At this point I feel quite bad for the people who created the event.
I bet they went through some rough days at work lately.
It’s been a rough year with their string of failure.
?? They mostly worked on HoT, not released much that could failed. The specialisation update was good. Some issue but overall an improvement. The golem rush was nice, but a very small event. The end of LS2 was good IMO, some people like and other don’t , but that’s a matter of opinion. It wasn’t a fail. The LA events with karka and the JP was SOOO nice. We went through it in a couple of hours but we did it in a group of 20 and it was a blast. Same with the JP in Silverwaste.
A quiet year of low quantity of content while they work on the expansion. There was some failed like the current event or the karma booster, but overall it wasn’t a year with string of failure.
At this point I feel quite bad for the people who created the event.
I bet they went through some rough days at work lately.
Even that wouldn’t help, people are happily announcing they are AFKing once they hit 20 stacks 15 minutes into the event.
People that go AFK will always exist. Al least with this system people that want the reward like me will help more because I will not need to leech as much.
It make no sense to incentivize people to leech.
- Ascended crafting (so you are not limited by RNG drops)
- Legendary Crafting
- Special Items (for exemple Mawdrey or exotic back item)
- Making money (some specific things can yield money, but you need to know what to do and the vast majority of people don’t get their money back from level up their crafting profession.
- Completing everything (there is some achievement for completing crafting profession to 400 and 500).
Or other circumstances. But they don’t allow you to call people bad if properly considered, so we can conveniently leave out that little detail to save your ego. But at least we can agree that the event isn’t that great.
What? Lol. Who don’t allow me to call people bad? Check this out bad bad bad. I’m bad at a lot of things. That’s not an insult.
My ego feel pretty good thanks for asking.
Unfortunately the only way to get that many stacks is to run to an event, tag a few mobs, then just leave.
Truely the biggest mistake of this event was ALLOWING that.
Not true. The biggest mistake of this event is to INCENTIVIZE that.
P.S. : and the loot
P.S.S. : and the boring events
Why do you follow the zerg then? Small group of around 10 do the event faster and it’s easier to get it done. You can even get 20 stacks using this method if the group is good.
I didn’t follow the zergs, I followed the icons on the map. There was either a zerg already there or they would show up shortly afterwards. There are only so many events happening at any given time. Either way, the events grew stale pretty quickly.
What do you want me to say. Never had any problem to reach 20+ so maybe it’s the way you are playing.
But like I said, the even is super bad anyway (loots and content).
I agree, all i want is the 10 points .Some dailies don’t belong with each other
How can you compare harvest 5 lumbers to doing a set of fractals, the time gap is huge between them or
Spend 25 honor or capture a keep , Dafaq?
And they all contribute +1 to the set no matter how absurdly different they are -_-.And?
It’s 10 AP. Pointless as it can be, what does it matter? I mean I’m not saying they shouldn’t remove AP from dailies, I agree, but it’s a problem for later once more pressing issues are resolved.
It’s true that’s not a big deal, it’s just AP. But it doesn’t matter that the daily lack choices, sometimes it does some weird stuff like 2 fractals or 2 engineer wins limiting even more the choice if you don’t do these specific things.
But the difference in term of effort between some of them, I don’t mind. The reward for a harder daily is usually higher anyway so this balance out. If you are only looking for the AP then yes the reward isn’t balanced, but more choice of daily would fix that for you.
Also keep in mind that some people like AP. I have a little competition with my friend over this and this motivate us both, which is a good thing. New players are often discrimanted when they have low amount of AP and daily is one of the best way for them to get more. I agree that the discrimination is stupid, but it exist and daily help new player have a better experience of the game, so it’s important for them to get easy access to daily.
This is my objective opinion from someone that have no problem with completing daily because I play PvP with 6 differents profession so I can always do my daily in 15min in a PvP match while having fun.
That,s because you are bad. Don’t get me wrong but if you can’t tag mobs and always running too late at events, that’s on you. We did some testing my friends and I and on our try first maps we always got between 20 and 30 stacks. Hell even while I do the even as intented I also get 10+
The majority of people in the zergs I was in last night only got 10-12 stacks. Most mobs were dead after the first or second hit, if you managed to hit them at all. Meh. I went back to leveling alts.
