You should never do an RNG thing if not getting it will upset you, especially if the odds of winning are tiny.
Tarnished Coast
Grind is mandatory, farming is not.
Tarnished Coast
Grinding is not what ANET makes you do. Grinding was what AION made you do. If you wanted to hit level 40-50, you spent weeks killing the same mobs over and over again, because there were only enough quests at each level to grant one bubble on your bar, and the xp curve was extremely steep. If you wanted pvp gear, that was up to a month or two of repeating the same faction-locked instance per piece. If you wanted pve gear, you ran the same dungeon sometimes hundreds of times per piece.
If you needed to upgrade, you had to do the same. If you crafted, your odds of failing the proc to get the correct stat combo was higher than the success. (I played for two years and never saw my class weapons drop, and could not get the crafted account bound ones I needed to proc.)
This cost me so much time and gold that I can’t count the millions of gold it took to -fail-. I was farming and grinding 20 hours a day (I was homebound from illness), every single day, and I still could not advance my character to max because his gear and enchantmen’s were stuck at ten levels below cap.
if you understand what I’m trying to say, then you will understand that grindng means the required repetition of mindless crap to advance. You don’t. The leveling curve is easy. Exotic gear is easy. Skins are optional. PVP requires no special gear. What you are complaining about is that the content is not what you like, and so you made a really common mistake: you bought a game in the hopes that it would be something like WoW with nicer graphics instead of just buying WoW. You also bought a vanilla release, burned through content, and are now bored. Why? Buy a game with no expansions and take your time.
Tarnished Coast
They will not devote a bunch of money to build a class design so difficult that you want to play the pre-existing class designs more.
Tarnished Coast
I would appreciate it if chest farming stayed. There are so many silverwastes maps in lfg that if one is being farmed, you can easily switch. What imo is much more detrimental is folks leaving maps after vinewrath is killer or labyrinth is over. :<

It doesn’t feel like a grindy FTP. Go play one to see what those feel like and get back to us.
Tarnished Coast
Long, straight grasslike styles for guys would be lovely!
Tarnished Coast
Oh, you will. You will.
Tarnished Coast
At least let us toggle our own helms on and off. ?
Tarnished Coast
That is what we’re reduced to, J. :<
Tarnished Coast
what do you mean “finally”? feathered has been out since launch.. and the heavy armor too. I forgot the name.
In comparison to female armor, and gw1 armor, males have comparatively few sets, even though several races have things like tattoos, body glows, etc.
Tarnished Coast
It’s beautiful. My only two complaints are the same as always: I want to wear my own helms with them and wish this could be toggled like in GW1, and the rigging on the sylvari pants is doing the usual petticoat poof on males.
That said, please keep giving us styles like this, ANet, a lot of us have been wanting stuff like this for a while. (Male sylvari body glow and Norn tattoos always get hidden!)
Tarnished Coast
It would also look great with sunglasses!
Tarnished Coast
A monocle and the exemplar outfit would look awesome!
Tarnished Coast
You could do this in the original game, and it currently counts back items as separate.
Tarnished Coast
Waffling on the new outfit because of the helms issue. :<
Tarnished Coast
We have two mounts and the reception has been positive, so I’d love to see more!
Tarnished Coast
The fact that outfits are LESS flexible than GW1 outfits ( you could wear your own helm) is really frustrating. The monocle would be outstanding with some of these.
Tarnished Coast
Like in GW1? Please? Some of the new outfits are going to be amazing and I really would like to wear my character’s glasses with them. We could do this in GW1 and I really really miss it. <3

