So I take it you are going balls deep into mesmer cond removal ? Which would mean, having to take mesmers for FOTM.. I’d rather take another war or guard.
I’d rather think you’re trolling.
Shattered Conditions is only 5 extra trait points. I don’t do Fractals at all anymore, though, but I’ve never had a problem with Mesmers. I think they are fine.

We’re currently working with a 0/15/0/25/30 build (props to Nikaido) to spam Fire Fields for our ele.
Dunno if we’re losing vulnerability too much though, people should test that…

30/0/0/10/30 doesn’t lose Berserker’s Power.
Dunno, wouldn’t 30/10/0/0/30 be more useful for the vuln stacking?
You’ll generally only have Fury, Might and Protection up 100%, with 1 or 2 occasional extra boons. So that’s 6-10% extra damage, for you personally.
Whereas, if you can’t maintain 25 vulnerability stacks, you lose those damage % over the whole party.

Yarp, Warrior’s DPS is taking a small hit, might be enough to warrant swapping us out for a thief or DPS guard. Haha whilst I doubt I’ll be putting as much thought and effort into it as you guys I’m looking forward to today/tomorrow’s patch (it’s almost the 26th here, I forget how far behind America is :P
The Axe autoattack chain’s DPS was increased overall I believe, but it depends on Triple Chop (which isn’t really a problem). You’ve also got access to Heightened Focus with an Axe build, and Axe abilities have cooldown reduction when traited accordingly, and you can use Eviscerate a bit more throughout fights and gain Adrenaline back fairly quickly. So no, Warrior DPS isn’t really taking a hit. Warriors also bring party-wide Fury and Might (as well as Banners) so I don’t see Thieves and Guardians replacing them.
Did you consider you would lose Attack of Opportunity (or Berserker’s Power) if you choose to go deep in discipline for Heightened Focus? I doubt I will want to take that trade myself but we will see.

Actually, not really. The squeeze theorem says that if x, y and z are 3 functions and x < y < z for all values of x, y and z (with < actually being lesser than or equal), then the limit of y is going to lie between the limit of x and the limit of z.
If x and z are functions and x < y < z for all values, and the limit of x and z is “Flooded”, then the limit of y = “Flooded”, but it’s pretty clear that the limit of y = “Flood”, therefor, x < y < z must not be correct, so the squeeze theorem doesn’t apply.

I didn’t play Guild Wars 1. And I’m starting to wonder if Anet played it, because I’ve heard that it was quite different compared to Guild Wars 2.
There are only 3 people on the current Anet team that worked on GW1. All the others left for other companies or flat out quit.
So, yeah, that explains a lot…
Not saying GW2 is a bad game. The problem is that it has a lot of potential that’s not being put to good use, especially since they only have to look at the predecessor for things that worked back then and compare it to things that don’t work in GW2 and implement them…
Only 3 people? God save us all.

i dont intend to join another guild for speed runs as of now but i have at least 5 other friends that play so we can pretty much always make our own party for dungeons or just find 1 extra. I guess we dont really try to speed run them though, more just farm them for the tokens etc or plan to.
it kinda sounds like if you wanna do serious pve stuff its zerk builds with the favoured profs. if its casual, do whatever is fun.
Casuals have the benefit of not being able to give a flying kittenkittenpisskittenkitten about what to do or how fast to do it, which is nice for them. It can avoid stress in certain situations, but adds it in to others. Just a trade off and personal preference of what to do and how to do it.
Youtube Channel – http://www.youtube.com/t3llularman
Berserker’s stats really just offer the highest damage output for every situation you could ever face in PvE.
False. Rampager’s or Traveler’s will let you do more damage on the Nightmare Tree as a necromancer, because the combination of power and condition damage will add more than just the primary power from Berserkers and you don’t crit on it, but you do condition damage.
Might wanna change that to “almost every situation you could ever face in PvE.”
(Sorry, couldn’t resist)
I’ll give you that one. Thanks Obama.
Youtube Channel – http://www.youtube.com/t3llularman
Well, did you play GW1? Because like I said, it was a system that worked really well. It revolved a lot around supply and demand, with the mediocre skins that dropped from mostly easy dungeons becoming really cheap and the awesome skins that only dropped from the harder dungeons being worth quite a bit. That way people actually went out of their way to do the harder dungeons, and it fostered a really big PUG scene where PUGs actually bothered learning new stuff. Yes, you could get carried and yes there were sh*tters, but it’s still better than what we have now: people only running the easiest stuff, that happens to be the most rewarding as well.

