Beserker is the best choice for Thief (Power, Precision, Critical Damage).

http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Thief_-_D/D_S/P_Shortbow

If you feel you die to much you have three option. Stick with Beserker and switch some trait out to help you survive. Keep the build and train to get better at dodging. Or swap a couple of pieces to Valkyrie while you get more experienced with your profession.

Keep in mind that the build is for Dungeon mainly, you can about anything you want in open world.

Condition Damage isn’t in the best shape for thief right now. Burning is just way too powerful compare to bleeding and thief is almost all bleeding. There is runes of exuberance that give confusion to the thief, but that will only work for WvW. There still people that make condition build work on thief, but it’s not really popular these days.

I’m a less intense Altaholic than you, but still.

I have 8 characters level 80 and I play and used to play pretty much all of them.

My first was my Engineer, then I switched my main to my guardian, hated my ranger, fall in love with my Elementalist, started to farm CoF path 1 with my Mesmer and never touched it again when they changed dungeon, I fully equipped my Necro for WvW and stop playing that mode right after, made my Warrior for Dungeon with runes of strenght but after 100 dungeons just stop using him, fall in love a second time with the Thief this time, then I recently rediscovered my ranger for World boss. I have my champion title in PvP for 5 of my 8 character and a 6th is coming soon with my Necro.

I think that on third my time in game is on my main the Guardian, but the rest of my hours are almost evenly distributed between all my alts.

I don’t hate the new name. Actually I prefer it to Forge. It make more sense to the specialisation. Scrapper make more sense because he’s basically creating drone from scrap. It is also the name of a profession, not the name of an object.

I never heard of the meaning Scrapper for a char before and frankly couldn’t give more of a kitten.

That said, the French version of the name is way cooler than the English name (for once). I would have love Mechamancer or Mechatronician or something around that.

Silverwaste Chest Farming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Thaddeus.4891

Thaddeus.4891

Your reply is what makes no sense.. never since SW was patched from the original buried chest spawn has there ever been 10x more event maps than there are CF maps…

Event maps are hard to find most days unless your prepared to sit and wait a whiles for one to pop, or try to get lucky jumping maps to hit an empty copy where you can start your own.

Chest farm maps are a poor lazy game design aimed at trying to retain as many players in game for as long as possible in the hope that more gem sales will happen to buy the latest re-skinned, re-themed item in the store. But ANET like it that way, they like all the failtrain and chest farms because it does just what they want… keeps players logged in longer meaning they don’t have to take more time than necessary actually developing meaningful content that has a lot better replay value.

Weird. My guild do a SW map from 0 to 100% every week. We always end up right away on a 0-10% map when we log. Everytime I want to make a event map I up end on a 0-10% map right away. Everytime I want to do a chest farm I end up on a 0-10% map right away.

I never have problem finding a event map between 50-90%. Ya sometime there isn’t one on the LFG, but it usually start to appear pretty quicly. Keep in mind that most of those LFG fill out super quickly.

1, 2, 3) Chronomancer, Reaper, Herald : Aesthetically they feel well done, they have clear strength and seem to be able to create some new meta/great build.

4, 5) Berzerker and Daredevil : They seem ok, but not strong enough to be able to create really good build. But most of their problems could be fixed by the launch of the expansion (some of them were already acknowledge by the devs). They have potentiel, but need some polish.

6, 7) Those two have core issues. I’m ok with the aesthetic of the Tempest, but the Dragonhunter fall flat on that category. But they both fail when it come to their actual usefulness. Tempest fill a role that Ele already excel at, while Dragonhunter is just bad. I don’t think they can fit those for the expansion. They both need a lot of rework of their core principle.

Silverwaste Chest Farming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Thaddeus.4891

Thaddeus.4891

OP has a point. It’s disruptive to the intent of the map. Silverwastes is about events, not farming. I’m pretty sure Anet never intended for the map to be one or the other. Chest train farming are just an unintended consequence of it. I highly doubt Anet will change it.

If Anet didn’t saw that coming, they should all be fired. Chest were OBVIOUSLY made as a farming content. If they didn’t want it that they, they should have made the shovel only discover the chest for yourself, but they didn’t. The day silverwaste when online, there were already chest farm and it was insane with instant opening of chest and we were getting more crest from chest that we needed to buy key.

