Is anything being done about conditions?

Title. I want to know if I’ll be able to actually run a viable condition build at some point.

Thanks.

Conditions have always been viable. In fact, they’re incredibly powerful except in every aspect of the game outside of dungeons and zerg content. Are conditions ever going to be capable of 100k bursts? No. That flies in the face of DoT/attrition style play. Apples will never be the same as oranges.

The fact that my conditions, as a condition build, get overwritten as soon as someone auto attacks that has a condition is flawed. I can have +1000 condition damage and as soon as some zerker warrior with a rifle uses their auto attack, that 1000 damage bleed on the mob is now a 70 dmg bleed.

To say that conditions are fine in any content that isn’t solo is flat out wrong. Sorry.

Why in the name of all that’s holy is the entire party kicked when the party leader leaves or gets kicked? Twice today on a 40+ fractal I’ve been kicked out with an entire party because 1 person leaves or gets disconnected.

What the hell kind of design is that? Please tell me this is going to be looked at soon because right now it’s pointless to even waste time.

How conditions work on world bosses?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TehPwnerer.7215

TehPwnerer.7215

Basically, any incoming condition stacks override existing stacks of the condition on the World Boss. This means that for easily applied conditions such as Bleeding, chances are your stacks will be overriden almost instantly as soon as you apply them. It’s not that Bleeding/Poison/Burning etc. don’t affect World Bosses; it’s just that YOUR contribution for those conditions will likely only last for a tick or two at most. (Conditions like Torment or Confusion are much more rarely applied, which is why you see them lasting longer. Incidentally, this is a handy trick for characters who struggle to get credit at World Bosses. Since those conditions are rarer and last longer, you can improve your chances at getting credit by inflicting those conditions as you won’t be competing with other players.)

This limit means that having excessive amounts of characters who specialise in condition damage is pointless at World Bosses. It’s a flaw that condi users have been complaining about since Day 1.

Right.. My brother and I have been complaining about that since day 1 and how anything but berserker is pointless. Are there any hopes of this being fixed?

Rewards after two years of GW2

You got to play an mmorpg for only one box sell price for 2 years that seems reward in its self. I do not get it at what point did playing video games where no longer the reward for spending money from work? Its like saying ice cream is part of your dinner and you should be given something for eating it after you eaten the main meal.

Except every time you get the ice cream it comes served to you melted. The game won’t improve if Anet doesn’t hear feedback and right now, as it has always been, rewards are utterly pointless and unrewarding entirely.

Right now you say or what? If you give ppl too many rewarded the reason to play is removed you need something to work to and if you have every thing then you stop working.

You comply missed my point the ice cream is something on the lines of rewarding you at the end of your meal it was a sweet to make a kid eat things they would not like i am talking about the ice cream for ppl has become part of the meal and not the rewarded it self. The same could be said with video games we play games because they are fun not because we are going to be rewarded in a game for playing it.

That’s all fine and good, but I have gotten literally 0 exotic drops since launch. 0. Not a single exotic has dropped for me off of a mob or from a chest. Since launch. There’s a point where it gets out of control.

How conditions work on world bosses?

TehPwnerer.7215

How do conditions work if more than 1 person applies the same conditions to a world boss?

I was doing Claw of Jormag today and was using rifle / sword & sword on my warrior and realized that the only conditions that I saw showing up were my torment – despite using bleeds on my rifle.

If several people are applying the same conditions to the boss, I see that the stacks remain at 25 for that condition but how does the actual damage work? Is each person doing their own condition damage to it or is basically whoever has the most condition damage doing the damage while others are simply refreshing the stacks?

I’d love some sources on where this info is gathered as well please.

Thanks!

Edit: I was just told at Tequatl that condition dmg is pointless. So is that true? Are conditions pointless? I can’t find anywhere on the wiki that has clarification on my question.

I do not think the rewards in this game are worth it. And don’t even get me started on precursor drops.

I don’t think it’s worth the effort to redo all the current weapons with the available colors, so I woudn’t hold my breath.

What do you mean? You think they’ve developed every armor set with every color combination? The colors are applied to the armor sets. Anet didn’t have to go and make 200+ versions of every armor piece to account for color schemes.

At 28 seconds in on this song, a familiar song from Guild Wars plays.. but I can’t seem to find it on Youtube and it’s really bothering me. Does anyone know what song from GW1 starts playing at 28 seconds in?

they said after the end of the living story season one they were gonna take a break to give out a lot of living quality improvements. maybe this is one of them.

