Everytime in prepare of a new patch they are shutting down the spvp, to reduce possible errors.

This was used to be the same with WvW but got changed recently.

You guys know, that the most popular game titles all have practically only one game mod? (f.e. counter strike: deathmatch with a bomb, lol and dota the 5vs5 map with 3 lanes).
Ofc all the titels have different game modes for diversity, but they are all very little played.

GW2 is a big difference there, every map is not only different aesthetic wise. but also with a different secondary mechanic. F.e. When you take ‘Twink Peaks’ and ‘Warsong Gulch’ they are basically the same, but ‘Battle of Kyhlo’ and ‘Spirit Watch’ are different to play on, and a require a completely different tactic.

Wow, you left 6 month ago. So you don’t have any clue, how the game looks like now, AND you have nothing better to do that to come to the forum of a game, you don’t like, and want to press everyone your own opinion on the eye… congratulations!

You know what? There are different opinions out there! There are people who can actually have fun in gw2. Maybe let the new players experience the game on there own, and come to a conclusion whether they like the game or not. On the free trial weekends, they don’t even have to pay a cent for that!

I really don’t understand you guys, when you hate gw2 so much, why you are still here every day, and still playing, and posting here? Either you are just pathetic, you it’s a kind of love – hate relation.

Either stop your gw2 hate, or leave us alone! We are having fun playing, and appreciate gw2, and we can definitely recommend everyone to try out gw2 spvp!

  • Are queues long for quick random sPvP matches?
    One unrated queuing system called ‘hot-join’: you can jump in when ever you want, and leave whenever you want. Two formats: 5vs5 or 8vs8.
    Custom Arenas: Similar to ‘hot-join’, but with more customize able options like changing the numbers of players to 10vs10 or 1vs1, sometimes with a password.
    Ranked SoloQ: Join alone, but still play 5vs5, everyone has to join alone.
    Ranked TeamQ: 5vs5, (but you can join with less than 5 people, and will get people assigned who are also not joining as a full group, but I’d not recommend it, since you’ll mostly have to play against a full group of 5 people.)
    The rankedQ Times both SoloQ and TeamQ may vary depending on the current time and your ranking. I have never waited for more than 10 minutes, mostly between instant invites and 5 minutes.
  • Are there a lot of people who still PvP?
    Yes! More people are playing hot-join than tpvp, and more are playing soloQ than teamQ. Some of the top-tpvp team have gone away, this is unfortunately, but that does not really matter for us mid-ranked players.
  • Are there guilds who solely PvP in North America?
    I’m playing on EU, sorry can’t name you one.
  • Hypothetically, If I never PvE (outside of getting some weapons), can I participate in WvW and get my gear/stats bolstered to be on the same playing ground?
    Yes! Still’d not recommend it. Until you are level 80 and average equipped, you might die very often, and not have enough fun.
    There are some parts in WvW like the karma trains, where you can level up your character to 80 very fast, but that will most likely not be the case mostly.
    The highest item tiers in gw2 are exotic and ascended. Exotics are very easy to obtain, and there is practically not a high difference between them and ascended. Ascended weapons f.e. are easier to obtain via crafting, but you can still hope for a drop in WvW.
  • Is there anything else I should know?
    You can play spvp as the same level and with the same stats as everybody, but in WvW/PvE you have to level up your character. They share their level and equipment there.
    GW2 does not have a monthly fee. I’d recommend to try out every part of the game, and if it does not met your standards come back later, and try it out again.
    Don’t let yourself get scared away, gw2 has a lot of whiners on the spvp forum.

Please tell me when you have won your last tpvp match. I think you are just not able to compete with the top teams any more, and you are just letting your envy and frustration out here on the forums.
You are one of the dishonorable players abusing the leaderboard rating system, and therefore your opinion is for me as interesting as a bag of rice falling over in china.

Well, terminologically e-sports is just the competition with the utilization of the pc.

GW2 has the best PvP and PvP balance from all other MMORPGs around there. There is not a single title nor will there be one in the near future that can compete with GW2. That’s a great achievement! (Ofc we can’t rest now, there is a lot of work to do.)

I think the biggest problems gw2 has atm, is the misinformation, that gw2 is not a good game, and is no different than any other mmo out there.

*) You can start playing pvp in gw2 after you are 10 minutes into the game without any disadvantage to a player with 1.000 hours of playtime. You have access to every skill and every item from the start!

*) GW2 SPvP is not a grind feast no item tiers! You can start competing with the top-players from the beginning!

