Stats: max power >> precision >> Vitality = Toughness >> Ferocity
Try to completely avoid Condition Damage and Healing Power.
Your Staff Phantasmal Warlock scales with your power and precision and with the number of condition on the target, and therefore even the staff scales better with power than condition damage.
I know, that less CD on the summoning skills is more fun, but the leveling does not take too long, so you’ll enjoy them soon enough again. In the meantime it should still be possible to have fun leveling without any problems.
Maybe also take a look at which PvE Maps you have not yet completed, are designed for lower levels.

Its dumb and broken.
It’s like saying the turtles in a mario game are broken -.-
There was a time, you were not used to deal with the GW2 Dodge mechanic, because it was something new, and I ensure you, you’ll get used to the down-state mechanic. It’s fun to play with, and give the game more depth!

My second mesmer is currently lvl 40, and he is perfectly fine. He is even wearing level 20 clothes, because I want to run around in style, and don’t want to invest more transmutation charges^^
You don’t need ‘Deceptive Evasion’, you just have to adjust your playstyle. Don’t shatter your illusions, let them live.
Currently playing:
- Greatsword / Staff (Sweapon out to focus when I’m running a longer distance)
- 2-0-0-0-0 (+15% Illusion Damage), prior the second point I used the minor trait in chaos for regeneration.
- Blink and Decoy for mobility and survival-ability , Radiation Field as Asura and Mistfire Wolf for veterans. (Elite suggestions depending on race: Summon 7-Series, Warband Support, Hounds of Balthazar, Take Root or Moa [I don’t have any experience with Norn racials])
- Play-style: Normal mobs: GS 4,2,3 should end them quickly.
Veterans: GS 4,2,3.Elite,Radiation Field (more Debuffs), swap to staff 5,3, depending on clone uptime 2 through the aether field for chaos armor, maybe press decoy for additional staff clone.
- Don’t shatter until you can kill the mob with the shatter damage, otherwise keep the clones and phantasms attacking.
You should not have any problems leveling in pve this way (at least I don’t have any). Most part of the leveling experience feels more easy than ever, since the have adjusted the npcs. f.e. some skill point challenges are really easy now.
PvE is still to hard for you? Go into the Edge of the Mists, follow a commander. Most of the time you’ll not meet any opponents, but get a lot of event experience, and therefore you can level up quickly.

Hotjoin and Custom Arenas have a cap of about 25% per day (can be split up in different paths).
SoloQ and TeamQ do not have a cap. Have fun playing some tournaments

Last time I clicked “Play Now” I got onto a custom arena, but I think one with the same settings as the hot-join servers from ArenaNet.
That’s by design. Our hot-join servers are really just custom arenas that we run. All that is required to be picked up by the “Play Now” feature is to use the standard config.
Tested it out again. With “Play Now” I just landed twice on 9vs9 Custom Arenas with the new map, where everyone is just fighting in the middle -.- Please adjust the ‘Play Now’ button to only include 5vs5 Custom Arenas.

Really love the new daily. I can finish it during playing only SPvP, PvE or WvW – or if I want, I can really mix it up!
Now it feels really good, something that I still want to accomplish, and not something that is only here for farming achievement points.

Want to try out a condi guard in pvp with all the new traits? Well, you just can’t because your char is not even close to 80 (can’t go to orr), and for unlocking them via the merchant, you need just too many skill points.
Suggestion 1: Account-Wide Trait-Unlock:
You only have to do the challenge once OR buy the traits once to unlock them for every character ever created.
Suggestion 2: Reduce the amount of skill points necessary to unlock the newest gm traits.
Suggestion 3: Like every other trait, the GM traits should be available from the start in pvp too.

Tonics are pretty useless. I’d appreciate if more of them would have been converted to armor.
Personally I now have three useless tonics, which could easily have been armor skins:
- GW2 T-Shirt
- Khaki Shorts
- Riding Boots
I really don’t understand why those where converted to tonics instead of armor skins.
I hope those will get changed to armor skins – thanks in advance!