Why do you follow the zerg then? Small group of around 10 do the event faster and it’s easier to get it done. You can even get 20 stacks using this method if the group is good.
What’s the minimum amount of stacks to get 15 blossoms? People say it’s 20, others are saying it’s 21.
it’s 20
This event is still glitched for me. I do not receive experience from killing enemies, I do not receive drops from enemies I kill, I do not receive experience, karma, or gold from completed events, and enemies do not count as kills for sigils, runes, and traits.
Please work on a fix asap.
I think that it’s on purpose and not a bug. Which is super stupid IMO.

Could be worse OP. I bought GW2 2 days before the announcement because I didn’t want to spend more not knowing if I liked it. And seems I don’t qualify for the refund either.
I do like it so have dropped for HoT twice afterwards (GF and me). Don’t mind paying for HoT, but they got my extra money due to no trial accounts.
You know what? Its only £20.
If you bougth GW2 2 days before the announcement of free to play it mean that bougth the expansion, just like any F2P would need to do to get the full game. Unless you bougth it from a third party.
Did rev get on demand Aegis in different forms? If not I think we’re good
For PVE and WvW I doubt we’ll ever be considered a bad option, not optimal in PVE maybe but we’re already sitting there, but surely nice to have.
For tPVP /shrug, as far as I understood we already weren’t an optimal selection.
Either way we’re a solid profession with many strengths, it won’t ever be an issue IMO.
Aegis is overrated. 1 block on 50+ sec cd is bad.
Guards are slowly replaced by Revenants which are straight upgrade to us.
that is true because renewd focus, retreat, courgous return, communal defense, fragements of faith and pure of voice which converts burn to aegis were magically removed from the game to support this argument.
Renewed focus is not aegis nor block.
It regen your F3 block. And that’s not the point. Aegis is way more than 1 every 50sec.
Got back while being away for a little bit. Tried this event and can tell its pretty bad. Have to be really quick to tag mobs or waste silvers using way points only to find by the time you reach the mobs, they are dead.
That,s because you are bad. Don’t get me wrong but if you can’t tag mobs and always running too late at events, that’s on you. We did some testing my friends and I and on our try first maps we always got between 20 and 30 stacks. Hell even while I do the even as intented I also get 10+
It would also help if the stacks didn’z disappear after the event beccause that way it is literally impossible to get more than 20 stacks, and even 15 is stretching it.
No need to get higher than 20 stacks. We reached 30 yesterday and we still got 15 blooms from stack.
But ya, the amount is too low. At 35 blooms by map it was ok, but even there my friend and I needed 20-30 runs to get what we wanted. Meaning that we would have a lot of farming to do during the weekend. But 35 is with the daily, after that we’ll get 15 by map, which isn’t worth it at all. I’ll still need to do 49 runs out of the 72 there will be. I think i’ll forget about it. I’ll do the 3 daily maps and that’s it.
This event is based heavily on the Scarlet Invasions. It has some arguable improvements (mobs not dropping loot) and some odd design cuts (no end boss?). I think it’s better than it’s predecessor overall and has some interesting rewards. It could definitely still be improved upon (cutting all avenues for players to exploit rewards), but it’s hardly the worst pve event ever, in my opinion.
I had way more fun during the scarlet invasion
They responded about 45min ago on the forum. Well Gaile did.
They have announced it on the forums.
It’s meant to last through the weekend and to extend it out a week for several hours of it not working is excessive.
The gold cost is acting as a gold sink.
They will increase the blooms as it’s been stated that not enough is being awarded.
?? Didn’t saw that and it doesn’t seem to be on the dev tracker. Here what Gaile said.
Mordrem Invasion Update:
We know that some of you are experiencing issues with the Mordrem Invasion Event. A few notes:
- The team is aware of the issues and is working on a fix, which will be rolled out as soon as possible.
- Once this is live, we anticipate future incursions of the Mordrem will take place as planned, and rewards will be given as intended.
- Those who earned rewards and did not receive them will be given their rewards. This could take several days, so please allow time for this to happen.
Thanks for your patience as we work on the resolution of this issue.
She also said that the NPC vendor for the event will stay after the event. I don’t see anything about extenting the event for a week or increasing the amount of blooms. She only said that like it was suppose to, there will be other Invasion in the future and that people that earned reward, but didn’t get them will receive them in a couple of days.
