Stronghold is a dps race map. Use classes and builds that have the highest mobility, dps and cc. The best defense is a good offense. Forget everything else like support. Thief with pistol off hand is pretty op.

'Content you normally see in an expansion'?

This game is not prepared for the future with this amount of content (for example no real endgame in GW2 and the lack of challenge). For example Archeage patch 1.7 gives atleast the amount of content maybe even more than Anet has added to this whole game over these 2 years. (I am comparing GW2 to AA because GW2 is a little over 2 years old and AA is nearly 2 years old.)

“But hey at least we got living story and these new quaggan tonics” while NCsoft spends money from GW2 to Aion content, Lineage content, Wildstar (<- housing was canceled from GW2 and Wildstar got the housing system for example).

The main goal of NCsoft was to make GW2 The Fastest Selling MMO not The Best MMO. It’s either that or Anet devs are seriously lost and have no idea what to do with this game. By now it’s starting to be a BIT late if this is the case.

If i am wrong with any of these things, please let me know. but Anet you need to consider something, listening or not. i’m not going to lie, your sales are down. you think the gem store is going to help? no, you need to listen to people for them to even consider to want to buy stuff from you.

As long as the game makes profit it will stay up. Gemstore is enough to keep this game alive even now and in the future. People will keep paying. Things in this game will only change when the amount of money they get is not enough. After not making enough money NCsoft will propably shut this game down. As sad as it is this game is not prepared for the future with this amount of content (for example no real endgame in GW2 and the lack of challenge). Well after over 2 years the lack of content is devastating. I have played over 3700 hours and over 70% of that time in pure money grinding cause it’s apparently the “endgame” in this game. Sure we can “make” dungeons more difficult by removing armors but that’s not how endgame suppose to be.

After exotic gear and weapons this game turned out to be super easy and simple with easy content. No real strategies are used in pve content. Targeted audience is people who have families and no time to really play games and also people who are playing games/mmo’s for the first time.

If you compare gw2 for example almost 2 years old game archeage the difference in content is huge and this new 1.7 patch to archeage in korea added more content than gw2 has produced during these 2 years and it’s not like NCsoft doesn’t have enough money to put on gw2. It seems like the fastest selling mmo was the thing they wanted in order to get more money.

Do you really think that this fractal will be amazing? Developers have all the textures and items they want to put in that fractal already and that fractal is easy to design because of that. We are getting the same garbage that we have already. This time there is just story behind that garbage. That thing which changed the world permanently comes straight from half life and that asura lab has copied the idea from that game. That’s why they said it changed the world cause it fits the story. The world didn’t really change or are you seeing some changes right now like some corruption or something other than risen, no you aren’t cause there were really no events that changed the world. It is just because of half life story. :/

Final boss of that fractal will propably be some inguest commander or something like we saw in aetherblade dungeon (instead of abyssal god, bigger than zhaitan).

You voted for kiel just because you wanted to have something fresh? ? ? We have like 9001 inguest laboratories in tyria. How is that new and fresh? ? ?

I am just disapointed how ppl think that story is better than gameplay.

I would like to see gw1 pre lore thing and gods fighting against abaddon more than somekind of explosion (puff ) in somekind of asuran (female artist character fan boy/girl flowers and pony running happily creature with cute ears thingy nonsense garbage) laboratory in somekind of low level area. Also we have gotten this kind of content already. Gods fighting abaddon in desolation area in mouth of torment sounds more cool than that asura trying create pre alpha creature (we have CoE already but we don’t have any gods).

If you listen npc talks in Zephyr Sanctum you notice that some of them speak about Kralkatorrik. Also these pictures of desert area may suggest that the Crystal Desert is really coming.

I am not complaining about rewards. Everything in this game is way too easy.

If COF 1 is faster, better, easier and more rewarding why not just run COF 1?

i never said it was better, i prefer more challenging content which is why i prefer EB to COF 1 but you still haven’t responded to the question of why anything should reward anything?

given your main argument seems to be if you enjoy the content you shouldn’t need rewards to repeat it multiple times, that surely applies to all content, and yet we have rewards…

If you want rewards from jumping puzzles then why won’t you just jump those other jps?

I do, i also like this one which is harder than many of the others, why should this not reward me also? this is like saying if you want rewards from dungeons you should just do some other dungeons and dungeon X should have no rewards.