*) Best balancing of all MMORPGs!

Let’s wait on the viewer numbers of the MLG tournament. I think at this point the importance does not lie in the total viewer numbers, but in the relation of active gw2 players and people who are getting interested in playing gw2 after watching the tournaments.

Condition damage vs direct damage[
The Mesmer is one of the professions which a lot of players love to play, and therefore tested out a lot of builds in the tpvp environment. I’m definitely not playing at the same level as helseth, but I’m not ranked so bad, and have a lot of Mesmer TPvP experience myself since launch. And I’ll tell you something: Condition Mesmer is not viable. He is not viable with bountiful interrupt and not viable with runes of perplexity (which do not exist in spvp anyways). Why should I stack confusion and hope that they remain on the target and that he will spam his attacks, when I can simply deal the same amount of damage or higher with direct damage?
There are some builds which sounds pretty cool like the ‘clone death build’ of the ‘blackwater build’ but they are not viable in tpvp, it’s on the same level as the signet or mantra mesmer. Some nice tricks, but overall far weaker.

Weapon choice
Why staff and gs? Good combination of damage and survival ability. You don’t want to stay in melee range too long, otherwise it gets you killed.
Ofc combinations like Sword+Torch can work too.
Btw: GS/Staff is played with ‘Illusionary Elasticity’ for the additional burst from ‘Mirror Blade’ and additional constant damage from ‘Winds of Chaos’. Nowadays everybody knows how a ‘Illusionary Leap’ ‘Blurred Frenzy’ ‘Mirror Images’ ‘Mind Wrack’-Combination looks like, and will most likely counter it. Ofc it can work too, if the team composition is burst focused, but you don’t see that very often.

I think words can’t convince you anyways,. just test it out, and post your experience!

Hi,

Personal Experience
completed my first run through world 2 tribulation mode yesterday, and I had a lot of fun! Great work!

I prefer the design from world 2 over the one from world 1. You can see, that it’s not pushed in after, but design from the beginning with the tribulation mode in mind.

There are a lot of different and hard mechanics, but which are also fun to play with, once you get the hang of it. f.e. the first run through normal mode i tried to jump up the ice berg i failed miserably, but now, in tribulation mode, where I already met the ice berg once, it wasn’t a problem any more. Numerous times I was had to laugh when I got killed by a hidden trap “yeah, it was kinda to be expected, that there was one haha”

After my run through normal mode, I hated the polarbears, but after coming through world 1 and 2 tribulation mode, I realized, they are not hard at all, just fluffy little teddy bears like I remembered them from my childhood!

Problems
1.) As it was already addressed here, the zones are very long, and it’d probably have been the best, if the zones’d have been split up. But I personally don’t think this is a huge problem.

2.) In W2Z2 after you feed the octopus, you come the zone with 1 to 4 teleporter on different platforms. After you picked the right teleporter you come to the pillar-road, where most of them are covered in spike traps. On the second jump you are landing on a red barrel, which can explode. From the barrel you can jump to the next pillar without a trap, but once the barrel is exploded, it only respawns optical. Due to this you can not jump on the barrel again, and jump to the next pillar. You are still able to continue the zone, due to jumping right between the next two pillars ‘standing in the air’ right to the left one with spikes, and the right one without, on which you were not able to jump to due to the exploded barrel.
(sorry for my bad english)

3.) The way above the bell: Personally there have been about ~10 locations where I preferred to use the dodge-jump. I’m not sure, what the design philosophy is behind the dodge-jump, and if you think this usage is legit or not. The jumps above the bell is one of the locations I think the dodge jump was really really helpful if not necessary.

Infinite Continue Coin
I think this coin is necessary to complete the tribulation mode. Maybe once guides are out, and you have collected numerous continue coins via JPs and normal mode, this might not be true, but I’d still suggest to buy one of those.

This is the first time, we have to kind of pay for the content we want to play, and this is a big point we should discuss about, if this is the right way we want to go.
Personally I think this time with the SAB it was a problem at all. The price performance ratio was very very good. But please be very careful with this sort of a thing, and don’t let it get out of hand.

At this point I want to note, that we SPvP players don’t have a lot of money, and really can’t effort anything. Please take a look at it!

Each Tribulation Mode zone end chest will drop an item. You’ll need all three from a World, along with a weapon design purchased from Moto. Combine those in the Mystic Forge to create your Tribulation Mode colored weapon. Keep in mind we only have Worlds 1 and 2 right now, so the only colors available this release will be Green and Yellow.