A lot of misconception about the increase in damage from ascended. Sorry Skitz, but Dinks is right.
Here three figure when compare a full exotic character to a full ascended character
- The increase of points of stat is around 5%
- The increase in DPS for a normal DPS build is around 13-15%
- The increase in DPS for a DPS build in a full buff situation is around 10-11%
When someone talk about a 5% increase in damage when talking about ascended over exotic is usually because they only talk about armor because ascended trinket are easy to get and ascended weapon are usually worth it, but ascended armor not so much. The diffence in DPS between a character full ascended and a character full but with exotic armor is between 5-3%.
I could play the sit in the corner and do nothing role, but it doesn’t matter. None of the roles remotely matter if you can stack and DPS down poor AI. It runs right through the game, almost zero mechnics. Anet knows this and has tried to revamp certain elements of the game, hell they’re telling you about all these new mechanics and how different the expansion is going to be when it comes to encounters so you buy it! They’re telling you it was bad so buy the expansion, maybe if you’re not willing to listen to me you’ll listen to them!
Ok now go fractal 50 stack and DPS without blind, aegis, reflect, etc.
That’s just bullkitten. Again if it was ONLY stack and DPS we would have group of 1 Warrior and 4 Elementalist, but it’s not the case. This kind of response is freaking frustrating.
Talk about how more than half the dungeon have poor encounter that need very few support. Talk about how many of the mechanic in the game doesn’t really have an impact (Boon Corrupting, Condi Transfer, weakness, etc) or very few impact (stab, condi clear, protection, etc) in PvE content. Talk about how Control is lacking. Talk about the unbalence between direct damage and condition damage.
The game has some serious role in their profession, but the content don’t push or ask players to use them as much as most player would like.
The issue isn’t that I don’t know how to get there, it’s the fact that I can’t get the daily by doing things I would have done anyway, I have to go out of my way to do them.
Did you read yourself? QQ I can’t have the daily reward for free? Oh wait you do with Login Reward.
QQ I can’t get the AP for free.
like, how to? I always run away when enemy turned into Rampage and come back when the rampage gone, when I play guardian bunker.
With Shelter, Focus #5, 3 Aegis, 1 block, 2 blinds, 4-5 dodges (sigil or energy) and Renewed Focus if needed you have far than enough to keep Rampage to hurt you much. But like someone else said, you gonna blow out a couple of cooldown. You need to block about 15 attacks during the Rampager and I just gave you enough skill to block 15-20 attacks.
I won’t be using DH that’s for sure and my Guardian will still be the same. But I’ll definitely build a Revenant. I think that people over hype the reveant. It will be good because of Shiro/Herald (the rest isn’t that good tbh), but it won’t replace a guardian, it will complement it.
Guardian will be superior in dungeon (Guardian is better for burst fight), while both will have their use in Raids.
Ok so
- Reflect you need Hammer and Legendary Centaur Stance
- Perma Quickness need Legendary Assassin Stance
- Blind need Legendary Centaur Stance and Salvation Specialization
- Perma Fury need Legendary Dragon Stance
- Perma Regen need Legendary Dragon Stance
- +150 Ferocity need Devastation Specialization
- Perma Protection need Legendary Dragon Stance
- Vulnerability need at least Sword MH
- The boon duration need a off Hand Shield and Herald Specialisation
After that you need to take into account the energy cost. The guardian can put a Wall of Reflection, give fury and quickness, blind, and give protection (with a Hammer). All at the same time. Can a Revenant do that? And if so for how much time?
- Protection cost 5 Energy per second
- Quickness cost 10 Energy per second
- Fury cost 2 Energy per second
- Projectile Protection will cost 8 Energy to keep 20second
- Blind cost 10 Energy to blind every 3sec
If you start at 50 Energy you can keep that up for 2,5 sec.
If you start at 100 Energy you can keep that up for 6.8 sec.
The guardian on the other hand can keep up everything for 10second except the Quickness which is 5second.
NEW META. The Herald with Legendary Assassin Stance, Legendary Centaur Stance and Legendary Dragon Stance with a Hammer and Sword/Shield and Herald/Devastation/Salvation Specializations.
Oh wait, this doesn’t work.
