Just click on the above links people have been using and modify as you need to. Get the new link (generate it for gw2skills, copy the URL from dulfy as it changes dynamically).
……well yeah i’m just going to unplug my computer now and throw it in the dumpster. Apparently I can’t internet!
I am still loving it, and I think the ability to make an RS condition build is definatly there. I wanna do power though because I already have a condition build for the core necro and don’t really play power that much except when i have to for PvE.
There are 2 things though, one for worry, one for disappointment. I’m worried they may try and nerf the reaper before launch because, in theory and perfect scenarios, we would be very very powerful. This is the problem plaguing necromancers now with DS, life siphons, and a lot of other traits that are only good if the optimal scenarios are achieved. I think they got the message, but you never know what’s going through another person’s head.
The second is looking at reaper, and seeing what we have to play with right now. I just look at base necro and then look at the reaper, and it’s kind of like, “This is what we SHOULD have been all this time, this is what we were SUPPOSED to be. Avatars of death, not necessarily mobile, but able to take hits and grow stronger off of the life energies of our opponents.” i mean, yeah deathshroud in theory is very strong, a second health bar? YES PLEASE! But because we could never recharge our primary health bar with other people’s heals, or even our own life siphons, it became nothing but an anchor to stop us from getting the support we needed. I’m fine with being selfish, I’m fine with being the number 1 target on the enemy team in a fight. But give me the resources and abilities necessary to survive that focus IF I PLAY RIGHT!
Reaper looks to at the very least, lessen these problems, but we won’t know until the actual thing is launched.
I got really hyped up at the Reaper reveal and have been playing everyday since, after coming back from about a month and a half break and saying if the reaper reveal didn’t impress me, I was not going to play again until the xpac.
But even with that, I’m still having trouble staying fixated on my goal of getting twilight, if we had a release date I’d feel more motivated. Even if it was just an approximation, like fall or winter, or early next year. I figure we would’ve heard something by now, even an announcement of the announcement of a release date.

In WVW I’d much rather fight a mesmer than a thief, they’re fun to fight, just need to avoid the burst, a little CC and conditions and the fight becomes interesting.
Ahh ok. I have never really ran mm in wvw
Honestly for 1v1 and small team fights, it’s pretty decent…as long as the minions don’t go brain dead to the target. If using dagger main hand, you can get an 8 second immobolize on a target with rigor mortis from Bone Fiend and dagger 3. The Bone Minions hit like trucks, and if you run staff, combo well with chillblains to apply a lot of weakness. Flesh golem is just flesh golem, he’s mainly there to keep the enemy moving and not let them have a moments rest, and blood fiend will keep you nice and healthy. Use Death Shroud to absorb the burst and keep flesh wurm in your back pocket for if things get nasty and you’re good to go…but again, this all depends on if the AI doesn’t go bad.
Now then, incoming rant on thieves….
I hate thieves….scratch that….I despise thieves. If the entirety of the thief profession was deleted and replaced by a moa, I would love it, and I’m not ashamed to say I was happy when stealth was broken a couple days ago. Wish they had to wait as long as we did for some things to get it fixed. I hate their seemingly endless access to stealth, their ridiculous mobility, the stupid initiative system they have that lets them have no cooldowns on their weapons (yes I know it’s a global cooldown, but hey unlike them if I miss a skill, I can’t just wait 3-4 seconds and use it again) and not be affected by chill almost at all (since initiative isn’t affected by chill and they have ports out the butt), and most of all, I hate the entire playstyle the class is based around. The thief community in WvW and PvP is incredibly toxic and trolly, so that doesn’t help my opinion either. Out of all the sneaky sneaky assassin based characters I’ve played against in shooters, mobas and such games, thief in GW2 gets my award for most hated.
Now onto the actual Thread, Reaper I think will have a harder and easier time against thieves. Reaper I think will be tankier, so you can take more hits, and we do have our gapcloser on RS2. But it’s still going to come down to CCing the thief long enough to get the burst off. Otherwise he’ll just run away, get his initiative and health back, and then dive back in. Best thing you can do against a thief is bring a friend.
….honestly after reading over the changes again and again, I’m not seeing that big of an issue here. Upgrades will take roughly the time it took before, just now people won’t have to stop and queue them up, as well as spend gold on them (which was a big factor), only for an enemy zerg to appear a couple of hours later and demolish all your hard work. You won’t have to worry about some nooby (don’t mean that offensively) or troll wasting precious supply either for a tower about to be lost, or the keep and the citadel, so all supply can now be used for offensive and defensive siege.
