I don’t use portal. I still use greatsword.

Or just ask ANet to raise the limits, since we’re NOT all flooding into LA and are spread out; also keep an eye on the 2RP thread for when the server is open; possibly jump to Piken Square in the meantime so you are around roleplayers, and then jump in to TC when it opens.
A lot of roleplayers on TC are competitive in WvW and PvE as well, so it’s not like it’s an either/or thing. We’re just active in a lot of aspects of the game, and it shows.
Tarnished Coast
I love this game.
Tarnished Coast
Since Sylvari son’t breed, they have no need for sex.
The devs have stated that they do have sex and do because it feels nice.
People and animals in RL have non-reproductive sex all the time.

We’ve pretty much had our say. We tried. We’re leaving. We’ll be gone completely soon. Then you can sift through the rubble of Tyria in peace.
I am a former GW1 player, as is my roomie, and we’re not leaving.
Sure, we’ve got our issues with GW2, but we’d rather stay and voice our opinions so that the devs know players like us are around, want to stick around, and know that we will support the game (they know how much I’ve spent on the cash shop and I am willing to keep doing so if they don’t go overboard with gear progression) if they keep us in mind in their future design decisions.
We’re part of this community and ANet does listen. They do make mistakes, but they’re treading new ground. If they don’t turn their backs on their diehrd fans, I think it’ll be okay.
Tarnished Coast
I like new cosmetic items, but having started early, I’ve got items and such that they may never have. So it all balances out, imo.

Welcome to TC!
If you used to play with action figures or whatever as a kid, you know what it’s like to roleplay.
Regarding vulgarity: depends on the guild. Regarding speaking OOC: people can generally tell when one is roleplaying or not. If you want to talk OOC when approaching an RP hotspot, speak (( like this )) and folks will know you aren’t in character.
RPers on TC are mostly nice and mellow. There are a few weirdos (as there are in any human endeavor), but if people are rude or creepers, report and block. They’re the exception and not the rule.
Woodenpotatoes has a lore channel on youtube. You can also read up on the wiki. You can also visit guildwars2roleplayers.com and post in the ‘looking for guild’ topic, explaining that you are new to roleplaying and would like to join a guild or meet folks who can help ease you in.
Re: r-rated stuff: if you must (if you’re this new to RP I don’t see why it would come up but since someone above mentioned it!), do yourself a favor and do it in a home instance, or even more safely, offline. Regulars know that the /say range is ginormous and people always mischan. Since GW2 is a teen-rated game, keeping public channels clean is pretty important and is respectful of the wider community.
(Mine is only like four people and is not presently an RP guild, even though I am part of some RP guilds, or I would offer an invite.)

I hate RNG, and I took NCSoft at their word that it wasn’t required. That’s why I avoid most things that rely on it for loot, courtesy of another NCSoft game, AION.
So I’ll likely keep avoiding Fractals.

I’ve never had a problem with orr. Seriously, I’m honestly befuddled at that “mesmers can’t farm orr” statement.
I did until I stopped bothering with ranged weapons.
But I know a few mesmers who do all right with staff or GS, too. For me, I found that I never tagged anything in time at range.
Tarnished Coast
I farm Orr just fine. Switch to sword/anything, have a sigil of superior fire on one of your weapons and whatever else you want on the other, trait yourself to act like a clone, shatter f1 and f2 with or without clones, swing 1 wildly, and hit 2 when you’re in the middle.
Sparkles everywhere!
Yes, you do die sometimes, but you’ll usually pop right back up with no damage.
Tarnished Coast
Missed the event by less than an hour because I was sick. T_T Unlike some others, received no chest in the mail.