The revenant CAN’T replace a guardian. It can complement it on certain aspect. Revenant is more about long term specific buff. It can keep up protection for a long time, or projectile protection or fury/quickness and he can switch from one to the other with ease. But the Guardian can put everything into play at once for a burst. Something that the Revenant can’t do. The guardian is also more adaptable since he can take specific utility to serve the situation, while the Revenant need to change the whole Stance.

Whatever the new system is, they kind botched the current AR system. It just don’t upgrade that easily. People will need to sacrifice or pay to keep their current AR and upgrade it. It look like the problem we get when there is a new tier of gear in other game.
Hopefully, all new AR will come from the mastery and we won’t lose anything, but then the craftable AR is a wasted system.
Your goal here is to figure out the damage coefficient. That’s the only thing that won’t change depending on stats. On the wiki, you gonna see that people already tested some coefficient. The damage number on the wiki and hero panel are unreliable.
If you want to figure out a damage coefficient try to eliminate as much variable as possible. Have no boons, no buff, no trait, etc. Then attack several times with your skill and see what is the damage on your combat log. If you did it right, the only variable would be your weapon damage (before we had special weapons in PvP with no variation in damage, but I don’t think they exist anymore).
Then you use the damage formula backward. For each hit try to look if it’s a crit or not (non crits are easier so try to have as little crit chance as possible). The more data you have the more you will be able to compensate for the variability of the weapons damage (again it was easier when we had the weapon with no variation in damage).
It’s easy to find the armor of the practice golems in Hearts of the Mist. For exemple, the heavy golem have 2597 armor.
Alternatively, you can use the the skill bar tooltip. Keep in mind that that tooltip give you the damage without crits against a target with 2600 armor (so it should be near the actual damage you do to the Heavy Golem.
You need to wait. Sometime you are unlucky and a bunch of people get the Howler and sell them about the same time you do so the price go down and nobody buy your Howler. But don’t cancel the order, the price should go back up, it will just take a couple more weeks.
If you really want to make sure, you can take a look at gw2spidy and see the history of the item to try to figure out at which price you can put it so it will sell.
I doudt it will be 100 AR. If they keep the current table (need 15 additional AR for each new tier of Agony), this mean that we gonna need 130 AR for level 99 and 145 AR for level 100
They didn’t said that they won’t reset it, but I doubt it. That would be so dumb from them. The fractured reset had a certain logic since we weren’t suppose to go higher than 30 anyway.
Yeah, should be a one time thing. Bam, problem solved.
I don’t see any problem.
1) Yes there were a reset with the update named Fractured.
2) This was one of the biggest community outrage. Nobody was suppose to be higher than level 30 in the first place, they wanted everybody to experience the new instability and they wanted a levelled playing field for the upcoming leaderboards which never came because it was a dumb idea to begin with anyway. It was a mess on Anet part.
But with the expansion, we’ll be able to reach level 100 in fractal.
But will a reskinned ascended still give legendary footsteps?
Yes they do. I have a couple ascended with legendary skin for alts and alternative stats/sigil configuration.
The only reason they got weapon swap added (they didn’t launch with that) was from before the wardrobe. When you had to use a transmutation crystal to move the skin to another GS destroying the first set of stats in the process, which meant if you wanted to switch back it cost a 3rd GS, then a 4th, 5th, etc.
Expensive with exotics, just nuts with ascended.
Now that we have the wardrobe and the ability to apply the legendary skin to as many weapons as you want with no loss of gear it’s time for the stat swapping to go and legendaries restored to what they are supposed to be, and that is cosmetic ONLY.
The stats swap on Legendary was added because before each Legendary had one stats. So I remember when I crafted my Sunrise it was Soldier stats. This problem would still be there today if they remove the stats swap. My Sunrise would be Soldier stats and I would need to craft a Ascended and then transmute my legendary on that ascended.
Make no sense that you need to craft both an Ascended and a Legendary just to have the right stats on your Legendary. They could change the swap stats to a one time thing. Like you craft your legendary, you choose your stats once and then you can swap them to something else. I wouldn’t mind that, but is it that important?
I rather that they also include a sigil swapping system personally.
To be fair. Legendary is another tier of gear. Rare is yellow, Exotic is orange, Ascended is pink and Legendary is purple. Ascended is harder to get that Exotic and Legendary is harder to get that Ascended.