First of all, don’t be confused when your character equip looks different after logging in.
Currently the equip design you wear in pvp is different from the rest of the game. So after your first log-in your char will have the pve appearance.
If you have never played pve before, you might need to buy a helmet or some new weapons from the merchant nearby.

I think its time to remove solo arena wins from the daily PvP. Instead make it hot join wins.
I don’t see the context. Someone who wants to win (f.e. for the achievement points) is going to leave the match, that he will not win the said game, and even more so, will risk getting banned from ranked queues for 72hrs, that he can’t win games in the upcoming days?
Encouraging players to win matches, and encouraging players to play in the ranked queuing system is a good thing. We definitely need more incentives focused on that.
Primoridal (S1) & Exalted (S2) & Illustrious (S3) Legend

To be clear: before tomorrow’s patch you should open all of your tournament chests, spend all of your glory, and use all of your PvP crafting materials.
Think X armor doesn’t fit your character’s appearance? Craft it anyways and put it in your locker.
:)
We all know already that filling up the locker will be great, but can’t you just tell us, what will happen to the crafting mats and so on? I suppose they will all just get deleted, but a confirmation would be nice nevertheless.

Hey guys I didnt realize how much regen my build actually had but when i went to test it, it out regens a warrior with full healing power.
warrior:496 heal per sec= 1488 health per 3 sec
My build: 160 heal per sec(perma regen)=480 health per 3 sec
1050 heal per 3 sec(sig of ether)+ 480 heal per 3= 1530 hp per 3 secWarrior= 1488 health per 3 sec
My mes= 1530 health per 3 secI constantly have 3 illusions up in my build, its a no shatter illusion build so if one dies it instantly gets replaced. Also I only run about 500 healing power. With full healing power I heal for 2,065 per 3 sec.
Build is here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Fairytail-s-Finest-Build/first#post3881780
Please post more information how you get your numbers.
0 healing power:
Healing Signet: 392 per second = 1.176 per 3 seconds
Adrenal Health: 351 per 3 seconds
Warrior Summary without Regeneration = 1.527 per 3 seconds
vs Signet of the Ether with 3 Illusions = 980 per 3 seconds
1000 healing power:
Healing Signet (scaling 0.05): 442 per second = 1.326 per 3 seconds
Adrenal Health (scaling 0.15): 501 per 3 seconds
Warrior Summary without Regeneration = 1.826 per 3 seconds
vs Signet of the Ether with 3 Illusions (scaling 0.125) = 1.105 per 3 seconds
Regeneration? Both professions can have them permanent, so no need to include it.
That’s the difference from healskill + 2 passive traits alone.
Well, if you want the “real” number of what heal per second you are able to push out you have to include: ‘Restorative Mantas’ for the mesmer and for the warrior ‘Compassionate Banner’ and ‘Vigorous Shouts’.
Edit Conclusion: No, you cannot out-regen a warrior, it seems, you just do not know the warrior profession, and missed to include their regen traits.

Don’t think that the combat nor the game mode is the problem.
Even after the patch gw2 is missing incentives for top tier players.
Smite launched with a $100k (+5$ per ticket purchase) tournament. If you really want ‘esports’ to kick off, that’s the target to aim for. (Ofc now announcing such a tournament to launch within a few month would be pointless.)
Really need a way to let people know, that gw2 tpvp exists, and has a future.
Primoridal (S1) & Exalted (S2) & Illustrious (S3) Legend
but this trait is not one of them, they are changing this not because it’s brainlessly op, only because it is bugged.
There have already been cases, where they adjusted the tooltip to match the actual effect.
The trait design is not bad, but with Cleansing Ire and Burst Mastery it is way to strong at his current position. So either change the position and make it a grandmaster trait, or tone down its effect.
@been so since release: But everything else effecting this trait has not. In the current state, and with all the upcoming changes it would be too strong. Would it have been a better solution to left this trait in place, but adjust all the other traits? Maybe, but that’s not an option here.
Nevertheless I think we should now just wait the last week till the patch hits lives, and then rethink every balance aspect and provide feedback accordingly.
Edit: I said, that the trait ‘Building Momentum’ is currently even stronger than ‘Feline Grace’.
Primoridal (S1) & Exalted (S2) & Illustrious (S3) Legend
If you don’t include the weapon skills, Building momentum doesnt do anything, it’s a trait which only works up on using weapon skills. you know that right.
What? Quoting out of context is the actual way to go here? It thought you were interested in a meaningful discussion.
If you are just interested in a black and white view, I can help you with that: Warriors smack faces → they needs to get shaved down, deal with it!
Primoridal (S1) & Exalted (S2) & Illustrious (S3) Legend