Can you still purchase the old weapon designs like the greatsword from the previous release?

  • How do you feel about ‘Putrid Mark’? Doesn’t the necro already have enough abilities protecting him against conditions like COnsume Conditions and Plague Signet leaving him as the sole ‘master of conditions’?
  • The animations of the asura are very hard to read. Are you thinking about the option, to replace the race of the enemy team by a standardize race similar to the option to change the team coloring back to standard red/blue?
  • There are currently some skills, which are very luck dependend how hard they can hit. Take f.e. the ‘Whirlwind Attack’ or the ‘Phoenix’. Both can hit multiple times and deal a ton of damage, or just hit you once. How do you feel about them?

You want your team to reroll OP/Meta build so you have a better chance at winning.

The problem is, certain specs are just “fast-food”. This is not restricted to the mesmer, every class has builds, that’s are just not viable.

Those people should play what they want, but in return, they should not expect to climb up the leaderboard.

The problem is, that once you are climbing up the leaderboard, you are going to face those people, but once you are up, those people won’t be a problem anymore.

In solo-q people will be testing builds and playing whatever they feel like.

For build testing you have Hot-Join.

A lot of people want the highest chance of winning they can get, especially if they are bad players. So they pick whatever class with the best risk/reward ratio, which is atm Necro, Ranger and Engi.

Don’t forget warrior. Yes, it’s also true to mention, that playing a strong profession does not mean you can play one of those.

Personally I have already been asked some times, if I don’t want to switch off my mesmer. But I hope ArenaNet realize that mesmer and ele are atm the weakest professions, and accordingly adjust it.

@OP: Last role of the mesmer was a team fighter / team supporter. He is not a close defender any more. Do you really think there is space for an offensive portal play in soloQ? Personally I prefer to run Nullfield and Decoy for survival ability and Mirrorimages for damage.

What’s a MOBA for me:

  • progression inside of a match with buying items and leveling up
  • towers, npcs, and the base

Is SPvP like that? Not at all! Do I want that experience in GW2? NO!

I think you mixed the elo / queue experience from the moba games with the moba style itself. Your suggestions are still good, and are still useful even for a game which is not a moba.

Would the game profit, if you change the hotjoin servers to a unranked queue system?
This is hard to tell. For me this is just a very different atmosphere.
In the current hotjoin I can easily jump in and out every time I want. In the TPvP-Queue I can (or better should) only join, if I have the time to complete the game.
Personally I still prefer the TPvP-Queue experience. Once you are out of the so called ‘elo-hell’ it’s just more fun to play.

But I don’t think forcing the people to do so, is the right direction.

Great Idea how the clockwork wards are intruduced, and how they are working.
I think this idea introduces great the Arenas, but I’m not really sure, what was the original purpose of the ground farming spot. For citizen to look at Divinity’s Reach enemys in their natural habitat like in a zoo?

Balloon Towers and Champions
I’m not a fan of running around in the world, collecting towers, and hoping to find a champion. Why not placing the towers and the champions on 5 different locations which are are hard to get to? Like inside of JPs? You have led us to varous interesting locations in the past, why did you change that?

Champion of the …
I’ll repeat myself once more. It is NOT interessting to repeat the same thing over and over. There are so many people in the pavilion farming the mobs. Do you really wanted that to happen?

Queen’s Gauntlet
Overall
Overall you have done a great job with Queen’s Gauntlet! I like the challenge and the atmosphere.

Difficulty:
I like difficult and challenging content, and if Anthonys post about the return of queens gauntlet in the future is true, you’d eliminate my biggest concern about limiting the content to specific specs.

Entrance Ticket:
I like difficult content, but I don’t like farming. In order to complete the harder achievements I had to buy Watchwork Sprocket, and spent due to the 20 silver exchange rate a lot of coins. Why? Sorry, but that’s just annoying.

Death
Another annoying part. Why are we just moved out of the arena, and not revived?

Queen’s Gauntlet glass dome
I really love the glass dome, and the ability to watch other players tries.

Announcer
To have an announcer is really great, but I’d prefer to not hear the other announcers while in the arena. I think twice I paniced in the arena due to the announcer from the neigbour arena startet the count down.

Rewards
The Mini after completing the third tier is a great idea. Still I think there is some sort of title missing after completing every single achievement including Light Up the Darkness. I’m also not a fain of the Bag of Coins.

Gambits
An extra ticket for activating a gambit? Guess how many tickets it cost to compete ‘High Stakes Gambler’ since now a try costs 6 tickets.