I really hope they rework gliding to be more like AION’s (outside of the Abyss). Doubletap to glide, steer into jetstreams, updrafts, etc.
You guys have used AION stuff before, y’all could look at what they did there.
Tarnished Coast
GLHF pressing 11111 with your boring living story zombie key mashers
- said the dungeon runner.
Sorry, couldn’t resist, the irony was stunning.Anyway, don’t get your hopes up in new dungeon, I’m hoping “challanging” content will be challanging.
Do something harder than ac.
None of them are harder than AC.
Tarnished Coast
I am not sure why it doesn’t just let you go in and out as long as it’s in your inventory, but no, you still get kicked out of the RT.
Tarnished Coast
My question is did Kiel win because of the players votes or because it was the story that the writers wanted to tell/fractal that the designers wanted to build, with only the illusion of choice.
If you take various devs at their word, it was up to the players, including several dungeon builders who wanted to do the abandon fractal.
If you would rather believe conspiracies against folks’ word then I’m not sure why you’d want to play this game.
Tarnished Coast
I was sad that I did not get an invite, but I know that ANET is not being unfair. RNGS are RNGs.
Tarnished Coast
I’d suggest that they go with AION’s idea and double-tap spacebar to glide (with the ability to also assign a button to the command), we already double-tap to dodge. That way the game knows what you want to do, as it’s a different command than just jump, and thus it would not trigger the aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiaaaagh scream when you clearly intend to glide.
Edit: I would personally like to have the control of ‘start when you start the jump’ because any lag on a suboptimal connection or machine means you’ll fall that much further because of skill or prompt lag. When loot chests appear, for example, I NEVER get a prompt even when I should, so I just end up having to key mash and hope.

I can’t see Norn going along with it, at least if they stick to existing lore. Norn allow /icebrood/ and Svanir in their home city. Why’s it ok to tolerate serving one dragon and not the other?
Tarnished Coast
That type of thing is a temporary blip, though.
Tarnished Coast
The only skill/gear check in AC is arguably the burrows, maybe kiting the gravelings at the pulling the chains at the one part or the ghosts for the boss. I always am perturbed at super-leet AC groups because this is a level 30 dungeon, as long as folks read chat for instructions you’ll do fine.
Tarnished Coast
I’d love to see gliding implemented all over the world. AION made it work okay and it seems like the mechanics will be similar anyway.
I’d love upgradable/collectible gliders, too, like plant themed ones for sylvari, steam ones for charr, etc.

It doesn’t have to be work, much less paid work. Anything will do. Throwing in the towel and saying that real life sucks so much that you might as well just escape into Tyria is doing yourself a disservice. You’re a human. You were born as a member of a species that conquered this planet and then some. We rose to the peak of the food chain by being clever and not by being strong. Physical limitations shouldn’t mean an end of a life, much less an end of ambitions. Especially not in this age.
I have a freelance job waiting on me for when I can get back to work, which is more than many can say. But I can say that it’s rough to work with a tumor crushing your internal organs, or so doped up on Oxy that your brain is fried, or going through chemo.
You can’t just get up and clean a house when you’re in that much pain, or when you’ve got limited mobility. You can’t work a job, or volunteer somewhere, or do whatever. Sometimes it takes all your energy just to put on clothes, and even then there are days where I don’t have the energy.
There are days now when I can get out of the house, but the agony that puts me in takes a lot of meds to beat. Those meds cost money. My wheelchair, my only way to get around, cost a lot of money. All the adaptive equipment and meds that the disabled and many ill folks need cost money, and the disabled are predominantly poor. But MMOs, especially those with no sub fees, are one of the cheapest entertainments there is.
You say, ‘work for validation’, but when you’re a kitten , just being able to wake up every morning, sit up, or hold a controller for a half hour is work. You are asking those who are suffering to prioritise what you, a healthy person, feel validates you.
You are not losing a life by spending most of your time in an MMO when you are disabled or ill. If that is how you can connect to the world, do things and make friends, then you are simply carving out the best life that you can. If the only life you find is valid is either work or ‘go outside’ or ‘watch tv’ or ‘have another hobby’, that’s really narrow-minded. What is inherently superior about it?
Playing MMOs saved my life. If I hadn’t been able to experience imaginary sunlight and scenery and hang out with online friends when I was so ill and light-sensitive that even a flashlight would burn my skin and make my eyes bleed and swell shut (I keep my monitor dimmed and shielded, windows blacked out, etc), I’d’ve killed myself from the isolation. That MMO was GW1 and is part of why I’m here today.

I don’t get the, “I’m disabled and can’t work so I spend all my time playing a video game” mentality. Wouldn’t time be better spent learning something else computer related? It sounds like the OP and others have endless time to sit at the computer, but no time to learn a skill (like programming) which could be beneficial and profitable. There’s a lot you can do from a chair… why settle on leveling your characters when you could be leveling up your life? Be a web developer, a blog writer, a musician with a keyboard and a laptop, paint pictures and sell them on the internet, a graphic designer, a novelist, etc.
When you’re disabled or sick, sometimes you can’t do productive things. Also, this is a lousy economy, freelance work doesn’t pay much, and few people want to hire folks who work from home.

