t2 ones are well-populated as well.

In this case, it’s not a lot of money. You can drop ten dollars on the game, and get a haircut kit for yourself, another for the sweetie (you can gift these), and have 300 gems to spare.
Folks will spend much much more on movie tickets, cable, takeout, whatever, so I don’t see why the minimum cost of a gem purchase (10$) is suddenly so upsetting.
Tarnished Coast
(edited by Sylv.5324)
Yeah. But the 250 gem fee is accessible to folks who can’t afford to buy them with real monies.
Tarnished Coast
250 gems really is not a lot of gems or gold, and it helps fund future content.
No one in GW1 had an issue with new and cross-expansion hair and skin colors being offered for a small fee later on, I don’t know why people are getting so angry about this, of all things. If it was 800 gems, sure. But 250? That’s a couple RL dollars.
Tarnished Coast
Ahahaha light classes, get boned!
We usually do. The bros, anyway. It’s like there’s some rule where men aren’t supposed to have clean, elegant lines in their armor whilst the women do.
Tarnished Coast
The new faces were not released.
Tarnished Coast
It would be impossible to create cutscenes with as much detail as the short stories, unfortunately, with the budget constraints most MMOs face.
Or more bluntly, do you want even more resources taken away from the actual game in favor of an exposition-heavy cutscene?
Tarnished Coast
However there should be really a ingame barber where you can change it for about 15 silver.
Yup. I tried so hard to get the permanent hair stylist kit, but I just wasn’t able to do it.
It might be in the xmas boxes again this year.
Tarnished Coast
Wow. A couple of those new Charr styles are just… I mean really?
Elvis has left the citadel!
LOL.
Curious to see how many Braham clones I’ll see. A few of the Human males are a bit odd. One nearly makes you look female and the other looks like you haven’t showered in a week.
Few of the female Asuran styles are neat though.
http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/gw2-human-male-hairstyle-3.jpg
Yes, he’s very.. pretty. .-.
I’m glad that he is, it’s nice to see more of that style.
Tarnished Coast
I love these new hairstyles but honestly I was hoping for more curly options. Maybe next time.
Same here. To be completely blunt about it, there are no natural looking hairstyles for black woman characters (humans anyway, there’s a couple for norn women that work well). I’m not genuinely bothered by it, race bias in video game character creation isn’t exactly rare. Just one hair style with some curl or frizz would be appreciated though.
At any rate, the new styles look quite nice. More character creation variety is always welcome.
It’s a little difficult to do more realistic curly or frizzy styles because that often requires more polygons and transparencies. (Hence why the fro looks so fake.)
Tarnished Coast
Can I gush? I don’t care, I’m going to gush.
That blonde norn fellow with the Braham hairstyle with the braid and the bedroom eyes and that little smile with the DIMPLE! (I am such a sucker for dimples!)
You can go back to what you were doing now.
No, I... I’ll need a few minutes. *__*
Tarnished Coast
New hair is a major thing, at least for Sylvari, especially for Sylvari males, who have the least (I believe) options of anything (faces, hair) due to their redesign causing them to be worked on right up to the deadline of release. Some of the hairstyles look like they were retrofitted to match, some vanished, and out of what was left only a couple were ever really used.

That not supported by their cash shop sales is going to result in LESS future game development is nonsense because they could generate money with expansion in stead of the heavy focus on the gem-store.
You should not post your opinion as fact. The FACT is, they are being supported by gem shop sales. If you refuse to support the shop, you refuse to support ANet. You can try to pull out whatever distractions from that fact that you can, but that doesn’t change anything.
Tarnished Coast
It is a figure of speech as far as I know, but it should be noted that turnover in the game industry is very high, especially at smaller studios (which ANet is) that can’t pay the bigger salaries that places like Blizzard can.
It’s not as high a turnover as the person above claimed, though. But that doesn’t sound as dramatic.
Tarnished Coast
The Gem Shop does support ANet. I really wish folks would stop taking misinformation at face value, considering ANet has stated that the Gem Shop supports ANet, too.
A portion of that goes back to NCSoft as well, because NCSoft footed the very large bill to pay ANet for developing the game. In return, a percentage of the profits go back to the parent company.
I don’t know how anyone could spin this as bad when this is how every publisher works. Have a favorite author? Their publisher fronts the cost of the book, pays them an advance (which is what happened with GW2 as well), then takes royalties from the subsequent sales (boxes) and merchandise (cash shop). The author also gets a portion after the advance fee is covered (royalties). The ONLY way that Guild Wars could be afforded to be made was via this system.
By claiming that ANet is not supported by their cash shop sales, and therefore does not deserve to have stuff bought from their cash shop, is going to result in LESS future game development and LESS features and LESS of the things that folks want, because they will have LESS resources to devote to those things.
If you don’t take my word for it, then ask anyone involved in publishing as to how advances, royalties, etc, work.
Tarnished Coast
Yes, I have. The nice thing is that the lack of a monthly sub means that on months where I can’t afford one, I don’t need to pay it, where on months where I have extra, I can spend what I want on what I want.
It’s mostly the inflexibility of a payment schedule combined with the lack of anything received for spending it. If I spent 160-some bucks a year on a sub for a game, I’d have nothing new to show for that money; on GW2 I spent it on something specific and so got something back.
And yeah, re: services. The fees to move characters from server to server on WoW could easily hit the hundreds, where here, all of your characters move for the same reasonable price. Most sub games also have cash shops anyway, so if you want to purchase something from one, it’s already on top of sub fees.
Tarnished Coast
Technically, it was 24 years ago, as the timeline for the sylvari starts 23 years before the game launch, not the rounded-up 25 in the intro.
Tarnished Coast
This “artistic vision” bullcrap Anet pulls is really annoying, coming from an “artist”.
Let people look how they friggin want to look.
Apply to ANet and get hired, if you want to decide how some armors look.
Tarnished Coast
‘The game is boring!’ is not really useful feedback. How is it boring? Why is it boring? What bores you?
Tarnished Coast
There are no official rp servers. Tarnished Coast was supposed to be the na unofficial rp server. But there has been such a large influx of non-rp players that it doesn’t really feel like it.
It still is and there is plenty of RP and RP guilds. Check out the RP sites dedicated to it.
guildwars2roleplayers.com is the biggest.