Obvious intended farm is obvious.

Is there any way possible to get a dev response on this? Please? If we need to have 170 hero points to unlock the elite’s then my Engineer (for instance) will need to grind out about 130 more, and I have one of each class with only my main having enough points atm. It would be nice to know if I need to start this grind now to be prepared.

You’ll need between 100 (if comparable to normal spec/skills) and 170 (according to datamining). I highly doubt any Dev will respond to that. You’ll have to wait for the expansion.

Fix Black Lion Chests / BL Tickets

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Thaddeus.4891

Thaddeus.4891

Looking at the loot available from Black Lion Chests I would like to see some of the more less-rewarding items be removed, others merged, and an increase of quantity of other drops to make it at the very least a bit less disheartening when receiving these.

Remove the following:

  • Boost Enchantment Powder
  • Beast, Forest, and Furniture Mystery Tonics (the ones that come in quantities of 10)
  • Tome of Knowledge
  • Large Guild Discovery
  • Medium, Large, and Heavy Crafting Bags
  • Endless Monkey King Tonic
  • All Boosters except the Heroic Booster.

Merge the following:

Increase Quantity the following:

  • Unidentified Dye to 3-5 per stack (up from 1-2)
  • Transmutation Charge to 5 per stack (up from 1)

I’m sure more can be done to improve the BLC contents, and the removal of highly unwanted items and a possible merger of others would be a good start to make BLC more rewarding. Just a suggestion, feel free to criticize or bounce more ideas around.

I love those idea so much except some few points.

Another big problem with Black Lion chest is account bound item. I have double and triple of some of those and this is no fun since you can’t even sell them. But I understand the principle of account bound item to make them unique. People need to open chest to get those specific reward. But there is ways to help the situation. We should be able to choose those rewards so we don’t have the same one multiple time. They could have a item that allow you to select specific minis that will be account bound, another one that allow you to select a tonic, etc.

Another idea would be to put 4 random account bound item from the Black Lion chest to receive another one account bound item. I’m talking here about tonic and mini here. Not the Revive Orb, booster, etc.

Or just make them bind on use so we can sell them. Already half the minis from BL chest are that way.

Silverwaste Chest Farming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Thaddeus.4891

Thaddeus.4891

Silverwaste was supposed to be a map to do the events and fight multiple bosses, NOT a chest farming map. If GW2 wants to keep chest farming in, make it for a limited time, so that those of us that like doing the events can. It is unfair that those of us who like doing the events have to wait until the chest farming group deems it the right time to do so. I also refuse to jump from map to map to map just to find some people to do events with. Keep the chest farming in, just limit it.

Make no sense. There is like 10 times more LFG for event maps than chest farm map. Don’t be lazy and use the LFG. Right now everybody can do what they want, either chest farm or event map, so let’s keep it that way.

I was hoping not to make a big deal out of that… the link is to my own post, so, yeah. :P only wanted to give something that backed up that claim. I agree that masterwork bags are much better to open on low levels, but most people never mention those and only mention champ bags, but I’ll edit it.
key farm is dead? but I was just there 2 days ago!

It’s not a big deal. I already had 9 slots (8 char + 1 for key farming) when the HoT Pre-order gave me 2 additional slots. So I have one empty slot to create a free level 50-55 character to open them, but for most player, you don’t receive enough of those to be worth it. But ya people make a big deal out of that for nothing since the vast majority of bags are worth opening on a low character anyway. (don’t receive that much masterwork bag of gear tbh).

Yup I know they Killed it with today’s patch a couple hours ago. You are now limited to one key per week. I’ll continue to do a key run, but 52 keys a year instead of my usual 300-400 a year will make a big hole in my budget ; ). I’ll need to switch to other source of income apparently.

That sound boring. It’s recycling the same idea over and over. Expansion will probably be around new Dragon, but I hope they will mix thing up a bit.

Sylvari are a relatively new race that emerged AFTER Elder Dragon start to show their influence. I doubt that another race will be revealed to be Dragon Minions.