you simply don’t know how this trait works in real game play, and you don’t have a single kitten idea, please be gone of this discussion.
Oh no, somebody does not share your view! Ban them!
What’s the point of a discussion thread if you just want your own opinion here?
If you’d really love the warrior profession, you’d understand, that it is too strong, and need to get tunes down. With the upcoming sigil cd changes in combination of ‘Fast Hand’ even more so.
And no, since ‘Combustive Shot’ does not require you to successful hit a target, it was far too easy to maintain +50% endurance per 8 seconds.
Primoridal (S1) & Exalted (S2) & Illustrious (S3) Legend
We cant say exactly what will happen post patch, they may get stronger due to on swap sigil changes or weaker from nerfs given.
Wait till after patch.
we’ve waited long enough, hambow needs to go.
i don’t know if anet pay you but how you can advise someone to “wait” after 6 months of a ridiculously low skill/high reward build is beyond me.
JinDaVikk is right, there is too much going on to be able to imagine what is going to happen.
Yes, the past month were horrible, and a big mistake from ArenaNets side.
There will mostly again be some OP-specs once the patch hits lives, and I hope ArenaNet has learned from the past mistakes, and will then be quicker with their balance updates.
But I don’t really see the point of complaining now about certain specs, since everything might be changed within a week.
Primoridal (S1) & Exalted (S2) & Illustrious (S3) Legend
wiki“Each dodge requires 50% endurance. Endurance regenerates over time, at a base rate of 5% per second and a max rate of 10% per second.”
That means – without vigor – for 50% endurance you have to wait 10 seconds.
Now with ‘Building Moment’ you get one additional dodge every 10 seconds per weaponset. Now combine that with ‘Burst Mastery’ ‘Cleansing Ire’ and maybe some vigor (how about ‘Vigorous Focus’) you just the master of dodges, and therefore completely broken.
Let’s compare that to the thief trait ‘Feline Grace’: 15 Endurance per Dodge. You think a thief can dodge too much? Well, a warrior can currently dodge far more.
Yes, most people are playing a tanky hambow-build, but maybe take a look from time to time at the ESL, then you realize that hambow is no longer the strongest warrior spec by far. People only continue to complain about hambows because there are not at lot of "ROM"s out there, to let people realize there are far more annoying specs out there.
Primoridal (S1) & Exalted (S2) & Illustrious (S3) Legend
well if u have played 1 time spirit ranger in higher tier then u would know that spam wins nothing.
Looked you up on gw2score.com – not sure where you get your information from, since it appears you have never played in the ‘higher tier’. Feel free to do the same with me or renegade.
In got into detail about every shortbow-skill, not sure at which point you have been offended. My overall conclusion was that besides number 4 the overall design is good, even tho you can just mindlessly press every button, it is more effective to use the abilities in the right situation.
The real problem with f.e. a spirit ranger starts, when it does not matter if he times his abilities right, but due to offensive procs (f.e. Sun Spirit) deals enough damage while managing to survive due to defensive procs (f.e. ‘Empathic Bond’).
Is there a difference between a good ranger (f.e. like ZeParrot/Niah) and a bad (f.e. like Nary Why Irk)? Yes, totally, but even a bad one can be very effective.
And this should influence the design of the professions and their abilities. Unfortunately like the thread-creator already said in his intro, for most of the core stuff it might already be too late.
Primoridal (S1) & Exalted (S2) & Illustrious (S3) Legend
@teutos funny how the spirit ranger can basicly “spam” all skills with cooldown.
Maybe we just have a different definition of ‘spam’. Personally I use it for “mindlessly pressing it once you are able to do so”.
Primoridal (S1) & Exalted (S2) & Illustrious (S3) Legend
1)Skills in this game should be more situational, skills should have less different effects. […]
2) auto attacks are way too strong in this game
