Wow peeps are harsh. They already told us what to expect in April. The fact that they are fixing things is a great step! Rome was not built in a day, so chill and wait. Complaining about it all the time only discourages others to continue playing.

And it seems like complaining and encouraging others to stay away from the game has finally gotten Anet’s attention rather than just rattling sabers and giving little hints and suggestions. Not dissing you, just stating a fact.

Lol so this game is dying, but instead of fixing it you want your legendary crafting stuff? By the time you have crafted it then the game is dead..

No thanx, fix the game! At this point i totally agree with anet…
Sure it sucks, but get over it..

Think you’ll find a lot of people have or are getting over it, along with getting over this game into something either newer, shinier, or a better track record. For some like myself, it’s not a matter of canceling (or PR speak of Suspended Indefinitely), it’s a matter of another broken promised feature listed right on the HoT site.

I think GW2 will survive this, but I’m gonna take Mike’s advice and not trust what they say anymore.

As for OP, nice thought but considering nobody techinically lost anything, I doubt ANET will give anybody anything other than a recommended gemstore purchase.

Get Rid of Precursor Crafting: Problem Solved

Please no, I do actually LIKE the precursor crafting system, it was fun and gave each legendary an investment other than just money. The ONLY thing I despise and find absolutely repulsive is just how much Timegated ascended material it takes to complete tier two. I don’t want a legendary fro free, but rather, I want to work on it at my own pace and my own time, not the pace ANET has set, which for dusk was 90 days minimum, unless I shelled out a ton of gold and at which point, I might as well had bought dusk off the TP.

TheLastNobody.8319

No, just no. Far as I can tell Colin was part of the problem anyway. My sympathy for ANET as a whole has run out though, as it’s clear they never had or planned a clear direction after HoT, jumping from PvP, to PvE, to WvW hype over the last few months. I loved HoT when it released, but now I hardly even play because there is hardly anyone on those maps. The balance was still in bad shape before the elite specs, and now it’s even worse in PvP. WvW….great ideas, horrible execution, and again, they left core system problems unaddressed.

I’ll say this for Mike, least he had the balls to come out and tell us they are scrapping legendaries rather than just say soon or try and spin it into something positive. No hope is better than false hope.

Its about the journey… random events A and B are largely boring and lame. In the context of the legendary and WHY I am doing it makes it fun.

I can get behind that. I have to admit, giving it context makes it a bit more enjoyable to get a precursor, certainly as compared to the previous RNG system (the fact that I never had a precursor drop since the launch of GW2 “might” factor into my dislike for that system :P). Though seeing the obvious gold/material sink that it is, and not the only one they introduced to HoT (I am also speaking as my guild’s Scribe), is a demotivating factor for me personally, and the reason why none of my precursor collections have progressed past tier II yet. I’ve unlocked 12, all the ones I like, with the intent to spend as much time on them as it would take by just playing the game instead of chasing the trophies all the time.

I’m in the same boat. I loved helping a friend craft dusk, and then got to tier 2 and said screw it. It’s not so much the materials, as it is the Timegates for the materials and the fact the only reliable source of high tier leather and cloth are RNG drops of their respective armor groups.

With all those people talking about lawsuits because of “false advertising”, I suppose you never go to any fast food… if so, I assume you spend a lot of time in court. /s /kappa

Joking aside, YES it is terrible how their ambitions were too high and we ended up with missing some parts of the game. But it’s for the greater good, I’m pretty sure of that.

Legendaries were said to come after HoT… They never said each expansion would get a new set of legendaries, so even if we get some weapons after xpac2, it’s still “after HoT”.

I completely understand how people are annoyed with this idea, but GW2 is changing, they want to make the game better, and just like everything else it requires sacrifices. If seeing the game going back on the right tracks means delaying some stuff, I’m ok with it. Once everything is back in order, they’ll have plenty of time to work on missing things.

I don’t get the fast food joke.

Anyway no… they most definitely said HoT would come with legendaries.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxLkfXwxLTs#t=34m37s

And as has been pointed out a million times and repeatedly ignored by the people defending anet, if things need to be fixed they should be shifting resources away from the 70+ people they have working on the next expansion before they started cancelling features from this one. There is no defense against it, I don’t care what anybody has to say about it.

It is rather interesting that people are defending this, considering if you take Mike at his word, he even says that you shouldn’t trust what he says or promises.

I will work to make you happy, and I’ll do it by making you happy with what we ship, not with what we promise to ship.