Thank you guys so much for working on the fixes whilst communicating so clearly and promptly. It’s very much appreciated and I look forward to this continuing. <3

I like Trahearne. I’m not trolling.
I like him, too. I can understand why he’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but the calls for his death (and Logan’s, and Kormir’s) are a bit much.
Kormir deserves it. Logan just deserves to be slapped silly, and Trahearne mostly just needs a week of dinner at Hooters, bro’s been stuck in Orr for his entire life.
Tarnished Coast
I like Trahearne. I’m not trolling.
Isn’t that just trolling? :P
No, I do like Trahearne. It’s sad that I actually have to clarify that I’m not trolling people when I say that. These forums are a warzone though, so what can you do.
I like him too. He is my leafy bro. <3
Tarnished Coast
I’ve gotten tier 3 human weapon skins— the staff and sword, respectively— from story rewards.
Tarnished Coast
That would be nice, too.
Or GW1’s option of turning on costume piece and it being visible instead of your armors.
Tarnished Coast
I’ll take a look at the delay. Was supposed to be .5 seconds. I can check if somehow it got increased.
Jon
That is very much appreciated, thank you.

It definatly makes sense and seems to be confirmed by A-Net. I’d guess they have plant parts similar to pitcher plants or venus fly traps that allow them to break down protein more rapidly than their RL “meat eaters”.
That’s what was said in an interview, that they had pitcher plant pouches for stomachs.
Tarnished Coast
Not town clothes.
Because I want my character’s head to look like this every day.
I will buy them with real money. I know a lot of people who would, too. Please, ANet, give my whale-like self the opportunity to give you more money.
Tarnished Coast
They are looking at weapon size for asuras, according to the AMA posted recently.
Tarnished Coast
The only thing that would make me happier is giving us the town clothes hat and glasses skins as regular armor skins!

Tarnished Coast
With the total makeover one, you can change all body stuff, including height, yes!
The other one does hair, horns and ears (at least sylvari ears), and facial hair. For eyes it would be the total one.
Tarnished Coast
The AMA assuaged a lot of my concerns, though I wasn’t one of those who was freaking out.
Tarnished Coast
For the self style kits, it’s 250 gems for one or 5 for 1000, and for the total makeover ones it’s 350 for 1 and 5 for 1400.
Tarnished Coast
Update I’ve waited the most eagerly for, much appreciated, and on the day after my birthday too.

I <3 the butterflies.

An 8% difference in WvW is not gamebreaking, especially with the variability of builds, armor sets, levels, etc. There is currently much more variation than that and people do fine.
Play intelligently, and a tier’s difference in stats is pretty meaningless— it already is anyway.
Tarnished Coast
The dungeon gear was mostly for its looks, not its stats, anyway, so I don’t see why they’d become obsolete.
Tarnished Coast
And sylvari are just a third-world country with no influence whatsoever.
That’s false. They’ve systematically (and disproportionately) populated all three orders, with highly-placed members in all three and shock troops throughout. They’re very common in corrupted zones because their immunity to dragon corruption means that they won’t add to the enemy’s numbers, so while there are very few sylvari in general, there is a lopsided number in the Orders because the Orders are fighting the dragons— which is the sylvari’s instinct and mandate from the Pale Tree as well.
Their influence is out of proportion to their numbers. When the Pale Tree talks, the Orders listen, in part because the Orders are so densely packed with Sylvari, many either in positions of influence or rank.
This is also why the Orders give Trahearne more leeway, too. All of the Order Sylvari are very aware that he is a Firstborn, ordered by the Pale Tree to research and cleanse Orr as his Wyld Hunt— he’s been there his entire life, alone, doing nothing but studying everything about it. As (most) Sylvari defer to anyone with greater experience in any given field, respect the Firstborn, and obey the Pale Tree, you can bet that they will be influencing each Order they’re in to go along.
Tarnished Coast
I like Trahearne, but as my main is a Sylvari, he’s my leafy bro from early on.
I also like his voice. He sounds like a documentarian, which is pretty much what he is.
I didn’t have the AI problems that a lot of people are reporting. He stayed up fine and held aggro on some mobs while I dealt with the rest. Not sure if class makes a difference, but I main Mesmer.