I was homebound for almost 15 years with a serious illness, and more recently developed malignant cancer (under treatment, I posted about this a few weeks ago). I don’t know what I would have done without Guild Wars 1 and 2, and the friends I’ve made here. MMOs let me feel like I could still go out and do things even when I was, and still am, too sick to do much of anything, and lets me hang out with friends and meet new people anytime.
Thank you, ANet. <3

Thank you for well-wishes and also thank you Jayjaydee for your story.

When I was diagnosed with the tumors there was no warning and they kept me at the hospital until I got surgery two days later. Everyone I am really close to (sweetie, sweetiemom and sweetiebro) came with me and stayed, and they notified the few in-laws who cared.
So I let folks know online via phone skype app (typing from phone now too). I was a shut-in for years because of another illness, so most of my friends are online.
A few folks have told me my response has been weird, but I’ve lived online for so long that it was normal to me. I just found out that stuff was malignant a couple days ago and almost passed out when I got the news, but sweetie was there and has been very supportive and so have my online friends. I hope to recover and maybe have a get together with folks so I can thank them in person. <333
I mean I cried for an hour after I found out and still get anxiety but that can’t last forever.

Thank you so much! I <3 Brazil.
I wish everyone could fly down so folks could line up in formations right there in the hospital.
“Ok, 3, 2, 1… /DANCE *!”
Coolest flash mob ever.

Always time for dancings.
<3 Every chemo session should include dancing!

Went in to see doc, got news that it was malignant. Gonna start chemo as soon as I.ha e recovered from surgery.
Thank you for all the positive vibes and feels, I am hanging onto them pretty hard right now.

I was diagnosed with cancer about two weeks ago: I had been feeling very sick for months and finally two Sundays ago I was ambulanced in with horrible stomach pains. What the doctors thought was a bad urinary infection turned out to be a tumor the size of a football, with one extra node elsewhere, that had engulfed my inner reproductive organs, was eating through my abdominal wall, and was crushing everything around it, particularly my bladder, stomach and intestines. A few days later, they removed it, the smaller one, the entirety of said inner reproductive organs, and part of my abdominal muscles and lining. They thought they might have to take the colon and bladder, too, but those fortunately turned out to be clean.
Giving the news to my fellow officers and guildies (The Court of Envy on TC) sucked— there was no warning, just, ‘oh hey lol, I’ve just been diagnosed with cancer, I might not be back for weeks or ever because they think it’s stage 4’. But instead of asking me to step down as an officer and in-character leader, they told me not to even worry about that, to just focus on surgery and recovery and that they would pray for me and send me good vibes.
I couldn’t log in in the game from the hospital (I returned home a few days ago but I still am not well enough to sign in), so they kept in touch with me through Skype while I typed very badly on my phone because Oxy. They asked for updates and encouraged me when I was down, and kept me updated on Living Story stuffs to cheer me up.
This whole ordeal would have been so much rougher without their friendship, and all of them are folks I have met through Guild Wars 2. Missing part (maybe all) of Wintersday sucks, but knowing that they and this wonderful game will still be there when I am a bit better has helped keep my spirits up. Hopefully the doctors got it all and that the biopsy results are good, so I can keep playing, and hanging out with my friends, for many more years. <3
Thank you so much.
(Also, if folks think this is a scam I can post a pic of the surgery wound with my user ID near it or whatever. :P)

I think that just adding to the wallet would be fine. Just add tabs. Yes, eventually it could become unwieldy, but it’ll be a long time before that happens.

I’ve liked just about everything so far! One suggestion that I have, and that a lot of folks over on Reddit have suggested, is to bring back the personality options— even if the actual choices don’t change much, being able to give different dialogue options (Dignity, Charm and Ferocity) would help to personalise things. (Canach was the NPC most mentioned, to whom having different dialogue options might have been nice, as not everyone wants to beat him up!)
Tarnished Coast
It might not be feasible because armor seams (in regards to individual bits of an outfit), but changing head slots to work like back slots should not be too much of a pain— as said, GW1 did it, and since you can wear backpieces with outfits the code infrastructure is still there.
Tarnished Coast
I’ve been groveling for the same thing:

You could do it in GW1. Please let us do the same in GW2! <3
