The chests in Silverwastes need bandit lockpicks to unlock. You get those for bandit crests (which you get for events) from NPCs in the forts.
To actually unearth the chests, you’ll need shovels (which you can’t buy, only get from events). Maybe the commander has a bunch, or they ask the train to each bring a few. Either way, once one player “dug up” the chest, everyone with a lockpick can loot it.
So the only thing left for me is to farm some Chrests > Buy Keys > join LFG Chest Farm and profit? :p
Does those chest still contains enough Obs Shards to go this way instead of WvW?
EotM is the best place for karma when it’s running the ktrain. It’s called ktrain (karma train) for a reason.
However, since your goal is not karma but obsidian shards, I strongly recommend doing Silverwastes chest farm. The Lost Bandit Chests drop obsidian shards like crazy (sometimes even 10 from one chest, although this happens rarely), and you can get karma from tagging the events along the way of the train. 400 shards in one month is cake with Silverwastes alone, you will most likely get them in 1-2 weeks if you focus. Not to mention the other loot you will be getting. You don’t have enough Bandit Crests for the keys? No problem, just open LFG and join Silverwastes maps that are advanced; tag as many events as you can and you will get stacks upon stacks of crests in no time.

Also, the argument of “premades vs pugs is rare” is a weak argument.
Pug vs Pug is rare in EU. I get to see enemies or teammembers with atleast 2 in party.
If I want to Solo Q, I want to play vs other ppl who Queue up Solo. Parties (doesn’t matter what size) are premade and have a big edge above others (TS/exp)
I like how biggest part of community says “No, we’re not premade noobs, only 3 man party”
For the ones not getting it: “Pre” means literally “before”, “made” means.. well.." made"..
So pre-made means a team with party (or parties) made BEFORE the game.
I had a top team once and they had 4 premade. Told them for jokes if I could join their ‘premade’. They said they were no premade but 4 men party and called me stupid lel.
So yea.. I want pugs vs pugs when I pug :>

Turret engineers are something I can’t kill in PvP, but I know the reason why. It’s not because they are OP, and it’s not because I’m terrible (though I don’t claim to be great). It’s because they counter my build.
I play a melee power/spectral necro, and Turret Engineer happens to perfectly counter that. I frequently run into a build that I simply cannot win against, and I don’t complain about it one bit. I recognize that changing my build to use wells would give me an edge, as would swapping to Axe. Swapping to a condi build would let me eat that engineer alive as well. I can counter them easily with changes to my build, but I consciously choose not to make those changes in favor of other matchups.
Everyone has those options. Would be nice if people recognized that.
The problem is that, you have that ability built in.
Not all professions get to do that.
I’m a warrior, and there’s no way im going to range down a turret eng. I must then use multiple forces just to deal with 1 guy who can effectively 1v2 easily.
What if by odd chance we end up with no range?
I’m all akin for losing, getting stomped, or outplayed.
But there needs to be SOME counterplay for melee classes too.
It’s not about that, its about a level playing field, and completely blocking 1 fighting type is too much. There’s melle, and there’s ranged. Ruling out 50% of builds ineffective is broken.
And saying “overpower” isn’t a solution either.
Hambow happens to be one of the better counters to Turrets… Rock paper scissors man. Thats sort of how it goes in build wars. There’s not a build out there that doesn’t at least struggle with some other build set up.
Condition Mesmer
Beating a turret engineer in a 1v1 is far from an l2p issue in a lot of cases. Turret engi beats tons of builds for free (provided you have half a brain), even a lot of the meta builds with the some of the best players in the game playing them.
The biggest problem with turret engineer is that I think a significant amount of the player base isn’t good enough to justify NOT going turret engi. What I’m saying is that a significant amount of players could role turret engi and perform better than whatever they usually play.
In unorganized environments or when amateur teams don’t know how to deal with them, turret engineers are extremely frustrating for them to fight and that’s not a healthy environment.
These players shouldn’t have to deal with builds like this.

Turret Engineers are way TOO punishing for the opponent’s team, certainly with new players and the current matchmaking.
Either they go close or far, decap, kill and AFK /win.
The reason why AFK wins is because beginners/casuals don’t get they can ignore/outrotate/win 4v5 and keep feeding at the Turret Engi (again, too punishing for the ppl in the same team WITH experience)
What about WvW? Is EoTM confirmed to be the best place to farm karma?

Kaelaris actually does the effort and work to stay up-to-date with the scene, not to mention he has other ESL games/tournaments to attend to at the same time.
First time I saw him with Jebro, I was amazed by the fact he brought up old facts the current community doesn’t even know about (only small part of us)
His way of casting/speaking to the people is also off the charts. You could have Jebro/Blu/Chro Nick as the one with the current knowledge and Kaelaris to speak/play with the audiance. This way you’ll have a perfect team
Doesn’t matter how you turn it, he does an amazing job and got me hooked the first time I saw him. Doesn’t matter if he doesn’t really know the specifics; he knows how to talk through it. You have a co-caster to go through the specifics

Doom is most effective against Eles/Wars/Engineers who have stacked multiple sources of sustain (traits, regen, highly effective healing abilities).
Energy is an extremely vital must-have to the Mesmer, Condi Necro, and often not utilized by Ele/Engi/War, with some exceptions.
Shaving Doom and shaving Energy would probably only solidify the status quo more.