What I hope is that they change the recipe with each new dragon. As we kill more Dragons, the remaining one should be more aware and use stronger attacks. Maybe tension will rise between them, igniting maybe a war between some of them. I want to see destruction from dragon. Kralkatorrik draw a huge line of corruption when he was kitten at Glint, he could do some huge damage to a large potion of the land. Primordius could make entire region collapse underground. That could create a civil war between faction with some people wanting to negociate with the Elder Dragon and betrayed the others like the Mursaat did.

I just hope they don’t just make 1 expansion = everybody go against the next Dragon in the next region.

  • Regarding if it’s better to open champ bags on a level 55 (and get more T4 mats) or a level 80 (and get more rare/exotics), they are too close to say one is better (source). However, I recommend doing the one you consume more materials from (if you use lots of platinum and linen, use 55. If you use lots of ecto, use 80). This will save you from selling what you don’t need and buying what you do, which saves the 15% tax.

The link is misleading. It’s true that exotic bags are equally good for level 80 or level 50-55.

But, that’s not the point. Bags that are worth opening on low level character are Bag of Gear (masterwork) and other green bags (for exemple when you Key farm R.I.P.).

Thief in PvE compared to other classes.

in Thief

Posted by: Thaddeus.4891

Thaddeus.4891

This is something that I’m actually wondering about. While the standard thief build didn’t allocate more stats, the thief didn’t walk away empty handed. With the loss of 5% from dagger training and 5% on dual skills came 1% per initiative with leading strikes. We’ve still got exposed weakness and executioner.

Of particular note is the new critical strikes line. Without it, my full zerker + scholar thief has 50% self fury uptime and 216% crit damage (effectively a 1.74 modifier off of a scaled 64% crit chance). But with critical strikes, I have full fury uptime with several other crit changes totaling to around 87% crit chance and 245% crit damage. This comes to a 2.26 modifier effectively being a 30% increase in damage overall. Also include Ferocious Strikes, which is 10% on crit above 50% health (which I’ve calculated as a 4.35% damage mod).

In total? 35.4% increase in damage from taking critical strikes. So really, I’d like to see where the numbers that say thieves are the same come from.

Well if you compare meta build now to the meta build before. Some of the lost i’ll calculate are still there, but the meta build use something else.

Lost
Dagger Training : 5% damage
Side Strike : 7% Crit chance
Flanking Strike : 5% damage
Sundering Strike : Vulnerability on crits
Improvisation : 10% damage on bundle (Icebow)
Opportunist : Crits give you initiative
First Strike : 10% damage while over 6 initiatives

Gain
Flanking Strike : Gain Haste
Leads Attack : 1% damage per initiative
Ferocious Strike : 10% Critical damage
Practiced Tolerance : 10% Precision into Ferocity
Flawless Strike : 7% Critical damage
No Quarter : +250 Ferocity

So basically, we lost a bunch of damage modifier (lost 3, gain 1) and a bit of precision, while gaining a bunch of buff to critical damage. I’m not sure the total increase in dps we got. But profession like Guardian, Engineer, Ranger and Warrior got buff by more, closing the gap a little. I’m not saying that Thief is bad now, or have bad dps. But it lost it’s statue of best single target in the game.

Thaddeus.4891

1) Yes and? Eviscerate is a powerful skill, but super easy to avoid. That doesn’t make our Backstab bad. Not that many skill does a 2.4 dmg Coefficient.

2) Again and? I almost never use 3-4 HS in a black powder. I usually only use one on the target, then backstab (the stealth come after the damage from HS). With Hidden Killer you should have all the stealth you need. 3-4 HS in a blinding field is one of your tool, use in at the right time (which should be rarely).

3) HS Heroes think like that and they are view as noobs (sorry). HS is half the distance than Shadow Shot. SS have better damage when the target is higher than 50% HP, it’s slight lower when the target is between 25-50% HP, but the blind is powerful with the right timing. You should only use HS as a gap closer when you have a Black Power or when the guy is at very low HP. Don’t spam SS. If you use is right, in combination with other gap closer, you should never run out of initiative. This will come with experience.