Doubtful as any Anet dev that plays the game can always get into the main server so it doesn’t really affect them does it, I was stuck in OF for 7 hours yesterday, a friend guested over to my server was in the same OF and 10 mins later it popped for them to join main server, they did, and they where in the main server of my world not there own, so guests can get into main servers but people native to them worlds cannot, so I was stuck in an OF server hoping that events would get completed, ( as many others where too )

I hope whoever decided OF was a good idea no longer works for Anet, they should have stuck to the same design as GW1 where it become district 1, 2, 3, 4 etc that allows you to move.

I proposed the district system back in beta. So did plenty of others. Look how well suggestions work out around here.

Tormented weapons should have been exclusive to players with accounts in GW1, and who had Tormented weapons in their HoM. I don’t agree with them being shared with everyone.

Why should they have been exclusive to guild wars 1 players? The existence of tormented weapons doesn’t affect the weapons you currently have in gw1. Also where was this argument with respect to destroyer weapon?

Honestly, I hope anet adds more gw1 weapons and armor, especially the Obsidian armor.

Because maybe Anet should do something new instead taking things from a game they’ve been trying forever to cut themselves from.
Zodiac, aetherblade, and some of the weapons sets (except sclerite) were welcome additions.
But now we have this unwonted pandering to GW1 players?
Doesn’t make any sense, unless um Anet is doing this solely for the purpose of stripping the bills from our wallets.
There’s not even any lore or explanation for their sudden appearance. There’s not even Elona (or will there ever be). They just appear!

This is my biggest problem with this aside from the obvious method of which it was introduced (RNG). IF Elona ever comes out, these would have been a perfect dungeon token reward set for a new dungeon introduced. But now we already have it so what the hell is the point?

I mean seriously.
“Oh here’s a new update and we know there’s not a lot inside, but here, have some old GW1 weapons because we needed to pad the update and didn’t want to work very hard.”

What a joke.

GW1 is an entirely different game. Game GW1 players do not ‘deserve’ rewards in GW2. It’s nice that they provided a link, but that’s because Anet chooses to.

If Anet released a Torment weapons in their gem shop in GW1, hey, I can understand.

But GW2 is an entirely different game and you shouldn’t be holding it as a leash to GW1.

Imagine a Gw3 is made and you can buy rng boxes for a shot at a twilight or sunrise skin because that’s the level of prestige that the torment weapons were for gw1 players.

Wow. I would be sad

Right. That’s how us GW1 players feel. Everything from Gw1 is being added as cheap RNG “rewards.”

I haven’t played the game since December because of all the crappy stuff that gets added to the game. 90% of every update is just gem store nonsense so I don’t even bother.

Ahh yes, because you have not played you know that 90% of the update is gemstore? This last patch was about 10% store with 90% being LS events. Please do not post your knowledge of something that you do not even play.

This last patch is an hour or two worth of events and $1000 worth of gemstore items.

Tormented Weapons – 60-100 Gold in game, so at Gem – > Gold rate, about $20.
Minis – 500 gems, $6.25
New guild finisher, 800 gems, $10.00

Total: ~36.25

Difference from your total, $1000-36.25 = $963.75

Really not much else to say, besides learn to math.

As in a previous post in this thread, I’m referring to the cost of Black Lion Chest Keys required to get the 19 new weapons at an average of about $56 each, plus the $36 from the two other gemstore items. A total of over $1000 in gem store merchandise.

Don’t worry it’s cool you can work your butt off for an hour or two to get a hat that will collect dust in your bank.

Don’t forget to buy more bank tabs!

Gw2 would not exist without Gw1 and the players who spent their hard earned dollars(or other tender) there to support that game, Gw2 players should be mindful and at least somewhat thankful or respectful in that sense. 50/50 was a bigger grind than anything in gw2 to date yet including making all of the current legendary weapons. They also outlined you would get rewards for the HoM 30/50 would have item rewards anything past that was titles. They’ve given us (Gw1 vets) some decent things even if they chose to take the fell blade and release it as a purple champ weapon re-textured and 1 handed.

Imagine a Gw3 is made and you can buy rng boxes for a shot at a twilight or sunrise skin because that’s the level of prestige that the torment weapons were for gw1 players.

But to be honest this game is getting really tiresome with its constant Gem-Store only Gw1 themed or existing content. With the seemingly endless supply of white knights who defend garbage practices that insult the players who supported the franchise, its no wonder why fewer people who played since launch disappear day by day which is sad since most core game-play elements are actually solid x.×.

