Build uses Staff + Scepter/Pistol

While Scepter/torch is playable since the mage afflicts burning now, pistol offhand with it’s fast attackspeed and the dueling traitline go well together, not to mention you get an additional interrupt

Runes – Superior rune of perplexity, 20% confusion duration and 5 stacks of confusion for 8 seconds (without the 33% + 20% confusion duration increase) when you interrupt.

Sigils – Corruption – 250 condition damage
Bursting – 6% condition damage
Earth – 60% chance for a 5 second bleed (no ICD)

Some of the traits and skills can be changed, like illusionary defense to master of manipulation and blink to mimic 2 feedbacks or 2 stuns

with the amount of condition damage this build can pump out, i’d say yes.

with the stat changes and base stats, we might end up with more condition damage than we can get right now. also, there are lots of ways to apply conditions with the new trait changes

How about implementing pseudo random loot drops compared to present randomness of loot drops.

honestly, it’s been months since i’v ever seen the face of an exotic item while i hunt creatures around the parts of the world, while some players i know get 3 of them in a day. but, This is not a rant thread

so.. by making it pseudo random, for example: The more time passes without an exotic, the higher the chance gets to getting an exotic (can be capped at a % if needed) and if you get an exotic, the chance lessens to find another one.

As pointed out, you don’t understand the meaning of the term you are using, which is bad when you are interacting with those that do. The drops are already pseudorandom.

Adding more exotics will not help the economy. It is a bigger thing than your personal wallet. What it will do is lead to the devaluation of the existing exotics in the game. Your short term gain will turn into another nail in your coffin in probably a couple weeks’ time.

For starters, loot isn’t pseudo random in gw 2 and it’s unfortunate, that u haven’t read what i’v written precisely.. the exotics wont grow but the same % of the items that are dropping now, will drop after my suggestion. But, rather than luckily going to a player, it’s better spread out between players.

just to make the suggestion clearer – if u dont get an item, the chances go up, if u did get an item, the chances go down. for example — if the chance for an exotic drop is at 2%, it can go upto 3% or fall down to 1%.. eventually the average will be similar to the player playing but.. rather than players going through a dull period of months without any good drops and another player being lucky, it just evens the field out.

also, i do know what pseudo random means :P (it’s random, but it isn’t)

magic find is a one way route.. it only increases the chance, and as we still notice, player with lesser than 100% magic find sometimes find lot more exotics than a 250% magic find player.

so incrementally, if u notice.. 2 players with 100% magic find have the same issue i mentioned above

This way, i think the randomness in guild wars 2 can only be improved, and most importantly it makes it worth while to do any event, champion, even kill a random mob in the map.

Also, this way rather than a player finding 10 exotics in a month and another one finding 0, it starts getting balanced, also the economy gets better, not that it isn’t good as it is.

Timewarp – Similar to bloodlust is a mesmer elite skill
Mesmers also have polymorph (polymorph the opponent for 10 seconds)

All classes are in demand since there’s no holy trinity, Some classes are more so than others specifically for fast dungeon runs (mostly elitist groups)

About Damage of each class – (dungeons, fractals and world content)

Warriors – High dps easily achieved (tanky 18k+hp without vitality at 80)
Thief – Squishy but good utility along with high dps
Elementalist – Can conjure elemental weapons, high dps and squishy
Necromancer – High dps condition build, (tanky 18k
hp without vitality at 80)
Mesmer – Relies on clones, phantasms and reflects to deal damage, medium/high dps
Guardian – High dps, great support, 10k
hp but tanky due to buffs
Ranger – medium/high dps, some utility
Engineer – medium/high dps, good utility

Also, the damage numbers change a lot based on your current group in a dungeon or fractals. For example, if your group in a dungeon already has a condition damage player inflicting lots of bleeds, poison, burn etc, a condition necro or an engineer wont suffice. Not taking the fact away that necro also has other non-condition builds.