Did they literally said it stability utilities will have atleast 3-5 stacks? All I could udnerstand on the livestream was one stack, many viewers thought the same (judging from the chat) so i’m confused now.. That’s why they said RIP WvW and all.. I need to see an official post about this because the explanation on PoI was crap about this subject
They said they were gonna rework the current stab abilities to be coherent with their current strength. I understood it like that: the small on-dodge on stab of the revenant is only one stack, so there’s no way lich will get one stack only. You can see on this (low-res) screenshot that a revenant skill that cost 25% of spiritual energy (so potentially spammable) gives 5 stacks. I think Stand Your Ground will get about that amount. Lich should give something between 7 and 10. So you’ll likely need a lot of cc to rip off the lich’s stab! It will however affect zerg vs zerg imo, but I think it’s for the best there.
But again, I’m not a dev, and since a lot of things are changing with HoT, it is very plausible that some skill get too few stacks, and an other too many. We’ll see, and I hope the balance team has planned weeks of extra hours just after the release to polish all these new things we’re getting!

But in any team situation, you’ll be in a position where the less mobile classes can’t reach you easily or need to stay on point, your main threat is the enemy thief in the majority of scenarios with either class.
Which your team’s Thief has to counter normally aswel :p
We could also take another class vs the ranger/mesmer, like Engi.
Engi can easily win, even with the signet of stone, it’s not immune to conditions, while a mesmer can outkite an engi and have F4

This potentially means that if you put up two stabilities that last 10s each, you’ll just have 2 stacks of 10s of stability. Builds like warriors running Balanced Stance and Last Stand would possibly not get 20s of stability if gained at the same time. Do you like this system better?
- Overall, do you think any potential positives outweigh the potential negatives?
1. Hammer on Warrior, Spirit Guard (knockdown and push back from Spirits every few seconds), Terrormancer, p/s Engineer, Staff Ele, Mace/shield warrior, d/d ele air 3,…. Can go on really

For the attention of anyone whining about turret engis being OP:
Beat a team with 2 turret engis, team was either full premade or 3+2. One of the turret engis is #1 on EU leaderboard.
Whole thing is sped up 3x, but if you’re still too lazy, there’s a moment at 2:26- when we essentially win the 2v2 with our mesmer + ele vs their turret engi + thief until the guardian appears. Even then, we are both able to simply disengage and leave the turrets in the dust.This also shows how unjustified it is to have this guy at #1 on the EU leaderboards.
Srsly, Peiperbot? I see him every single night when I solo q and I can even beat him on Thief head-on without going out of LoS.. he’s like the worst Turret engi..
Hell, I’ve even beaten him with Shatter Mesmer WHILE staying on point..
I think the point of this should actually show how broken the LB is.

nope, you make a screenshot of your combat log after being hit by the rocket-turret and show us the damage dealt from each skill. Because what I think is that you got hit by the turrets overcharge, were knocked on the ground, and the engi himself used rifle-jump to land on your head.
Turrets can’t crit, and their max dmg is 1.6k (rocket-turret). whatever has hit you there, it was most probably not a turret.
Well I meant SS’ing the combat log ofcourse.
However, it could be true it was something else hitting me at same time, I sure remember yesterday being hit for 3k on my mesmer when the rocket was flying right into my face.

Well Rocket Turret already isn’t very durable. If someone were attempting to use it in a build that isn’t a turret build, having it nerfed would make the possibilities of such a build less viable. If there were legitimate reasons to nerf it then sure, but nerfing the possible use of turrets in other builds simply because people don’t like playing against full turret builds is an illogical decision.

The only people that die to this are those that rush in to fight the engi while completely ignoring the turrets, and those people deserve to die to this.
I have often wondered that. Why people feel its dps is so absurd. 1400 every 4 seconds really isnt that… amazing if you ask me. its okay though. And its not that hard to kill unless you’re a condi player, in which case you have the advantage over the engineer itself.
You need to see it as a whole. The damage indicator says 1400 damage, excluding the damage it really does. It hits light armor for about 3-4k + rifle attacks from engi + flame turret + thumper turret..

The rocket turret hits me for 3-4k and it follows + the range is insane.
If you’re immobilized, which happens often, you can’t dodge those and I’m fine with that
But I’m not fine with the fact it punishes really hard while doing almost nothing at all

All depends what matchmaking you get ofcourse.
Experienced peeps like us take the guide for granted, as we do those things already, since it’s normal to do. But you would be surprised by the amount of people who don’t do 50% of the mentioned things
You’re right about ppl coming on forum alot, are mostly the experienced ones but soloQ’ing is really a disaster (matchmaking)
Just had a talk with guildies and we do miss the old matchmaking/LB felt so much more balanced. Though, the LB was a bit off but seemed more accurate

You know, I’ve been trying to get more into PvP and wanted a comprehensive beginners guide video explaining our role in the mode. I knew some of the basic stuff, but felt like I was missing a lot of the intricacies. However, the only thing I EVER seem to see on YouTube is match montages, which is at best a rather mediocre way to learn some combat specific strategies and at worst just showing off. This is just what we needed.
I will also be adding this thread to my regular bump train.

If you’ve seen OPs history then you’d know that they are an accomplished complainer. Entire threads of screenshots devoted to showing how matchmaking isn’t working. With that knowledge, it’s easy to pick up on OPs disdain for other players who are trying to gather experience. The tone is especially bothersome when OP suggests that it should be stickied so that new players can see it. Those are the exact people you don’t want seeing the video since the first minute just tells them that they are a burden to other players.
To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a post in a few months saying “People still aren’t experts. It’s a pity you didn’t sticky my guide! Here it is for anyone who missed it!”
