What i am suggesting is that instead of double tap they could add weapon swap to swap between main hand and offhand attunement and make it so that the first weapon swap after attunement swap doesn’t have cooldown.

I really like your “weapon swap” concept. I think that would be a nice utility skill.

However, I am not a fan of making Unravel baseline, because I feel Weaver should feel different from elementalist.

Dual attacks are fine on sword.

The idea of unravel being a button that disable dual attacks (maybe outside of combat you could make the decision to use or ignore dual attacks) is to buff core weapons since all the dual attacks are worse than the normal skills. The dual mechanic for core weapons however is fine.

Elemental swapping already exists. See my post on attunement management. Unless you’re talking about using the weapon swap cooldown for it, separate from the attunement cooldown. Which…could be cool.

What i mean with that change is that anet would enable the option to change between your main hand and offhand attunement so that when i have fire main and air offhand it would swap it to air main hand and fire offhand without cooldown the first time you swap to different attunements.

(for example i am getting pressured and i want to get focus skill 5 so i swap to earth and then weapon swap to swap the main hand and offhand attunements and get focus 5.)

Attunement swapping exists yeah but the weapon swap change would make the system significantly easier to use with the dual swap.

Atm, it can be really confusing and hard in combat to memorize all the rotations and swaps.

After playing the weaver for quite some time i noticed it’s actually not that bad as i thought at first when i saw the low damage and survivability but after learning how to use the skills and getting the rotation right it turns out to be quite fun to play. That being said i also noticed it could flow a bit better since this current system feels a bit clunky and slow.

Unravel: This could be implemented as an f5 upkeep skill that can turn your dual attacks on or off when you use it to make other weapons than sword useful.
Currently, dual attack skills on every other weapon are worse than the original except for the sword.

Edit. This option could also be a choice outside of combat to enable and disable dual attacks.

Weapon swap: Switch main hand and offhand attunements. First swap without attunement cd between your current attunement to help to get the access to defensive offhand skills and swaps after that with cd. (fire/air to air/fire for example).

Sword: Damage has to scale a bit better with power. Currently, the skills are kinda low damage compared to other classes.

These changes (especially the swap) would also help the new weaver players to get used to the class since it’s really confusing at first.

AT monetary rewards... severely lacking

The OP is Katsumi and only wants the rewards to increase because he knows he’s going to win every single one. The whole motivation argument of his is just a cover, people who care about PvP will play ATs every day for fun, more rewards aren’t needed. Not that I personally care because I uninstalled the game today, but the Abjured doesn’t really deserve more from the community or Anet because the only players on that team that are actually decent people are Nos and Zero.

Winning all the time in a video game sure makes the losers in it salty!

This is toker’s 3rd account in top 10 and he’s saying this for the same reason Katsumi is, because he knows he’ll win every single one. Yes I was salty a couple days ago but I don’t care anymore because I uninstalled. I just want people to know who the OP and you are so perhaps they can develop a different opinion since you two are such valuable and helpful players in the community.

Imagine the amount of cry if raids gave you 5g as a reward because that’s only elite content for the top 1% of pve players who can play this game.

The point is that there should be rewards that would make ordinary players want to make a team and get better. If 5g is the only reward then no one is gonna be interested in tourneys. The only “good” reward would be monthly but unless there is a carrot that can make players want to improve and get better then the “good” rewards will always be given to the same teams.

If there aren’t really great rewards from doing tourneys then who is gonna play them?

Better rewards from daily/monthly point isn’t to make top pvp players be rich. Making the pvp scene grow is the point here.

PvP has gotten in a point where everyone in NA thinks that the best players are cheating because the pvp playerbase has changed and players play the game like the game had just been launched.

I recently watched a unity NA tournament where one of the teams literally had 1 afk on close the whole match and when the match was almost over they did random 5 man zerg to far point and lost the game. If this is the skill level in NA then I am not wondering why ppl accuse better players of “cheating”.