But a new tier of gear isn’t what people hate and that Anet promise to not add to the game. What we don’t want is power creep by adding more powerful tier of gear. Legendary isn’t more powerful, it’s just cosmetic and quality of life.
New player here, looking for motivation to stick with it.
Bought GW2 a couple months ago, and I’ve tried to get into it several times since then, but each time I quickly got bored and quit. I have yet to make it out of the starter zones, which just feel oversimplified and unengaging to me.
I know plenty of people love this game, so what am I missing? Does it get markedly better after the starter zones? When do the quests become more interesting? And when does the combat become more fun and engaging? At a particular level? Only at endgame? Only in pvp? Or if I don’t like playing in the starter zones, is this simply not the game for me?
I hate doing maps. I played 3k hours in the last 3years in GW2, doing maps was maybe less than 1% of that time.
I agree with your points, I’m not for the traditional trinity at all I just find it peculiar that people grab their pitchforks when they hear the term in the forums. zerker only speed run groups are ok though.
The main difference is that zerker speed run are an optimal way of doing content, not the only possible. I have more fun doing fractal 50 with 1 cleric, 3 assassins and 1 sinister that I have when I play with 5 zerker even if it’s less efficient to play that way.
In a traditional MMO you can’t play without 1 healer, 1 tank and 3 DPS. In GW2 we have the choice.
L2P is the best option. Otherwise you can take a couple of soldier or valkyrie gear to give you a safety net until you know how to fight with your thief. You can also take a more defensive trait line. Like taking Acrobatic (for more dodge) or Shadow Arts (for regen and condi removal on stealth).
We would need to change several key skills if we want to prevent content from being a joke.
1# Stealth. Dungeons are a joke when parties can just skip content. Smoke fields should be changed into giving vigor on blasts, and portals should be limited to only teleport 1 player inside instanced content and raids.
2# Reflects. Bosses are a joke when every attack can just be skipped by a single skill. The fastest DPS ever recorded in game and has been described as a exploit has been caused by reflecting lupi’s attack in Arah, and reflecting negates completely many boss mechanics in the game. Reflect should be changed to only negate the next 5 attacks.
3# Banners. Instanced content are designed around 5 players and are a joke when two utilities and a single trait contributes the same DPS as if there were and additional player in the party, while also locking the meta to direct damage. Those should be nerfed by 50% to encourage a different meta and remove the requirement of one warrior per party.
4# Zerker Meta. Parties that only invest in damage over everything else make content a joke. Dungeons should inflict different kind challenge, some which require a minimum amount of healing prayer to survive. Some bosses should be immune to direct damage, or do a undodgeable attacks which require toughness to survive.
1# Stealth. I agree that skip could be done better, but skip is fun when done right. They can make anti-stealth trap like in the bomb section that you need to evade or run around. They could make stuff that you still need to dodge or block, etc. Stealth isn’t the problem at all. There is no skip that can only be done with stealth.
2# Reflects. Well two things. Boss should have different attacks. If we reflect, they should try to attack with non projectiles and not continue with their standard rotation. If that’s too hard to do, they should make shorter reflection duration, while lower cooldown. So you need to put the reflect at the right time. Right now a WoR with MoC is super long and don’t need skill to use effectively.
3# Banners. I disagree partially. True that right now, buffing improve mostly direct damage. Fury, Spotter and Banner of Discipline improve FAR more direct damage build and things like Frost Spirit only improve direct damage. They could modify a little how buff works. It’s also true that banner and PS lock warrior behind one single build. Not saying that they should be remove, but they could be modify several ways. For exemple, they could change Warrior trait so that he can give might on other weapons than just GS.
4# Zerker Meta. I disagree with most of that part. We bring thief because of stealth and blind, we bring Guardian because of defensive support, we bring Warrior because of offensive buff, we bring Mesmer because of defense and utilities, etc Gear =/= role.
Immune to direct damage, like boss that instant wipe condition are bad design. Just like undodgeable attacks. Now boss that can protect themselves against burst (so you need to interrupt them) or boss that can condi remove (so you need to bait them before you burst with condi) or boss that can dodge. That’s good design that push people into using different tools to go through the challenge, but can still counter play those.