4) The Pistol 4 is probably the hardest skill to use at full potentiel. It’s not a powerful daze, but it’s a quick one. One of the faster daze in the game. This allow you to disable a lot of skills, mostly healing skill. It’s also powerful to confuse someone when they try to escape for example. Finally, it’s powerful against foes that are trying to rez. You can go through stability or just keep interrupting something with no stab. At higher level, rezzing and stomping is very important are hard to do.

Each skill have a specific use, learn when and how to use them efficiently. Yes our damage wasn’t buff as much as other profession in the core specialisation update, but keep that in mind. Most team in tournament use one thief. It’s not because of nostalgia.

Zerk Or Sinister Guardian

in Guardian

Posted by: Thaddeus.4891

Thaddeus.4891

In group situation, Bezerker is better against single target while Sinister have a better dps against group of mobs.

In solo situation, both are equal against single target (slight advantage for Bezerker), while Sinister is better against group of mobs.

The disadvantage of Sinister Guardian in PvE is that it need all 3 utilities to reach their normal DPS compare to only 1 for the Bezerker Guardian. So it leave you harder choice when your party need support. Taking a Wall of Reflection or Retreat will drop your dps a lot more on a Sinister than a Bezerker Guardian.

Bezerker is view as the better option in dungeon because, bosses (single target) are usually more important to kill fast than trash and Guardian usually bring support skill for the group.

A good starting point.

Engineer

For PvE you have two main build. Power and Sinister Grenadier. Sinister have higher dps, but can’t hurt structure and isn’t as good while using Elementalist Icebow.

For WvW roaming, take a look at sPvP build and adapt them. Soldier Rifle is pretty solid. For WvW Zerging on the other end, Engineer is average.

Ranger

For PvE there is three main build. The Sinister A/T have the highest DPS, while Bezerker S/A + Longbow is not far behind. There is also the S/A + GS Quick Draw build that have a little bit lower dps, but work fine. Longbow on Ranger is not good for PvE. In Open World it do the job, but for dungeon, you should only use it at the start of the fight and never switch back to it for the whole fight after that.

Power Survival build do that job in sPvP. The taunt on it is powerful. But for WvW zerg, the ranger is like the engineer average.

Not sure about that, but that statement is probably not that far from the truth. Thieves used to be number one, but only against single target, while ranger used to be 4th.

The specialisation update didn’t improve much the thief’s DPS, removing a lot of it’s damage modifier. On the other end, ranger now have a powerful condition build. Even if thief still have more dps than the ranger, the gap between them is certainly very close now. (Not sure about the actual numbers. Ranger could be on top, I’m not totally sure).

people keep saying blinds, but in most cases how often does a blind field stay on the ground before it’s over-written by a guardian / ele / etc?

Guardian blind is limited. It’s super efficient against trash mobs that die quickly, but try to blinds a big group of enemies at the Ascalon Fractal 50 and you’ll find that you group will get hit a couple of times before the first one die and you can keep the blind coming.

Elementalist have a long duration long cooldown blind. It’s powerful for big fight, but not that useful when you have some quick successive fight. Glyph of storm is also better in air for the vulnerability. Remember that Warrior don’t put as much vulnerability as they used to and Thief, Elementalist and Warrior all lost their 30% condition duration from traits (not sure about Ele). So it’s harder to get max vulnerability early in a fight without the glyph of storm in air.

On the other end, Thief have a decent balance with a 30sec CD blind field (half the CD of Glyph and 2 second duration less), while D/P allow you almost a perma blind field for short to medium duration fight.

In brief, Elementalist is better for big fight but otherwise it’s a waste of vulnerability. Guardian is only good against large quantity of trash, while Thief can fill almost all situation. Usually, the best is when they all work together to support each other and almost have the right tools for different situation.

The specialisation wasn’t kind to the thief tho. Where everybody was buffed a lot by the patch (Guardian when from 8-9k to 12-14k in dps), the thief didn’t move a lot in the DPS department. He lost a lot of damage modifier and wasn’t buff by the additional stats from gear (he already had 300 power, precision and ferocity from trait).

But even if it’s dps isn’t nearly as impressive as it used to be against single target, the thief still have a lot of support/utilities to bring to a team.