is it viable for me to stick with my necro? im using scepter dagger at moment but i hate how scepters look
not even sure if i wanna attempt a legendary scepter.
i have a lvl 50ish guardian and elementalist. Guardian, Mesmer and Thief are the other 3 that interested me along with necro.
Dagger / Warhorn Necromancer with proper traits and Berserker’s gear does decent DPS, but it’s not close to a Warrior or Guardian. If you aren’t going for world record speed clears it would probably be fine and fun to play, but you will most definitely catch flak for playing a Necromancer.
i see alot of people always using zerk builds with most profs, is it really needed? does it not leave you very squishy? at the moment im in a carrion set. i think it was primary condition damage stat with power n vit which i thought was pretty good.
i also keep hearing the necros are meant to get a buff but i dont know where i can read about upcoming changes. i just wish my necro would stack a few more conditions, the poison doesnt seem to stack and so its just bleed all the time.
Necromancers have a high health pool as it is, and stats like Toughness or Vitality don’t do much considering not dodging will still get you killed. You can’t really tank anything in PvE, you are meant to dodge high-damage attacks. Necros don’t have any sort of reliable means to gain Vigor either, so dodging needs to be thought out when playing one. Condition damage is also pretty worthless in PvE too, especially if you factor in 5 other people competing to stack the same condition. Berserker’s stats really just offer the highest damage output for every situation you could ever face in PvE.

No, I think he means that he’d also like that there are unique weapons that drop only from a specific dungeon that are sellable, on top of the tokens. It worked really well in GW1, and I support the idea as well.
Fractal skins were a good idea. So were dungeon recipes. I don’t think that adding more RNG to Guild Wars 2 is going to make it any better off, there’s enough of it already.

What dungeons are really missing is the actual incentive to play them. There are no unique drops from dungeon bosses specific only to them, like for example Voltaic Spear or Frog Scepter in GW1. These gave players a huge motivation to farm and play the dungeons again.
We’ve seen some of that unique rewards with LS dungeons, hopefully the original ones will be redesigned in the same way.
So you would prefer RNG cosmetic items to being able to save dungeon tokens in order to get a set of armor with a unique look or specific stats that you want?
Youtube Channel – http://www.youtube.com/t3llularman
I agree with Nikaido. But original post is a very bad suggestion, what if I have a bunch of friends who happen to be 2 rangers and 2 thieves or even 4 of the same class, should I be penalized for this group setup, also this is very much against the design philosophy of take the person you want not the class which was implemented very early in the design process to get rid of the traditional trinity. The fact that a new trinity of Warr, Mesm, Guard has been born in GW2 is a question of PvE balance and should be remedied through a class and skill balance changes not through some quirky forced rainbow class setup. (Also I hope that the upcoming update fixes some of this as I am sick of people asking for zerk warrs for every dungeon run)
If every class offered the exact same thing and group composition wasn’t a factor, what would be the point of different classes? In an environment where variety is a factor, there will always be something optimal to pick. That’s just reality.

He said they’re gonna update the dungeons through the living story. As in giving a meaning to the changes.
Correct! I think some of you are making assumptions that living world means the stuff we’ve done the last few months and that’s all you’re going to see. My point is saying we’ve seen folks feedback and are adjusting that strategy to include a much larger mix of permanent updates going forward.
Dungeons will be part of this strategy, living world teams will be doing work on our permanent dungeons rather than them being ignored, the types of things you’re asking for will be rolled into living world updates to give a reason for them happening in the world. It simply means we’re going to be doing more of exactly what you’re asking for here in this thread, but under the context of a story of why it happens in the world, rather than just magically have it appear (as happened with AC).
Hope that helps a bit, I’m actually agreeing with a lot you, apparently that wasn’t clear enough!
Edited to add: We also plan to do a lot of reward work across the board, including on our dungeons, but we’ll go into more specific detail on that in July as a comprehensive summary.
We don’t need meaning, we need results
At least give them a chance now that they’ve explained the game plan. Give them a month, see what happens. If things don’t get better, get the pitchforks out and light some fires.

The only thing I’m aware of that is “secret” in Arah is an event that takes place at the end of path 4. I don’t recall it giving a chest, and I don’t believe that the “bosses” drop anything either.
Either way, the event consists of you killing some risen, getting some machine parts, turning them into a Vigil repair man, watching him repair a canon, and using the canon to blow up 3 Legendary Risen Giants. You can find it in the valley below the Champion Risen Knight after defeating Simin. You’ve probably been trolled.