Just think 2 second about the implication of what you are asking. A casual player will need a Soldier to complete a path with undogable boss, a sinister gear to complete a dungeon with a boss immune to direct damage and a zerker gear for the rest. The worst part is that most ’’elitist’’ won’t have problem to get 3 different armor, but casual players?
(edited by Thaddeus.4891)
That’s because of the content. One requires you to fill more roles the other doesn’t.
We have no trinity currently because we don’t need one, the mechanics are so poor yeah, you could run a healing build, but why? Everyone has pilled into the corner and grabbed the Ele’s conjured weapons. You’re not contributing anything.
Gear =/= roles.
On my Elementalist I try to max my DPS, on my thief I focus on stealth and blind, on my guardian i focus on keeping my allies high hp.
That three higly different role right there. But people see zerker and think OMG JUST ONE ROLE EVERYBODY DO THE SAME QQQQQQQ
Could they improve it? Yes. But saying that GW2 doesn’t have role is non sense.
1) We saw between 2 and 6% of the expansion map and we can already said that you can do kitten in solo in the expansion?
2) It’s a MMO. The whole point of that type of game is to play with other people. There is a WHOLE other type of game if you like GW2 but only want to play solo. It’s a single player RPG and most of those have better story and gameplay than GW2.
That is tiresome nonsense. MMO is playing with others around, it doesn’t mean grouping with them. Just because you like doing it doesn’t mean everybody does.
If I can’t play in HoT solo, I will be quitting this game. I refuse to be forced to group with others, having to hang around waiting for a group to form, etc.
As a matter of fact, this thread has convinced me to hold off, entirely, on buying HoT until I find out how soloable it is.
Never had to wait more than a couple of second to form a group. And you have no need to form a group while doing the new maps.
Atm only the
zerkerBezerker, Assassins and Sinisterisareeffectiveoptimal.
Fix it for you.
Tried both, also tried condition with my thief S/P but imo, sucks hard. Conditions don’t do enought damage because mobs have a huge pool of HP, and when you have huge HP you need huge power.
Infact conditions are a bit better in WvW where people have normal HP.
Both what? So what’s your goal. Try every profession bad in condition and complain about the fact that they are bad in condition. You have 3 powerful condition profession in the game, why don’t you try those.
I have already 2 char with zerker gear, isn’t this enought?
Why i have to make another char with zerk gear? I’m sick and tyred of this. I want a different build and be equal effective, not only the same pure dps.Hopefully, they could add a Condition Damage, Precision, Healing Power gear. That would be awesome since the Power of Sinister only give you like 5-10% additional DPS.
I think is useless if they add gear without modifing the outgoing damage and effectiveness of buff/debuff/heals.
Why do you care that much about your gear. Gear doesn’t change how you play. Traits, skills and weapons are what is important in GW2. I can be a support character in zerker gear.
They don’t need to change how heal work. Heal work perfectly fine. Maybe fine tuning some HP ratio, but other than that you can already have a unkillable healer.
The think is that healer are not needed and won’t be only healer. If you can heal and support with protection, vigor, aegis, condi removal, reflection, that would be a good healer in GW2. But like I said, there is no content where it’s needed. Fractal 50 is the only place where a healer can smooth the run a little, at the expanse of a longer run. Make even harder content and you will start to see that normal player in zerker won’t be able to complete the content and will need more support and healing to stay alive.
Why would condition damage, precision, healing power be useless? It won’t be optimal, but losing 5% of your dps for more healing power don’t seem like a bad tradeoff.
Well we’re getting close. Didn’t 4x ele win an ESL tournament?
Yup. But it’s 4 defensive elementalist. Get back at us when 4 Fresh air elementalist will wing an ESL tournament ; )
I understand the context of GW2 but coming from standard MMOs….
1. Buffs that improve damage that isn’t exclusive to others is DPS. Improving others’ DPS can be a form of support but when said support is half meant to make you do more damage is just another form of DPS. This would be a symbiosis/pet type of DPS.
2. Out of Combat effects are utility, which I suppose can be seen as a type of support but most (again, in different context) would just consider that utility, like a thief being able to pick locks, a moderatior/bard being able to charisma their way past people, etc.
3. Control is undertuned in PvE. For the most part, movement impairing effects hardly matter, immobilize is pretty strong and everything else relies mostly on split second effects. It’s only really effective if you’ve got oppressively strong DPS and undertuned everywhere else. Considering other games, building for control here often isn’t high priority or outwardly strong.