btw: I think the vulnerability comes from, the clone attacking with the normal ‘Mind Slash’ chain, like every other sword clone (f.e. created by ‘Mirror Images’) does.
I think your idea is easier said than done. It is a very narrow path behind between just spamming ‘auto attack’ and spamming all your skills.
Let us take a look at your example the spirit ranger with shortbow:
Number 1 ‘Crossfire’: Auto-Attack and therefore a filler between everything else; most effective if you can attack your opponent from the side or back.
Number 2 ‘Poison Volley’: Best used if the enemy is close. So better not use it when running towards your opponent, but use it once you reached him. Can basically be spammed, but most efficient in a certain situation.
Number 3 a dodge, well, you can basically spam this ability, but most effective if timed right.
Number 4 ‘Crippling Shot’: You can basically spam it. This ability could need some improvements.
Number 5 ‘Concussion Shot’: Daze, for the best effective try to interrupt a certain ability.
Another example where would be a Scepter/Dagger necromancer. On the first glance it looks like you can simply spam everything, but to be most efficient you have to take a look at the auto-attack chain, to make sure you apply poison (via ‘Putrid Curse’) and don’t interrupt your auto-attack chain with your other weapon abilities. I think the weapon sets, and the game as a whole have more depth, than we give it credit for.
Don’t get me wrong, I also think, that certain weapon sets need a rework. I’d love to have more weapon sets with more situational skills, without resulting in a simple auto-attack-spam, but I think overall they have done a great job so far.
Anyway I will take part in every CDI profession discussion, and include the specific weaponset revisions I’d love to see.
3) Nerf “proc X condition on X moment” traits and utilities.
I think for that we should take a look at the outcome, and not the overall proc.
Is a necromancer with ‘Dhuumfire’ too strong? Then change the trait.
Is a mesmer with ‘haltering strike’ too strong? Then reduce the number, if not, keep it.
F.e. ‘haltering strike’ only really let you benefit from it, once you manage to interrupt skills. This is far a better design than just a ‘increase damage’-modifier like ‘Mental Torment’ increasing the Mind Wrack damage by 20%.
[Personally I think ‘haltering strike’ should have it’s normal damage increased, but be no longer able to critical hit.]
4) Proper animations
Agree with your here. Especially some asura animations need a rework.
F.e. the signet symbol you have above your head while casting one should get a rework.
5) Lessen the amount of skills that apply ticking conditions
6) Lessen the amount of skills that remove conditions
Would love to test around with how condition damage and removal actual works / mess around with the design philosophies behind the condition concept.
I’d love to refer to your intro here → maybe it is too late for changing that.
The game is constantly growing and changing, I think we should focus more on specific things we don’t like and not on core problems.

To be honest, the ‘S R X’-guy was the only one with rank above 30, and he alone scored the points for your team.
Just taking a look at your weapon and utility choice, you have a lot – and I really mean a lot – to improve. I suggest you to look into some guides, just picking something that looks fine does not work well in the ranked SPvP formats.

So would you say stores “cheat” you when they have periodic sales on items you purchased at full price previously?
No. Because with every purchase I compare if – for me – the price is worth it or not.
Just take in mind, that every item may get a discount. On that information I decide if I purchase something or not.
F.e. currently I’m waiting for a char slot sale. Currently I don’t need a char slot for 800 gems, but once it will get on sale, I’ll grab one, to have it just in case.

I’d also love the get one of those, but I’m not sure for which price.
In the end you’ll get out for every ‘Consumable Token’ – as long as you have crafting mats – a color, depending on the color between 8s (most likely) to 30 gold (quite unlikely).
Personally I think 10 silver for every token would be fair.
How much do you think should a ‘Consumable Token’ cost?