All in all – play the class you like, new traits(talents) and a few more changes incoming which will change the way each class is being played now

Well.. to start off with, gw 2 can be a casual, elitist or even a grindy game depending upon how you want to go by it.

Also, i was a member of “chaos order” and a few other top guilds (dont remember them too well) in stormscale in wow (eu) and we had pretty hardcore raiding back in those days :-) i can understand where you’re coming from.

i’ll be honest with you, imo wow has become repetative, boring and the graphics are not worth mentioning, few of the many reasons why i’v switched over to gw 2.

Some of the things you might be interested in while getting into gw 2 —-

1. Unified Trading Post (Same Auction house for all servers NA & EU included)
2. Jumping Puzzles (MUST PLAY)
3. Guild Missions (Guild Puzzle, Guild Trek, Guild Rush etc)
4. As you already know, every class can heal or tank along with dps
5. EPIC World Bosses integrated seamlessly into the world (not instanced)
6. Levelling isn’t boring unlike wow infact it’s one of the best features
7. Lots of secrets and lore bits around the maps
8. Dynamic levels (Scale down or Scale up levels of your character automatically)
9. Events and Hearts (No running back to the quest giver to recieve rewards)
10. Most Importantly, freedom to play the game the way we want to

Bonus —-

1. Engineers imo are the hardest class to master
2. World vs World (Server vs Server vs Server) season 2 ongoing atm
3. The world feels alive with non-static npc’s who chat, move, work etc
4. Ever Changing World (The neutral city – Lions Arch was completely destroyed not so long ago and lies in ruins)
5. Big Feature Patch incoming – april 15th

oh well.. if u dont think it’s OP.. there’s another idea to make it so :P

A trait which improves mimic on it’s copy functionality granting the copied skill to inherit all it’s trait buffs.
for example : copy grenade kit comes with +1 grenade, + explosion dmg, explosions bleed etc etc.. lol if only.. such a thing gets implemented, it’d be very similar to how “arcane larceny” or “arcane mimicry”

well i use greatsword anyway :-) i can open with a zerker and switch to sword/focus to get a headstart while running closer to the target(s). This active if it’s working as the description suggests just makes it much more powerful

Conclusion – Pulse every 2 seconds seems logical, 3 seconds is way too low and 1 second is uhm..

As pyro mentioned, recharging the attack of the phantasm doesn’t make sense, cause lets say u heal when the phantasm has 1 second to attack, which makes the active other than the heal literally useless. Along with 20% signet recharge, makes this a good dps ability if healing isn’t what u need in the situation.

yeah but if it’s the attack of the phantasm that is recharged, it’ll be similar to phantasmal haste. “Reduces recharge on phantasm attack skills.”

assuming, there no “attack” anywhere in the heal skill means the phantasm skill is recharged.

well it’s mentioned “Heal yourself and refresh all phantasm skill recharges” so… as i understand it, it recharges the phantasm skills.

and if it’s supposed to be phantasm attack recharge, would be mentioned as “Heal yourself and refresh all phantasm attacks” or something of that sort. skills in this game mean the skills on our skill bar :P

i personally like this one since it’s got a passive healing (it just heals, got nothing to do with regen @lindbur.2537) and the active i’m guessing the healing done is low but phantasm skill recharge is amazing, i could go pew pew with 2 izerkers for good aoe dmg.. or 2 staff phantasms.. soo many possibilities.

i’m already looking at the heal as a good dps improvement :-)

And also the phantams give regeneration (Phantasmal Healing) trait, the aoe of that is really small.
example : i have a sword/pistol.. and i use a pistol phantasm before going closer to the mob cause i want the phantasm to stay alive, i never get regen out of it. Comparitively.. if i’v put many points into the inspiration trait line, it’ll be good to have regen if not aoe, atleast the mesmer for keeping a phantasm up for lets say.. 5 seconds every 10 seconds or 3 seconds every 7 seconds or something of that sort