Fights
There are so many informations – necessary to win the fight – i’d prefer to get before the fight, but which you have to find out yourself, or find somewhere on the internet. Personally I’d prefer to get some short informations beforehand, like that Liandri’s visions can be blinded, to fully avoid their damage.

Bugs
Unfortunatly their are a lot of bugs in the current arena. Two people fighting two enemies at the same time. The ground is displayed opened. Mines not fully spawning. Dunwell not always telegraphing his headshot.

Change of the Daily Achievements

There are currently some problems with the daily achievement.

Personally, I think there is no real encouragement to do the daily except for the achievement points.

So, whats the point in the daily?

1.) Encourage you to go online, do some stuff, and get an easy reward for not a lot of time with the objective, that even, when you have little time, you don’t are not left far behind in the online progression from those, with a lot of time to play. This objective was perfectly solved with the introduction of the laurels.
But for the laurels there is one daily category enough, you don’t need two. Right now with the Living World beeing a part of the daily, the pvp daily gets handicapped even more.
Also I feeld that the pve rewards with a small chance of getting a cool black lion trading item is far better than the pvp daily.

Suggestion: Combine the PvE and PvP Daily, linke you have done with the WvW and PvE, so you can really choose what you want to do, to get your laurel!

2.) The daily achievement could encourage you to explore some new stuff, JP you haven’t seen before, or go back to them. Do some WvW, SPvP or maybe even take a look at TPvP. While this objective’d justify the separation of the PvE/WvW and the PvP Daily, I think this is the wrong place to accomplish this objective.

Suggestion:The perfect place for this objective is the living world. ArenaNet has already shown us this with the JPs and other hidden places. Why not introduce every third living world with a connection to SPvP? With the introduction from SkyHammer there could have easily been an achievement with something like “play x games on a Server where SkyHammer is in the rotation”. That way you would encourage people to play spvp, while not forcing them to join a private arena where only SkyHammer is active.

3.) Why are people still doing both daily categories? I think the only reason are the achievement points. Two days ago I met players completing the daily pvp achievement on a private arena by win trading.

Suggestion:I‘d suggest to max the amount of achievement points available per daily to 5. That way the people can still do what they want (pve, pvp or wvw) to get the daily (for the laurels or the achievement points) without forcing them to do everything. That way they won’t disturb the spvp community without them wanting to be a part of it.

Also I feeld that the pve rewards with a small chance of getting a cool black lion trading item is far better than the pvp daily.

Suggestion: Combine the PvE and PvP Daily, linke you have done with the WvW and PvE, so you can really choose what you want to do, to get your laurel!

2.) The daily achievement could encourage you to explore some new stuff, JP you haven’t seen before, or go back to them. Do some WvW, SPvP or maybe even take a look at TPvP. While this objective’d justify the separation of the PvE/WvW and the PvP Daily, I think this is the wrong place to accomplish this objective.

Suggestion:The perfect place for this objective is the living world. ArenaNet has already shown us this with the JPs and other hidden places. Why not introduce every third living world with a connection to SPvP? With the introduction from SkyHammer there could have easily been an achievement with something like “play x games on a Server where SkyHammer is in the rotation”. That way you would encourage people to play spvp, while not forcing them to join a private arena where only SkyHammer is active.

3.) Why are people still doing both daily categories? I think the only reason are the achievement points. Two days ago I met players completing the daily pvp achievement on a private arena by win trading.

Suggestion:I‘d suggest to max the amount of achievement points available per daily to 5. That way the people can still do what they want (pve, pvp or wvw) to get the daily (for the laurels or the achievement points) without forcing them to do everything. That way they won’t disturb the spvp community without them wanting to be a part of it.

Just completed T4 with my girlfriend (me on burst-mantra-Mesmer, she on a Meditation Guardian), but i’m not happy about the circumstances.

We first had to get to some berserker gear, and then complete the achievement the lame “hide behinde the mortar”-way. For me this is just bugusing, and i’m very disappointed by arenanet, that they include a (temporary) content, limited only to certain specs.

Suggestion:

  • Don’t make such a hard content temporary.
  • Don’t make content forcing you to bug use!
  • Don’t make content, where there is a way to use certain bugs, to make the content easier for you.

Aspect Arena

The rough concept of this minigame is great. Choose between one of three skillsets, and then play some capture the flag. Again I spent the first minutes of the game learning the new skills, since there was no way to learn the skills before.