Nice loot is extra and that keeps players repeating the content but personally for me the best part of doing something is not the loot and if you think about other games than mmorpgs you notice that they don’t reward you either and ppl still play those games.

“Surely you want MORE characters jumping through it.” No. I am perfectly fine if there is just 1-3 enemies in this puzzle. They are much easier to kill when there is less ppl in jp.

“Dungeon X should have no rewards.” Some ppl farmed that chest where they could get precursors, badges and sieges. When ppl abused the reward system it changed. The loot was too good for that chest so they nerfed it and they nerfed it in anet way.

I don’t often run it daily, many times (the fact that I just noticed the nerf now, should tell you this). However when I want to, I shouldn’t be facing this nerf. It doesn’t matter if you’re hungry, if there’s no carrot at the end of the string why would you bother? It’s fun to open a chest.

So, in fact yes. I do have a reason to complain.

Some ppl aren’t like you and they farmed that chest where they could get precursors with many 80 lvls and got badges and sieges too. When ppl abuse reward system like this it changes and we have to deal with that.

You can still get as much siege in the BL with alts. It’s also just as easy to Mesmer bypass as EB is.

I think that you are just kitten ed off cause ppl camp at the end of eb jp and you can’t get that end chest.

Also, on a side note….money isn’t a problem for me. I’ve already got a legendary, and just about every item I want. I enjoy jumping puzzles. I especially liked the EB one.

If that’s the case, why would I be wanting to run the EB JP multiple times? If what you say is true, why would I need or want to run it multiple times in a day. You make zero sense with this comment. I’m just curious how on earth you came to that thought.

Why are you even running that puzzle many times per day? You don’t need anything since you got your legendary and everything you wanted and money is not a problem for you. If you enjoy running that puzzle many times per day then do it. You don’t even need the end reward cause you already have everything you wanted. You have no reason to complain.

Why should eb jps be once per day per char when mesmer can port your lvl80 char and you can complete jps in short time? If you really like to JUMP those puzzles you wouldn’t be here complaining about rewards.

Enjoying running puzzles multiple times with lvl 1 characters? Sure you can still run those puzzles over and over again. Maybe jumping puzzles was never meant to be farmed over and over again. Easy money nerfed. You don’t have to know how to play the game and still get reward from the chest. Run dungeons or something if you want to get money.

A level 1 wouldn’t get you any money to speak of. The loot (both number badges and low level of gear), is scaled down. You couldn’t farm that chest and make decent money.

All jumping puzzles are per character per day. There is no reason for the EB chest to be any different.

As stated above, the loot is scaled to your character level. Just as it is in the BL puzzles. There is no reason that the EB puzzle should be limited to one character per account.

Maybe they changed it cause ppl with many 80 lvls got more rewards than ppl with 1 or 2 80 lvls. Eb chests have highest rewards and too little effort really.

You already got your legendary and every item you wanted. Money is not a problem for you so why do you even need rewards from eb jps?

I think that those noises are hilarious and I enjoy listening them. I think that it’s just funny. People here don’t have sense of humour. You are not playing this game right if those noises annoys you. Go outside, meet people and when you come back maybe those noises are funny again. This is how this game works. A lot of people will start to like the game the
Because of a nifty thing called dynamic events. For the most part it will be the same sure but there will always be that one event you missed the other 100 times (and you didn’t travel the whole world a 100 times, the same few favorite zones sure but everywhere? I find it hard to believe. Case in point you said the same journey twice cause you have to visit the same effigy twice but thats only true if you do it mechanically traveling the same most efficient straight line. If you allow yourself to be distracted it will not be the same exact journey twice. You can have many unique journeys between any two effigies if you wish.

Dont like the effigies? skip them what will you if you do ? 10% health buff is the only thing you’ll be missing out. This month update allows you to:

1. Play the dragon ball mini game which personally I find very fun
2. Try to acquire one of the nifty skins doing more or less whatever you enjoy. You can Do DE, Story line missions, Hunt holograms, just kill everything on your way to the effigies, join zergs, farm mobs whatever.
3. Try to get more achievement points to improve your standing on the leader boards
4. Engage in the storyline of the event in LA
5. collect all the new minis
6. Get the 2 wings
7. get the extra rewards (Marjory’s Journal and the Dragon helm)
8. Ignore any activity what so ever and enjoy the change in decoration while doing whatever you feel like doing

Are you really going to claim there is a lack of content?

