If they give portal hubs and mystic forges to capital cities, they will probably get more traffic.

With ESO coming out, this game will become another WoW wannabe with some gear grind but no raid content (lol). Anet chose to please the PvE crowd, and they should pay for it dearly.
Some of us like this game, why do folks have to be actively malicious and want it to die?
Stop trying to mess with our fun, and go play a game that’s fun for you.
Also, to folks above, I am a guild wars 1 vet and I like guild wars 2. So do the other vets I know. A few disgruntled folks on the forums don’t speak for all GW1 vets.
Tarnished Coast
One of the things that made GW1 great was that they were willing to put out stories and content that was not just based on medieval and renaissance europe, but also by other cultures as well. Factions was my favorite expansion, just like Nightfall was others’ favorite, in part because of this.
We miss Cantha. Please bring it back someday.
Tarnished Coast
You may wish to acquire White dye as well, and apply it to the chestpiece. Not all armors reflect light and color the same way, so having both White and Celestial (or Black and Abyss) on various pieces evens out the slight mismatch.
Most of my armor sets are mix n match, and this is how I keep things looking like one set.
Tarnished Coast
Yeah, I actually like the male running animation. It looks graceful.
Tarnished Coast
I like them. I like feeling like I’m in the top 10%, even though I know some percentage of the other 90% left the game long ago.
As far as I know, most of that 90% is still around. Anedotally, I run a guild of 60 people, and all of them are active but in that 90%. My friendlist is huge— and all of them are in that 90%.
Tarnished Coast
TC is still relatively busy…certainly in the bazaare it is. But I do know the living story pulls a lot of people out of the open world.
DR and LA are usually always busy on TC, and most other places have folks running around in them. WvW is almost always queued as well.
At the wee hours of the morning is the slowest point, though, but you still see folks in those places and to varying degrees in the open world.
Tarnished Coast
I’d rather see more interesting rewards added for doing a variety of things than farming two events for hours at a time. The achievement point rewards are a fantastic first step.
Hopefully the new system they’ll have with champs and such will make folks move around, I guess.

Shoulder pad size is linked with one of the shape feature when you created your character. My Charr was the tallest/skinny and my tier 3 cultural shoulder always looked small in comparison of others. I did liked it.
That doesn’t seem the case with Sylvari, whose shoulders seem locked on the largest setting no matter what the option you chose. It’s why I wear non-dungeon shoulders, which sucks as a lot of dungeon shoulders are designed to balance out the rest of the armor.
Tarnished Coast
They were way oversized on my Sylvari Mesmer. Two giant, floating, glowing, shoulder pads.
This is an issue with most dungeon/high end shoulder armor on Sylvari, they’re either strangely huge or they sit too high. And the thinner the build, the worse it looks. It is really discouraging as a smallest-build sylvari scholar as only the Ascalon shoulders sit properly, the rest hover way too high.
It would be nice if they had someone take a day and re-position and proportion them. (Yes, I’ve worked on this kind of thing before, it wouldn’t take too long.)
Tarnished Coast
No repair costs would help. Better rewards, too. I lose money in WvW, and that’s not acceptable when I’m working on a legendary.
Forcing me into using a focus to get around also makes me disinclined to WvW. I don’t like constantly falling behind my friends, whose passive speed bonuses are just there while I have to juggle weapons and runes.
All of this makes me, who used to be mainly a PvPer in other MMOs, almost completely a PvEer.
Tarnished Coast
ANet nerfed pen/shelt and it’s that crowd trying to farm bosses that summon adds. As soon as one is nerfed, they switch to another spot to farm there. They are NOT interested in running around the whole zone and never have, and getting folks to turn out to take temples is always, has always been a pain. At least on my server.
If you take away loot from temple chain tables, you punish the rest of us who do the WHOLE chain for the loot, not access to the dungeon. If steps along that path are nerfed, I may stop going completely, as Arah, Melandru and Grenth are the best chains for loots in Orr now and getting enough people to bother to do them is almost ALWAYS a hassle as it is.
IMO revert the pen/shelt timers. Some folks cannot spam dungeons and the open world IMO should be just as rewarding.