Mo

At first glance that sounds reassuring but when you think on it for a couple of seconds there are 2 ways to interpret it. First is positive, and that everything they ship from this point forward we will like and enjoy.

Second, is that he’s saying when they promise something or say anything, just don’t listen, that way you’ll be happy with what they shipped out even if it is missing a bit of content.

Given Anet’s track record so far I’m inclined to believe the second. He’s telling us to judge them by their actions and not their words, and so far their actions since HoT have not inspired the confidence ANET desperately needs right now. There have been some Gems ( haha pun) such as the shatterer rework, and yes, raids apparently are pretty cool. But they’ve also Timegated so much content, balance is still not where it should be, and the Megaserver system is not set up to help support HoT, in fact I’d say it’s part of what is killing it!

Holy kitten. What have I done? lool

Eh don’t feel bad, this is just the state that the game has degenerated to. ANET built a community up that was used to faceroll easy content and now that they put interesting rewards behind content that may require a tiny bit of time investment or skill, they’re up in arms. They’ll nerf it though or provide an alternate, long as heck material Timegated route though. That I have no doubt.

I am getting sick of the attitude that all raids take is a little bit of effort and that if someone can’t beat a raid, it just means that they are unwilling to put in effort.

I have been practicing since the raid came out, and I haven’t beaten VG yet, but I hope to one day. But please don’t tell me that it only takes a tiny bit of time investment or skill because I’ve put in more than that.

Then again, Dark Souls taught me that there isn’t anything that a gamer won’t call easy.

Always glad to meet a fellow souls player. Love those games, can’t wait for the new one.

Anyway, I wish more players were like you, most I meet just want to be carried or wait until a clear path to victory comes out they can just follow to obtain their rewards in this game. So hats off to ya, you are investing some time and skill in wanting to learn the mechanics. Most don’t and that’s who I’m referring to.

Outfits: How ANet is missing out on sales

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheLastNobody.8319

TheLastNobody.8319

It’s because their philosophy is, “minimum effort for maximum dolla’.” Apply that to every aspect of the game, and here we are today.

“Fix PvP balance!”
- “Ok, we’ll just remove some amulets.”
“Fix WvW!”
- “Ok, we’ll make EoTM.”
“Fix dungeons!”
- “Ok, we’ll make fractals.”

Seriously, everything they’ve done in the past couple years has been all about minimizing effort and maximizing their dollars. The state of HoT at launch being so unfinished is just another prime example. They’ve lost a lot of players because of this business paradigm.

The irony is, a cheaply made product will be treated as such. The more love you put into your product, the more others will love it as well. Art that takes a long time to produce and is polished well will sell for thousands more than something that is just slapped together and tossed into the community.

The only outfit I bought is the ninja, and even that I regretted. Haven’t purchased an outfit since. They’re just a cheap novelty. Nothing special.

This game has so much potential, but Anet keeps missing the mark.

Don’t forget dungeons with that! But yeah I agree, ANET does a lot of patchwork balancing to try and hold their game together, but seems like it’s starting to come apart. But now that the game is free to play maybe that’s all their care about is a quick turnover on the gemstore. I’ve put down GW2 for now but honestly I don’t know if I really wanna pick it up again what with the further nerfing of HoT content coming and the class balance in the shape it is, followed by bugged skills on classes themselves like the revenant.

Truthfully if it wasn’t for one friend who begs me to play with her sometimes I don’t think I’d look back at this game.

HoT needs to be Buffed

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: TheLastNobody.8319

TheLastNobody.8319

Avarice,

I can hardly remember the last time a boss or enemy in PvE, that I actually had to think one step ahead or recognize a pattern. Hell the entire berserker meta was established simply so people could get their rewards faster. Harder content creates the need for more and varied builds IF DONE RIGHt. Too hard and te meta becomes iron clad.

Really I’m not big on the HoT timers and believe the map should be more dependent on players rather than a set timer, like how world bosses used to be I believe…it’s been so long that they changed em but I believe they were on a soft timer but after that timer expired if you did the event chain the boss came up. It was so much fun douing a boss and screwing up the champ train!

Also I think the maps are well designed in funneling people to do events in smaller groups, then gathering them up for the big main event. The problem is that these maps are also designed to be explored and appreciated and that naturally conflicts with this organized nature with adventures and hero points being hard to do when the bigger events are going on….I think putting mastery points behind adventures was dumb. But most hero points are solvable or duo able.