So about that…money from esports where purely from marketing budget, not from developers pockets or any resources tied with game development. All money was from marketing budget.

Truth is that this anet has already money to put effort in any part of the game. Esport money pool is laughable for company big as Anet.

So now there is no esports so I guess we will see more gw 2 banners and adds around internet.

Besides as already certain somebody pointed out – there wasn’t any esport event in half an year…did you noticed any of good quality content in gw 2?

Why? Well, the answer is simple: better balance.

Overwatch realized this as well as other games. Now when the que time is way better it really should be time to remove stacking. For ppl who want to participate to tournies it’s stupid to have a game that doesn’t reflect the real tournie games at all. Also it’s frustrating when playing ranked.

It’s fine to have class stacking in unranked because there is no rank but stacking classes really affect the end result of a ranked games if you happen to get a bad or a good stack. Putting every team as close to the opposing team team comp wise would also make the ranking more accurate for everyone.

I am seeing a lot of mesmers on top 5 in EU so i was wondering if we could have some data about classes in solo/duo pvp.

If anet is gonna continue this model it has to be balanced properly. There can’t be classes that carry hard and other classes who basically can’t carry if the other members of the team are not that good.

Does this soloq/duoq only ranked mean that anet finally gave up on esports and decided to just hand out money for existing pro league players?

If they’d want to grow up the scene they just have to add in-game pro league qualifier system like we had in gw1.

I am not saying that the gw1 system is perfect and it might need some changes but at least it would make the scene grow maybe instead of soloq/duoq only.

Season 4 Ranked Matchmaking Change

First, the current season is trying for even matches. That is a much more accurate measure of skill than previous seasons. In season 2 and 3 matches were created with one side intended to win.

So, your idea that rewards and titles this season are “not based on skill” is precisely backward. The truth is that this season is far more “skill based” than previous seasons.

As to the idea of no rewards for ranked play. That cuts to the heart of the issue. The “shiny” ( Legendary Backpack ) was put out with two opposing goals; To reward high level players and to attract new players to pvp.

If you want to attract players, you need obtainable rewards. If you want exclusivity, the rewards need to be denied to the majority. ANET attempted to do both. That didn’t go well.

The simple reality is that there are not enough “hard core” players to make pvp work, let alone “Esports.”

So, the most effective solution would be to nurture the incoming pve players. To stomp them into the ground and denigrate them is self destructive to pvp.

No. What you don’t understand is that this season has layers where players play. This season 1 carbage matchmaking system has 0 indication of player personal skill on division ranking. The badge after your name has no value in this matchmaking system and let me explain why.

Season 1 uses the 50/50 w/l system where it tries to balance games so that the teams are equal. Okay that’s fine on it’s own but players aren’t in the same league division queue. Lower ranked division players might never cross high ranked division players which causes completely terrible players to reach legend.

Let’s put this so that it can be understood better.

Let’s say that we have a players with hidden mmr of 1 while 100 being the best player/players in the world.

1 player with mmr of 20 starts playing the league and the same player with other
account starts playing the league with 60 mmr.

What is gonna happen?

The account with 60 mmr has considerably harder matches than the account with mmr 20 because the team balance has been made with that mmr 20 instead of the real mmr of 60. (This point on it’s own shows how this division system measures actual player skill with 0 real indication when we take new players and players who haven’t really played pvp before compared with the system no putting players in the same division queue.) This causes this player to reach legend way earlier with that bad account. So basically this season 1 system favors bad/casuals more than good players and the quality of matches is very very poor in the end for the whole community as a whole.

The worst of all with this system is that when eventually the account with mmr 60 reaches legend the mmr 20 account has mmr close enought to that other account and they play in the same que. This system alone causes players to be bad and think that they are good and it leads to toxicity because the system indicates that you are good but it has no value in reality. There is a significant difference between mmr 20 and mmr 60.

The system will think that these players are equal on skill because it is programmed to do so but it fails because of the que being separated to multiple layers causing the system to have 0 indication of the real personal player skill.