I don’t get the daylies complain. I can’t play much during the week and daylies take me around 10 minutes to finish, I don’t see the problem.
It really isn’t about the duration, it’s about the fact that anet wants you to do things you don’t like. Games are ment for relaxation, not irritation.
You have around 20 options to pick from. o.O
Tarnished Coast
Well, vayne, you and your guild just keep playing Guild Wars 2 the moment a couple of new MMORPGs hit home (early next year), I’m sure they’ll keep the game up for you guys alone, cause that’ll be about all the players they have active at that moment.
The fact that you’re gloating about it shows that you’re more interested in being vindictive than anything else. Instead of just moving on to a new game, you WANT this one to die. You WANT the fun of other people who are happy to be damaged just because you didn’t get your way.
There is always some peel-off when new games come out, just like some of those players return. The nice thing is that the lack of a sub model means it’s free for people to play a new game for a while, then come back, or play both games— and many people I know are playing, for example, both GW2 and FF, especially during the lull in content or while it’s a LS expansion they’re not that into and so they have more time right now to split between both games.
But they’re all intending to play the hell out of GW2 during Halloween, XMas, and whatever LS installment they like.

relevant to me, I’m no AP ‘must have’ seeker by a long shot, but I’m not about to chuck it all in ‘just because’.
People are always looking for reasons to find extreme fault over things that are not worth that many dramatics, especially folks whose main game was WoW or a close knockoff. That attitude will never encourage ANet to change for them, because they know there’s no pleasing fairweather players who’ll ragequit at any slight deviation from their demands.
Tarnished Coast
I hope you guys don’t fire that employee. He might have gotten irritated by their rudeness, but those players were extremely rude and, IMO, deserve at least a 3-day ban.
Tarnished Coast
The rule is kind of unclear. What constitutes “authorized personnel”? So any ANet employee can whip out his giant “I’m special” guild tag and start ordering people around?
He was justified in whipping it out when he was being slagged for just standing there.
For some reason, folks seem to think that having an anet tag (or just being a random player) is an excuse for them to be treated like kitten, and that they should just take it because they are employees. I’m glad he spoke up, regardless of the underlying incident, because folks were acting like entitled brats.
Hopefully this won’t derail any progress toward GvG, because using this as a reason to kitten about it IMO is lousy, and showing them support just shows support for the toxic behavior that’s become rampant in certain parts of the community these last few months expecially.
Tarnished Coast
I’m off to bed, hopefully I’ll see a dev post on this employee’s behavior when I wake up.
Hopefully the folks ranting and flaming will be banned for violating the ToS as well.
Tarnished Coast
I don’t see the problem with the employee’s behavior. GvG guys were being rude jerks and their attitude and words would have been reportable.
If the GvG folks had been polite, I might have a different opinion, but they weren’t. They started out being kittens and the employee was right in flipping his tag and calling them out.
Tarnished Coast
Extremely largehuge since culling was removed. I remember taking to a dev about it, and they said they’d look into it. Q.Q
It makes it tough to RP (or coordinate non-RP stuff) when stuff is being sent from halfway across the map, one has no idea who’s saying what or where.

