As in GW1, stealth is a magical effect, either by clouding the mind/senses, warping reality, or both.

I like this game a lot. I hope that they go back to the original game and bring back some of the neat things that were fun about that one, like skill capping, guild halls, more PvP options, etc!
Personal story stuff is a lot like missions, and I hope we get more of that eventually.

Now play for another 1-2 months and do another review…
I think it might be a tad different4 months and counting and still love the game.
Yep. Close to 1600 hours clocked and still have a ton left to do.
Tarnished Coast
Part of what’s got a disparity between servers is, IMO, folks trying to consolidate onto some of the bigger ones. Tarnished Coast gets a lot of transfers in and is busy in lots of places.
Tarnished Coast
As it’s a bigger game, it may have been a bit easier to split things for support, event times, localisation, etc.
Not sure about no korea, except that they may not have had enough resources for a korean team.
Tarnished Coast
I think that a lot of the ‘issues’ will get smoothed over over the course of the next year. This is a big new thing for ANet, and they’re still trying to figure it out. They did not anticipate the level of success they got and they’ve been scrambling to catch up and figure out where to go from here, and who to cater to.
Anyway, it’s nice to see happy new players, and overall, this is a solid game. Be patient for endgame content (we will see much more over the coming expansions, paid and free), and note that they spent most of their resources focusing on a broad leveling experience for launch instead. This isn’t what they plan forever for the game, but they wanted to put as much effort into the foundation as possible.
Tarnished Coast
Actually, you should post where this is happening, and which mobs are doing this. The devs have asked for this, and while I can’t remember where the specific thread is, it has been asked to be reported.
Tarnished Coast
Remember that hearts are just there to point the way to events, though they give a nice little XP and money hit. Don’t forget to check the mail icon if you haven’t, you’ll have letters with rewards in them every time you complete a heart.
Gather everything, and if you find yourself a little underlevel, try to complete each area (waypoints, points of interest, vistas, hearts).
If you take the time to do everything, you should be at the right level to move on to the next. (If somehow you are not, you can visit every other main city by taking your town’s portal to LA and then going through the portals there to other cities!)
And good luck! Welcome to Tyria!

Okay I’m really confused. Why does the nerf to Shattered Strength lower our ability to tag mobs in PvE and get the loot/credit from events? All I saw was mention of Greatsword, and I’m not sure how the two correlate.
Not exactly sure of the situation, but:
Might = Higher damage
Popular events = Mobs die very quickly
Higher damage = Better chance of dealing enough damage to a mob in order to receive loot/creditAlso, Greatsword = Event weapon of choice
I find that one gets much better returns on events with a MH sword + iPersona. Once you know the mob patterns and timing, just be sure to be in the right place, then hit your shatters and swing 1 while moving through the cluster of mobs. You should tag many things and you don’t need extra clones or might or anything.

I’d love to have a Pistol for Mainhand. After all, why did ANet create two(!) ilussionary pistols Lyss and Ilya (basically the patron godess of Mesmers) if we can’t even wield both at the same time?
So I’m still hoping for a Mainhand Pistol option for the Mesmer.
She s also the patron god of thieves.
Tarnished Coast
You may wish to transfer, as the game is not dead, but some servers are more active than others (in part because people are trying to consolidate on the bigger ones rather than outright leaving).
Tarnished Coast
I am level 80 and I am farmtacular, I just don’t like seeing my golds go down. when I am locked on a goal. Or, if I spend it, I want something tangible. So I’d rather buy a mount and ride than lose a gold over a day’s time spent waypointing whilst helping friends.
Tarnished Coast
When I’m saving for things and the inflation outpaces my gain, I consider waypoint costs too much. I also like to help out friends on lowbie alts while they level and do personal stories, and that does start adding up to a lot.
Tarnished Coast
Across all characters, you have played for 1576 hours 16 minutes over the past 4 months.
My main’s clocked 1523 hours and 5 mins over the past 4.
Tarnished Coast
A lot of us don’t bother with the waypoint system because it drains gold. I’d rather spend gold on buying or acquiring mounts anyway, since I’d have something to show for the expense.
Just don’t give them a significant boost, don’t let them fly above anything (the broom does fly but acts like a ground mount) and don’t make them so huge that they block merchants, though with the system we have you can click on them even if they are blocked.
I’d rather run from place to place anyway, using WPs makes me miss a lot of the world.
Tarnished Coast
Since Arena Net nerfed Guardians and gave them the same amount of health as an elementalist, I think Warriors may just be much better…
They’ve had that health pool since beta, last I knew.
Tarnished Coast
Um, most of us RPers on TC participate in PvE and PvP, and that’s part of why we usually win so consistently. And most RPers and non-RPers get along fine; I hear that a lot of non-roleplayers WANT to move to our server because of a) our WvW rank and b) the community that RP servers have.
At worst, designate TC the official server, as it’s been the unofficial NA server this whole time, with several thousand folks just from 2RP alone.
The issue is that we don’t have a huge oceanic pop, which some other servers I think have been unofficially made as theirs.
However, we usually win our matchups. Anyway, the main reason our server is so strong is because roleplayers flooded into it, and we participate in everything (there is even a WvW cross-guild alliance that, last I counted, was over 1000 members strong). WE are not the problem. (You’d probably get more turnout if you got people out of fractals and back into WvW anyway.)

