It’s such a shame they didn’t bring it back, it’s one of the few things that the vast majority of the community really enjoys.
With the current trend of removing anything even vaguely challenging or complicated I have a feeling we won’t be seeing SAB return for a long while. They could literally turn it on right now, worlds 1 and 2, and there would be a huge outpouring of support for Anet doing something right for a change.
It’s just more evidence that anet are utterly out of touch with what players actually want.
I remember the first time I played GW2. I walked out into Queensdale, there was the symbol of the scales on my map, all shiny and new, so I walked over to them. There was a man in a fancy hat below the symbol. At this point I was getting slightly confused, I’d already wet myself. I pressed F and a new window appeared, I wasn’t sure what was happening, I thought my game was broken, there were all these words and symbols and I just didn’t know what to do. By this time I was laying on the floor in the fetal position, weeping softly.
Sometimes I still have nightmares about that day.
Thanks Anet for removing the confusing horror that was TP traders in starter zones.
It’s funny. People wanted this game to be more like Guild Wars 1 and in Guild Wars 1, holiday festivals were almost exactly the same for a year at a time.
Almost the same, you use a lot of weasel words Vayne.
Halloween 2011 — Introduced new costumes, Costume Brawl disguises, and Scarred Psyche (a new challenge mission); the rewards for GvG were reduced. About two weeks after the end of the event, two Halloween 2011 hat givers, Aahtan and Erulis, were introduced and appeared for one week.
Halloween 2010 — Added Tyrian and Elonian quest chains; introduced new costumes, Costume Brawl disguises, and a Costume Brawl map; added Trick-or-Treat Bag rewards and new NPC disguises to GvG.
Halloween 2009 — Added Underworld quest chain.
Halloween 2008 — Added a new map to Costume Brawl.
Halloween 2007 — Added Costume Brawl and Trick-or-Treat Bags
Halloween 2006 — Added a finale, decorations, and collectors to Kamadan
Halloween 2005 — Introduced Halloween; initial decorations were in Lion’s Arch, Droknar’s Forge, and the Tomb of the Primeval Kings; initial collectors across Tyria; original finale in Lion’s Arch.
If they just add blood and madness back in with no new content at all then it will be the first time they’ve done this since the release of GW.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/upcoming-events-in-guildwars2/
“Later in October, we’ll be bringing back our famous Halloween festivities! Blood and Madness will be returning to Guild Wars 2 on October 21 and remain active until the return of Season 2.”
Soooo… is that it? Nothing new this Halloween, just the same thing as last year? That’s pretty sad. Does anyone else feel kinda let down by this?
It looks pretty.
And SAB was cool.
Hm…
Nope, that’s all I got.
No RC golem chess mini game.
First it’s no SAB and now this? NOW THIS?!
WHY DON’T YOU JUST TAKE MY HEART ANET, WHY DON’T YOU TAKE THAT TOO.
(edited by Swizzle.7982)
Anet could have tied colours to wvw ranks. There you go, problem solved, so simple.
Instead they did the normal kitten stuff they always do, so it’s rainbow doritos forever.
Besides that, it’s funny to annoy those people who get annoyed by commander tags in PvE, I mean really, you need someone to tell you were to stand?
We had a total of 6 minutes to burn; however when we returned from the battery event, this commander stayed in his position which was close enough to make people think that this was the stacking position for the burn; however, this wasn’t and I noticed this. People got sucked into the vortex and we failed the burn.
Don’t blame people for making you stand in the wrong place, you have a functioning brain, you can figure out where to stand on your own I’m sure.
The thought process, I imagine, went something like this: Character > Cartoon Character > Cartoon > Toon.
It really does sound dumb.
I’m glad they removed this feature. One time I took a bucket of water to a cow and then tried feeding the bags of cow food to the plants. For a full 5 hours I was sat there wondering what had gone wrong before I uninstalled the game.
Also, it’s not only bundles that have been removed. The RC golem game in metrica province just outside Rata Sum is deactivated. Anet, you are seriously butchering your own game, please stop it.

That means it is an assumption by Vayne, and not actual (or factual) knowledge.
Exactly, as I said at the start, he’s just making kitten up.
That question’s been answered. He has a friend who follows the Chinese version updates and stuff: this one.