I and my guild would really appreciate guild halls. Even if it was a cash shop deal, I’d spend the money. Having to guest to other servers to host guild events, in order to avoid griefing, is not really the same thing.
Tarnished Coast
It should be stressed that you do need a genuinely FAST PC to guarantee that, though, at least at peak time. With a fairly slow one (decent HDD speed, though), there is no way I can get any but the top three in Frostgorge.
I do think that’s kind of a problem because it means that, right now, top money making = fast computer. No easy solution to that, of course.
Guest to a server with less of a zerg and which runs to instead of ports to the wurm. Before I got my machine upgraded, I did that and did ok.
Tarnished Coast
We knew about the e-sport thing since before launch. If you’re going to complain, at least get your game history right.
Tarnished Coast
I believe AC gear is P/V/T as well. What I did was buy all rare gear as soon as I hit 80, then replaced it piece by piece with exotics from dungeons and karma. I bought my accessories with gold. Being in rare gear and knowing your class will get you through PvE; exotic just makes it a little easier.
Tarnished Coast
I listed a group the other day and had 3 Germans and 1 French guy join me, all 3 of the Germans spoke English the whole time, while the French guy didn’t say a word (Guess he didn’t speak English)
He might’ve been able to read it, but not speak it fluently. I’m like that with portuguese, or I was back when I always ended up in portuguese guild groups on AION— I got most of what they said but mine was limited to NAO and a few cusswords.
There were a few moments of, ‘Did he just insult my mom?’ “No, he said ‘good heals!’ lol!” “Oh!”
Tarnished Coast
My native language is ~ twice as much spoken than german or french (Portuguese). That don’t mean i should be selfish and close myself in my native language.
English speakers are selfish and close themselves in their native language all the time.
Granted, I say this as a francophone who lives in the US currently, but back when I was in my native province, it was about 50% anglos and 45% francophones— but the anglos still expected everyone to only speak english and got mad if you spoke in french around them, even though there were TWO official languages there. So anglos insisting everyone speak THEIR language has been the case for a long, and annoying, time.
Especially if you’re on a non-anglo server, there’s no point in advertising in english. English is not the default setting for language, and just because it’s used in international business doesn’t mean it’s required for people messing around in an MMO.
Tarnished Coast
If you don’t like seeing LFG in german, then start one in english instead of making other people do it.

Anyone that doesn’t want to teach complete scrubs is an elitist thesedays. Gw2 = Scrubs Heavens.
They won’t stop being scrubs until they learn from someone who isn’t.
Tarnished Coast
If a legendary trinket gave my armor some kind of special effect I really liked, I would want one. How do you know, no one desires such a thing?
That would be awesome, I’d love some kind of particle effect with no other item attached.
The stats would be the same as ascended, so I don’t see why folks would get mad.
Tarnished Coast
What the OP is looking for is a guild.
Tarnished Coast
I love Mesmer and have leveled a few. Now that I have Runes of the Traveler on my main, my main gripe with the class (keeping up with teammates out of combat) is gone.
Tarnished Coast
Well, we do have a couple and it didn’t cause a crisis, so hopefully that was just a test for a possible future iteration on it.
The only thing I miss from WoW is my mounts. Not big stuff, but like my mechano-hog. I miss it more than ever now that my main sword is twilight and not the greatsaw, whose aesthetic is almost identical. T^T
Tarnished Coast
I’d love mounts. The world is big enough for them, it’s something else to collect, and it’s relaxing to ride through a world. We’ve already had two released and it didn’t break things. <3
NPCs talk about horses like they exist, they’re mentioned in the books as well, (you see undead ones in GW1 as well) it’s just a running gag that there aren’t any objects.
Tarnished Coast
They exist for PvP and WvW.
Consider toughness as resilience, yeah.
Tarnished Coast
(And once again: risen are dead bodies. Dead bodies have rigor mortis. They’ve no business running that fast. It’s ridiculous. It’s also why zombies everywhere else move slow and stiff.)
Rigor mortis wears off relatively quickly, actually. There are films and games with fast zombies and it’s plausible as long as the decomp is not too bad.
FRESH ones might be stiff, but give one a day or so and they’ll be limber again.
But really, ‘but magic!’ is the explanation, aside from rigor mortis wearing off after several hours.
Tarnished Coast
I think that many would probably admire and respect their willingness to sacrifice so much for their people, and feel a lot okittenship with them over that. Especially Valiants.
Tarnished Coast
The dev doesn’t deserve it. They’re not the one responsible for the things that poster arglebargled about, and even if they are, it’s not right to be a jerk.
Tarnished Coast
- hit the nail on the head for me, I’m sick to death of being second fiddle on the server I’ve played on since day one!
This is my only — but serious — problem with this event-- I have not been able to get on my own server’s Tequatl fight since this patch went live. I can’t join my friends there with the ‘join’ function— always full. That last is really frustrating, as we as a guild, or a group of friends, can’t even play on our own server.
Tarnished Coast
There are human-height sylvari in hunman armor all over the world, and they are all lore-compliant. Even some of the Firstborn wear non-plant armor. That said:
Tarnished Coast
^ If they were that elite, they’d have a dedicated group anyway. They’re just trying to blame their poor performance on someone else.
Tarnished Coast
Increase base HP to 18-20k like mesmers.
Our base HP is not 18-20k. It’s around 15k. If we want more, it comes from gear and traiting into likes just like eles trait into earth.