Hit the nail right on the head. This is just pure insulting.

Tormented Weapons………

As a 50/50 & GWAMM player of GW1 I gotta say I am kittened off beyond belief right now. Not because they were added – I’m glad to see more GW1 stuff make its way into GW2. But RNG BOXES? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I am so done right now it’s not even funny. I haven’t logged in since December to the forums or to the game, but I logged in specifically to say how distasteful all this RNG bullkitten is and how EVERYTHING added is through the gem store or through RNG.

Great job Nexon – you did it again. You ran a great franchise into the ground by ruling out skill and bringing in luck and microtransaction requirements instead.

I am just so furious that everything added is done through RNG boxes. Not to mention it’s clear at this point that we’ll never see significant weapon skins or armor added to the game that DON’T require microtransactions.

GW1 players rejoice. You can soon earn all GW1 loot by spending 100s of dollars to MAYBE get a few weapon scraps!

I’m unsubscribing to the email updates and am going to continue to not log in. This makes me so upset to see ArenaNet and Guild Wars go from so great in GW1 to abysmally awful in GW2.

But as it stands, requiring us to buy 1 of everything for each character (if we choose) is just nickle and diming. I will not spend a dime on their store until they make all armor, costume, helmet, back pieces, weapon skins (you get the idea) account-unlocked on purchase just like the zenith skins in the hero panel.

A quick google search will give you the confirmation you seek

Some of our players believe that because we are doing this Living World seasons, and these features or these big feature-builds, that it means that the features you would traditionally get in an expansion, or the content you would traditionally get in an expansion, is not something that will get added to Guild Wars 2. And that is not true at all.

“Not only are we doing those things, new features and content you would traditionally get from a boxed expansion are also things that will be added to Guild Wars 2.

“The thing that we haven’t decided yet,” he went on, "is what form that type of content will take. Is it right for Guild Wars 2 for that kind of boxed expansion? Is it right for that to be something we add, live, through storylines in the game? Is that something we want to sell through our in-game store? There are a lot of different options available to us.

“… but we absolutely are going to do sweeping new features that you would traditionally only get in expansions – large regions, content and progression additions to your characters in the form of growth and professions and races. Those are all things that you will see in the lifespan of Guild Wars 2.

You know, like I already told you in the other thread.

And yes, they have already stated that they have a large content team working behind the scenes of the LS folks.

I’ve learned to take everything anyone from ArenaNet says with a couple of teaspoons of salt. Remember they also said this:

ArenaNet won’t stoop to selling unfair pay-to-win Gem Store (real-money store) items either, he assured me.

Source

Free content:
Sorrow’s Furnace
Domain of Anguish
Hard Mode
GW Beyond.

All of those together are at least equal to all the LS we got so far… and are in addition to the expansions.

I remember when all those updates launched and how pumped everyone was. They took time to release, they were quality updates, they are still played today, they were free – just like living story. The big difference is that all the stuff mentioned is still available to play and enjoy in GW1 – whereas each living story update has hours of content, if that, and then goes away forever.

Also just for everyone’s info, to this day people are still doing War in Kryta, other GW Beyond storylines, DoA, FoW, UW, etc. GW1 is still very much alive.

LS defenders don’t want permanent content, and arguing with them is pointless.

Like I’ve said before, I don’t mind the LS at all, as long as there is an expansion being worked on in the background. The LS is something merely to tide you over until substantial and permanent content is added to the game. Which surely HAS to happen at some point, I would hope. I’m not going to begin to say I know the first thing about game development, but would it be crazy to have a Living Story team that added content to GW2 while another much larger team works on an expansion? Maybe that’s what’s going on at Anet. I’d just love to hear it from their mouths.

You won’t hear anything from them. It really is a shame to see a franchise like Guild Wars, with so much potential, be reduced to what GW2 currently is. I agree LS would be a great addition to tie between expansions. But LS on its own? Waste of developer time, resources, company time and resources, and overall non-enjoyable experience.

The problem, I believe, is with the model Anet chose for the living story. They went with episodic TV where after each adventure everything resets and a new adventure begins. This has given us temporary content and grindy temporary achievements.

I am a believer in the concept of an evolving living world. But, it should be an evolving living world. That is, they should have aimed at giving us expansion-like content, but delivered over time. This would give us an evolving world, story, and permanent (non-grindy) achievements to pursue.

Which may have been the goal, but as we can see, the execution was horrible and here is what we have. They wasted a YEAR on this story, and we don’t have anywhere close to “an expansion’s worth of content.”