I agree with OP completely. I hate that HoT will be getting more nerfs, and I’m afraid it’s going to become nothing more than an Orr champ train completely. I also blame te ridiculous Megaserver system for failing get players into more populated maps. I once had my party split into 4 seperate instance of verdant brink, no joke, no lies. It’s part of the reason the maps seem so empty unless you get a champ train.

Unfortunately this game has no learning curve, it has learning walls, it doesn’t teach you or show you how to deal with tough situations and how to tackle them in Open world PvE in a rewarding way. In addition, the PvE community has been conditioned has the train mentality that nothing should get in the way of their Rewards. I’m really just starting to think most players would be happy with a button they just press to get loot.

A knight in shining armor is a man who never had his metal truly tested.

So.. Why do people hate us?

in Necromancer

Posted by: TheLastNobody.8319

TheLastNobody.8319

Three reasons:

1. Reaper is on the lower end of skill floor. To be completely honest, you don’t have to be that great of a player to have a decent performance as a Reaper.

2. The counter to Reaper is not so much a build as it is tactics. Lower skilled players see Reaper as overpowered because they haven’t figured out how to take on an opponent in anything outside of a straight-up brawl, which Reaper is designed to be absurd in. Any profession can beat a Reaper, but it does take thinking.

3. Necros as a whole throw a monkey wrench in how people like to play. From neutering healing with poison and screwing up rotations entirely with Chill to laughing at your Stability and Protection that you were relying on. Necros force people to change their play by screwing with them. People hate being weakened in games, and Necros are the kings of debuffing (always have been, even across games).

See this is where you people loose me. 1st of i dont get what you elitist guild wars players always have the same problems 1. you think beacuse something is easy its not fun, and i dont get that, im not gonna give up my favourite class that i enjoy very simply put more of the way it looks and feels but for people like this im a noob beacuse im playing a diffrent class they dont enjoy as much or find as challegin as their mains. and i do think Us Reapers are op at alot of things but the thing i see most as reaper mainer is people who just get up in my face and thats how we chew trough you. when i finnaly come up against someone who knows how to actually play their class i get destroyed just as easily as anyone else,

First you dindt want us in pve beacuse we dont have any support cababilities and know youre trying to push us out of pvp beacuse we finnaly got the buff we deserved, a quick newsflash when we invetabel get nerfed another class is gonna take its place as the apex preadetor and all the noobs and eletists who just want the best and the best goes to that one. Im sorry if this comes off as a kind of assholish post but i strongly dissagre my favourite class being put back at the bottom of the food chain beacuse idiots give us a bad name.

First dranor isn’t an elitist when it comes to necromancer, he’s a realist and I’ve seen him on these forums advocating for necromancer buffs to support GW2 Group Play philosophy since I started 2 years ago.

Second. You are right that people are treating reaper’s almost like normal necromancers. But PvP is all about getting and holding a point as long as you can, so people HAVE to get in your melee range to fight you for point, or burst you down before you go shroud and start wrecking. Sure you can range em but then you’re not in point contesting, meaning the enemy is getting points if you can’t force the reaper off and get in point.

Third, and this is what I was most afraid of, reaper and necromancer boon corruption was taken up and over the top last patch. The reason was to help counteract the boon spam that had creeped into the game over the years. Class that rely on boons like ele and revenant of course are our natural enemies, and we can potentially not just shut them down, but turn their very prescence into a hinders be for their team. We are now the top of the food chain, and you know what happened to the last top guy? He got nerfed so hard he’s still seeing stars.

Finally, most of what I mentioned is PvP related but since ANET insist on doing most of their balancing around PvP (bar exceptions like burn zerker), that is where one must focus their attention. And even still we don’t have much if any team support except in debuffs like weakness which are negated by The breakbar….Oi I do apologize, really don’t mean to sound hostile and that’s not a mocking jab at you. I’m kinda just fed up with ANET and the state the game is in, and am really really worried about the rates of reaper and revenant with all the qqing going on and remembering what happened to mesmers.

Boon corrupt + condi transfer

in PvP

Posted by: TheLastNobody.8319

TheLastNobody.8319

Plague Signet is propably the most broken skill in the game and they even merged it into an adept trait. It is really easy to see that they lost any common sense.