Should everything addition to the game be kill this and kill that? Or should they just send over skins via mail each month and not bother releasing any content at all?

You like combat ? You have the skins you can get by farming coffers from any mob
You like exploring around ? just go around visit the effigies
You like PvP? Dragon ball

We can do that but instead of this boring “fun” we could explore new areas, encounter new foes, fight against new world bosses, have epic guild raids, explore many different dungeons, get a new race, fight new elder dragons, fight new dragon champions, have interesting story… I can’t believe how blind you are when you are not seeing this. Think about this for a while. Would you like to visit all those old areas over and over again and doing exactly same things (less content same concept) you were doing on halloween and wintersday or would you like to do all that above instead?

They are not going to expand for a while so this dragon bash kind of events are the only events that we are going to get in the future.

Of course they’ll open the Crystal Desert at some point.

The story will be completable in about an hour. There will be a single pvp-like instance that rewards containers of some sort. They will also drop off mobs. In the containers will be consumables mostly. Maybe one jumping puzzle will be included. There will also be achievements that require you to mash your interact key a hundred times or so on various things. Completing them all will give you a back item.

Along with offering new, exciting items in the Mystical Crystal Coffers….available now in the gem store! These coffers will have a few new mini pets, along with a rare chance to contain a Sandstorm Weapon Ticket!

These updates can practically write themselves at this point.

This is a great example how they are going to use this automatic system with other updates in the future with new and old areas.

Actually I have been playing since the 3day head start, thank you. And besides a break I took during the F&F event, I’ve been “casually” playing since Aug (only 900-1000 hours logged). Do I want new skills, more perm content, etc., yes. Do I want new content that is “challenging and fun to play” yes, but this is a holiday event, it should be treated as such. “Fun” casual content assessable to anyone at their own pace. Besides the game has been out of less than a year, and while my memory is too fuzzy to remember gw1’s first year of events. Things only got better with time. If 60-70% (or even just 30%) of the development time went into the reskin of LA, then next year that time can be put into more events.

Personally, I still find the game fun after 10 months, I wouldn’t still be playing it otherwise. I spent $150 on this game, and I feel I got my money’s worth and then-some. Any extra content since launch has just been icing on the cake for me. Whenever an expansion comes out, I’ll pick that up to, but I don’t demand hours of new content for free (though I won’t complain if that comes). I don’t find dungeons that fun, so I usually ignore them, if you find them fun then good. So if you want to yell at me for still enjoying a game how I want then go ahead. But to say a holiday isn’t fun just because you have to do something repetitive in a 1 hour block instead of over the remainder of the event isn’t really that fair.

Okay. The problem here is that this “fun” event isn’t that fun. Achievements are pain. SOLO (this game is MASSIVELY !MULTIPLAYER! online rpg) story instance was max 5 min long and you didn’t have to really do anything and the next update which probably includes max 5 min SOLO (again this game is MASSIVELY !MULTIPLAYER! online rpg) story instance where you don’t really have to do anything comes next day. It feels like that Anet is making this game “fun to play” for those who have just started playing so that they can get more money. I know that GW2 is 10 months old but if anet wants GW2 to be best mmorpg game ever… this is not the way. This game should have already be better than other mmo games and include good mmo features used in those other games. You said that dungeons are not so fun and that is the point. Fun is happening when you level up your character. After that there is nothing for lvl 80 except wvw or spvp or dungeon grinding which is not fun anymore after 10 months(no challenge at all) or then visit old areas over and over again(boring).

I know that this is holiday event but so was the halloween and the wintersday. If you try to remember what kind of achievements or events were back then I am sure that you realize what is happening. GW2 atm runs automatically and new content just repeats the old pattern with different skins. Anet is a big company and they could do so much more. (Does anet have all those programmers who couldn’t get a job from elsewhere?) This dragon bash content here can be done with roughly 2 programmers in about 2-3 weeks.

I don’t know what the rest of the GW2 team is doing other than celebrating this dull content like this is something different and new. They just celebrate and ignore forums and those good ideas that players are having to make this game better.

I don’t actually even know what we celebrate. We haven’t bashed any dragons and if you count zhaitan… “Zhaitan will be extremely hard and you encounter him in a dungeon” What? Where is that extremely hard zhaitan? This dragon bash should be an event where we gather an army and then attack the dragons. After that the bash celebration should start.