No, it wasn’t answered and keeps being ignored. How does he know anything about what happens on the test server? Not the chinese servers, the test servers.
apparently works on the test server but didn’t work properly when the game went live.
This. How do you know this.
As an example, the compass works perfectly in China, apparently works on the test server but didn’t work properly when the game went live.
How do you know this, do you have a source for that? And what about the completely messed up scaling issues, how were those not detected? What about the gated things that aren’t meant to be gated? How did those mysteriously change between test builds and our version?
Sounds like you’re just making kitten up to be honest.
Sounds like an awful lot of backpedaling to me. Either that or the people testing the game, if there are any at all, are incredibly incompetent.
“- There are bugs! We’ve seen the content direction system (the little arrow) pointing people at super high level maps when it shouldn’t, some systems/features not unlocking as intended for all characters on your account once your first learns them, some systems level gated that aren’t intended to be, balance issues where certain levels appear to be very out of whack, etc. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, our team is working to figure out what happened here and fix these as quickly as possible.”
Sure, there are always going to be bugs. But for the whole system to be completely and utterly wrong and instantly detectable by anyone who might have decided to actually play this content, well, that’s a whole new level of unbelievability. I really hope these are just excuses to revise most of the changes, because if the whole thing is really as messed up as Colin is saying then I think it might be time to pack up and move on, for both devs and players.
- Over a years worth of testing
A few of the very low level hearts > level 6 have had their functions changed because bundle items, and other functions were moved up to higher leveled areas and taken from the lower ones. To give played the chance to learn what they have at their disposal before getting things like environmental weapons. They aren’t gone long at all.
It’s a pointless and stupid change. When you do those early hearts you have what now, two skills?! You’re seriously telling me IT WAS TOO HARD to understand that you feed a cow by picking up a bag of feed? This was difficult to learn how?
It’s no easier to learn now either. In fact it may be harder. Instead of the first heart having bundles (and introducing them) they are held back. So people who play are now going to understand that all you do is press F on things, then at level 8 or 9 when they actually have to go back to doing things they’ll be just as confused.
Of course in actuality no one will be confused by any of this, because most people are not pants on head kittened. If they wake up in the morning and dress themselves without burning their house down they can kitten well feed a motherkittening cow.
What level do I unlock fun?
I don’t understand the assumption that only veterans hate these changes. There was an uproar in china because these changes were terrible. The chinese players certainly weren’t veterans. What makes you think new players enjoy being treated like idiots after they load into queensdale and see very little to do but dance for cows with two skills unlocked?
I know that if this had been gw2 when I played during the beta weekends then that would have been the last time I’d played it.
‘tens of thousands of usability testers’
This is what gets me every time. If Anet have TENS OF THOUSANDS OF kittenING TESTERS for anything why is their game a bug riddled dumbed down piece of garbage?
You need to fire all ten thousand of these usability testers right now.
How much drugs it takes now to enjoy this game now?
I’m heavily medicated and I’m not having any fun at all.
You can’t read a book without first knowing how to read.
And you can’t play video games without being able to play video games. I think there’s your problem.
We don’t need all the words in our books replaced with pictures just because some people didn’t finish school.
How conditions and the condi cap work.
How the mystic toilet works.
Maybe there should also be a tutorial on the only tactic in the game: learning to all stand in one place right on top of each other. Maybe they could put big blue markers on the floor in dungeons and out in the world with a big arrow that says ALL STACK HERE. Like permanent stationary doritos for when all the commanders are busy being swag.
(edited by Swizzle.7982)
Yeah same thing different name (level req same as now only different now is you can’t have 3 lvl 80 with you to do full story). they changed the way the PS are ran so its still feels like its continual.
The level requirement is not the same at all, nor is it continual. You don’t even GET a story until level 10, then once you finish that you have to wait till you’re level 20 to unlock the next few missions. This is a terrible way to tell stories or structure quests in any video game, or anywhere for that matter.
Imagine reading a book and at the end of each chapter you’re FORCED to just sit there for twenty minutes until the next chapter is available, even though the whole book is right there, in your hands. Imagine watching something on TV, when suddenly bam, off it goes, and you just have to sit there watching ads for five minutes. No one enjoys that, it’s not fun.
Finally some directions to when would be a good time do run PS rather then wait till level 80 and do it all in one go X.X
Personal story quests always told you the recommended level for doing them. There was usually only 1 or 2 levels between them, so it was a nice continuous story up to level 80. Now you complete the story quests in the space of about 2 levels and then for 8 more you just grind.
