you have to download it
the forumulas will not work in any broswer, only in excel
Fixed bad link, sorry about that
A min/max Player in many games, I do tend to fret over how to get just exactly the customization I want, and GW2 is good about that with a little stats here and there and everywhere.
In anycase, after many many hours (about 14) of painfully going line by line sometimes to find errors, here is a calculator for the community. I found a few others but they were clunky to use I thought.
On main page, just use the dropdown menus under the easy to find “INPUT” header, anything you can customize you can edit. If I missed some gear-types let me know and I will work them in later. It is an excel 2010 file, the formulas wont work in older excels, you have to download it for it to work because google sucks. If someone has a good filesharing site Ill put it there.
If someone has good web skills, what we really need is a website like
http://aoc.is-better-than.tv/armory.php
But I dont know how to use the interwebs like that

(I originally made this only for guardians, and later added functions for the rest of the classes, as it was 4am and I was tired, this was posted under guardian forums, it is more appropriate here for everyone)

Thank you Dannico, the calculator does calculate down to final stats using every equation I could find on the wiki, all the way down to your final critical chance, attack rating, and even how much 1 stack of bleeding or confusion will cause.
I did not have critical chance round up on the spreadsheet because I felt people would want to see breakpoints.
Things I am looking to add to the main page
Damage Reduction from total armor, my google skills are weak, this is something people would want to see.
Exisiting soft caps on stats? I hear that power has a soft cap yet precision does not? If there are I will cause the user interface to change colors when you hit soft caps.
Things I would like to add later,
A trait page, I added in the functionality to change your class on this (originally it was for guardians only), it will only be a couple days worth of work to add in a trait page.
Maybe eventually I’ll add the rest of the rune effects to the sheet, the goal was the have something to keep track of my stats, not a character customization sheet. If someone with super webworking skills wants to make a calculator similar to gw2db (awesome pvp calculator) I’ll jump on that to help out, but I dont know how to code the webstuff, I pretty much made that entire excel file using the help files.

I am putting together a gear calculator (for pve, there are some excellent pvp ones out there) that is quite a bit more friendly than the ones I have found, it will Include any combination of stats on gear that I can find, and will work by dropdown menus on the main page instead of having to find the gear you want on seperate pages and put a 1 in a box.
Im setting it up to display as much detail as I can because I am a min/max guy (all the way down to how much my bleed does per stack), however I am running into an issue with the main character stat ‘attack’ for dual wielding.
Per the wiki and ingame testing,
Attack = Power + Weapon Maximum Damage,
however for dual wielding this doesnt hold true, and it doesnt just ignore the weapon damage of the offhand item either (say sword/warhorn combination)
Either my google skills are very poor, or I am a bit slower than I ought to be, can anyone help me find the equation for dual wielding?
I got needlessly frustrated over the last few days it seems.
I dont understand why they felt they had to slowly bring the players UP to full legendary stats.
I am glad to hear this stuff is available through many more methods than just the new fractal dungeon.
I am bummed that I have to regear my toons.First off, he made that post two days ago when this firestorm first hit the forums. It’s old news at this point. Secondly, he says it will be available through other means but doesn’t say when. You’ll note that it was not included in tonight’s patch. Finally, they also said GW2 wouldn’t have a gear treadmill and now we have one so their word means jack kitten to me. Bottomline is that if your first reaction to the news about ascended items was negative, there is nothing to find solace with in that post.
I read the article and then didnt log in since, I just saw that post today, no reason for you to get all jumpy over it. Yes the VAST majority of community response is negative, but I would rather play this than wow or starwow

This is a funcom level of disapointment, truly.
With 114 pages of responses it is obvious that there is a large playerbase that DOES not want stat progression on gear.
Anet, if you want to claim that you listened to the playerbase, do not listen to the 2 posts a day always by the same folks that want gear progression. Add the surveys you had in the betas that worked so awesome.
Im willing to swallow this update, barely, just because I have much faith in you with GW1
What needs to happen to not totally ruin what you stand for
1) ALL DUNGEON gear is upgraded to this stat level, its endgame gear afterall
2) The stat is available to WvW
3) Craftable
Turn exotic into rare drops
bump for justice, because a guildie was talking about something similar today
The reason there are bunkers is there is only one kind of map, capture points.
Add in
deathmatch
relic run
kill count
king of the hill
Then the bunker problem will solve itself
I just roled a mule to hold gear for my warrior, mesmer, and engineer (a lot for the engineer, I have 4 different builds I like to play depending on the phase of the moon and if it is tuesday or not)
I agree with you completly, the people that say ‘oh there are transmutations stones for this already’ Dont consider that the t stone destroys one of the items. I shouldnt be regrinding skins every time I want to change.
You ought to be able to both restat/reskin your gear and retrait your spec in town for a fee without having to visit a NPC
AND favorites ought to be saved (GW1 templates anyone?)
I’ll stop complaining when you tell me how to beat the cheeze perma stealth builds.
THey dont do big burst, but you can only hit them 1 second out of 10 while they beat the life out of you
What is the 3rd area? I only have 2
Ive been to clock tower, labrythn, and lunatic, but only have 2
What do you think of this topic
If you have an invisible bag, and put stuff in it, they do not go away when you deposit all collectibles
Something like