While Symbol of Swiftness change is nice.. atleast it had a +1 second recharge on swiftness ability now it’s better.. Mesmer’s temportal curtain hasn’t been touched.. doesn’t add swiftness if the player already has swiftness, it’s quite annoying at times when that happens in zergs or champion runs or even dungeons.. it’s like a wasted skill when the player gets swiftness right about the time he puts down a temporal curtain

The Wizard's Tower

If u think about living story 5-6 months from now, imagine there might be different threats over at different places with kraits, scarlet, dragon and many more dangers around the world not counting the new areas on the map that might be unlocked. Regarding the players playing the living story and forgetting whats happened, anet mentioned they’r looking for a way to make the living story more meaningful by giving us in game lore of whats happened till now, but that’s a post for another day.

I don’t really think they have a valid plan anymore. The game is literally all over the place with no solid direction. Most the time it feels like they have 5 or 6 team’s that work completely independent of each other creating content that they shoe horn into the game. The wizard tower was most likely a lore idea from one of the team’s that is no longer even on the radar. Why because one of the other team’s decided to build that big tower in the middle of a lake for some random living story event. The sad thing about the living story events is in 2-3 weeks after there finished no one cares or remembers them. There not special there not cool and they add nothing to the game except some filler content.

There goal was to do a living story style content like world of Warcraft did (yes wow pioneered it sorry Anet ur not original.) between each expansion. Then they need to make them last months have multiple tier’s and relate directly to the content with extremely nice rewards.

What are u talking about?? living story being what WoW did? wow’s patches pre-MoP atleast took 5 months or heck much longer than that.. with a fail raid of cata it took them close to an year to get the next update running. WoW milked players, u should know that by now.

Wizard tower is a lore idea from the team that’s no longer on the radar? hopefully ur a troll or u better not write garbage that doesn’t help the post.

Regarding the wizard’s tower, there’s been a lot of speculation that verata and his minions were around the area of the tower in guild wars 1 and considering isgarren has elementals like minions that necro’s have. There’s a good lore on the tower, the elementals are protecting the town below. That part will be untouched untill either the wizard starts some strange stuff or the surroundings (tower of nightmares- though it’s quite far from the wizard’s tower) affect the wizard to act ahead.

Most probably it’s a healing slot skill. they didn’t mention that it heals and cleanses.. they only mentioned it “cleanses” i dont see any problem with that.

Ronan was a member of the Shining Blade in the era of the Krytan civil war around 250 years ago. A soldier called to battle, he was at one point separated from his patrol and, in wandering, stumbled upon a guarded cavern filled with mysterious seeds. Escaping with a single seed the size of a man’s fist, he stowed it away to show to his daughter. However, it was not to be: he returned to his village only to find his family murdered by mursaat and the village in ruins. In grief, he then swore to lay down his weapons and planted the seed upon the graves. It was near this tree that he would stay for the rest of his life.

Later on, Ronan would be joined by the centaur Ventari. Sharing similar values on peace and friendship, they would find new purpose in tending both the budding Pale Tree and their safe haven near the ocean. This outpost, attended by Ronan, Ventari, and others that sought the shelter of friendship, would last past Ronan’s death until Ventari’s passing; the site would emerge again with the birth of the sylvari and the creation of The Grove.

the pale tree is obviously someone’s kid from the bolded text above. it’s got a strong sense of justice mostly due to ronan/ventari’s teachings through the tablet.. due to which it grew knowing the good and the bad stuff in the world of tyria.