Best way to do all the weapon achieves
Godlost swamp……..never ending frogs
There is a place in the Norn area, can’t recall just where, that there are never ending ambient ravens. It is by a skill point I think. It is a circular area and you can literally run the circle killing them and by the time you do a full lap they respawn. There are also no aggressive mobs or non-ambients to accidentally tag
That is also a good one.
Tarnished Coast
Best way to do all the weapon achieves
Godlost swamp……..never ending frogs
I finished staff that way, yeah.
Tarnished Coast
That wouldn’t be bad at all.
Tarnished Coast
Yeah. Because I stack power, it’s a lot less effective. XD
I -really- hope we’ll get build switching (like in GW1) soon, it would make things easier to be able to shuffle traits and then armor.
Tarnished Coast
Pro tip: Don’t do scepter master with a mesmer then. Try a Guardian, Elementalist or Necro.
Try killing things with a shield if you think scepter is bad.
Warhorn. Ranger is the only class that does any damage with it, so the only class that can even complete that weapon master, and it’s one attack every 25 seconds.
Enjoy.
I’ll need to buy character slots, blarg. I have no high-level alts of most professions and RL money for slots is tight right now.
Opening with 3 helps but the CD is too long IMO.
Tarnished Coast
Yeah, I’m deffo traited for sword/gs. :<

Hear our pain, ANet!
<3
Tarnished Coast
LMAO.
I know the faster way is to kill ambient critters and I’ve been doing some of that, but yeah. Target, PAUSE, SA-WING, PAUSE, SA-WING, PAUSE, do a little jig, oh hmm, right, I should cast now, SWING! Oh, a clone. I could’ve generated six by now.
Tarnished Coast
I apologise for sounding negative, but: this was the most aggravating cheevo ever. As a mainhand weapon, this thing is slow, there is even a pause before the clone is generated, and is lacking in every way in comparison to the sword, staff, GS etc.
I love this game, but working with this weapon makes me hate it more every time I try. It is extremely clunky and inefficient and its slowness means I can generate clones far faster with other weapons, utilities, or even just dodging.
I realise folks have a lot on their plate, so I don’t expect an immediate fix (obviously folks would not over one complaint anyway), but I probably will never use this weapon again once I’m done the achievement, just because every other weapon does things better and faster.

GW2 broke with the existing GW1 world, its existing characters and in comparison feels much more like a new book in a familiar world instead of a new chapter to an existing one.
That is your opinion, but not ANet’s.
Tarnished Coast
So if they had to grind this much in preparation to GW2, well, give them a precursor for their troubles
This is the best suggestion in this topic.
Tarnished Coast
They’d have to create new animations for it. (Much as I would love one.)

As the GM of a fairly big RP guild, I can say that Guild Halls would be wonderful for guild meetings, and even regular roleplay, as a ‘home base’ type thing. Just about everyone in my guild has been hoping for guild halls since launch.
Tarnished Coast
It looks kinda ergh, which is why no one uses it in game. (Sorry ANet! T_T)
Tarnished Coast
some of us feel it is justified as GW2 is really just chapter 5 so far.
I feel no amount of trying to reason with you to at least attempt to see the other side will prevail. And honestly the only way you could begin to understand the other side is if you had done the amount of work that is required to get those achievement.
In a way its kinda like those without children trying to tell those with them how to raise them. Unless you have walked the walk then your knowledge is limited to only know what you have read.
People are giving you a hard time because you have only read chapter 5 and want to cast judgment on the whole book.
^
This really is important for folks to keep in mind. That’s how GW2 was presented to us, as they decided that they could not deliver chapter 5 without a better engine, and gave us GW:EN to help us transition.
GW1 is special to us and to ANet. For me, it was my first MMO. I appreciate how ANet has honored our commitment to them, and I’m sorry some folks are envious of that.
I don’t think ANet should cave to those folks.

New hairstyles and hair colors.
New armors.
Extra inventory and bank slots.
Stack size increases.
Glasses that are not town clothes.
Tarnished Coast
I collect armor and town clothes, so it takes up a disproportionate amount of tabs.
One whole tab is various currencies.
Another is soulbound or account bound tonics.
I have all 8 maxed AND a bank guild. Need moar storage!
Tarnished Coast
I heard that they were planning on adding new bank tabs and stack limit upgrades via the gem shop. Hopefully that will happen soon!