Mesmer has around 20 if one actually weapon swaps (I do all the time), and it’s always good for us to carry a few extra weapons; I usually have a GS, sword and pistol equipped, but have a staff and a focus in bag 1 when they’re needed.
Tarnished Coast
Complete each zone and hit each event that comes up, as well as gather every gatherable that you find. You should be ready for the next zone by the time you are completely done.
Remember that hearts are there to point you to areas where DEs spawn; they are not meant to be the main quests.

One dropped for me in Orr. It’s a random world drop.
They’re pretty cheap on the broker right now, for such a good-looking skin (a throwback to one of the GW1 skins).
Tarnished Coast
This topic is to help folks get in. <3 Good luck.

Would it make some of you feel better to just remove the word “raid”, and change it to “larger, challenging, group focused PvE activities that require team coordination”?
—
No. It wouldn’t. The problem isn’t the word, it’s that you want a special tier that only certain guilds can reliably complete.
Tarnished Coast
I get plenty of loot in pve. Illusionary persona + sword. Blink or run in, unload shatters and swing 1 and 2. Ground is then covered in Cullens. No need to bring up clones unless you want to hit stuff further in back as the shatter on yourself hits hard enough.

They are supposed to be a beautiful race… I did my best to stretch that line as far as I could to include more than just standard beauty features.
I love the asymmetrical faces, though I noticed that it’s mostly on the female sylvari. Do you guys plan on adding more face and hair options for them down the line?
It would be amazing to have hair that’s more grasslike, or like trailing flowers, especially for the dudes, who have no long hair options. I understand that y’all were very much down to the wire when it came to releasing Sylvari due to the redesign, and that that likely impacted the number of choices we do have.
(And I think it’s great that y’all compensated for that with the color options, but I’d still love to see more hair at least.) <333