When I commanded a couple of times in WvW and we were getting run over but the nightshift zerg from FSP, I would order a thief to scout the nearest camp/tower and see its supply. If it was enough to get a golem, I’d tell them to order and upgrade to burn it and keep them from amassing an army as easily. So yeah, that won’t work as well unfortunately. Also, dolyaks will still be useful for helping to get your structures upgraded in a timely manner, hopefully they operate on percent bases though, making them more valuable and more worth defending.
I’m going staff/gs. I’llhave chilling sigil on the staff and pouson on the sword to give myself maximum benefit from the damage reduction traits. Staff will mainly be for punishing ranged enemies by setting up marks and just walking away to cover. Once in range, I’ll use spectral grasp then from there reaper shroud or switch to greatsword.
Axe and focus would be good too for boon stripping and chill application, as well as burst vulnerability stacking. In that case I’ll run condition duratipn reduction runes and food to supplement.

I mainly WvW when looking for fights but mesmer’s really rely a lot on their clones from what I can tell to do anything. Does it make it hectic, yeah but like somebody else posted, they are as fragile as glass, even as my condition necro it only takes a mark or two to kill em. If you can stun the Mesmer or just condition bomb him, his life will become heck since mesmer’s really lack any solid form of condition removal far as I can tell. If they don’t kill me with their initial engagement, a quick fear, tainted shackles, dhuumfire lifeblast will put a big hurting on them. Follow up with a staff fear and standard condition rotation and their usually down and out.
Thieves are really the only class I can complain about, PvP they are much less effective from what I’ve seen and experienced, but they are just so annoying to fight against.
Well teleportation (although it does not exist in the real world yet?) is the ability to move yourself through space without the burden of a physical mass. Without getting technical it allows one to disappear and reappear a set distance away instantly leaving the former “you” erased from the physical world. To this end it make complete sense as your former self no longer exists and hence neither do the conditions placed upon it; your new “you” however will retain these as they were taken along for the ride as it were. I know that may not be very clear but suffice it to say that it works rather logically even in a fantasy setting.
I think they were able to teleport an apple or something across a room a while back. But they said that the necessary processing power to deconstruct, store, move, and reconstruct a human atom by atom has not yet been achieved.
I use a 2/6/0/0/6 build with bomb kit, elixir gun, thumper turret, supply crate (only useful elite) with rifle and healing turret. IDK if it’s considered meta or not but it stacks a lot of might (15-18), a lot of stealth, has good condition cleanse, mobility, and damage. Gives you a lot of options to deal with any situation that may arise as well, and helps you to learn field timing.
Just always seemed weird to me that teleports got a free pass against chill and cripple, while leaps, jumps, and other general movement abilities are affected by these 2 conditions.

Yeah, i disabled compatibility mode now and still having no problems, so that didn’t fix my problem. So bugger….
I got an engi alt (necro main), but will admit, the mortar rework does intrigue me. As well as what its spec might be in general. Engi is already a strong class, so it’ll be interesting to see just how much stronger it gets from these reworks.

may sound strange but after I checked for compatibility issues, I activated compatibility mode for GW2. I have not had any errors for the past 2 hours. I’ll report back after playing the rest of the night.
Hell I can’t even get into the dang login screen.
Location: Ohio, USA
Time and date of Incident: 10:30 pm, Eastern Standard Time
Game World: Gandara
Brief Description: Game plays just fine, 100-200 ms, 40-60 fps depending on how heavy the screen is at the time, then suddenly goes to crap, massive lag ranging anywhere from 800-2000, then it disconnects and I can’t play. I can usually make it to the character selection screen, but after hitting play nothing happens, or i get stuck at the loading screen until the game times out or I just simply quit.
Now even though I live in USA, I used to not have this problem at all, even when playing on a wireless connection. But since last month, I have been having this problem consistently every night. The game will run just fine then boom, DC’d. Guys will be running into walls, I evade and use no stamina, skills won’t fire, then I get the error message. I have my ports forwarded, did a traceroute, pingpath, and called my ISP. I have also talked to the GW2 team though they haven’t been that much help. (nice though) I took a break because necro is my favorite profession but it kept getting crapped on in balance patches, but after seeing reaper I came back instantly and really want to play again. I can’t do anything though with this lag and the constant DC’s now. This is the only game this happens in too, other games are fine.
pulls out lawn chair, a cooler, and some popcorn This is going to get very good. Anybody want a beer? Got soda too!
