephyr for quickness on pet too?
Anyone tried it before?

ranger-elementalist (fiery arrows all over the place)
Warior-Necro (minions with any melee class works decent)
Guardian-elementalist (access to all boons quite easily+sharing them)
and as Ethics said before, 2 thieves do insane damage if y’r gonna do pvp alot I’d say its best if you both learn how to play thief right from the start since they’re pretty hard to learn2play.
Quite frankly I’ve never in any situation survived the assault of 2 thieves for more than 5 seconds.

sylvari with mushroom head+heritage armor looks pretty decent as a mesmer, all black with purple highlights.

make a skinny sylvari ranger with squinty eyes and long ears black hair and some sort of awesome looking glowy color.

Overall the Sylvari are one of the most fun races to play.

Hey i know i may be asking a stupid question but really i have spent a lot of time trying to find what to wear as a boon\ i don’t die guardian tank i guess not focusing on healing just boon and health and toughness. WHAT IS THE BEST ARMOR SET TO WEAR!

Soldiers (Power/vitality/toughness) or Sentinel (Vitality/power/toughness).
Soldiers can be acquired from 3 dungeons (AC, HotW and I think SE).
Sentinel can only be crafted or bought from TP at the moment.
I would still throw in some cleric gear for some healing power since guardians have sooo many ways to heal themselves it’d be a wast not to spec into it a little bit.
Clerics can be bought on Trading Post or crafted as well.

For boonduration:
2 Superior rune of the water
2 major rune of sanctuary <- Honor of the Waves dungeon from which you can also get Soldier gear.
2 superior rune of the monk <- Ascalonion Catacombs from which you can also get Soldiers gear.

Also the greatsword from both AC and HotW have pretty sweet skins and they got PVT.

most basic base build in pvp I’d say is 15/15/15/15/10, do a match tweek it a bit, another match tweek a bit more and you’ll probably end up going for 0.10.0.30.30 in the end since the only good grandmaster traits we have are in water and arcana which are also two stats that most people would say are the most important stats for an elementalist.

But I’d start out with 15/15/15/15/10 based around D/D set-up with cantrips.

As for PvE I personally prefer 0/20/0/30/20 because it allows you to use signets, arcane, glyphs, cantrips, staves, scepters, daggers, foci without having to completely rework your traits.

I have duels like that too and its alot of fun but then I’ve never won because there’d always be another thief that popped out of nowhere to insta-kill me.
Nothing ya can do about it except Knocking him down and running away.
Also pistols don’t hit through walls and alot of PBaoe’s do so its nice if you hit churning earth right around a corner and use camera to keep watch to get the timing right for a lightning flash

Since last patch I’ve been constantly getting disconnected, me and attleast 3 of my guildmates are suffering from the same problem. Before this I’ve had the party bug and guild bug that prevented me from doing dungeons or partying up or seeing my guildmates.
This is on a whole new scale of annoying as it completely closes gw2 and I have to restart and after 20-60 minutes it disconnects again…

glad y’r enjoying pvp I made a mesmer and am already earning just as much glory with my mesmer as I was with my elementalist :p.

So I just started playing the mesmer and I made up a mantra build…
Use Sword/focus + staff, 4 mantras and elite cloak for when I need to charge my mantras. Have only been doing pvp for 1 day and already outmatching my elementalist that I played for over 1000 hours…. Kinda sad. But anyways:
any tips for noobie mesmer?

I had the same problem with my bunker elementalist. So I raged and randomly changed traits to 15/15/15/15/10 and got divinity runes and cleric amulet.
It works for me, maybe it’ll work for guardian too? You got nothing to lose right?

you can’t kill a thing with a staff unless you have an ally with you. You’re more like a supporter on the side-line cheering y’r allies on compared to D/D where you’re the one doing actual damage and controlling the battlefield.

The moment you are seen as a staff ele is the moment you die.

Scepter is too slow for pvp. I also switched to dps in pvp and have found a build that works for me:

Will give you alot of pbaoe skills so all you gotta do is stick to whomever you’re fighting and just keep doing rotations.

y’r survivability will be average and damage will be average but because of the large amount of attacks you’ll do in a short amount of time you could call it somewhat of a continuous burst.

Only problem is the low cooldown on elemental atunement swap. Aka the build isn’t perfect but it works.

The build i’m running with is ok, i’m not gonna change it, that is probably the best dps build for ele (really similar to Phantaram build, he is the best dps ele out there).
Your build is not dps (not saying is not good), cause you’re using cleric jewel, that’s more bunkerish, i always used cleric with DD and 0-0-10-30-30, but now i wanna try something different.
I’m having problems with scepter not becuase is slow, but because is too fast, rotations are crazy and if u lose 1 second you’ll die, especially when i try to combine Updraft with Dragon’s Tooth, i really need some advice for helping me survive!

only fast scepter skills are air 2 and 3 and water 1. The rest are all channeling skills and thus slow. Even if the attackkitten for more you won’t be able to put out more hits than a D/D elementalist. I tend to hit 1-2k dmg per attack and I can do a ton of attacks in just a couple seconds. Stat wise it might not be a dps build but with the damage you do on atunement swap through traits and sigil plus all the instant cast pbaoe’s you have as a D/D you could certainly consider it a dps build but with some survivability.

I tend to do as much or more damage than them zerker wariors with my fiery greatsword plus with my boonstacking I’m able to survive and support my allies. I have no idea why a dungeon running party wouldn’t want that…
