They nerfed plinx and pen/shelt. Up until then, folks went there to farm in the open world, and while it wasn’t as efficient as dungeon-running, was good enough.

There are two kinds of champ farms— the ones that just noodle around and wait to be found, and the ones that spawn from events.

Leave the non-event ones, loot, boxes and all, as they are. Do something about the event ones if event completion is an issue.

People also try to come up with all these different scenarios and motives for farmers, but it’s pretty simple.

If I want to buy that nice new zodiac skin? I need 50 or so gold. How do I get that if I won’t buy gems to convert? How to I get Foefore’s essence, say? That’s a few hundred gold. How do I afford all the components for a legendary? Not everyone can run dungeons. Not everyone can buy gems. How else are people supposed to afford these things? Market manipulation inflated the price of a lot of things (no matter how fast one farmed, price-jackers simply bought out every precursor and relisted for higher); farmers are playing catch-up to prices set by non-farmers, but then get blamed.

I don’t believe that treating people poorly is right and most farmers I know are not mean (we do champ loops instead, not events). But it is crappy that we’re getting blamed for having to keep up with inflation that we did not cause and, yet, are also being blamed with too.

Just making precursors alone not restricted to absolute RNG and/or dumping 500+ gold in the toilet or the trading post would alleviate the need for farmers to do this. Just about everyone I talk to is farming for their precursor. (I already have mine, having farmed southsun nonstop, thank god).

They should not have set up legendaries in a way that promoted this, then. Right now, to get one, you have to play the market, shell out real money, or you have to farm. Almost all of the goals require you to farm, just because it’s 250 boar butts, 100 qqstones, 500 arglebargles, etc, etc. Not to mention the cost of a precursor.

Lets all get into really organized groups of ~5 people to take down every champion, on every map. That’ll get rid of the zergs. Better yet, lets make all the maps instanced and only available via solo or group play. That will really show all those people zerging it up to take down a foe how to properly play a game. I hate those guys after all. I think they’re below me, it’s pretty obvious though.

A lot of zerg farmers play other areas of the game, too, and are good. I don’t get why folks insist on this sharp delineation between things to do; even farmers get bored and go dungeon or WvW or whatever eventually.

Also- consider a dungeon path or two. The upgraded rewards for daily runs make it pretty profitable to run a few quick paths once per day. Unfortunately, a lot of people are being drawn to invasion farming instead..

I am ill and my roomie is my and my quad sweetie’s aide. Being able to block out a few hours of nonstop playing, without breaks, is very difficult. With open world farming, I can drop out for ten, fifteen, rest my head, puke, whatever, then jump back in no problem. That’s not really doable in a dungeon run.

(That’s not to say I haven’t run some, but people need to be very understanding and doing that daily would deffo grate on people. Obviously this is not everyone’s issue, but people have their own reasons for blowing off dungeons.)

Taking those champs or nerfing that will nerf that morning run, and we’ll be back to pondering how to progress.

Re: the new influx of money— apparently they’re planning a lot of gold sinks.

The big big moneymakers of this patch weren’t zerg farming anyway, it was the ember farm and deadeye.

I like zerg farming. I considered quitting, and so did my roomie, despite us being long-time devotees of the GW franchise, because the only real way to make gold was to run dungeons.

We can’t run dungeons very often. So for us, being able to work on legendaries and such ground to a halt. Now, we can get back to work on things. If others want, they can go do dungeons, invasions, or whatever they like— and we can farm. When we do, it’s usually early in the morning when the ‘zerg’ is 5-10 people and the champs take a while to die.

GW1 did not require you to farm dungeons to make money. Being straight-jacketed into dungeons, especially cof, was NOT fun and NOT feasible for us.

Can’t mesmers trait so they get speed boost per active clone? Every weapon set has clones available. Spam the skill and grab a speed boost. per clone, you should have quite a boost, no?

The issue is mobility out of combat— keeping up with your party, a zerg, or exploration in general. Clones can only be summoned in combat.

Also focus’ swiftness stacks with nothing and doesn’t last very long.

They stole it from the Norns. The Norns legs, at least the males, are waaay to short. It looks so out of proportion.

The males’ legs are supposed to be shorter, as they’re built like bears.

Part of the issue for me is that the camera shows so much of the ground that the movement scroll at the bottom can make me feel queasy. I wish ANet would raise their camera, so that the character’s head hits the bottom third, rather than midway. We’d see a lot more skybox anyway, rather than the ground.

But they haven’t even bothered to make the minimap movable to the left (I’ve only got vision on the left side), so I doubt they’d bother to give us a camera height slider.

Male medium and male heavy glow, but male light does not. No clue why.