Same, even tried repairing it and nothing. I can sometimes get to the game update screen, sometimes to login, but haven’t gotten past the loading screen.
at first yes, but I think as people play and begin to understand reaper better, we’ll probably find reaper’s turning into a sort of spearhead for the frontline, charge in with death’s charge to rip stability, throwing down spectral wall to stab-check enemies while providing protection, don’t forget good old fashioned wells, the shout that turns boons to vulnerability will also be good, and don’t forget that they are making it so blood magic traits will heal through deathshroud, and that our one grandmaster in reaper makes it so we given life force on might application, or healed while we are in DS. Plus we finally have a good source of pulsing stability of our own.
For roaming, I suspect we’ll have problems with thieves and mesmer’s still, but even now with a terrormancer roamer, I find I’m regularly able to kill guardians, Warriors, eles, and engineers pretty easily. With reaper’s burst, I think he’ll have an even easier time against thieves. Mesmer’s maybe, not so sure, though we can use their own clones and illusions against them for shouts and such.
PVP I think reaper bunker will be ineresting to see, but I’ll stop there as I dor play much PvP.
Probably this, my current look use priory leggings with Arah boots. This one I like more for the added light ice blue and more heavy armor look. Neil also swap out the gloves for Arah gloves because, hey Skeleton hands look sick playing the charr base.

How about giving reflect on RS2, and projectile destruction on CPC, and increasing the cool down slightly to compensate, or scaling back CPC duration?
There were two things I was worried about most when they showed reaper was gonna be melee focused sustain (so blood magic obviously) and stability. They have addressed both those issues so I am very, very, very, very, VERY, happy. It’s not a leap, but it’s a big step forward for necromancer, and hopefully maybe the next specialization we get for necros will deal more with conditions.
Overall, I’m so happy that I’m now going to work on crafting twilight. Unless I get a teq hoard…then I might not
Honestly I think Jagged horrors are fine, they’re small so harder to notice, can get blown up easy for death novas, and so on and so forth.
But I think a more interesting mechanic would have the minion summoned be dependent on you Life Force that you had at using the time of rise, jagged horror for 0-25, bone fiend for 25-50, shadow fiend that inflicts blind when it hits at 50-75, and flesh golems at 100%.
THAT probably won’t happen though, so I’m still fine with jagged horrors, or bone minions.
Tune of the lich might be fun with a death knight, gives you another jagged horror, increased condition duration, and some vitality. Now you can be a frontline minion commander instead of a back line politician.
I am excited for these changes….IF. AND ONLY IF we get reliable acces to stability or the defiance bar and good life stealing. If we don’t have that than reaper will be more useless than a truck without tires.
Oh god…what if the defiance bar goes to warriors…
You fools. You foolish fools, can’t you see the train you’re riding on is going off a cliff and into a raging inferno of torment?
In all seriousness, if we get a defiance bar, how are we going to be able to fight back without sustain?
The class getting Shouts is the Necromancer

I predict that there will be a mass exodus of necromancers to the revenant after seeing the changes, based on Anets track record with necromancers.
And now the big thing
What if the necromamcers get a skilltype from revenant? Still unknown. Lot of possibilities!Btw, i believe the Elemtalist tempest get Stances. My guess.
Honestly wouldn’t count on necro getting something from the revenant. Maybe inspiration from certain skills yes, but nothing unique from them. I’ve given up hope at this point tbh and am just waiting for the x-pac to drop so I can get back into the game.
Ele’s getting stances would be interesting however, though I haven’t actually played an elementalist. Though it’s hard to say what the elementalist lacks exactly. Condition maybe?

Meh I’m tired of waiting for them to improve necros and am just gonna come back when the expansion release so I can play and level up a revenant, as it’s looking like it’ll be able to do a lot of things that necros can already do plus even more.
Even if they do much a giant leap forward with this expansion, will it really be enough to put us on par with the other professions? We have so many baseline contradictions in necromancer that is is astounding. Even fear, which we have the most access to compared to the other classes, is a contradiction as it makes our enemies run away from us, and we don’t have skills we can use to chase after and make sure they can’t escape once the fear wears off.
Meanwhile the engineer keeps getting buffed, eles can still stack a group with full might, guardians fart out boons like they’re going out of style, and the list goes on and on and on, it’s all be said before and ANET has shown they just don’t care.
We are balanced around how strong we COULD be, while the other professions are balanced around how strong they actually ARE.
Unless the signets get a substantial buff, this trait will see no play whatsoever, especially since it’s going up against Close to Death. Nobody is going to give up a 20% damage boost to an enemy under 50% health for just a slight reduction on cruddy signets, and an active that requires 5 enemies to be remotely effective.