They say the stats will be SLIGHTLY better and everyone is freaking out? What? We haven’t even seen what the stats on this stuff is yet. Also no old content is being made obsolete by this. It sounds like the gear is just a reward so people who enjoy the dungeon can do it more efficiently as it progresses in difficulty, which I think is a good idea. We shall have to wait and see though I suppose.
Having rolled max-level players in WvW when I was lower level and in lower-level gear (greens and blues), I’m not worried about a slight stat increase. Skillful playing, at these narrow margins, will generally defeat slightly better gear.

Not going to read 25 pages so if this is a rehash oh well.
I seem to recall Anet saying something along the lines of legendary comparable armors coming out sometime after release. Exotic is not the top tier for weapons, legendary is. So releasing this new armor is nothing more then them doing exactly what they planned in the first place. A tier above Exotic and on par with Legendary is not cause for freaking out.
Yeah. I remember this as well.
Tarnished Coast
so if they add 10 more lvls in next expansion you all leave too?
becouse lvl 80 exotics will be crap
idk if you followed this game prelaunch with statements like this.
i mean seriously.
They’ve said, since way before launch, that 80 may not be the level cap and that they may raise it in future expansions.
I suppose, when that happens, people will claim that ANet never said that.
Tarnished Coast
The reason I’m not presently bothering with a legendary is the RNG. After several years of AION, I’m not playing that crap again.
I love ANet, but this is probably the one design choice (seriously) that annoys me enough to make me not bother with even trying.
If they make a way to get it without RNG (even if it takes a long time), I’m so there. But until then, yes, the weapons are flashy, but relying on luck to get is doesn’t feel like earning it, it feels like gambling. My household gambles in RL to help keep the bills paid, I don’t need more of that here!
Tarnished Coast
Sheath your weapon.
Tarnished Coast
My sylvari looks good in just about every armor I’ve put him in. If you find that you’re having trouble with non-racial armor, then use a dye scheme that has at least one color in the same color range as your sylvari. (If you play a green one, try one of the olive tint or green shade type dyes for the metal, or a blue one, blue tones.) Or, try the opposite color on the wheel (or one next to that one), along with ones that match.
Tarnished Coast
No, there are two sets of tribalish skin. One is available, and one is not.
Tarnished Coast
I know it’s not an armor, but I haven’t been able to figure out where the gargoyle scythe staff skin is from, either.
Tarnished Coast
I miss stuff like Disc priest and GW1 healings, but I like Mesmer enough to deal with it.
As others have said, making people self-reliant is a big part of the game and is fine, not every game can be everything.
No, guardian isn’t an option, I played it for 35 levels and would rather be chased than do the chasing.
Tarnished Coast
The whole series of events was great, and thank you so much for bringing Mad King Says to GW2!
I’m glad to see the things I loved from GW1 come forward to the new game, it makes it feel a lot more like ‘home’.

Mouse losing focus -right click to turn not working [Merged]

Razer Naga Epic was doing this pretty badly. I bought a new mouse, and I’m on a limited budget, so this is pretty frustrating.
New mouse (different model of Naga) has less problem but was not gripping the screen yesterday, less issues today.

FOV (Field of View) Changes Beta Test - Feedback Thread
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Sylv.5324
I like the wider field a whole lot more!
Could y’all please offer the option of shifting the camera up, so there’s a bit more sky and less ground? It still feels a little claustrophobic, and the character thrown too far forward (the top of his head should not hit at or above the centre of the screen at full zoom-out).
I understand that some of that is for pvp (allowing us to see folks moving behind us without having to shift to a top-down view) but allowing us to adjust that would help.
Thank you, though, for the changes you’ve made! I’m sure reflections will be fixed once they get the feedbacks they need.
Tarnished Coast
Is there any way that y’all could release the glasses skins, and so on, as normal combat-wearable skins? I would absolutely buy these, they aren’t lore-breaking (it’s no weirder than the masks mesmers wear) in combat, and they look awesome.
Every game that’s had wearable glasses, I’ve worn the round Lennon-style ones, and would really love to wear them again, because they look amazing on this game!