I go off the interview mentioned above— pitcher plant sac, so no need for a colon— and sylvari NPCs comment that they aren’t squishy inside, but mostly solid dry plant stuff.

That said, there’s obviously approximations for funtimes, but that’s all I assume it’s for.

Necro is pretty solid for leveling, as they have a big health pool. Heck, my first character was a Mesmer, and I did ok. Just remember to dodge when you must, and possibly open with your pets instead of an autoattack so your pets tank first.

Remember that hearts are there to point at locations where events happen, and that events are your main way of leveling— you will not leave a zone at the right level if you just move from heart to heart. Also gather everything (good XP) and if you have the patience, complete the zone for decent at-level rewards; there are interactive maps on the web that will show you what you’ve missed.

Yeah, one of the reasons why I rarely use staff on my main is the half-crouch, I hate it. At the very least give us the Norn drawn-but-idle stance, it’s not as bad.

If you have a legendary (or anything else that is rare), some people will be resentful for whatever silly human reason humans will feel, which are a lot of reasons. There’s no real point in calling them on it because they are the type of people who want to feel poorly about others, and make nasty judgments. I know I will annoy people when I get Twilight, but that is their problem, not something that I did wrong.

That’s because the bottom of their feet are bare (some of the ‘boots’ just cover the ankles/shin), and the leaf skin has glowy toes and heels.

No, only armor backpieces. Skin it to a statless back strap item if you want it /now/ (these come with some of the charr and quaggan backpack SETS) which will keep it account bound, or hold onto the skin until you grab a backpiece for gold or karma.

At worst, they will probably raise the cap when the next patch hits, they usually do.

It’s funny, considering how some people mention they get Legendaries less because they like the skins and more because they see it as a sign of status. In this topic, it doesn’t appear people give much prestige to those who own Legendary weapons… I wonder if said owners will accept that (and so that they effectively wasted their time, if their goal was sorely status), or if they will enter denial mode.

I am aware that when I get Twilight, some people will give me crap for it. I feel like that is their problem; I’ve made unique outfits, my main GS has been the Greatsaw since last halloween, etc.

I’m getting it because I like the look. If I want a grungier look, I can whip out the Greatsaw. If I want a dark particle effect, I’ll be able to whip out Twilight. There isn’t anything else with that paintstreak effect, and Dawn has a nicer skybox, but I don’t like the sulfur yellow hilt.

I’ll also finish Quip (I like chaos gun as it is so am working on it second), but the reaction to that is always, ‘WHYwould you waste your money?! That’s stupid!’ So picking a lesser-used legendary is no better, you still get sneered at.

The colder thing that Caithe does is she writes Tiachren off to Nightmare. The PC can choose to try to save him or not, but she just willingly lets him fall. That is a really strong violation of ‘Never let a wrong ripen into evil.’

There are more subtle Courtiers in the lore, but only Gavin is notably nice. Though Ysvelta is, too, until she’s crossed.

The Spanish forums are not restricted by continent. Any Spanish speaker is free to post on those forums, just as any English speaker is free to post on these forums.

The issue is that it’s apparently a euro-centric forum, with euro time zones, as far as I can tell, and that’s not helpful to someone who lives over on this side of the pond.

I’m french-canadian; if I had to go to France’s servers/forums for infos, that wouldn’t help me much either, since I’m on an NA server. Fortunately, I’m used to gaming in english.

Male sylvari can’t walk with their greatsword back against their shoulder, for some reason the ‘drawn’ animation is the same as for a 1-handed sword. I wish they’d fix it.

The reason people flock back to WoW is because it doesn’t require a top-notch pc ,whereas GW2 does.

I’ve noticed that the goes-back-to-WoW crowd always flocks back to WoW no matter which game it is or for what reason. What they really want is WoW with better graphics.

WoW is a decent game, but it’s different in focus from GW2. There are things I miss about WoW, but overall I prefer GW2, especially with the polish and fixes going on now.

AION’s armor, character editor and jumpgliding were better, but the rest was awful. (I played for two years and joined at launch.) Extremely unpolished, -extremely- grindy, the drop rates were faaaar worse than GW2’s have ever been, and enchantments breaking on a fail (and the odds of failure were higher than success) made gearing extremely difficult. The gating on acquiring PvP gear meant that it took months before you could PvP.

Look at how awesome female light armor is. Then look at how bad male light armor is. This is a cosmetic-driven game where I, as a male spellcaster, can’t find any motivation to search for and earn light armor skins.

I was extremely disappointed at the male light Phoenix set, yeah. It would be nice if they had kept a similar look to the female armor, instead of just reusing a bunch of mismatched pieces that don’t look like phoenix type stuff at all.

Why can’t we get elegant, close-fitting, feathered stuff too? :< Let us be beautiful, ANet!