What do you think after a year of LS?

I’m confused where we aren’t getting new content. Eotm was a rather substantial update.

THIS is a substantial update:
-new story
-41 new armor sets, including rare, stand-alone pieces
-100 new profession-specific skills (10 per profession, none of which are elite)
-50 new PvE only skills including 3 elite skills
-10 new heroes
-18 Dungeons
-124 new quests
-The Hall of Monuments
-4 new regions (which were comprised of 24 zones, yes that’s right, 24!)

This is what we got for one of the gw1 expansions (eye of the north)

And you paid full price for it…

I gladly did. It was well worth it. I rather have top content for a price, than garbage for nothing.

That seems to be the recurring theme here. GW1 had so much I was WILLING to pay for. Their cash shop items, were very far between and their expansions provided interesting story, setting, and additions to the base game.

I’d gladly shell out cash for something that I wanted than be force-fed a bunch of garbage I don’t want and thank them for it just because “it’s free.”

Know what else is free? Having someone kick me in the groin. But don’t expect me to want it or thank them afterwards just because it was free.

They chose to go the “temporary free content every 2 weeks” route instead of the “permanent, long lasting paid content every 6 – 12 months”.

The difference between the two delivery systems is more than “how often” and “how much”.

I’d rather pay 30 extra dollars every 6 months to get content that lasts me years instead of sitting there twiddling my thumbs for two weeks on a free update that takes hours to complete.

Also refer to the edit I made to the post you quoted:

Also, let’s not forget that ArenaNet did what far too often many developers do. They tried to cater to too many different types of players while alienating the fans and type of player that made their games popular in the first place. If GW1 had not been successful, there’d be no GW2.

So logically, they went the route of screwing over the very players that made their first game popular and enjoyable in favor of players who wouldn’t stick with the game anyway. Had GW2 actually been as advertised and been a sequel to GW1, been everything we loved about GW1 but improved upon, then GW2 would have a booming playerbase of people who loved GW1 and are now content with GW2 replacing the first game for them.

What they got instead is a bunch of peeved veterans and fans of the first game leaving GW2 because they tried to make it too much like (insert other MMO here), while the players who came from that other MMO have already gone back because GW2 doesn’t cater to them like their old game did.

To clarify from my last post. In GW1, at 18 months, we had:

Prophecies
-they added Sorrows Furnace
-they added FoW and UW

Factions was out
- Hundred of new skills, complete new continents, two new professions

Nightfall was only 2-3 months away.
- hundreds of more skills, another whole continent, two new professions.

Compared to GW2, where after 18 months we have.

- Fractals
- two new skills
- one new dungeon path, but they removed the old one.
- nothing else that’s been permanent.

This is the complaint.

You can keep comparing these two games all you want, but one of them is an MMO and another is not. That’s a big difference in design.

Guild Wars 1:
Requires online connection
Has interaction with other people around the world
Not considered an MMO.

Logic. I know Anet said it wasn’t an MMO themselves, but to use that as a basis for your argument is just silly. You can make the claim all day, and the claim is correct, but that doesn’t change anything about the pace or frequency of updates in GW1 compared to GW2.

Why not have a trading system?

But people still do it anyway, but with no trade feature they just get scammed most of the time.

What server are you on, because on FA, we see a WTS message about once an hour, followed promptly by uproarious laughter and full-on mockery. Take you junk to the TP and post it.

And come on, who doesn’t miss Spamadan in a weird sort of way?

After logging into a few older MMOs this week and getting reacquainted/spattered from head to toe with spam… No. I don’t miss the Great Slouching Beast at all .

And what of the rest of my post?

Claiming that LS gives us more than an expansion’s worth of content is a freaking joke. With that logic, every expansion every game (including GW1) should give us, should be taken away in a few months right before the next expansion.

Early on I was all for the living story changes until I learned that just about 90+ percent of all changes in every patch note was temporary. The other 10% was a mix of gem store items which may or may not also be temporary.

When we get 3000 posts maybe some dev will come and post a single sentence reply on Cantha.

Wishful thinking. The devs are trying to forget Cantha even existed. Or have you not been paying attention?

The fees counteract inflation (to an extent), not to mention it stops the reincarnation of spamadan.

I just really fail to see how me trading someone something specific in an impromptu transaction has to result in either me listing an item on the TP for 1c less than the previous so he can buy it, or B, me mailing my item and risking getting nothing in return.

Again. It’s 2014.. Some MMO standards are standards for a reason.