Skills: In spvp after you first enter the mists, you are spawning a learning area. Why do you don’t have such a thing for the minigames? In the Labyrinth Cliffs you learned the three core skills, but nothing more. Why not? Now with the Aspect Arena you also changed how the speed of light works. (holding the button instead of pressing it once). Why exactly was this change necessary? Personally I don’t think the Aspects are balanced at all. It’s far too easy to pick up an attunement crystal, use Speed of Light twice, and take the crystal back to your base. I think it’s overall far too easy to take the crystals back to your base.

Achievement ‘Crystal Breaker’: Now with the very easy way to take the crystals back to your base, there comes the achievement “Crystal Breaker” into play. Lucky there are enough people using their adrenalin bar for dodging, run towards the wrong base or just don’t know how to use their skills probably so can get this achievement, but kill a good player? Nearly impossible. You also need far less Crystals to capture, so I ended up in a lot of matches, where everybody was just waiting, if someone wants to pick up a crystal, so that can try to kill him, and get your achievement complete, without playing the game properly.

Lag: I played the arena on different occasions, but every time I (and my friends also) had small lag problems.

Overall: With the lag problems and the unbalanced skills, this is unfortunately NOT the quality of content we are used to see from you.

Support and Advanced Support
Should an achievement be hard to get? Definitive, but I’d prefer if it is doable for every profession / spec combination, and if not, then not temporary. Yes, I read the ArenaNet post to this topic, you said it is doable, but it is not doable f.e. for a support guardian. Yes, there is the possibility to complete it, but have you read any guide or watched any video? They are all suggesting to camp behind the mortar, pulling the collectors, and not getting the agro of most npcs. That’s not the proper way to do this! This is bugusing for me, and an achievement should be able to only get with doing so. If you think, it is also doable in a different way, please show me so arenanet. Personally I haven’t seen ANY proper video of you guys doing something difficult. Yes, you showed off, how some specs work, what to expect from the new content and so on, but really something difficult?

Minigame Rewards
Due to the reason, this event we got two minigames, I want to take some time to write about my personal opinion on the minigame-rewards.

Comparing Aspect Arena and Southsun Survival, it is very very ease to get the fantastic treasure chests in the aspect arena. It takes a lot less time to complete one game, and you don’t have to be the last one standing.

Treasure chests are nice, but why do the point don’t count towards your spvp rank, and why are you not gaining glory? Why are the Top-Stats of the matches completely useless?

I really like playing the minigames, but once I have finished the achievements, they can be even so much fun, but I don’t go back to them. For me, it is so much fun working towards something. It does not matter, if it is working towards earning achievement points, completing dailys, rank up in WvW or Spvp, but doing something else? Well yeah, when I help someone else working towards something… (f.e. playing a minigame with a friends, who does not have the achievement yet, but after that?) I don’t think, I’m the only one thinking that way.
If the minigames would be an alternative f.e. for spvp, to also rank up, it’d really love that.

Defeat X while supporting
I really like it, when the current event takes you to places, where you normally don’t go to again / placed you have completed once, but don’t care to go back to like JPs, hidden area, or low level locations. That’s a really good idea, and I would like, if you maintain this.

Unfortunately I think you took it into the wrong direction this time!

It is not fun, to complete 20 events in the same area while running between the nearly exact events over and over.

It’s a nice idea, to kill the last boss in the fractals while wearing a support button, but why the same boss twice?

I’m really glad, that the spvp dailys also counted towards the “Kiel Every Day” or “Gnash All the Blades” so it didn’t force you to be online on 6 different days.

Southsun Survival
Definitive one of my favorite minigames so far, but I think it needs some small adjustments.

Map Size: I’d prefer some sort of fence limiting the area and the places where you can hide. There are some locations where you can wait, without the possibility of a Karka-attack. Even a Karka placed right onto you will not attack you. Maybe also let the Mist Walker see the living players on the whole map, and not only the one near you.

Points accumulation: The points accumulation is a problem in the second phase of the game. Once the grace period is over, you might get killed early, and be able to collect a lot of revenge motes, leading to a lot of points. But later on, the revenge motes are very rare, and if you are not the last one surviving, your points might be very low. Maybe give out points depending how long you survived (f.e. last 3 survivors get 25 points) or give points for successfully dodge a summoned Karka.

Items: I like the items, nothing to complain here.

Spawning: One time a person directly spawned in the line of fire from my “Head Shot”. Don’t think that was funny for him. I’m also not sure about spawning with half health. There is also a unnecessary spawn location at the south on the small jp-part, next to the treasure chest place. For the first one spawning there it is fine, since he can pick up a weapon there, but afterwards, it’s just too far away from the next scavenge opportunity.