The main difference is that Dagger auto-attack now hit 2 targets, compare to the 3 targets for Sword. The difference isn’t high enough for most people to bother swapping weapons. S/P is still more dps than D/D against 3+ targets, but usually when you attack 3+ targets, they are relatively easy to kill that it’s not really that worth it to swap weapons.

Craft/buy a legendary - which one is faster?

in Players Helping Players

It depend greatly. Crafting it will be cheaper and usually when you farm gold to buy some material, you also get some material for your legendary. For exemple, both dungeon and Silverwast will give you gold, but also some Tier 6 and Ectos that you will need. Dungeon also give you token you need, etc.

The main difference is for things that you can’t buy when you craft your Legendary. Karma/Obsidian shards and map completion can take long to farm if you don’t already have them. It’s usually this that will make the difference in price for a Legendary.

I find it faster to craft it because over time I accumulated a lot of materials.

3 Ideas You'd Like to See in GW

Only three omg that’s hard.

1) Build Template saving. That quality of life feature would make me happy.

2) DPS meters that only you can see. So much misconception about DPS build, a dps meters would help a lot of people to figure out the DPS of their build. We usually know what’s the DPS of the top meta build, but most people don’t know what’s the dps of other build. It would also help people improve themselves. But it need to be personnal, if everybody can see the dps of everybody, it just create QQ and bad behavior.

3) More Guild content. There is almost nothing to do in guild. Guild Mission are hold and most people don’t need commendation anymore. Otherwise most content is for small group and more than anything doing stuff in guild isn’t rewarding or easy to do. As an officer of a guild with 500 people (please make that limit higher), it’s hard to come up with new guild activities to do and keep the guild feel more alive.

Contrast that to GW2 and you quickly realize – GW2 doesn’t have a Trinity, no, it simply has the Damage Role.

In GW2 you stack on Boss, do as much damage as possible while dodging his/her/it’s big attacks and healing yourself if you get hit. What your teammates do is inconsequential.

Weird. On my thief I’m busy blind foes and removing defiant stack, while I’m stealth between specific fight.

On my Guardian I keep up Reflection, remove condition and time my blind and aegis

On my Elementalist I nuke mobs out with big AoE attack.

My three main PvE character feel a lot different and I need to play differently when we don’t have blind, Icebow or Reflect. We all do DPS, but each of them have something else to do that is often crucial to the survival and efficiency of the team.

The game reward isn’t base around loots, bug gold. You rarely loots what you want, you get gold and a bunch of loots that you can sell for a profit. That way everybody only need to grind enough gold to get exactly what they want and don’t need to grind until they get the loot they want. I personally, far prefer the GW2 system. Several places allow you a higher amount of Gold per hours in the game, and these place are highly rewarding.

GW2 Reward system still have some issue. There is a complete lack of a good time vs difficulty vs reward ratio. A place like SW is super easy, but yield more reward than pug dungeon, while Fractal have an even lesser rewards. There is also a lot of place where the reward is just lacking that nobody really take the time to complete that content. The best example is dynamic event. Outside of world boss and some specific events, most of them yield almost no rewards. And lastly, some content only provide specific content and once you get those specific reward that content isn’t worth doing anymore. The best exemple is dry top. After you get the ambrite weapons and mawdrey there isn’t really any reason to stay at Dry Top even if it’s a nice map.

It just make no sense to value the reward system of GW2 on loots.

Crafting useful at all?

Jewellery crafting is universally useful for any class as everyone make use of trinkets. Currently, the craft is limited to exotic quality items but will advance to Ascended after the expansion.

Please show me source on the bolded part no were have I read that jewelery will get bumped to 500, always made me kinda bumed it wasent already upgraded since my first char was jewelery/huntsman

Not only that, but Jewellery is pretty useless to everybody. Ascended trinkets are so easy to get, there is no reason to waste gold to get exotic trinkets. Worst case scenario you don’t have a guild can ascended accessories are expansive, but for 2 accessories you are better off with buying exotic version on the TP. The back item can’t be craft by jewellery so ya. Jewellery is one of the worst crafting profession. There is 4 reasons to get Jewellery. Level up an alt (it’s the second less expansive with Artificer to 400), craft some dungeon recipe (you need to drop them first), complete the achivement or for legendary crafting.