Nerd raging until the little veins stand out in your neck
You are projecting your own anger hardcore here, bro. You’re the one who’s started raging about ANet rewarding GW1 vets and making all sorts of mean and false accusations.
I’m surprised you didn’t rage about the headstart giving folks an advantage.
Tarnished Coast
Players may not have demanded it, but they are defending it as if they did. It doesn’t invalidate what I’ve said either way.
No, it really doesn’t. We’re defending it because it was a lovely gift and is very much appreciated. You’re definitely trying to criticise us for things we never did or said.
Tarnished Coast
It really comes down to greed. It always comes down to “moremoremore” these days, doesn’t it? More points. More gold. More skins. Apparently the unique titles and skins that were already offered as HoM rewards weren’t enough to please people. They were clearly unable to enjoy the game on its own merits and want more. That strikes me as somewhat sad.
You’re taking some lengths yourself.
We didn’t ask for more points on pain of hating the game. We got a pleasant surprise when we logged in, because ANet decided to give us more points. I was enjoying the game just fine.
Now, you and your buddies want to take that away, and are saying it’s because we demanded things. We didn’t demand this.
You guys, however, are demanding that this be changed. You guys are the ones raging and twisting ANet giving us a gift into us demanding that we get more points. We GOT more points and YOU are raging about it.
Tarnished Coast
If you want to use the above analogy, it’s as if the promoters started a race, had everyone build their cars, invest time and money and such, and then start the race, only to pause halfway and state that said race was cancelled due to logistics but the progress from the first race would be counted toward the new one. (And you could bring your stuff along).
Which is what happened, except it was a game. But we still put in years of time and money before ANet realised that their engine was too limited to keep going— but that that should not penalise the players who had stuck with them and helped them build their rep (and therefore be able to secure the funding for a revamp).
The thing is, they’ve left it so newcomers can do the same thing we did, except easier because now folks can use heroes for everything.
Tarnished Coast
I feel that this little change made many people realise, how awful “gw1 vets” are. All these posts about, how much stuff you should get, because you played different game… it’s just stupid.
I’m sick of your attitude, so called “gw1 vets”. From whole thread it looks like you’re a better race, because you played another game before. [sic!]
It’s not about being better.
It’s that ANet does not consider the games to be separate the way you do. We were given these points because we invested heavily in the game that GW2 was supposed to be, but had to be moved to a different engine because of limitations.
You may not like the fact that we spent all that time on a franchise that you did not bother to get involved in, but that is not our fault. ANet wanted to make sure its loyal and dedicated longtime fanbase did not get shafted when ANet unexpectedly stopped developing GW1 in favor of GW2, and they always intended for 2 to in some way compensate us for what we were forced to leave behind.
I’m glad that ANet continues to honor that, even if people like you feel threatened by us. Their intent was pretty much to lift us out of GW1 and drop us into GW2 as painlessly as possible.

I suspect that they might tweak some of the more borked WvW ones over time, they’ve done that kind of thing before. Folks have brought this to their notice, so they may just not have had the time or priority to tweak them before, and now that cheevos are more important those can be looked at again.
Tarnished Coast
Ah, the old, ‘because I don’t like this game, everyone else must be casuals/bads/etc’ thing. Along with, ‘I play it even though I don’t enjoy it’ which makes no sense at all. You should play a game for what it is, not what you wish it would be, because you will never get everything you want out of one game. Not even the designers get everything they want out of their own game.
Tarnished Coast
I’m not sure that the majority is complaining. I’ve seen no one in game say anything but positive stuff about the rewards. Granted, my server is TC so the community there is pretty mellow.
Tarnished Coast
Yeah. Basically, GW2 is a continuation of GW1. It became GW2 because they could not make the expansion they wanted with the engine they had. Because that was shafting GW1 players out of everything we’d worked for, they gave us rewards for completing the last expansion and then jumping over to the new game.
GW2 is the expansion that GW1 players waited years for. You guys refused to play that game, and came in late. Just like anyone who joins late will always miss achievement points. This was /always/ known to be the case, that GW2 is the continuation of GW1 and that the players of the first would be recognized in 2 with special perks.