Personally I don’t really care against who I am playing. I only care about these things:

1- Build variety (worse than ever, was better with the old trait system)
2- Class balance (was at its best at the end of 2014, now at its worse)
3- Synergy of Skills with traits between classes: For example the elementalist is just not fun anymore to play in comparison to how it was before
4- Reduction of the power creep introduced by the implementation of the new trait system
5- Reduction in available blocks on heavy class and CCs overall
6- Condi cap and old Stability should be brought back (was a bad decision to change them)
7- Removal of class stacking (been waiting for years)

I agree on all of those but since we have tried to speak sense for so long without any progression we might as well give up. Nothing is gonna change and if it does it’s too little too late. Gemstore is still doing fine as far as i know and it’s the only thing that matters since that’s where the money comes.

I am trying to play pvp but i just can’t. Wait times are too long 5-10mins and almost all the matches i play end up 100-500 for my team. I have like 10% fun when i play and other 90% is just boring and waiting. Ranked has 0 competitive aspects as it is now and the first stage of competitive thing in this game is basically pro league that has too high skill cap for most of the players. Want ranked to success, make it valuable and make it so that players can actually qualify with the ranked system. Ranked matches atm are just random matches between players with 0 value. There is nothing to achieve in this current pvp system except useless pve wings that aren’t even that pretty and are actually quite ugly tbh (also the wings bug with shields [ great design once again #0Fails ]). #MakeRankedCompetitive

Yeah I made a post about it earlier and it was deleted by moderator asking me to use in-game report system which i did use with at least 50 other ppl and this player is still in the queue. There is no way to contact moderator or support team and inform them about this issue.

I guess our only choice is to let him teleport hack and maybe he gets banned after 2 years or something when that team may or may not be able to find this players report.

MMR thought of imbalance Anet READ

Now we all know that Anet has made it so that all the higher MMR gets put together and all the lower MMR gets put together so that the Higher MMR can get out of the Tier they are in faster.

Ive just thought of something that Anet might not have considered.

So when all the ‘better’ players are up in the higher tiers and only the dregs of MMR are in the lower sections, according to what I’ve read if say i and 4 others have 20 MMR and 5 others have 30 MMR. So the people with 30 MMR will EVERY time be grouped together and the ones with 20 MMR will always be grouped together.

This means that every time the better players will be put together and the crappy players will always be together. Ummmm thats fairly terrible. It would mean that barring someone DC’ing or waffling their face on the keyboard the lower players will very rarely win.

Anet Devs what are you going to do about this real imbalance in your system. You have made it so that there is no fairness in the system.

Another thought to think of is those players in Diamond or Legendary will also eventually encounter this as well.

I really don’t care what anyone else says about this. This is one way you could balance it. IF you won a game then next round you get put in with someone who lost. So you would have a possible 2 winners 2 losers and either a winner or loser for the 5th person.

You forgot that the group with 30 mmr might face a group with 40 mmr in the next division pip range. They will lose until they get better at the game and finally beat those guys with higher mmr.

Season 2 vs Season 1, explanation/solution

I personally don’t have anything against this current system and I think it’s fine but apparently some people are having a hard time. Season 1 basically lied to players and now everyone is wondering why they win/lose so much when the system was corrected for season 2. In season 1 you could see 3 people capping 1 point in legend soloq. In season 2 those players can’t progress because they lose all the time.

I kinda feel sorry for season 1 players who earned their place in high divisions and now the facts are on the table.

Solution for this problem people are having now could be to reduce the pip range. I don’t know how big the pip range is but I remember someone saying 15 pips. So basically every 15 pips you progress to the next skill level and until then you get faceroll/facerolled games. Ofc this is true now at the start of the season. After 1-2 weeks from the start of the season good players have progressed further and bad player are left behind.

I believe we could make this process faster by reducing the pip range to 10 in order to get more skill tiers maybe?