The GW2 subreddit is the biggest gathering of care bears outside of Care-a-lot. It’s truly a fantastic reflection of the GW2 community at large, because they salivate over every single offering from the gem store and ready their torches and pitchforks at anyone who is critical of the devs or general direction of the game.
That is truly depressing.
It’s actually a quite constructive environment where a lot more interesting ideas are discussed than here. When you post something about how to improve dungeons here in the official forums, most of the time 3 seconds later the kittenstorm begins. “Anet has promised… they are lazy,…. Bla”.
People on these forums are honest in expressing their frustration and irritated at the lack of results towards making better PvE content. That’s at least something I can sympathize with, and being obscene or mad usually makes for an interesting read. The Reddit community in general is filled with people that think they are clever, think making obvious puns and childish jokes are humor, and think that getting their post upvoted will save something that they hold to an artificial standard because they can’t look upon the reality of what it is. The GW2 subreddit is the same, and I hate posting there and reading the posts of feeble-minded imbeciles. I expect you to disagree with me, I expect a lot of people to, but at least you can’t downvote me to oblivion here because I’m being honest.
Youtube Channel – http://www.youtube.com/t3llularman
If you never pugged the new AC enough to get a pug that does kholer (most pugs won’t do him) you cannot understand. In our type of groups the adds die in a matter of seconds, in pugs.. well..
The adds have low hp, but some of these (ranger, necromancer) can deal a ton of damage if you don’t kill them. And pugs aren’t even trying to kill the adds. Using greatsword pull on guardian or focus pull on mesmer is meaningless, all pugs have people using ranged weapons on kholer so any attempt at focus firing both kholer and the adds is going to fail particularly as said pug tend to be aggro magnets so any attempt at making good use of melee cleave is fail. And then even if you call target on an add almost none of the pugs will actually try to hit it and will keep all their attention on kholer instead. Then the adds keep on adding chipping damage over chipping damage, and sometimes another wave of adds spawn and you get 4 of these mob in the room and the group lacks the dps to kill them or kholer quickly. So, like the rest of the new AC, the fight is easier with a good melee group (kholer has less hp, you rally on adds if you missed a dodge against kholer etc), but it’s also much harder if you join any sort of random pug. The whole fight completely goes against the way pugs play. They focus kholer at range, the adds won’t die/get hit by anyone in the group and you get more and more adds spawning per 25% of hp down on kholer.
Fair enough. It’s probably more a testament to training players to be lazy rather than it is to making Kholer harder. But you make a good point, and it makes sense.

At this point, they need to take all dungeons out of the game so people doing them can move onto another MMO, reduce the game world to Lion’s Arch, build a Fashion Show runway outside of the bank for people to AFK on, and allow us to browse the trading post and gem store from our iPhones. This is the only way to save Guild Wars 2.
Youtube Channel – http://www.youtube.com/t3llularman
They need to fix the issues with loot in Fractals along with adding a means to convert rings / tokens to weapons skins before they go about adding new Fractals.

But then again, he technically did get harder. No adds vs respawning adds, no adds will always be easier
I wouldn’t want to fight Mossman without wolves.
Yeah, okay, but that fight was made with the wolves in mind.
I was specifically talking Kohler.
Like it was mentioned before, I think that they only put in the adds so people could rally off of them. I don’t think they were included to make things harder. It may just be the notion that they are there that makes Kholer seem harder.

Also did LordByron leave after he realized he was wrong?
He stepped on his club foot again.
Before the AC change, we actually used to kill Kohler because it was easy silver. Now, we never bother anymore because he’s such a pain.
What? How did it get harder? The adds die to cleave and don’t really serve a purpose other than for the devs to say that they made changes.
Youtube Channel – http://www.youtube.com/t3llularman
They’re probably giving up on dungeons in their current incarnation. They tried to fix AC in a way they honestly thought would make things more fun, and instead they made the dungeon even worse.
I feel they’ll just leave dungeons like that and work on a much better dungeon system when it’s the time to build their first expansion.
They made the dungeons worse by implementing actual mechanics after training the community to autoattack HP sponges. If dungeons had real mechanics to begin with, it wouldn’t really have been a huge deal, but now you have people that don’t know what stunbreakers are or how to use stability, and they don’t do AC because anymore because it requires them to think, all of which was probably reinforced by the old AC.