1) So might is a dps skill? Improving other people damage is a dps skill? Ok if I agree with that will you agree that self healing is the same as group healing?
2) Does it change anything? Ok then Thief are brought into meta because they bring utilities even if they do less dps than Elementalist. Sementic won’t change anything to the situation. All profession outside of Elementalist are in the meta because for NON-DPS reason (support, control, utilities, whatever the name).
3) Control is very important in good group. It’s not as important as DPS and Support and maybe they will improve it in HoT, but it’s still present and some profession sacrifice a little of DPS to bring a bit of control to improve the overall performance of the group.
Why did you tried a Mesmer Rabid? Try Guardian, Ranger or Engineer. All three are pretty good in condition.
As for Cleric guardian it’s good, but just not needed in the current content. Still a Cleric Guardian can make a fractal run a lot more smoother and if you have good ally, the run won’t be that much longer. Hopefully, 1 healing guardian in a party of 10 will be a decent choice in raids.
Also, why go all the way to Clerics? You know you take a more support guardian build with zerker gear so you still make decent dps. There is also Zealot which is a better middle ground between Healing and DPS.
Hopefully, they could add a Condition Damage, Precision, Healing Power gear. That would be awesome since the Power of Sinister only give you like 5-10% additional DPS.
Why isn’t anyone complaining about meteor shower? Granted the radius is larger, but it does 1.5x the damage of icebow #4 with 1/2 the CD (1/3 if you trait for it).
The radius make a HUGE difference. There is no boss as huge as a meteor shower, there is plenty of boss that are as huge as Icebow #4. Especially since Icebow allow two additional advantage over the Meteor Shower.
1) Deep Freeze allow you to pug all the damage on a none moving taget for max efficiency and adding 20% dmg for elementalist.
2) You have twice the amount of Icebow 4 as Meteor shower since each elementalist can give a Icebow to another person.
So in reality, maybe half the meteor shower will hit and Icebow will have the 20% additional dmg. Meaning that in reality it does almost twice the damage of a meteor shower and you can have 4 people doing it at the same time, while still have a more stable composition.
I agree that Icebow #4 could use a little nerf, but in reality it won’t change anything. We have two solutions here.
Either Icebow #4 is less dps than most burst skill, so nobody will use it.
Or it’s more dps than most burst and everybody will use it.
We can make the point that we can balance it a little to be more on par with Meteor Shower for exemple, but if Anet don’t nerf it into oblivion (like the FGS), the use of Icebow will pretty much stay exactly the same, even if they nerf it a little.
Hey everyone, I’m looking for any good pvp thieves to answer this for me. I started playing GW2 a couple weeks ago and I’ve spent that time pvping as a ranger. Now I’ve decided to play as a thief and I feel as though my burst doesn’t compare to the thief burst I’ve been seeing from others.
So how do you execute your burst with a D/P thief? Backstab feels like your only real hard hitter outside of heartseeker when your target is 25% hp or lower. I really like how thieves play but compared to my ranger I honestly just feel weak as is.
With hidden killer a Basilik Venom + Backstab + HS will usually be enough to kill any low defense build if they don’t have a break stun or rune of vampirism. You also have a lot of backstab. Like 5-6 in around 20 second. With shadow Shot and auto-attack you also have a huge pressure.
It’s not the thief DPS is bad either. It’s still and will remain one of the top single target dps of the game. It may had dropped behind Engineer and Elementalist (not totally sure), but there are still more profession behind him and in front of him.
Why would it be important that Daredevil have less dps than other elite specialisation?
Yup, it’s relatively easy to reach around 10-12k non-dailies AP if you did all the updates. Especially the first season, they used to give a couple of hundred AP. After that TOP achievers have the 15K from dailies to reach around 25-27k AP. After that you need to farm some extremely boring or costly stuff like Black Lion skins collection or WvW Achievement.
On Topic, I like the way it is. They planned the reward for the next couple of years with updates and expansion. Maybe they will increase the daily limit to 20K and add a couple of thousands new AP. And we already know that they will decrease the amount of some of the insane WvW achivement. I don’t think it will be long after the expansion that we’ll see a bunch of people with 30K+