Also it seems that quite a lot of players have forgot the fact that not everyone can be in legend or in diamond or in ruby… This system reflects your own player level more than any other system in this game so far. People are just too used to the fact that they could get everything they wanted easily without really having to work towards it in a way that would really require skill instead of just time.

My advice would be to ignore the season 1 because it lied to many players due to season 1 matchmaking. It made it easier for low skilled players to reach high divisions compared to high skilled players. Season 1 should have already used this season 2 matchmaking system to place people in to different tiers based on the division system.

Reaching [Insert Division] in season 1 is not the same as reaching [Insert Division] in season 2 and hitting the cap where you don’t win means that you are close to your own skill level placement in that division.

It is correct that allowing profession swapping works against matchmaking. While I don’t have hard metrics readily available, my gut tells me a relatively small percentage of the player base does this. I don’t think it would be worth while to rip out the profession scoring entirely, though we did lower its effectiveness in relation to other scoring factors.

Locking professions upon queuing gets us a couple things: Profession stacking can be completely controlled via the matchmaker, and we can start using profession MMR again which should make much more accurate matches than just using account-wide MMR.

Actually people are using professions swapping even in low tier ques. Also allowing people to play with a team that has multiple professions creates the illusion of being good and getting in pro league by stacking classes in ranked. If you really want more players to pro league you should make the same rules in ranked as you have in pro league. Otherwise the same teams will rule the pro league scene forever.

This game currently has no way to practice for pro league games other than scrim and if you got no scrim partner you just basically auto lose.

Or then make seperate que for teams if they want to play without class stacking and practice for pro league.

I’m almost at sapphire, but I have to admit, there will be hard to get out from amber if you still wait, there are so many idiot players out there, you want to cry… if you start to late you end up in ruby and never get out from there, ever… the idiots somehow will get to ruby to, eventually, then you will cry…

It won’t be hard if you are a decent player. Went like 9-1 out of amber. If you are a good player in a pool of terrible players you should be able to easily carry your team no matter how bad they are.

That’s funny right there. One good player can not carry 4 bad players. It was really hard for me to get out of amber, because I was under the impression that in the morning my win streak would continue. Boy was I wrong. The next day 15 losses in a row. Going up against players that where way better. Some games where close. But most where stomps. This is showing that the MM is far worse this time around. As the game is matching you with players with a similar MMR to you. You then go up against a team that all have a similar MMR. This team could have a significantly better MMR than your team. This is why so many players are getting stomped. To me this look like ANet have sat around a table and said, this sounds good we’ll do that.

What needs to happen is that both teams need to be with in the same MMR. As it stands the current set up is tanking half decent players MMR to the level of the new and really bad players. This is adding to the frustration of other people. The “pro’s” see nothing wrong with is as it inflates there egos, that they are strolling along wiping out the teams for “fun” and no real challenge. Where other players just think, kitten it. And stop playing PvP making the PvP player base smaller.

This is a bad thing. But hay ANet only want Elite ESport types playing PvP. It’s not for people who have supported the game for the last 3+ years.

I like how you ignore the skill factor. In last season it was 50/50 win/lose soloq because you faced players with similiar mmr than your team so matches were equal and you’d win 50% of you matches and sometimes you got lucky and were able to win so many games that you reached the next division tier.

That system made matches the same to low mmr people and high mmr people meaning that it was very hard for high mmr people to climb up divisions since they faced the top players already. That system forced them to abuse it in order to reach legend.

This system now matches you with people who are just equally bad/good, maybe a bit better and maybe a bit worse players than you. This system we have now is more skill based and makes the division show more how good you actually are in pvp.

I understand your frustration but everybody can’t be good in everything. Some are good in math and some in psychology and some others in pvp games…

It’s ranked. It’s not supposed to be balanced until you reach your division which might also be the amber division. People in gw2 are just too familiar with easy rewards and progress.

They are dropping in 1 v1 fights in under 10 seconds,

Yes. MMR has taken a backseat for now to the new system. It has much less weight.