This is how a warrior skill looks:

  • Break stun
  • Remove one condition from allies in 600 AoE
  • 25s cd
  • Skill exists as a master trait

This is how a necro skill looks:

  • Break stun
  • Remove five condtions
  • Apply five conditions to target ally
  • 30s cd
  • Skill exists as adept trait
  • Unblockable

Believe me. This company lost every competent developer a long time ago. Bad salaries made only those people stay that are bad at their jobs. And even those don’t get enough room for balance work due to a leadership that is nothing but a failure.

I wont buy any Arenanet game ever again.

This is true, however, you’re also forgetting what else a warrior brings to the table. A necromancer doesn’t really have much team support when it comes to team Condi cleanse, team heals, or team boon application, they are an entirely selfish class meant to support by debuffing enemies. It wasn’t until a the June patch did necro really become a threat, as that was when we got Signets of Suffering, letting us stand up to Cele Ele at the time by corrupting their boons.

Onto topic though, yes this last patch did give us way too much boon corruption, I mean we got it on scepter, weakening blood, Weakening shroud, DS even got it standard on Dark Path. I was fine with scepter auto corrupt until I saw all the other boon corrupts we got on the side. And I’m really fearing for Necromancers right now because of how powerful they are, especially with reaper, and worried they’ll go back down to trash tier ping pong ball…

On the other hand what do I care? I got back into some other games and A new one I’m looking forward to comes out next month.

How to bring up DS to the level of RS?

in Necromancer

Posted by: TheLastNobody.8319

TheLastNobody.8319

DS is never going to be on the level of RS for a few reasons, one of which is elite specs were sold to us as these beastly class upgrades that change the way the class works and turns you into a god.

I mentioned this to someone else just before the recent DS “buff” and the patch that followed pretty much proved it. Its just not going to happen. What they might do is allow DS be used even if you have Reaper line active.

Elite specs were meant to be sidegrades and ways to play the profession differently than normal, not upgrades. Unfortunately ANET can balance about as well as a sinking ship so that’s what a lot of elite specs came out as.

Luckily the way reaper functions and works is less of an addition and more of a complete overhaul in comparison to Chronomancer and berserker and a couple of others which merely gave them an additional mechanic on top of the base class mechanic.

Onto topic, The fundamental difference between DS and RS is simply the fact one is ranged and one is melee. Melee gives you more reward for the risk due to the fact when in melee range you’re more vulnerable to things like AoE, cleave, and the like. At Range, you can dodge these or see them coming a bit better. Because of this DS will never have the rewards RS has such as stability and I’d even say we were lucky to get Death’s Charge on Reaper. What DS needs really are way to keep the enemy engaged and in our “Death Zone” as ANET likes to call it. This can be with fears, immobilizes, Teleports, etc. But DS will never unfortunately have RS stability or damage capabilities just simply because it is ranged DPS.

Bristleback/reaper chill nerfs

in PvP

Posted by: TheLastNobody.8319

TheLastNobody.8319

Reaper was nerfed first weeks after HoT release, so shut up!

Deathly chill trait was BUFFED in the first week of November. Blighter’s boon received a well deserved nerf and deathly chill still need its damage shaved by another 20-30%.

I agree BB needed a nerf but all their change did was make the spite line mandatory since reapers and base necro have next to no boon generation. If they made it so it was when we applied conditions, it would’ve made much more sense and kept build options open other than deathly chill, which I agree even as reaper, 15% is negligible at best and hardly affects anything.

This needed to happen. It was too much damage on an AI

Even if said ai is a skill that had to be activated by the player, and said AI also accounts for a good chunk of that professions damage, which they have hardly anymore control over than a necromancer’s minions?

With the lack of stability, blocks and blinds, core necro is by all signs a zoning type profession. However it lacks the tools to fulfill this, it needs a bit of mobility tied to enemy positioning OR more ways to limit enemy movement and even force them into an engagement from range. This can be done with pulls, immobilized, and even on target teleports similar to judge’s intervention. Even when first discussing necromancer, we were supposed to be a class that, once people engaged became supremely hard to get away from.

Don’t worry, they’ll get to it in a couple of years, after they get done with the various nerfs and PvP amulet removals. I mean bug fixes aren’t that high a priority.

Well, guess this is a start. Let’s hope they hurry up and remove all amulets and runes so they actually have to start balancing and fixing classes and specializations and traitsfor all game modes.

I find it ironic how the most useful legend is the most boring one introduced with the elite spec.