of everything that is present in this day of guild wars, pale tree is one of the most knowledgeable creature which knows stuff about the mursaat, white mantle etc if ventari’s book had his teachings along with the knowledge of ronan and the world prior to his death. (centuars live longer than humans)

some people are lucky with the drops, other than that.. there are different ways to make gold.
1. Skill points → gold (t5-t6 mats, cores to lodestones etc)
2. world bosses → good loot (exotic chance makes the gold count higher)
3. dungeons → steady income (exotic chance)
4. Flip → buy low, sell high on Trading post
5. Predict → buy stuff u think might increase in price
6. Gamble → RNG
7. Farm → Champion runs (Queen’s Gauntlet and Scarlet minions were a lot of cash)
8. Laurels → t6 mats (if u feel lucky, mayb dyes)
9. Forget that your’s trying to amass gold, rather play what u enjoy playing.. even if u dont get any gold, it’s gonna increase one way or another :-)

Coming back to a few more class skill ideas —-

New Necromancer skill ideas

1. Cheat Death – Upon activating cheat death, life force becomes 100% and can be targeted to an ally which swaps your life force to thier health. example : ally – 30% health, on activating cheat death on that ally – you get 30% life force while the ally gets 100% health.

2. Discord – Can only be activated if the target has more than 3 conditions and 3 boons. Deals very high damage. Cooldown – 3 seconds.

New Warrior skill ideas

1. Deadly Riposte (Shield ability) – (Spikes across the shield) Block the next attack (meelee only, non-projectile), bleeds the target and reflects the same amount of damage.

2. Disarm (projectile) – Throw an axe from your backpack precisely knocking the target’s weapon down for 3 seconds. Removes swiftness and you cannot gain swiftness for 5 seconds after this skill is used.

New Ranger skill ideas

1. Choking Gas (buff – 10 seconds) – Arrows are dipped in a substance made by nature’s effective trees. These arrows daze a target. —- While choking gas is active, arrows projectile time is increased by 50% and cannot use any aoe skills.

not to make legendary weapons awesome and stuff.. but well a few ideas none the less :P

Bolt – Lightening fields or taking lightening damage will overcharge Bolt dealing more damage than usual

Twilight – Dark fields or dark damage taken will increase the damage and the weapon glows brighter

Incinerator – Fire fields or fire damage taken will increase the damage

Juggernaut – Light fields or light damage taken

Bifrost – Water fields or water damage taken

Frostfang – Ice fields or ice damage taken

Moot – While atleast one friendly unit dances in 900 aoe around moot, it deals more damage than usual. Secondary effect – Moot automatically glows brighter if there are any hot opposite sex characters around the wielder and also, the wielder can choose a list of songs to be played to impress them.

The Dreamer – When the pony travels across a poison field (friendly or enemy) or the character takes poison damage. The pony’s get sick.. go haywire and starts exploding randomly. Secondary effect – While there are little girl characters around, not counting asurans, the wielder goes into exemplary rage showcasing his ponies, dealing more damage

New elementalist skill ideas (passive/active) –

1. Aftershock – deals aoe damage and deals additional damage to cc’d foes (knockdown, daze, stun etc)

2. Elemental Lord (24 seconds) – Gives +2 seconds of attunement linger bonus for every skill used, additionally while Elemental Lord is active, each attunement has different skills that are activated every 6 seconds.
Fire skill : Star Burst – Hits the target for high damage (single target)
Water skill : Rust – Stops enemy passive health regeneration
Air skill : Storm Djinn’s Haste – Recharges the next 2 utility skills/spells 50% faster
Earth skill : Stone Sheath – Applies protection to the caster for 3 seconds and 33% chance of applying aegis for 5 seconds.

3. Ether Prodigy (aura) – You and 4 others around you are healed for 800 every second for 8 seconds. Removes conditions once every 4 seconds.

New mesmer skill ideas (passive/active) –

1. Air of Disenchantment (aura) – For 15 seconds, boons on enemies end 80% faster (900 aoe)

2. Mantra of Haste/Recovery – All skills recharge 10% faster (Passive)
All skills recharge 33% faster (Active) – 20 seconds

3. Ineptitude – Interrupt the enemy’s action. additionally, the enemy is knocked down

4. Tease – You gain 15 stacks of might for 15 seconds, additionally the enemy target is devoid of getting any might stacks for the same duration.