Because ‘instanced’ makes it exclusive. If they weren’t trying to make content and reward exclusive to ONLY a large, coordinated (re: guild) group, they’d just ask for more complex open-world stuff.
Tarnished Coast
Wait why am i seeing several people so much against raiding then say 10 man dungeons would be fine? Is there some confusion here. All a raid is, is a group made up of multiplae parties. So anytrhing above 5 people is a raid.
A raid is not defined by gear grind, locked off content or exclusive gear. All these are added to raids. They do not define the raid.
I’ve revised my opinion to want everything to stay five-man just because of the insistence of raiders in changing one of the core tenets of the game. This game decided to try to be different and reject the issues that come along with requiring larger groups to clear content.
Tarnished Coast
One person out of 2 pages. I think the majority in fact do not believe in what he said.
And yet most of the raiders I’ve come across, including the high-end raiding guilds I’ve been in, are like this.
Just because a few of you are nice doesn’t mean that’s not what this game will turn into, just like every other raider community. You already saw some of that in GW1 with the areas that required bigger parties, as well as some of the higher-end exclusive PvP areas. Everyone who didn’t get in on things at the beginning fell behind, and between the ‘you guys are all scrubs!!1’ and no one wanting to help folks, it just aggravated the divide. Same on WoW, etc etc etc.
ANet took a courageous stance when it limited groups to five and refused to add bigger group content. It’s very egalitarian and I don’t want group size to further fragment a community already damaged by fractals.
I would love to see more complex open-world stuff happen. But please, ANet, not large-group instanced stuff. Please stick to your guns and please stay true to that manifesto, at least in some ways. T_T
Tarnished Coast
Feeling bad for the scrubs and bads who cannot get into those raids and therefore attain the gear? Easy: Just make the gear a timed exclusive to the raid, and allow non-dedicated players to attain it via non-raid means at the same time you introduce a new and better raid/gear tier. That way scrubs won’t cry about inaccessibility, and the dedicated player will always have the privilege of staying one step ahead than the rest
This is exactly the type of attitude showing why I hope they never allow raids. All it does is set the community against each other.
Tarnished Coast
I usually don’t like snowy areas in games because of the glare giving me headaches, but the shiverpeaks in both flavors of guild wars look amazing.
I wish there were more reasons to go back to the earlier ones, too, because the early norn zone is so awesome.
Tarnished Coast
Hopefully it’s just a glitch!
Tarnished Coast
There are MMOs, past and present, without the holy trinity— including this one. Instead, all classes must be hybrids to some degree or other, which is what this game’s classes are.
You can spec more into healing, dps, support control, etc, but you can never really be one or the other completely.
Tarnished Coast
Vast majority of people left. All for different reasons.
Most players haven’t left, though some may have taken a break until new content is released or they’re done with whatever game they’ve bought lately. Your server may be less populated, but plenty of others are very busy.
Tarnished Coast
An MMO is never finished, and a vanilla release is especially so. Go take a break if you feel frustrated, nothing’s stopping you from picking back up later.
Tarnished Coast
You didn’t hang out on the pre-release SW:TOR forums beating the same drum by chance, did you?
No, haven’t played the game nor been to their forums.
Tarnished Coast
They change at different hours of the day; there is a tracker on the 2RP forums for Tarnished Coast’s because it’s so popular. (There are also people in most zones.)
Tarnished Coast
The day that ANet goes back on its word and introduces instanced content that requires a large group to complete, is the day my monies stop flowing to the CS and I won’t purchase more expansions.
Please, ANet, no raids. I agree with the reasons y’all put forth in the manifesto.
Tarnished Coast
Drago: if they ever implement build swapping, that will help.
Re: quiet ones: my server usually always has someone chattering except maybe at very early morning hours (3-4 am and generally only in out of the way zones).
Tarnished Coast
I’m going to bed, but I’m not sure why folks couldn’t’ve conversed as they saw fit anyway. Good afternoon!
Tarnished Coast
Tarnished Coast is pretty busy.
Tarnished Coast
Your logic simply doesn’t hold water. You just don’t want it, despite anyone trying to resolve your issues with it.
I don’t want it for the reasons that ANet’s said that they don’t want it, and I like ANet’s reasons more.
Also, I can acknowledge your points but still disagree, and the fact that you’re getting personal confirms to me that my judgment is correct.
Tarnished Coast
If they provided 20 man “instanced” versions of world events, with loot specific to it (no better mind you, simply “Claw of the Shatterer” style loot) why does it matter? You can still see the content, but if you want to field a team to take on the tougher version and get more exclusive rewards, you’d be able to .
Posts like this further make me hope that ANet sticks to its guns and are why I will always oppose instanced raids.
Tarnished Coast
We’re looking for solutions, but you (Sylv) only seem to want to keep those players from enjoying the same game you enjoy.
It won’t be the same game.
Anyway, it’s okay for games to be different from each other. ANet has made some very deliberate choices because it wanted to create a different kind of game, with a different atmosphere and different priorities. That’s why many of us play GW and GW2.
You guys knew that there would be no raids way before launch, but here you are, disappointed that the game that said it did not want to add raids still doesn’t have raids.
I think that you should have bought GW2 on its own merits, instead of criticising those who did and would prefer that it stays that way. That makes me even less inclined to agree with you, and trying to guilt trip me about it even moreso.
Tarnished Coast
One of my biggest issues I’ve had with enjoying GW2 is that none of the classes have grabbed me. I’ve tried them all, most of them to 80, but they all seem to fall short in some way. I level them up and just… I don’t know, maybe I’m expecting too much, but none of them are all that fun to me.
Rather disappointing really.
For a lot of classes, traits really define the playstyles more than anything else. So getting knowledgeable about those might help.
Tarnished Coast
I know. I just feel it’s important to let them know that I like it the way it is.
Tarnished Coast
Honestly I believe those who are unhappy with the fundamental pillars of GW2 should just quit instead of infesting the forums.
I’m tired of reading people asking for things such as tanks/healers, DPS meters, raids, more skillbars, removal of unique features and whatnot.
GW2 was made to be a breath of fresh air for people who are done with those mechanics.
Things can be “adjusted” but you will never see a complete overhaul of the features that are reason for the majority of the playerbase to play GW2.Bottom line, if you want improvements it’s ok but if you want drastic changes just change game.
Pretty much where I’m at.
Well, I’d like a consumable bar, that would be nice. Or a way to pull out just one small bag or something.
Tarnished Coast
Yup agree to disagree. I just wonder why you think Anet who managed to evolve pretty much everything else in the genre would screw up raids so badly.
My problem isn’t with ANet.
Tarnished Coast
Rather than say “no no no!” how about find solutions that doesn’t tread on your gameplay but allow us the types of content many of us crave?
Solutions are always better than exclusions.
I would rather ANet spend its limited time and budget on a few things that it (eventually) does very well, instead of struggling to find compromises that generally only frustrate almost everyone (fractals and ascended gear being one example).
In my case, I think that ANet was correct in excluding instanced raids, and for various reasons that I’m not going to argue further here. This is probably the one big issue where I will actively vote with my dollars.
I understand that you may find my response frustrating, but as I said to dudebro above, we’ll have to agree to disagree.
Tarnished Coast
As long as its done right there is no reason not to offer something for the guilds out there that wanna play this game. It would add people to the game and more people = more revenue.
I understand that you are adamantly for it, and I understand some of your reasons, but I am adamantly against it. Fortunately for either of us, it’s ANet who will decide to add them or not, so we’ll have to agree to disagree.