Idk if anet is just partying but right now it feels like that anet isn’t doing really anything. Every skin is fan designed and even content like super mega “fun” box is a fan creation. Without those…idk.

There is no signs of that game they promised us and they aren’t answering these forums posts because they know that this game isn’t the game they promised. Sadly, they are not doing really anything about it.

To be fair, unless I missed it. You have until July 9 when the Dragon Bash Festival ends to do 50. That’s three weeks, or 2.4 effigies a day, sure not everyone can play every day, but it doesn’t seem that unreasonable when you look at how long you have to do it.

Yeah it’s fair since there is so much more to do in this game like grind dungeons and… nothing in pve.

I still have yet to do all of the dungeon exp paths, and those I have done, I’ve done once or twice. I mostly go world boss hunting or run around my favorite areas, the starting and ending norn areas (wayfair foothills? and frostgorge sound) or do a level of fractals. Play the game how you find it fun.

People were complaining that they had to do 50, when the content has been out for 2-5 hours? When we have 3 weeks to do it. That was my point. When they grind it out within the first day there is nothing left for the remaining 3 weeks except to go back to as you call it “grind dungeons and… nothing in pve.”

You use your own perspective on this. You are not all the others who have played this game for a long time and hope to get new content that would actually be challenging and fun to play. Nobody doesn’t care if YOU haven’t done all the content you could have done during these 10 months with only permanent content being fractals. Most of the players now just grind dungeons or akitten LA.

Hey c’mon! Think about it! 3 weeks dancing around effigies? WHAT ARE YOU THINKING! Does players really want to dance 3 weeks around the effigies? Right now there is no way for most of the players to play this game how they find it fun because there is some guys like YOU who tells how great this game can be without any new actual content. Play this game like you have played it running around foothills and frostgorge for about 10 months and then try to say that it’s FUN!

You do realize that you’re not required to complete the new achievements, nor are you required to purchase anything from the Gem Store… right? They’re all optional.

Yes. These new achievements are optional but the fact is that these are the only new content we get. There is no challenge or fun in these updates. I know that some people wait these updates and hope that we get real new content instead of “fun” f spam. There should be more content which contains dragons, events, areas, dungeons etc. and then they should add these “fun(lasts max 3 days)” optional achievement minigames.

Currently the game is running with optional content and you can’t deny that.

Gems rewarded to winning server?

Please DO NOT reward “winning” servers disproportionately until populations are more balanced.

It will only further incentivize “stacking” and bandwagoning, it’s an extremely bad idea.

Furthermore, this is likely only going to breed further resentment from the smaller population servers, as coverage is not something they can control.

If you remove control from the players – they quit.

Actually this might balance servers more when people from “hard” fights transfers to “easier”.

If your play style is to play in low server and you can’t win in WvW it’s you own choice to play the game that way.

Gems rewarded to winning server?

We would like to have a system that rewards servers at the end of a matchup based on their performance and are working out all we’ll need to do to make that happen. Ideally it will give extra rewards for winning while still rewarding everyone for participating. All that being said, it’s hard to know what form the final version will take. Hopefully we’ll have something to get everyone excited to fight for victory.

I think that the problem here is that everyone gets reward of some kind. That doesn’t motivate enough players to try cause they still get rewarded even when they lose. That you still kind of win even if you lose system doesn’t work imo. The rewards should go to the winning server only so that it would make players really trying to win, but if you fear that players would quit WvW because there is no reward to others than the winning server(unlikely because WvW = mainly endgame content), make that reward system properly and make it like endgame rewards should be.

WvW with TPvP is basically the only challenging endgame content in gw2 atm and i am pretty sure that you know it.

I suggest that you should give that basic reward of karma, exp, money and 1-2 rare per account to all servers and the winning server could get +1-2 exotics (precursor chance) +gems per account. Reward which contains karma, money, exp, 1-2 rare, 1-2 exotic and gems should be enough to motivate players to win and keep playing WvW without the “win or lose to win” system.

The rewarding system could work like weekly achievements (where the final achievement triggers based on winning or losing and after that you get a reward chest) with some requirements so that those players who haven’t played WvW can’t get the reward for free.

However this reward system can’t happen before skill lag is solved as it should have been long time ago. Skill lag breaks the game and I am not happy at all that you can’t help that skill lag issue at all(seriously you need a much bigger WvW servers).