This is the 3rd thread in a day about the same issue, fairly popular topic
Not cheap, the kit would have synergy
Is Melee weapons limited to 5 person a attack? I dont think it is…. Just sayin melee has a use besides line pushing

I wish they caused blast combo finishers, even if it was every 3rd bomb
90% of the people fail at the beginning, around where the first chest is. I’ve completed the tower on all of my characters now
Swiftness helps a ton
Human
Warrior
Banner swiftness
You dont need the clock tower done for the halloween title, it doenst count
Just tested this on my lvl 50 engi, its hilarious even without the traits.
On his build, I am considering dropping the 30pt in explosives and the 10 in alchemy to get 15 in tools and carry the medpack.
If only there was a way to have75 skill points, having toolbelt skills rechage would be awesome
Anyone else having issues getting #1 to be automatic?
Does the tools 15skill recharge the F1 from medkit?
Yea the default UI is great (because it is simple) but I want to be able to add things to it.
Something like this isn’t necessary, however I love using potions and food in PvE games that allow it. This suggestion is very elderscrolls like, but its wanted. This would be disabled in PvP/WvW, the quickslots would not be visible.
Create a seperate inventory panes, one for food, one for potions
Food
———————
Create 6 slots, put your favorite foods (might as well make 7 because everyone will use Omnoms lol)
Potion
———————
One spot for each type of potion, as you put potions in there, the highest strength potion will be consumed first (strong vs weak nightmare slaying for example)
U/I
—————————-
On the bottom near the minimap, between that and the skillbar, create two quickslots (like skills). You select the food/potion that goes into them the same way you change skills (using the ^ thats above the quickslot)
This would be a fun little change, its all about convencience.
======
A needed change however, since this games gear progression is HORIZONTAL, is a system to respec your gear. Give us a NPC that resets our gear attributes. IN GW1 this was not an issue because your attributes were not determined by your gear, in GW2 this is not the case. A very excellent thread was posted by myself about customization somewhere lost in this forum, and a more excellent thread by someone else can be found on this link
Save my inventory slots, I had to make a mule to carry my warriors gear
=====
Except that the majority of worthwhile exotics dont cost gold, they cost tokens
If you have an invisible bag, items there (minipets) do not go away when you deposit all collectibles
I agree with you completly, I didnt see your thread when I made my post here
With horizontal gear progression, something MUST be done or inventory space goes to all hell. Especially if you also need to change between insignia and rune type, not just look type
I’m amazed that in a game with horizontal gear progression, a system like this isnt already in place. I have the max amount of bank space available, filling quickly with gear for when I want to change my build, and when I find a better look by mixing dungeon gears around… oh the pain on my inventory space. I shouldnt need Mule characters in todays MMOs
Actually due to all the gold sinks and the artificial demand created by Anet, prices remain relativly low in anything you need in game, which is not a poor mans economy, and which is a very healthy economy for all players due to the ease of making gold
I had that same idea, implemented a little different, but we are on the same page
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Customization-and-Inventory-space/first#post495756
I suggested a system for it, you still have to collect the item piece multiple times, but you can freely change between sets after you do so in that system.
It sucks that the majority of attribute points are on gear in this game
Support isnt hard to bring, as a full dps type character bring some….
Immobilize, the mob cant turn around and usually it interrupts its attack animation, although that may be a bug, but it slows down incomming damage
Blind, next hit misses
Weakness, take less damage
Fear, its really nice to fear enemies into a corner or against a wall and keep them all together
Knockback, same reason as fear
Any amount of CC, generally if you can spam your CC on cooldown it helps a little, even if only 1 in 6 actually work. It is fairly easy to CC lock a mob between 3 people using thier CCs on cooldown, and I run a hammer build in dungeons for this reason
So, looking above your DPS build doesnt have to spec into healing, or giving boons to allies,or being fully tanky to be supportive at all, those things really do help a dungeon group
Forgot to add, need the ability to save armor combinations, was pretty much the whole point of the thread, to quickly and easily save between different armor builds
If you find yourself needing to swap out complete sets of armor between situations, you’re doing something wrong.
But if you really insist on it, at least make it cost some of the original materials, such as the respective insignia plus a coin fee. And add a decent cooldown to it to avoid it being abused.