I’d like to see the system that was in GW2 a few days ago. That worked pretty well.
Maybe they could add in an optional tutorial mission for combo fields.
There you go. Fixed.

What the game really needs is some kind of reminder system.
I’ve been playing for over 78 hours straight but haven’t had any tool-tips telling me to eat or wash or go to the bathroom, so I’m just sat here in a pile of my own feces, thanks Anet.
Is there a small group of players that they are listening to who give these awful ideas or do they genuinely believe that we’d like this?
I think the group they’re listening to are called corporate shills, the kinds of people who haven’t played a video game in their life but come up with great ideas for attracting new demographics. Or as everyone else calls it, ruining video games.
Skill points unlock at level 60.
(Or buy VIP access, only 1000 gems per month!)
But salvaging isn’t unlocked until level 6!
It’s fine guys, stop complaining, their metrics told them that goggles were too confusing. It’s for the best, I mean, this game isn’t designed for you, the players, it’s designed for some other people, people who don’t play GW2.
Are you saying no changes in this patch have been asked for?
Other than automatically having minis out (which is broken) what exactly was asked for? I don’t remember anyone asking for leveling to be changed. In two years I don’t recall ever seeing a thread on these forums about how leveling from 1 to 10 was too confusing.
If you can manage to put your clothes on in the morning, feed yourself, and turn on a PC you can grasp the basics of a video game as simple as GW2 was pre-feature pack.
These changes were made for one reason, to sell VIP packs in china and to sell level up scrolls in the US/EU. Mark my words.
And people wonder why Anet won’t talk to them.
No, people wonder when Anet lost their mental faculties and decided to make changes to a good game based on the metrics of non-gamers and the ability of their gem store to drain the income of whales. That’s what they wonder.
“In most games, you go out, and you have really fun tasks, occasionally, that you get to do, and the rest of the game is this boring grind to get to the fun stuff. ‘I swung a sword. I swung a sword again. Hey! I swung it again.’ That’s great. We just don’t want players to grind in Guild Wars 2. No one enjoys that. No one finds it fun.” ~ A Sword Swinging Backpeddler
I’m glad my engi finally has a shotgun, and I think the sound fits perfectly. If it was longer and sleeker it wouldn’t really be a shotgun would it, more like a double barrelled rifle.
Should the original SAB skins be rereleased?
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: Swizzle.7982
I can understand there being some prestigious items that are rare because they were limited to specific events, like the karka backpack and the watchnight tonic, but SAB returns over and over, and perhaps one day will be a permanent addition.
I don’t think many people at all would be against the old skins returning, especially now they added what are arguable more prestigious, skill based (or patience based), alternate SAB skins.
I don’t understand why anyone would want a melee weapon on the engi, could someone explain it?
I mean we have the tool kit, it sucks, would a hammer be much better? And if it would because of better skills why not just redo the tool kit skills.
I don’t really understand what function it would serve that isn’t already done by thieves, warriors or guardians and isn’t done better by them.
If they don’t cycle the old skins again, what will they offer next time?
The only things left are the three underwater weapons.
Unless they add a whole bunch of new weapons to the game itself before SAB returns again.
Perhaps the engineer could get an extra weapon slot, which sort of acts as a skin slot for the engineers backpacks and turrets.
For instance there could be an asura engi pack that made the flame thrower and back pack look asuran, turrets look asuran, etc. Similar things could be done for other races, like plant themed skins for the sylvari. Then it’d even be possible to make a legendary pack, which gave weapon kits and turrets new looks.
Such a system could even be expanded to other classes, perhaps different styles of necro minions, different shatter effects for mesmers, different style spirit weapons and so on. Where the end game is basically decking your character out in fancy new kitten, more customisation options mean more money for anet.
I am a poor student
I spent all my cash on gems
1) What did the gods message to kerrsh mean:
“An offering to those who seek”
“Beyond the mists beyond the dreams”
“On distant shores of a land unwaking”
“Answers there lie in waiting”
If you think of mists as mist on the sea, it points to Orr, but there weren’t many answers there about the eternal alchemy. So perhaps it means the actual mists, but how can there be anything beyond the mists.