Labyrinth Cliffs
Great design, love the karma merchants, and the whole jumping/speeding around. Personally I didn’t took part in the spawning event, because I only wanted to find all Crystals, but they were not annoying or anything, so I think that’s ok too.

Lessons from the Sky
I had fun searching all the Crystals. At the beginning, I unfortunately didn’t knew that you don’t had to find all of them, so I often died trying to get one crystal on the north-west wall in the air (where
you had to jump multiple times over with 3).

Lightning Pull problems
The jump Number 3 “Lightning Pull” didn’t worked properly every time. F.e. on some locations you were able to use the jump (it was in range), but you fall down, before you were able to reach your target location. But when you tried to jump a bit to the right, a location even further away from your takeoff-place, you were able to reach it without any problem.

Another problem occurred while using the special marked small ‘Lightning Pull’-placed, where it sometime let you jump back to the location where you were coming from, instead to the next one.

Finding the hidden kites
I really love this sort! Would there be a reason to go back to a JP or other hidden area with that sort of a thing? I don’t think so. Great job here!

Belcher Buff
Overall a nice minigame, but due to the 100 Gold cost I think this unfortunately a game I’ll probably never play again.
And yes, I was able to defeat ‘Adnul Irongut’, but it was a pain. I felt, that my victory was more due to luck, than anything else.

Sanctum Sprint
I had a lot of fun with this minigame. Great job here too! But I’d have preferred if I’d have known the skills, the usage of the endurance bar and the benefits of the crystals prior the match, and if there would not have been the need to take a look on the wiki page for this kind of information.

I want to take part in the Living Story, but make an personal impact?

Take the Karka Event f.e. The all fought off the Karka, we part of the Lionsarch Defenders. You can see that as having an impact on the story. (Ofc in the end it didn’t matter for the event on how many servers and overflow servers the event failed).

I like the election idea, and in the end, when you meet the winner again in another part of the living story, it might be fun., when the content will be the same, just with another candidate showing up.
Don’t like the idea of a more split content, where you’d have to change the server to take part in both.

Templates
Templates would be a good idea, if (and only if) they include changing the runes, amulets, weapons and sigils.
It should work in the prepare phase on every match, to adjust to the current map.

Playing only one spec or different
Personally I like to play different professions and different builds. I already have two mesmer both with a different built on my account, to change the char accordingly. As an esports viewer, I’d love to see more different tactics / play styles. The only problem is, that it’ll be more difficult to see the builds from the top esports team, since it take up alot of time, to review their builds. Is it necessary to show the builds? No, have you ever seen the skill tree of a top-player in league of legends? No.

Maybe we could also see an option to change the character within an match, without the need to relog in tpvp, and without getting kicked out of the server in spvp / without getting kicked out of the custom arena.

Current Meta
It may be difficult to play Skyhammer with the professions and builds from the current Meta, but personally I don’t think, that’s a problem, but i can see, that it’ll be a problem, when your profession gets useless or even a slight handicap can hurt. I don’t think this will be a problem for the top teams, but maybe for the more casual players, loving their profession, and maybe only playing one.

Laser Canon
I like the high damage / high risk factor. In think in the damage aspect we’ll have to differentiate between 8vs8 SPvP-Zergs and TPvP. Before changing anythink, I’d love to see f.e. Team Paradigm fighting against The Civilized Gentlemen, and see if the small place is really a problem in a coordinated TPvP Match.
I love it to be an important and fight changing mechanic.

Class balance and viability on Skyhammer
Every class have some skills, that either fear, pull or push you down. If you have to be a lot more careful where you stand. In combination with the laser canon immobilize and freeze matters even more. Let’s wait and see, if the meta on this map will change, that the teams will only try to kick the other team down, and use the laser canon for additional damage or not.

General eSport-Viewing
There is a lot going on around the map, and of course you can not show all. But I think especially on this map it’ll be very interesting what is going on on the laser platform. Let’s see how the shoutcasters are able to manage this. Maybe with an little screen in screen?

TPvP vs SPvP cs Custom Arenas
For custom arenas I could see an option, to turn off the breaking ground. For TPvP I’d not touch it, until we can see it’s first appearance in a tournament.
SPvP is quit difficult, some people are playing SPvP to prepare for tournaments, while other just play SPvP for the more casual attempt, to jump in quick, whenever you have a short time window. Maybe other just like the zerging. Would a disabled breaking ground or maybe a bigger laser canon be more helpful for them? I don’t know.