So when I play a greatsword build, I wear full berserker gear, because I want to be glassy and hit hard and kill things in one or two hits.
When I run dungeons I play hammer, and wear full knights to be tankier and not die in one hit.
When I run dungeons I sometimes play sword conditions if I dont need to run hammer, in this case I run a mix of Rampagers and Carrions.
My jewels also get switched out a lot depending on my build.
I do not see what I am doing wrong, there is no one build fits every situation in this game.
Anet encourages changing your setup to match the situation, I have to go to work soon or I would look up the dev post for that. If that were not the case the UI would not support a simple mouse click to change your utility skills in between fights.
Forgot to add, need the ability to save armor combinations, was pretty much the whole point of the thread, to quickly and easily save between different armor builds
To be a little more specific, this does nothing to reduce the grind in the game, if I need a berserker Arah chest piece and a rampager Arah chest piece, I still have to collect two of them, but I now have the ability to change between the two without using up inventory space or a fine transmutation stone.
Its basically a change to the trasmutation system
I love the options for stat customization available in PvE, however, some things need to change.
We need the ability to change the prefix (the inscription). We had this ability in GW1, why we dont have it in GW2 I dont know. It takes up inventory space having to recollect a piece of gear.
What I suggest is making level 80 exotic gear work like a system of unlocks once you get your first exotic piece. There are three things you can change, for a small fee of a few silvers to reset.
The armor skin
The prefix
The rune
You have to unlock each piece of gear seperatly, for instance, if I put a rune of the thief and a rune of the mesmer on my chest piece, I can now change between those two runes on my chest piece for a reset fee, however I dont have those runes unlocked for my legs. This would be specific to the gear piece (each armor skin)
Same for the armor skin, and the prefix
This wouldnt adversly affect rune prices, your still required to buy it for each skin you unlock, if anything you would rise the rune price for completionists like myself who would want to unlock all runes/prefixes for all skins.
This would also add another needed gold sink to the game
This would also greatly save on inventory space for everyone
This is needed change for classes (such as warrior) who run different builds in different situations, for example
If I play greatsword, I run full berserker
If I play in dungeons, I run hammer, using knights to be tanky
If I play dps in dungeons, I run sword bleeds, needing a mix of carrion and rampager
Along with this change, the ability to save gear setups (much like in GW1) should come with it. Anytime you regear, you pay a reset fee.
Another greatly needed change is the dungeon tokens need to be made into an account currency
edit for clarification
(edited by Taerik.3405)
The currency idea is a great one
Engineer for DE leveling
I bought extra bank slots JUST for this purpose, and its already full of gear, lvl 80 exotics
I support the locker!
If WvW was a complete failure I wouldnt be waiting in queues for it every night.
It has some issues, like orbs being too powerful, but a failure that does not make. (However matchups should change twice a week)
Anytime something is not 100% perfect for you, does not mean that is a failure, I would say wvw is a resounding success as a pvp mode considering how many people play it non stop all day 24/7
It is everything sieges in Age o Conan should have been and more, from how siege works, to how often turnover of locations work
It poops all over SWTORs Ilum
I play on a server with a large WvW playerbase, while usually we outnumber our adversaries after the fourth day because they give up, many times I have succesfuly defended and taken a keep against a zerg with 5 people, siege weapons are vastly underutilized by everyone, and they work something awesome.
I agree we need more options of gear customization. I ought to be able to change not only the rune, but also the insignia of gear on the fly.
A system similar to guild wars 1 would even be fine, where you had perfect salvage kits (so you wouldnt break your armor) To pull off what you dont want, and then put on what you do want without having to get multiple pieces of the same gear.
I would much rather see a system of unlocks much like pvp characters had. It would work something like
You get a new piece of armor, say you just picked up the CM chest piece.
For one you now have that chest piece unlocked, and can switch to it anytime you go to your bank NPC.
Two, anytime you apply a new insignia or rune to that chest piece, it unlocks that combination for that chest piece, so you can just click on the fly to change between knights and berserkers. (this unlock would need to be done individually for each armor item to prevent crashing rune prices, most people only apply a rune to a item once so this wouldnt drop the price, if anything people would now buy more runes to unlock more options)