This current system uses league division placement (division and pip range) to match you against your enemies and personal mmr to get you with your teammates. So basically you play with people who have same personal mmr than you and you face people from the amber pool when you begin this season.

That system was scrapped and replaced with a system where you gain 1 pip for winning and lose 1 pip for losing. The pip system explanation tells you why you gain your pip and for example if you are on win streak it tells you that you get 1 additional point because you are on winstreak.

Because you can’t kill the ele yourself right? If it still causes any problems the problem isn’t the amulet…

It’s not about killing the ele myself. Like i said no one dies. Imagine having bunker mesmer that heals allies at the same time.

Clerics amulet has a inherent weakness to condition damage while the power damage mitigation provided by all the toughness it gives is about 33% on light armoured and 29% on heavy.
If this amount is a problem the problem is more likely to be with the tempest than the amulet.

Well, ele with any other amulet is basically useless and I think ele is the only class that uses cleric effectively atm.

But not in the past and I can’t remember any build that was OP while wearing it before.
I’m not against tempest improvements but if they caused the same problem while wearing two different amulets, the problem isn’t the amulet.

Clerics can be used by revenants and druids it’s just less effective.

Long time before cele amulet eles used cleric and tanked 3v1. It was op and then ele was nerfed to make sure that ele wasn’t really viable in pvp. Then after some time they buffed ele and it made ele viable again.

Because you can’t kill the ele yourself right? If it still causes any problems the problem isn’t the amulet…

It’s not about killing the ele myself. Like i said no one dies. Imagine having bunker mesmer that heals allies at the same time.

Also currently cleric amulet on ele is making the next meta be bunker meta also if nothing is done and damage reduced.

Burtnik honestly please come to your senses. What on earth are you talking about?!? How do you play this game and what gamemodes, how long have you played? Not using herald and not using weapon swap in pvp and still calling that you do fine means that your level in pvp is very very low. Are you playing for daily nodes or what makes you do this kind of suggestions?

If you would review any other class i bet you would say ele needs only 1 attunement in combat, ranger doesn’t need the weapon swap, warrior needs only rifle. Mesmer should use only 1 clone at a time, engi shouldn’t have weapons at all and use kits instead… Or then you are just ex warrior player and angry to anet + posting stuff that doesn’t make any sense.

Just a suggestion. This way you could stunbreak out of slick shoes. It’s so much fun to get 3 knockdowns from this skill when the engi runs around you. Oh and btw engi super speed is faster than super speed on other professions.

Super Speed is all the same unless any bugs are confirmed otherwise. I’m not aware of any such bugs

I think it’s related to mecha legs since everytime i use super speed on revenant the engi outruns me. I think these effects stack together + with swiftness? also that would make engi to be kinda the only class using super speed and being faster than any other class in the game because it’s not really practically useful on any other class to use movement speed runes in pvp.

Idk if it’s when you have chilled or cripple or if it’s without those but those effects shouldn’t stack anyway according the wiki.

Movement speed can be expressed in units per second (u/s). Sideways or backward motion is much slower than forward motion and forward motion speed is reduced by 33% while in combat.

Movement speed increases do not stack with each other—only the greatest value takes effect. For example, a character under the effect of Signet of Air (25%) and swiftness (33%) will only move 33% faster.

Maximum movement speed is capped at 133% of base speed out of combat, but 200% of base speed in combat; this means e.g. Superspeed makes use of its full 100% increase while in combat.

Class stacking is ruining the pvp.

Its funny because you determine their skill level by their toon they switched too maybe they suck on their main too the problem isnt the stack/switching off classes its the way matchmaking and balance works in this game locking classes would make it allmost impossible for solo queuers as classes arent taken in account when setting up matches since there are 9 classes its ridiculus to think you will allways face even comps switching toons enables you too make matches more even and carry the kitten teamates you get grouped with

I think the point here was that if a player who has like 1000 games on 1 class swaps to class with 20 games it means that your team plays 4v5.