5. Shame – The target’s skills activate and recharge 25% slower.

6. Panic(aura) – Projectiles/spells targeted towards you have a 50% chance to be redirected to another player or to another enemy.

New Ranger skill ideas

1. Incendiary Arrows (Buff – 25 seconds) – Arrows explode on critical hits dealing small aoe damage and inflics burn.

2. Stampede (channeled ability – 6 seconds) – A random pet from your pet pool will be unleashed every 1 second. The pets have heal on critical hits and have protection while they last. Each pet lasts for 15 seconds.

3. Focus Fire (debuff) – You gain swiftness and quickness if you stick to your target (10 seconds)

New Necromancer skill ideas

1. Verata’s Gaze – Targets that are facing you corrupt from inside out bleeding (8 stacks) and you steal 1000 health from a single foe.

2. Decay (aura) – Chills, Torments and the target loses 5% of it’s hp over 14 seconds.

New Thief skill ideas

1. Revenge (counter filled skill) – Every hit you take makes you use revenge that much faster. Stuns, cripples and the next 3 hits or abilities will be critical hits.

2. Jin’ada – (passive – every 8 seconds) The next attack will be a critical with +100% more critical damage. (Active) The next attack will be a critical hit with 100% more critical damage to 2 targets beside your target.

New Guardian Skills:

Cursed Legacy – Target leaves a trail of poison wherever they go for a duration of time. This trail remains for a long period of time and harms both the target and his allies if stepped upon.

Misery – Target loses HP over a duration of time; intensifies the more boons and conditions they have.

Bane of Existence – Target becomes invisible to their allies and is unable to give and receive boons and heals.

Soul Envy – you hover towards your target with dark tentacles coming out of you and latching on your target to drain their health for a duration of time. If target does not break free of it in time, they become petrified for a short duration.

Call of the Reaper – Mark your target. The target dies instantly after a random duration of time if they do not have at least one boon up.

Sinful Living – Mark your target. For each boon that they receive during the duration of this mark, target loses X amount of HP when the mark ends.

Misery and Bane of Existance are amazing skills for a guardian, the others i’m guessing a necro’s choice :P

1. Demise – Applies 5 stacks of torment stacks for 4 seconds, reapplies automatically if the target gets feared or interrupted

2. Afterlife (aura) (10 seconds) – Spawns a creature from the underworld at the death of your targets, each minion stays for 60 seconds. Has a chance to spawn a champion of dhuum which targets you after the enemies around die.

3. Suffocate (channeled ability – 4 seconds) – The dead grasp the target and suffocate him dealing damage per second which increases with the duration. Blinds the target at 2, inflicts weakness at 4.

New Thief skill ideas

1. Carnage – You go into a frenzied rampage which increases all attack damage/condition damage by 100% for 6 seconds.

2. Decapitate – Your target bleeds, gets weakened. After 2 seconds of the attack gets confused, blinded and tormented.

New Engineer skill ideas

1. Unstable MAC – Dangerous Poison Elixir which creates a Dark field for 10 seconds. Targets entrapped inside are dealt heavy damage every 2 seconds, the damage each enemy takes is unstable and has a 10% chance to deal damage again in aoe and also inflicts burning.
Note —- MAC – mercury, kitten nic, cyanide

2. Skull crack (Hammer skill) – Whacks the target’s head with hammer made of lutetium. Deals very high damage. Takes 2 seconds for the skill attack animation.
Note —- Lutetium is the densest known stable white material

guild wars 2 runs very well along on good single threaded processors, gw2 also uses multi threads. now coming to 8320, gonna compare it to lets say an i5 3570.

8320 is 60% slower than 3570 in single threaded programs and 4% slower when running multi threaded ones.

graphic card and ram are very good :-) nothing to talk about there.

The game engine for Guild Wars was developed by ArenaNet. Engine components developed for Guild Wars are available to be licensed to other NCsoft companies and have been used in other NCsoft games. However, ArenaNet have said they will not license the game engine technology to non-NCsoft companies.