Ok, I’ll try to get better at the game. I’m probably too casual and have no place to talk on this forum.

I understand why everyone laugh at me, seeing how many of the people on the forums are really pro, and they have youtube videos to back them up.

I learned a valuable lesson and will try to take people’s advice and get better at the game.

Don’t worry. I do the same thing. I usually make sure I bring what’s important to a dungeon to make sure it goes well. I don’t play the same way when I pug than when I play with my friends.

Pulling Mossman underwater. Ban or not?

If anet had a stong exploit enforcement policy then ya. If each time a exploit is becoming important they fix it and ban everybody using then people would not feel comfortable doing them. But let’s be honest. Anet dropped the ball regarding that and if they start using the ban hammer now, they would look stupid. We don’t really know what’s an exploit and what isn’t. They never fix them or only after several months/years. They never announce what they consider an bannable exploit or not and they never ban someone for those things. After a couple of month of complete lack of news from Anet about an ’’exploit’’ of course it’s gonna spread and everybody will start doing it.

I hope they do a better job with raids because they will be exploits in there. They need to post a list of everything they consider an bannable exploit while they trying to fix it. That way players won’t want to try new exploit and they won’t become the norm.

Mordrem Invasion Update: 11 September 12:30 PM

Constructive Feedback – I qqed in other treads ; )

- The quality of the encounters themselves (meaning the fights) ain’t that interesting, but it’s not that bad either for a limited time event.

- There is no progression like with Silverwaste, Marionette, Scarlet Invasion and plenty of other example. There is no change in pace or kind throughout the event, no climatic battle at the end. This is one of the main reason most people find it boring. It’s just the same 3-4 types of events randomly distributed around the map.

- There is no sense of victory. Link to my previous point. You can’t win or lose the meta event. You do the more events as possible to get as much reward as possible. You can’t lose an individual event and there is no way to lose at the meta event, which is pretty non existent. How players are suppose to care about this if there is no sense of victory? In the end it’s just a grind that feel like a grind.

- There is no exit point. Either you do the full 30min or you have nothing. Of course the reward to participate from start to end should be superior, but this even is clearly suppose to be a casual one and it should allow you to gain part of the rewards along the way so that someone that need to go AFK for IRL reason don’t get nothing.

- The Stack system is a very poor system that push people to leech the event instead of working together. Leecher and AFK people will always exist, but there is a problem when your reward system incentive people to leech.

- Rewards is lacking. I won’t get over that one again because plenty of people made that clear. The fact that individual event don’t give us reward like xp, karma, etc and the fact that except for daily map, the number of blooms is really low.

This does not make sense, if one is more of a gold sink then the other then sure you can recommend something for a new player beyond just cooking and that is exactly what I am asking here.

It make sense. They pretty much cost all the same amount. Some cost a little bit less, but not that much and that not what’s important. What’s important is what do you want do to.

If you want to make a legendary, you gonna need specific crafting to 400 depending on which legendary. So for me it could be Weaponsmith and for your it would be Huntsman for exemple.

If you want to craft ascended armor/weapons you will need specific crafting. If you are a staff Ele you want Tailor and Artificer, but if you are a Greatsword Guardian you gonna need Armorsmith and Weaponsmith. You can reach 500 in those crafting and craft your armor, or you can just accumulate ascended boxes and only reach 400 in those crafting so you can change the stats of the ascended stuff you get in the boxes.

It really depend on what YOU want to do. But when you are a new player, you don’t really know. You may change profession, maybe you gonna drop an item that will push you toward a crafting profession, maybe you gonna like something that need you to have a specific crafting profession, etc. That’s why you should wait until you figure out what is best for you.

Trying to figure it out now will probably push you toward completing something that might not be that useful to you.

What happened to the 'no grind' philosophy?

The argument for GW2 is not grindy because everything is optional is getting old, seriously.

In game like WoW, Rift, etc like you guys mentioned. End game is defined, which is Raid. Yes it’s grindy.