This is old but it will probably still help you. Path 4 is pretty easy after all of the nerfs.
Easy enough that I could change from my “Monk” to my Ranger for the DPS part?
I’ve been meaning to get this out of the way, but I’ve always avoided it b/c it’s just not in my budget or interest to make a secondary set of Exo’s & “Furnace” build for my Guar. (it’s a long term goal, but right now I just don’t have the time/space).My only other option… is a DPS focused Necro I’m building but that’ll take a week
You can pretty much do everything in the game with whatever classes or builds that you want. Path 4 isn’t hard anymore, it’s just longer than all of the other paths because of the number of bosses and things to do. If you take Rangers, Necros, whatever else, it won’t go as smoothly or quickly as our run in the video, but it’s not like it’s going to be impossible. If you can find a group, just go ahead and try it.

Then you are correct: you are just a self-proclaimed elitist that isn’t really elite in any way, shape, or form. I can be a self-proclaimed elitist without being really elite myself. I even found many of so-called “elitist” in dungeon groups, and often times, they aren’t even really elite: died most of the time, died the first in the group, and when he left, the one that replaced him made us complete the dungeon. Now, I am not saying that self-proclaimed elitist are not elite at all, just saying, anyone can be a self-proclaimed elitist.
So this is my dungeon group, I was one of the Mesmers in this video. Perhaps you’ve heard of us?

Someone else has to be amused this is up on top with the other thread titled “Catering to Casuals is Ruining GW2”.
I guess they are topics that generate attention. The other one seems to include a lot more complaining, though, specifically about how casuals are ruining the game. I was really only saying that my approach to a casual game ruined the experience for me in the long run. Maybe if I had chosen another game instead I’d still be having fun, but Guild Wars 2 looked fun and kept me entertained for awhile, that’s why I bought it and stuck with it for ~2500 hours. I don’t have a vendetta against casual gamers, they want something to do just like I do. I look for increasing difficulty while constantly playing a game, casual gamers seem to be content with a more static environment that they only experience for maybe an hour a day, or even an hour a week.
There’s also sort of an in between from what I’ve observed, the members of my old guild seemed to be in that boat. They played for a few hours a day, but didn’t really care about doing dungeons over and over or learning new strategies, so I left and found a guild that was focused on that. I don’t really have a problem with any of those people, we just had a different style of play. It irritated me sometimes, but I still had fun playing with them when I was a member. Their approach may be better to a game like Guild Wars 2 is than an approach like I have, it may keep the game interesting to them longer than it managed to for me. Although, I don’t really see them online anymore, so maybe they ran out of things to do as well. I’m not sure what the case is.
I don’t really think hating on someone (while being serious about it, at least) is really productive. I think it’s better off just to talk about differences in play style or whatever the case, then try and contribute to helping the devs improve the game. That’s sort of what I had in mind by creating this thread.

Can you (or Dub, haviz, whoeva) explain a bit on the best way to get to Lupi for a solo practice setup? Obal mentioned just having a guardian help you get to him on p2, but I personally haven’t seen it done and would like to start practicing this on my warrior.
You can solo path 2 pretty easily. That’s usually what I did.

Are you having fun? if yes, who cares about the reward.
If no, then leave as why play a game you dont find fun.If you only run content if it rewards you, then you are not really enjoying it. So why bother at all?
Why oh why is this “argument” coming up in every topic I seem to read?
Let me get this one straight. Just because people complain, doesn’t mean they don’t have fun. It actually means that they care. They express criticism and point out flaws. These flaws might just be true for a small part of the community, but that doesn’t make their opinion wrong, and neither does the flaw cease to exist.
I too love this game. I love the lore and the world and the books. But it has flaws. Be it the non-existent difficulty, the RNG issues or the grind required to obtain certain items (yes legendaries, I am looking at you).People enjoy different parts about games. Most like to win. A lot like to try and get better and improve. Lots of people play to relax. Others are achievement hunters. And then there are those who like to be rewarded for completing difficult content, or content at all. The latter are probably those that like to win and / or improve, since winning in a PvE environment isn’t really… possible.
So if certain aspects are missing in the game, the affected part of the community will raise their voices in concern, pointing out a possible flaw, which might lead to improvements. That’s a good thing. And it should by no means be answered with “just quit if you don’t like it”. That’s ignorance.
It was not an if you dont like it quit post.
It was pointing out that content shoudl be fun in and of itself. If you need rewards to run it, then why run it at all? since you are effectively needing an incentive to bother?
Oh! More quotes:
“If you’re good at something, never do it for free” – The Joker
Why can’t we enjoy hard content and still be rewarded for it? If I want to do something just to feel good about doing it, I’d go help homeless people and orphans all day. Instead, I prefer to play video games, have fun playing them, and get to show off (with armor or weapons) to other people that also play.