Guild Wars 2 uses a heavily modified Guild Wars game engine which includes support for true 3D environments, more detailed environments and models, better lighting and shadows, new animation and effects systems, plus new audio and cinematics engines and a more flexible combat and skill-casting system.

thx for the reply, i thoroughly understand ur post. but given as a class compared to another one, the thoughts below..

a mesmer can easily keep up 1-2 phantasms(especially after the buff to phantasm health in pve a few patches earlier) 3 is far fetched on most boss encounters. as of clearing creeps on a fast run, mesmers have quite good burst with mindwrack. and a few titbits like standing behind an illusion to avoid projectile damage/agony hits/charge etc and i certainly think a mesmer in a speed run is a must across most of the dungeons.

i wanted the part on how a guardian “when traited and built properly out damages a warrior”.

thief’s utility points – stealth for skips – perfect for speedclears, spammable blast finishers for might = signet of inspiration if u have blast finishers in party or direct might givers like warriors, projectile block is alright, not as good as a mesmer or a guardian. spammable blind fields = assuming it’s pistol 5, isn’kitten dps loss? correct me if i’m wrong, very good single target dps = true, one of the best.

Engineer’s = true, as u mentioned not far behind on dps. considering pure dps vs utility, lets just keep engi aside :P

Guardian/Thief: Strong utility, high DPS <— that sentence is wrong imo, guardian doesn’t have good dps and thief doesn’t have strong utility, but certainly true vice versa.

You don’t have a very good understanding of the current dungeon meta. The only reason 3w/1m/1x is so good, is because it is the fastest and easiest method of gaining 25 might. If blast finishing for might wasn’t so slow, you would see much more variety. This composition is easily out-damaged, but its so easy faceroll that even casuals can look good with this team comp.

Warriors are easy to play, have a bit above average DPS and have cool unique buffs. Guardians have defensive utility, higher DPS potential than warriors but are a bit harder to play. Guardians are also seen as defense bots, so most people don’t actually realize how much potential the class has, and waste it by using bad weapon sets (see: mace/shield).

Thieves have perhaps the highest potential DPS, but they’re high skill floor. If you can’t read boss/foe tells, you’ll die faster than almost every other class and you’ll be useless. Stealth/blinds are also really strong. Mesmers are really overrated. The only reason you ever take a Mesmer is because you need strong reflects, in cases such as TA ‘Up’ and Arah. Their DPS is terrible without phantasms (hard to maintain), and as such are a pretty niche choice.

Those are the main ones covered. I can go over the other classes, or expand a bit if you like. But tbh I’m going a little off-topic.

mexican cookie, “u” dont have a good understanding of the meta. 3w, 1m, 1g is very good not just because of signet of inspiration to copy boons and reflects but also for timewarp. fastest cof clear had a thief, ranger, mesmer, 2 warriors. fastest lupi clear had 3war, 1mes, 1ele. u see, guardians are the class that are overrated, as u mentioned guardians have defensive utility and the dps doesn’t come close to a warrior, thief, mesmer. a “decent” mesmer deals a lot of damage and it isn’t hard keeping 2-3 phantasms up for most part, u shatter them on boss aoe and bring them back up again and dont forget a mesmer can also give 6-8 stacks of vulnerability consistently. and for a few dungeons without reflects, mesmers can go with a 25% damage increase with mantras and 3% per illusion.

u do know that karka queen is killed a lot these days?? and yes u still have people dead at karka queen, but u dont have tons of dead bodies like u used to. it’s called getting used to, and u can easily avoid the 1 hit stuff like shockwave.

other than the wave, the big idiots suicide, and so do some of the normal creeps, can dodge outta the suicide and @ warlock.7136 – just to mention again, i’m a zerker mesmer and never got 1 shotted in the fight (jump shockwaves, avoid suicides)