Please don’t change anything yet, and wait for the first Skyhammer Tournament!

Survey: Do you want more PvP achievements?

There are a few problems with pvp achievements.

Flow of the Game
One is, that they can really, I mean really disturb the flow of the game!

For those who played wow, just remember the holiday events, where there was an pvp achievement part of it. (f.e. "School of Hard Knocks). That was temporary content every pve player wanted to have, without playing pvp, resulting in base trading and insults, when you play the game normally, and don’t help them getting the achievements. I already encountered different people during the crab toss suggesting win trading.

Fun, Timeconsuming and Challenge
An achievement should also be fun and hard to get. We already have time consuming achievements in pvp (the titles), we need more challenging achievements like “Faster Than Light” and “Personal Space”. Achievements should be challenging to get, and if you don’t put into them a lot of focus, you shouldn’t be able to get them all.

Over-time-achievements like kill X people with Y or on point Z are just not fun. Would you work towards it to get them, or just play normal the game, and wait until you have them? When then even bother to have them? Just for more achievement points? I would like to have some of them, but not too many, and some which points people towards the right direction f.e. revive people from the down state.

Bypassing
There is also the question, where you should be able to get those achievements. What’s with tpvp, custom arenas, arena where you are just playing against your friend?
Suggestion: Only grant the achievements, when on the arena there have once played eight people at any given time through the match. There don’t have to be a full match at the start or the end, just an high amount of players playing once during the match. The Achievements are then granted at the end of the match, where it’s checked if the conditions have been matched.

treasure caches
I like the new use of existing jumping puzzles, where you have to go back once. F.e. I forgot about Vexa’s lab, because I have done this jp a long time ago, and had a lot of fun jumping through it again.

Kill Achievements
Kill 50 Aetherblades in different Zones is NOT funny. You have 2 options: Camp a spawn point next to one of the treasure caches while spamming 1 to get a kill (most mobs are dying within 1 second or less) or travel through the world, to exactly the same spots you traveled before to kill the holographic dragons, but now with 50% less mobs! (though dragons still being able to spawn). The achievement was in Dragon Bash not fun, and is not even more annoying.

Dungeon and Dungeon Achievements
Personally I think the dungeon was very good designed, and I had a lot of fun playing through him multiple times. Most of the achievements were not too hard to get, but still an interesting adaption. I also played with random teammates who died multiple times through the whole dungeon, but if the dungeon would have been easier, I think it would have been too easy.
I still had some negative moments: First canon-event: The players wanted to group up in the left corner, to fully avoid the canon fire -> not fun!
It seem that there have been some ways to get the ‘Personal Space’ achievement while getting hit from Horrik.

Jumping Puzzle
I love all jumping puzzles. My two favorites are still the ‘Mad King’s Clock Tower" and the “Winter Wonderland”, but the JP is still one of the best.
The frustrating part of the JP was the diving-googles-spot. You have to really time it right, to not die. Due to the cover, you weren’t even able to see the route you have to take. Luckily I managed the jump on the second time, so I was able to take part in the mesmer-portal-chain, to help other people to get the achievement.
I think it would have helped, if you could have seen an recommended jumping spot, where you have the experience to fall through the whole jp with pipes next to you, without the danger, to die on these.

new Skins
I love new skins, and also love to buy those through the gem store. It takes gold out of the economy, and for those without, it brings in more money for ArenaNet (and through this the ability for ArenaNet to develop new content for us). This is the far better option than buying dragon chests.
Maybe it would also be a good idea for the weapon skins or weapon tickets to be sold directly via the gem store.

The Dragon Bash is going to end, but I don’t know, if the Sky Pirates are a part of them (Like Flame and Frost had more parts), or if the Sky Pirates are the next own Story just overlapping with Dragon Bash, and maybe with the Bazaar of the four winds.

Edit: 3.) Can you please take the technical basis from engineers “Rocket Boots” to similar broken skills like “Illusionary Leap”? I’d really love it, if my clone would be able to leap up stairs or gentle slopes .

When will matchmaking be fix?

Every new player will have to start at a rating. Maybe you are just at the rating similar to the starting-rating? This does not show if the matchmaking works correctly or not.

(f.e. in a similar mmo players are starting a 1500 rating, while the good players will end up playing 2400+, but there are still players ending up with a rating <1000)
You may just have to get out of this rating level. Maybe playing once with a full group?

Please also remember, that the rank does not say anything about their tournament participation and their position on the ladder. Maybe the rank 30 player did also just played his first round of tpvp.