AoE healing? There’s a well for that.
Vulnerability? We can do plenty when the /mace warrior is slacking
Blind? Yes, we can.
Area denial? Fears for days and especially Teh Epic Troll Wall of Fear FTW <3
Apply weakness? Yea, we got it.
Boon strip? We got it covered 2 or 3 different ways.
Not dying? Sure, we don’t have a total invulnerability skill, but we got loads of health and a second health bar, it’s okay enough that I don’t mind it too much.
AoE Stability? Well.. our well is kinda broken, I’ll give you that (only 1 second and doesn’t pulse with a 5 second well?)
Skipping content? There are consumables for this.
Movement speed? We got a passive signet, possible perma swift uptime with warhorn, and swiftness for days with specral walk.
AoE movement speed? If you don’t have an Ele, Warrior, Mez, Thief, Ranger, Engi or Guard in your group
Not to be mean or condescending, but here is my question to that. What can a necro do that another profession can’t already do but better? Thief has stealth and on demand access to blind, warrior has its banners to give loads of support and buffs, guardians can just fart and you get a full bar of boons plus reflects and aoe stability, eles can stack might and fury like no tomorrow, plus heals.
Engies can do the job of thief and an ele, not as well but dang close and fill in any holes the group might have. Oh and also have great aoe vulnerability with grenades and bombs. Mesmers can remove boons more consistently than a necro can, nobody really cares if they get flipped to conditions or not, they just want them gone. Plus the handy as heck portal letting your whole group easily bypass content. The ranger is the only profession I can think of that doesn’t do much for groups, except spirits.
I’m pretty happy with the changes since I play condition necro. But do think power builds are kinda left out to dry.
Quick question: Does Curse GM minor trait increase condi damage by 2% too? I have tested it out on golems and bleeds hit same with 7 condis and single condi. I’m not a huge path of corruption fan either so i run with 04406 for reapers protection +1/4 sec stab for FitG flash safestomp and +20% LF from deaths.
No unfortunately. Personally I think it’d be better if it was +2% crit chance per condition.
And same on the path of corruption, it’s so slow and takes forever to cast.
As long as you have some condition duration Master of Terror is not worth taking, with current changes you can get double proc even if not full 2 sec, you need Terror. I dislike carrion on necro lack of damage mitigation makes it worse for me, I’ve been trying to figure out what to replace my stun break with but it doesn’t seem easy, I prefer taking Staff Mastery over Signet’s, SoS is so high CD and I find it lacking . I just noticed how poor our choices are…
Isn’t there a bug though right now with terror where it won’t proc if it isn’t a full 2 seconds?
Played with it a little bit in PvE…love it. And with the recent condition changes it doesn’t even affect my build that much, sure I loose dhuumfire but I used that as a filler trait anyways. Plus now I have a reason to actually invest in soulreaping as a condition necro, giving me so many more options. (Mainly WvW when I fight people, pvp is just sorta boring…and the community is terrible. >_>)
Uhhhh….honestly not sure which side I take since I mainly play condition roamer builds. On the one hand I’d like it if they did get rid of the plus and minus condition duration food, but at the same time it’d make my roaming terrormancer much weaker. Also i imagine we’d start seeing a lot more thieves than we already are….hm, tough choice.
Yep, submit a bug report…maybe we’ll get lucky and it’ll get fixed in 6 months.
But but they fixed US back to it’s miserable self under 24 hours…
blegh shoulda paid better attention to the time stamp. my bad.
Yeah i’m not playing really anymore until this is fixed…it’s gotta be something with the camera, swear this patch has had more bugs in it than fixes. I have an AMD fx 9590 processor and a nvidia 970 graphics card ,and was pulling 60 fps easy in most areas and 30 in heavy combat.
Yep, submit a bug report…maybe we’ll get lucky and it’ll get fixed in 6 months.
I despise thieves as it’s just so dang annoying in general. Most of the thief community I’ve seen in PvP are trolls, and WvW they just look for easy kills and run if they can’t one or two shot you, ….not all thieves are like that from what I’ve seen but most are. Thieves that use a evasion build I have fun fighting and will even let live in WvW after I down em and they bow back after they get back up.
However, as others said they are pretty much balanced around the stealth mechanic. To change stealth is a direct nerf or buff to the thief class while being a minor nerf or buff to mesmer or engie.
I love how we seem to get closer and closer to expansion, we necros seem to get more and more vocal.
get excited bro.
I think the downstate fixes were just a start.