2) The origins of the asura, its mentioned they aren’t as old as dwarves, but there’s no mention of where they came from. It’s as if they just magically appeared underground one day.
3) The old gods that came before abaddon, like arachnia:
“Arachnia is the name of a dead spider god which is said to be older than Abaddon and the other Human Gods.Arachnia is never mentioned directly in the game, however, within the gw.dat there are descriptions of landmarks that bring up the name a couple times alongside mention of “gods of insectoid beings.”
Even if it wasn’t mentioned in GW1, it was seen, most of the realm of tormented was made of giant dead insects and spiders.
More info on insectoid elder gods would be awesome.
4) Kanaxai and the nightmare horde. There’s just no info on him at all, other than he’s a demon.
5) Livia and the Scepter of Orr.
6) What happened to Evennia, her ghost isn’t in ascalon.
7) Bahltek, how did he know about things in Arah, like the mursaat dimension and the Jotun’s work with stars.
8) What was the Mysterious Lich about.
Interesting that all these are really questions about GW1… a game which actually had interesting lore.
9) Why did Chauncey von Snuffles III come second, was it rigged? Was it part of a Mursaat plot to retake kryta? Were rumors of a stone dwarf on the judging panel true? Was the winning cat actually the colossus in disguise?
All the titans the charr found 200 years seem to have disappeared – I suspect that it was just one titan, Saevio Proelium, who was captured by the Order of Whispers
Saevio Proelium could have been one, though that’s never hinted at. It’s also stated the the Charr discovered gods (plural) in Hrangmer. The flickering flame quest in the realm of torment strongly suggests that Ignis Cruor was one of the titans the charr found:
Scorch Emberspire: “The Charr have always found strength in the flames. When the Titans appeared before our people in a towering inferno, we knew that surely these must be our gods.
Through our gods our people found a purpose, one that bound us together and drove us onto a path of conquest. Following signs from the gods, we cut a swath of destruction into the lands of men. Victory was our birthright. Fire and steel became the hands with which we would grasp it.
Always toward Arah, where the gods once lived. All that awaited us there was death. What sort of god would lead its people to destruction? To think that I would ever be graced by the presence of a god….
I have come all this way to prove my faith. We have done all that you have asked, and yet I still find myself in this purgatory. How have we failed you?”
Ignis Cruor: “Impudent creature… I have no further use for you. Your presence offends my sense. Begone!”
The follow up quest has you kill two more titans, Securis Phasmatis and Letum Contineo, those may also have been the original titans found by the Charr.
It was never really explained what the Titans were doing in Hrangmer, if they escaped, or if they’d been hiding there since Abaddon was sealed away.
It was also never established what happened to all the Titans that the Charr found, or how many they found (Ignis Cruor was likely one of them, who was killed in the realm of torment). We know that the Charr stopped worshipping them and that most Titans were killed, but as we never went to Hrangmer in GW1 there’s always the possibility that some might still be there, even up to the present in GW2.
Maybe the flame legion keep there ex-gods as pets, who knows…
Rocket Boots – Passive effect: Move 25% faster.
Just make gadgets signets in all but name. Also the stuff about signets being magical is just plain wrong. How do you explain signets on a warrior? However you explain it, you could make up a similar excuse for engineers.
They should make a slot for turrets, so you can equip skin packs or something similar. Then you could have asuran magitech turrets, sylvari style plant turrets and so on.
More customization like this could be done for other classes too. Like shatter skins for mesmers, giving them things other than butterflies, or different styles of necro minions.
Warriors are massively overpowered in PVE. There are some classes that are massively underpowered in comparison.
That’s about it.
Spears on land? Maybe they’re going to add everyone’s favourite abomination from GW1, or had plans to add them at one point. I think in an early piece of art it showed scythes and some other weapons that aren’t currently used too.
Actually, a completely redesigned paragon could be pretty interesting, they could fit somewhere between guardian and ele, as ranged support, shouting and throwing magical spears.
engineer need nerfs I saw one take 10 minutes to kill bear grenades hit to many targets they arent aoe class hahaha
Time + Budget.
“Testing is expensive, and people give us money anyway, lets not do it!”
Sounds like EA.
I think that turrets, being immobile pets, should have the highest health (in pve at least). Surely that would make perfect sense? As it is now they can’t move and get destroyed in one hit, and for some strange reason always seem to draw aggro instantly.