Ofc the matchmaking might also be defect, but you can only tell this, by looking at the position of every one in the ladder. Without the position information your attachment is useless.

Hi,

I have even used the search function, but I haven’t found a single feedback-thread. Can that really be, or am I just blind?

Please remember that this is my personal feedback, and the favors of everybody are quite different. English btw is not my first language.

Dragonball-Arena
The core concept of the Arena is very interesting, and it’s a nice diversity, but there is a very drastic problem, which I hope we’ll never see again. There is no auto-team-balance. You can end up in a game playing 5vs1 once I played even 5vs0.

Countless time I met people in the arena shooting against my reflection wall. What about implementing a tutorial which you have to go through the first time? Maybe then a lot more people would enjoy the arena, when they realize what they can do with every skill.

I also want to point out, that I don’t understand the concept of the two achievements. Why do both require 20 wins/played? Normally I’d expect a much lower win number than played number.

Last point I want to add to the Arena is the match reward system. It’d be nice, if you could at least get the same amount of dragon chest you’d otherwise get in the PvE-World for the same time investment.

Story
Murder Hunt: I personally didn’t find the murder hunt interesting at all. I spoke about this with my friends, and they all said “well, it’s just an mmo, if you want a story take a single player game”. I totally disagree with that, and I think, that you can also have a interesting story in a mmorpg.

Dragon Bash Event: I really hoped that the dragon bash story would take us out in the world to kill at least some dragon minions, while the pinatas in Lionsarche are more something for the kids, who are not able to fight the real dragons. Unfortunately we just celebrated some nonsense, while the dragon are still being a threat.

Achievements
Of course there should be numerous achievements with different difficult levels, but did anybody find it the whole grinding interesting? I realize that there has to be a part, which binds you longer to guild wars, but I think you already accomplished this part really good with the skin tokens in the dragon chest. Why do you then have to kill the
holographic minions over and over again?
Grinding achievements I didn’t like: Zhaitasty, Color the Sky, Paper Dragon, Burn Down The Dragons, So Lifelike.

Moa Race
I’d have loved to race myself with some sort of new mechanic, but unfortunately we were just able to bet on the Moas and then what? yeah, wait until they return, and we can place a new bet…

Firework
It was a really good looking firework, and you all did a great job animating it. But there is still a downside to the firework as well. There was just no chance to know, when the firework was going to start. I would have understood, if the firework would have happen on the full hour, but this was not the chase. Maybe implement a timer, where you can see how long it will take?
(Yea, I asked in /m chat when the last one was, but unfortunately I got a wrong answer. I waited 1 1/2 hour in Lionsarch for the firework)

Weapon Skins from the Dragon Chest
I really like the idea to be able to also get the skin from the dragon chest through drops, and not only through the gem store. You are not lucky enough, or you just don’t have the time to get the dragon chest? Buy some in the gem store

Dragon Wing Skins
I’m very happy, that this time you were able again to get the skins, and transform then into a pvp item. I hope this will not change again like it did with Lost Shores, where you just couldn’t get the backback items in pvp.

Further Wishes
My biggest wish is, that the SPvP is a part of the events. (Decoration alone is not enough).
You could even play WvW and get your Dragon Chest, but you couldn’t play SPvP.
Of course you could play the dragon ball arena, but you were not able the get any glory there at all, and it took very long, to get a single chest.
Personally I would loved the chance in spvp to get a dragon chest after I killed someone, or depending on the points, getting a bunch of chests at the end.
The problem is, that a single chest at the end of a match is just not enough, and a high number of chest might result in an abuse of the unused arenas. I think the best solution would be a reward based on the number of points you achieved.

I also hope we will never see the achievement rewards from the Lost Shore again, where the spvp community gets no incentives.

I don’t think, ArenaNet is not reading the threads, nor thinking, that there are not enough people with the same problem, but that there is no solution found yet.

It should help a lot narrowing down the list of things which might cause the problem, due to the fact, that we are both using the exactly same hardware (except the motherboard).

Today the problem occurred again while playing Khylo.

I attached the temperatures. I think they are overall too high, and I’ll take a look at them, but even thou the temperatures from my own pc (with the same hardware) have been nearly the same, which indicates, that the problem is somewhere else.

You are not alone in this. Most people having this issue use a 7770. No one has truly found a fix for this yet.

I’m also using the 7770 without having any problem ever.

She has played the game now for a few days without any problem. What did we change? Well, not much, she only bought a new mouse xD