But yeah, try other legend combos, they are all fun and viable in certain aspects, I love ventari/mallyx and Jalis/ventari. If the legend mechanic operated more like the elementalist attunements I think every legend would finally be able to shine.

Itzel. The goop thing sounds nice but it’s only against one type of enemy. Meanwhile the adrenal mushrooms will benefit you in all zones.

Meta events of 2 hours long, are killing the pve game.

As long as they are fun and challenging i’m okay with spending 2 hours. And yes i think VB,AB and TD are really fun meta events. It finally takes some sort of organization to do large content in Gw2 unlike before.

This I do agree with. The only problem I find really is the Megaserver system putting people into empty maps, heck I once was commanding DS and then the game came up saying it was going to close map and move us to a more populated one in an hour…..WE WERE FULL!

worst fight for me is probably lupi, or even just the dang inquest in Arah’s second path. All the dang stuns and those risen deadeyes….

I know its an opinion, but I’m curious why exactly you think lupi is the worst fight?
It has pretty much everything that makes a boss fun and challenging imo, only downside to it is the high amount of bugs.
Also if you actually know the mechanics of deadeyes they are the easiest thing in the game, since they pretty much only do 1 attack (and a kick that barely does any damage).

Back on topic : smokescales

Oh no, as a boss fight I will agree lupi is great and I get a great amount of satisfaction when I beat him. When i read worst fight I took it as the one you have most trouble with. When me and my buddy duo him (and I’d say he does most of the work as he regularly solos him every day) and he focuses me down for 2-3 minutes straight until I’m out of defensive resources.

And yeah deadeyes aren’t that big of a problem, it’s just when they are paired with inquest or the risen….can’t remeber it name but it plants a banner and makes a guardian bubble.

Zhaitan fight was just very disappointing, and to this day the instance for it is just super buggy and horrible for me. And since they nerfed it so hard they took any hint of a challenge out of it, I just…. don’t like it at all. I don’t mind -how- we kill him in the end, just, the entire set up for it could have been better. More epic, less annoying sitting around and waiting.

I am starting to get the vibe maybe Arah was meant to be another playable area for people at first but they just ran out of time, plus the fact you have area’s like zhaitan a tower and such in that instance that you cannot access. Plus zhaitan himself seemed so small to be a dragon that, when awoken brought up the entire nation of Orr from the depths of the ocean. At least the mordremoth fight set up a good template for how to do future dragon fights.

For me it’s helping to turn the tides on what many may perceive as a botched event like auric basin and tequatl, or dragon’s stand. I love love love commanding, but I’m so kitten afraid I’m gonna screw up something cause I took a break. I helped first command DS back when both groups would attack preservers and pods but when I came back and did that Oi did I get flamed. Still first group done though once I figured out wtf was going on. -_-

Revs Squichy?

Hey guys, I’ve been playing rev for a few days, and I die like at least once every quest..even relying on Shiro’s healing crystals im still taking lots of damage..Im level 20 so far but I dont die that much on my Necro =(

Same problem I had coming from rev to necro, the shiro heal should only ever be used with unrelenting assault to help guarantee that you’ll get healed, or as a direct damage buff. Mallyx heal is also pretty decent and will help you manage conditions. So try mallyx/shiro rev until you get herald as it has the best heal I think.

Also don’t think like a normal necromancer player, rev is a combination of knowing when you can tank, have to evade and managing your resources while necro has deathshroud to help it cope with damage. You’re just not used to not having a second health bar you can use to help soak up damage, you’ll get used to it.

Correct me if i’m wrong, the mesmers crying here expect to have nearly 100% alacrity uptime specially with 2x phantasms from shield AND buff everyone else AND deal massive amounts of damage?
you know you could always try using other phantasms and other utility spells, right?

btw, DPS meter is surely official and reliable and people care about dmg output only. would be fun to see druids whine about not doing so-claimed 27k+ DPS while healing.

That’s not what mesmers want at all. What mesmers want is to having something no other class can do that will make them wanted and more than just a veil or portal Bot, be it DPS, utility, survivability, whatever. It’s the exact same position us necromancers were in before reaper came along and got buffs out the wazoo.

Now I do agree alclarity and quickness are incredibly powerful buffs that need to be monitored carefully. But Anet’s carpet bomb of a nerf to the chronomancer profession did nothing to fix core Mesmer issues that bleed over into the Chronomancer Elite specialization.

To visualize it, ANET chopped off the Top of the weed but didn’t fix the root.