Inside is a rant so warning, lots of negativity in general about the necromancer state.
Pretty much what sagat said man. I got excited when they said they’d fix our sustain, and look at us now…no mobility, no lockdown, no sustain. We have no team synergy and bring nothing to the table, in fact you could say we just harm the team in dungeons and big events because of our dark fields which are useless. We HAVE to bring spectral walk and flesh wurm just to stand a chance in any decent level of PvP, sure we can corrupt some boon spamming ele/engi but heck, those classes have so many stuns they just need to have anther teammate to focus us and we’re dead. WvW we’re only wanted for our wells and honestly, i never zerg as a necro. It’s so flipping boring that I can’t stand it.
I’d be ok with no sustain if we had mobility. I’d be ok with no mobility if we had good sustain, think Alucard from Hellsing sustain (not as much considering he could be blasted to bits and still regenerate but you get the gist. If you don’t get the reference it’s an anime) Anet says we’re supposed to be a selfish class so that’s why we have no team synergy, well I say that’s crap. Why can’t we enthrall our defeated allies and turn them into undead minions that serve us and rely on us for life? Why can’t we have minions that…i don’t know, actually protect and help allies, hell a minion that attacks opponents but when you use its active skill, it recalls and encases you protecting you from damage, or if you target an ally, protects them? Heck, let’s go a step further, why can’t we rip the souls from our enemies and use them to heal us? I mean necros in this game are masters of life force and we’ve seen them summon souls back to the world for different purposes, I sorta figured we’d be able to do this sorta thing, BUT NO!
Meanwhile, on my engineer, it’s gotten nothing but buffs and some tweaks, some actual ATTEMPTS to make gadgets more viable. A couple of small nerfs here and there but not anything major that comes to mind….i’m getting off topic so i’ll wrap it up.
….sorry about ranting, haven’t been able to play due to extreme lag, but that seems to be gone now but thanks to this dang patch I am having massive framerate issues and am lucky to get 23 frames even on the lowest settings, I was pulling 60, 30 in heavy combat areas. I’m just tired of playing my necromancer and acting like I’m contributing when really, I’m not doing much if anything other than being a damage sponge.
Just sorta wanted to get that off my chest. Love necros, love what we’re SUPPOSED TO BE, love what we CAN do, just don’t love where we are and where other classes are in comparison.
They could always make it like GW1 and have it life steal in an AOE for each condition targets in that AOE are suffering from!
Something like:
Feast of Corruption
Steal 226 (0.05) life from enemies in target area. Steal an additional 56 (0.01) from each enemy for each unique condition they are suffering from. Gain 5% Life Force for each foe affected by this skill.
Number of Targets: 5
Range: 900
Cast Time: 1s
Cooldown: 15sThat is cool.
Anet logic: Would, with the combination of aoe condition application and epidemic, make condition builds too powerful, allowing them to better tank damage and let the conditions tick.
I love how we seem to get closer and closer to expansion, we necros seem to get more and more vocal.
DS enter/exit doesn’t interrupt res/stomping I thought
I´m pretty sure it does.
Since lacking group utility/support is one of our biggest weaknesses at the moment, why not make it a “shout”-type of effect?
e.g.
- 3 stacks of stability for 7 seconds
- 5 targets
- radius 600
I’ll try and use anet logic to say why that won’t happen.
Anet Logic: Necromancers are supposed to be a selfish class, therefore, no.
Heyo, since patch i have been receiving significantly less frames per second. I used to average 55-60 no problem in places like divinities reach and 25-30 when in heavy populated combat areas (like teq and claw of jormag).
Now even when there is nothing on screen I am getting 30 and if just a couple of people show up, i drop to 10-15. I have just upgraded my processor and moved GW2 to my new SSD but this was happening before i did that. Is there a fix? Even if i put it on lowest settings Is till get 30, and the limiter is not on.
PRAISE BE TO DRARNOR! Showing once again, we are balanced around optimal conditions and scenarios that are about as likely to happen as you winning the lottery on another planet. Seriously…this stuff just makes me cry. V_V;
I held out hope as long as i could, and right now it does seem like most ideas that would be good for necromancer will be used for the revenant….so yeah, I probably will. Time for me to accept that anet just doesn’t have the talent to balance us, or doesn’t give two craps about necromancers. Right now it looks like both.
Same, can’ play worth crap now. I try and launch a skill and nothing happens for a solid 5-6 seconds. I had this problem last patch too and the further it got from patch day the better it got but I’ve had enough. I live in america and play on an EU server but lag for me has never been this bad for this long.
