More updates than MMOs with Subs?

Tamaki Revolution.3548

My perception is less updates. We haven’t had a real lasting content patch in several months now. The game is getting stale, we need updates and bug fixes.

We need a rework of world drop rates and the ability to get items from killing monsters reliably too, a lot of us have been waiting months for these updates.

I give them a B-, because at least it’s not as slow as other games, but even with patches every month they seem hollow and empty of any substance.

So Guild missions aren’t real content. Gotcha.

Nope, not for small guilds. Will never see them. Well maybe in 6 months we can unlock a few. Plus it’s not content I or anyone else in the guild is excited for or wants to do.

So what else have they added again? Keep trying.

Because you refuse to do the public guild missions offered on many servers. That’s your own problem. I have smaller guilds that do guild missions with my guild, just because they want to get the guild commendations. Then they go back to representing their own guilds. They get stuff without the grind, we get extra help. It’s a win/win.

When do you run those? My solo guild and I would be interested :P

You’re right, the real mmo players will just go back to WoW since it has more content. Its sad seeing all these mmo’s compete against WoW, when no one can really out-WoW, WoW. They have to do something different or no one will stay. GW2 I guess finds its carebear casual niche or w/e.

Though you have to note that WoW does new content for hardcore gamers right, in that ppl rarely, if ever, complain that they have nothing to do. And the casuals have a lot of things to do as well, that’s how good mmo’s are made.

The term “hardcore gamers” makes me laugh on the inside.

I may just be getting old :P

More updates than MMOs with Subs?

Tamaki Revolution.3548

Most of the updates were definitely pointless. Blizzard had countless updates and tweaks to the game every day. But, WoW also had about 4 times the content that Guild Wars 2 has at the moment, so I found myself happy with the amount of content I could complete until an expansion came out. In other words, I didn’t need the constant updates that GW2 has to do constantly when I was playing WoW. So GW2 has a lot more updates than WoW, but WoW’s updates were better, with less bugs.

There’s a big big reason for this that most players have ignored or outright lied about trying to make it not happen.

PTR.

WoW used the PTR big time and it saved the players alot of headaches in the long run. This game uses some kind of weird testing I’ve never seen before in any mmo out even the F2P ones that are old as dirt as well as the ones just released, they all have PTR’s. It’s just essential to make sure that mistakes don’t happen, mistakes like the three weakest classes in this game.

I find it weird that this game doesn’t have a test server.

It’s kind of an illusion, like a lot of things in this game. We’re being tricked to pay more than a sub for a lesser game than a sub-based one.

Really? I’ve spent about £30 in the gem store since launch, and for that I’ve gotten 8 months of play time and a bunch of extra items. In a sub game that would have gotten me, what? 2 months of permission to play the game I’d already paid for. And an invitation to spend the same again in the cash shop, because I don’t think there is an online game without one these days.

Some people do spend more than they would on a sub. But that’s their choice, if they don’t want to or can’t afford it or whatever they can keep on playing, whereas if you don’t pay your subscription you can’t play at all, even the content you’ve already paid for.

And in full f2p it could give you years of gameplay so what’s your point?

A lot of f2p games give you 2 character slots, and charge for certain areas. I tried to play ToR again recently, and I got to do like 1 WZ a day. Also doesn’t Lotr charge for the later zones?

There are plenty of other games that give you full content, you just named games that failed as p2p, they are always like that.

Yeah, but who’s going to play Maple Story? :P I also hated Neverwinter.

Then don’t say about this game having more content then other, just by putting some achievement now end then doesn’t make it “real” content. Only big content i have seen is MF dungeon and those solo missions (SAB is a joke to any MMO)

Oh, I wasn’t defending this game. Just saying most f2p games (from the start) are a joke :P I’m actually hoping my next MMO has a sub.

SAB was awesome btw >.>

Vayne did mention rift :P I personally uninstalled it a few hours in, but it’s f2p now.

I think I give a lot of leeway to games when it comes to end game. My first MMO, CoH, took like 6 1/2 years to get one. Of course I got burnt out about 6 months into the iTrials (raids).

Legendaries will have ascended stats once they come out with Ascended weapons, but I don’t even care about ascended trinkets now for normal pve/wvw :P Unless you really want the skin (I just want Bolt to fill out that stupid last place marker in the log in screen), they’re not really needed.

2. There are pay to win items.
Yes this is minor, but their presence is a serious pain. I count rez orbs, repair toolkits and upgrades, I might be missing some. Repair tools are essential in high level fractals as they allow you to avoid the one thing (theoretically) that can prevent you from completing a fractal level: armor breaking. Rez orbs feel awkward, but upgrades are a straight pay to win incentive! The fact that they are minor do not take away anything.

What the hell are you talking about? :P

Mob skipping is fine for me. In CoH, all I did was speed runs where you’d skip like 85%+ of the “dungeons”. Sounds like you just need a static group and need to get used to dodging.

I’m not a fan of dungeons here though, and only run CM while highly intoxicated :P So I can semi see your point.

Dagger storm would be my favorite. Mesmers have two good ones. I like Guardian’s RF and Warrior’s signet, though both are boring. Supply crate is fun for Engs, RaO is awesome for Rangers. My necro always has Flesh Golem out, and Ele’s Fiery Greatsword is pretty cool.

I’d have to say it depends on what you’re doing (Dungeons, normal Pve, WvW, spvp). Although I’d give it to thieves, since all 3 are viable, with a close second to Mesmers.