GW2 has lack of definition when it comes to end game.
If one see Legendaries as endgame, yes it’s grindy as hell too.
Fashion wise, skins need golds, need tokens, grindy too.
Achievement Points hunters, yes grindy.
If you don’t aim for anything in GW2, of course it’s not grindy. So does for ppl who play Wow, level up max and call it.

The excuse for it being optional just doesn’t cut it. GW2 is grindy, it’s mmorpg, if you really wanted to achieve anything in the game.

The difference between grind for something I need and something I want is HUGE. The thing is that a lot of people like to grind for a new tier of gear to get into new raids and it’s ok. But other people like other stuff and GW2 give them that (at least try to).

^^^^

Case and point. Sorry I killed all your children.

Played WoW, LOTRO, SWTOR, SWG, RIFT, and TERA.

GW2 is significantly more grindy than all of them.

queue people telling me that doing a 2 hour raid once a week is somehow more grindy than collecting 20,000 dungeon tokens to unlock a single set of weapons. lol

True. But the two big difference is

1) The grind is optional. I can do all content without a grind. Some can argue about fractal 50, but even there is situation is debatable and I don’t even consider it a grind now since it’s so easy to get a ascended chest and to convert it to the right stats. I grind if I want, If I don’t want? I can do something else. Other game require you to grind in order to gain access to new content. There is mastery that could be view as a non optional grind since you need it to complete the raids, but you gain xp from pretty much everything you can do in the game except the current Invasion ; ), so you can do about anything to unlock it.

2) Your stuff don’t get obsolete. I grinded for my ascended armor (kind of) and it will be the best armor in the game stats wise for ever. Over time I can have more and more armor for different characters and over the years I can go for other things. I don’t need to grind for a new armor that will make my old armor obsolete. What I grinded in GW2 stay revelant over the years, update and expansions.

Yes GW2 is really really grindy. But it’s done in such a way that it fit me way better than any of those other games.

This is the worst PVE event ever for GW2

The 30+ target for extra rewards is impossible to hit in that timegap.

20 stacks give you the maximum rewards and you can do it without leeching much, even if you do have to leech a little if you know what you are doing.

Without leeching much? Dafq are u talking about? I just did an event with 21 (in the very last 5 seconds). You know what it took to do that? I LITERALLY leeched EVERY event possible. I went in…killed 3-4 mobs..went to the next…and so on. That’s it, and i BARELY made it.

Is this honestly the kind of mentality you want to see being promoted in your favorite mmo? Constant leeching?

No, it’s a terrible design that should never be in the game and shouldn’t be in the game in the future.

But there is a difference between needed +30 stacks and leeching everything.

Or

Needed 20 stack so I leech 15 events and then do between 5 and 7 events completely.

It’s bad, but less bad that you said. And It can be even better. If you have a group of less than 10 people that know what they are doing, you can complete near the 20 events legit, but that hard. Event overscale with a lot of people. With a small group it can be super fast. The 3 catapults almost never die, the booms go quicly and you can burst the vine with a shield in one shot. This way, events go SUPER fast.

Cooking does not appeal to me at all, so since you have to buy the mats for tailor I am guessing that is not recommended any suggestions?

We can’t recommend anything. It depend on what you want to do. My suggestion would be to wait. At some point you gonna need something that require crafting and you will know what to do.

Way too little blooms (even after fix patch)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

You get more than that with dailies, because you get the 20 bloom bonus for the first time on every of the 3 maps. So you get 60 blooms for dailies alone, if you only get the additional 5 blooms you get exactly 225 blooms over 3 days only doing dailies. You had 5 days (i missed the first day because the notification came in late >.<), so actually you shouldn’T have to grind that much extra IF you only need 450. I “only” need 450 because i want the toxic skin pieces and nothing else.

Lol you make no sense. You are saying ‘’you get more than that with dailies’’, but then you are saying that you get less than I was saying.

Last time I checked 20 (daily) + 15 (stack) = 35. So you get 35 by maps during the daily. If you do only the daily during 3 days it give you 315 Blooms. 225 is the amout you get if you do 5 stack only on each map for 3 days. I would still need 46 runs to get all the rewards I want and I won’t be doing that.

If you only want 450, then it’s easy. You do the daily for 4 days and then you only need 2 additonal maps.