Bamboo isn’t probably exclusive to Cantha you know. It’s not as if the plant is impossible to find outside Asia in our world too.
In fact, am I wrong or is there bamboo growing in the cliff map where the Zephyrites are docked? This place isn’t in Cantha.
I believe there is.

Most GW1 veterans just played a game and got what they paid for. They did not put a single dime more into the development of GW2 (which is a completely new product, in business terms) than everyone else who bought GW2.
Yes, we did. They stopped updating GW1 in any major way a long time ago, but we still bought boxes and cash shop items. Not to mention that the word of mouth on our behalf definitely drummed up sales of GW2.
Anet clearly appreciates what we did. Maybe you should listen to them.
Tarnished Coast
So you want to slap every gw1 veteran in the face?
Do you know how much I supported pre-release gw2?
I’ve supported the development of gw2 since 2007! Way before the hype and even the dragon logo.
I’ve told everyone I have known about this “awesome upcoming game” in a bunch of other mmo’s from 2007-2012 release. These mmo’s included CoH (rip
), Launch of Aion-2012 Aion, and many others.
To me, these rewards weren’t worth it, but I could care less.
I would gladly trade these AP for other skins like my Rainbow Phoenix or my mini Kunnavang and my Chaos Gloves
Yeah. Not only did we financially support the game, we also showed that there would be a fanbase for the second game, and we did our best to keep support for the new game despite delays that lasted /years/.
I’d love to get my Black beast of Arrrgh back, too. I’d take him over 500 cheevo points, though I appreciate those points.
Tarnished Coast
They gated that quartz node behind an expansion built around jumping. That’s my main complaint.
I managed 40/40 btw, but man does my head hurt. Re: folks saying I shouldn’t play the game: don’t be silly. I can handle most content fine except some dungeons and fractals as I’ve learned techniques to adapt. Jumping is just the worst, because some of them require absolute precision and positioning.
My criticism isn’t, ’don’t do jumping’, my criticism is, ‘I wish you hadn’t gated so much of it behind jumping’. If the response is, ’don’t play the game!’ to ‘I wish they’d shown more variety because my disability makes this particularly frustrating’ then, yes, folks are being silly, and I appreciate the kind words. I’m pretty sure my feedback is just as valid as anyone else’s.
(Particularly considering my willingness to spend in the Cash Shop on upgrades.)
Tarnished Coast
Yeah.
I don’t have as much latency issues, but I am legally blind. Locking a lot of achievements behind jumping puzzles actually makes me ill from vertigo and migraines, so this is going to be a frustrating month. I know a few other visually disabled folks who are also struggling.
Tarnished Coast
The dedication and loyalty of GW1 vets is a big part of why GW2 exists. I think that’s worth the new value. (One whole gold, wowee!)
Tarnished Coast
Your best damage options are melee, but maybe with glamour and focus skills traited to reflect, a staff / scepter + focus deal might be workable?
Tarnished Coast
Greatsword is an amazing mesmer weapon, easily my favorite.
The auto-attack does instant damage from 1200 range, and it hits nice and hard.
Berserker > Mirror Blade > Auto-Attack > Shatter can down a glassy target from 1200 range sometimes before they can even react.
[…]
About the only thing GS needs in my opinion is a bit of tweaking on mind stab. It’s not a bad ability, but the radius could be a bit larger, maybe remove two boons instead of one, or a cool down reduction. A small buff to mind stab and I think the weapon would be perfect.
That rotation is optimal while leveling, too, and that’s the one I tell everyone to use when starting out a GS mesmer. Mobs usually won’t go for you, they’ll go for your clones, letting you stay at range.
I liked Mind Stab in its earlier iteration— not targeted, more like mirror blade in that it went for your selected target and a few things around them.
Tarnished Coast
Nerf people’s passive speed buffs. I as a mesmer have no way to zoom through JPs like most other classes do, so clearly other classes have an exploitable advantage somethingsomething arglebargle blerg.
