My guild has attempted this meta event for a long time, and we finally managed to beat it, and I’d say a majority of our attempts have featured this bug in the Rata Novus lane. It seems that what happens is the Chak Gerent moves under one of the laser drones that occupy the lane and gets nearly immediately killed by it. The Gerent managed to be just off screen when this happened in this particular video (the time stamp is about 4:15 if you want to see it), but when I turn my camera to face it, there is a laser drone flying right over him. I’m not sure if this has been reported already, or if it’s already well-known, but this has happened on at least 3 or 4 of our attempts in the past week. Anyways, here is a link to the video:

Have we checked to see if Phantasms are still affected by traits that cause them to do more %damage? Is it possible Phantasms are just bugged in general?

I did CoF 1/2 and HotW 1 with them. It was pleasantly surprising.

I’m looking for a group like this, too. Do you mind if I join you guys?

I kind of like Nike’s ideas, but 100% chance for an Ascended gear box that lets you pick stats is pretty hardcore. However, I imagine that at that point, it would be for an alt or something as you’d likely have to be on a character with max Ascended stuff anyways.

You say “abused the crud” out of it.
Boss has a projectile based attack. Players have skills that reflect projectiles. Using said skills to reflect the projectiles is called, “playing the encounter as intended” as far as I am concerned. It’s highly troubling that you consider using projectile reflection skills against projectiles to be “abuse.” Perhaps you should spending some time reflecting on how your point of view is so skewed?
Omg

Don’t worry guys, I’m actually being serious this time. Nerf this spider PLEASE
Youtube Channel – http://www.youtube.com/t3llularman
Like seriously. I haven’t done this path in months because this fight is so broken now. It does too much damage and it’s literally impossible to do without wiping.

Simin can be solo’d by standing behind a rock and going AFK. Not really impressive, honestly probably the opposite.
Youtube Channel – http://www.youtube.com/t3llularman
There is a pretty huge champion pool in LoL, but not a huge selection of dungeon paths in GW2. Banning paths would probably just result in us seeing even more of the same thing. The only way I would really care to allow paths to be banned were if Arah Story and Arah path 4 were added as viable picks.
Youtube Channel – http://www.youtube.com/t3llularman
There seemed to be quite big home path advantage (you will very likely win your path even against a better team) so if you mess up on your path it’s pretty much over.
SC did well in paths that other teams selected, and rT has had pretty much every Arah path 3 record I can remember, as well as being the first guild I can recall to see stealth past the mobs at the gate. That didn’t prevent them from choking and snowballing their mistakes, though.
I usually understand your logic and agree with your points, but I honestly can’t even find the beginning of either in almost all of your posts in this thread. I think there was probably some initial arrogance on rT’s part, maybe the feeling of “we don’t need to practice, we are already better than everyone else” also probably coupled with an actual lack of time to practice. I’ve also heard, pretty much since the beginning of time, that in a lot of cases each member of an rT group treats the dungeon like they are soloing, so you don’t have a group working together, but rather 5 people working alone in the same relative area. I don’t exactly know what happened, I was disappointed to say the least, because I know that plenty of members of your guild are good players. Whatever it was that went on, I don’t think that the no res rule is the solution, because I can see plenty of other potential problems that should probably be addressed first and would have been trivial if they had been taken care of beforehand.
Youtube Channel – http://www.youtube.com/t3llularman
I liked the wipe rule, I think it really helped to demonstrate to people what going for a record run can be like, and I think it really helped to show that even some of the best guilds make mistakes and that they are probably mostly human. I liked that the risk was massive, and restarts or teams knowing that they could always just reset the instance wouldn’t have made it as intense to watch. I also like that bugs probably got some more attention than they otherwise would have, and I think that progress being stopped like that makes it that much more of a glaring issue that needs to be fixed. Overall, the wipe rule simply puts more pressure on guilds and it’s honestly just entertaining to see who can deal with it and who can’t, and how things can continue on or fall apart after someone dies. I think it also does a good job to showcase how valuable certain classes or certain skills can be, namely reflection.
I also wanted to say thank you to the people working behind the scenes, getting all of the teams set up and in position and ensuring that the tournament ran as smoothly as possible. You guys were amazing, thank you for your work.
I also want to thank Nike and Dek for their great jobs shoutcasting and letting me come along for that, hopefully I didn’t drive anyone too crazy with Gemstore hype or sleep deprived pepperoni pizza jokes, or even my dreadfully monotone voice. Another huge thank you to KaboomzZz for making the graphics for the tournament and for hanging out in the channel with us and talking to the stream, especially for the game code giveaways that were a fantastic touch. I had an absolutely amazing time, and am definitely looking forward to the next tournament.
PS – I really do miss Robert Hrouda and wish that he was still around to give us some new content.

Here’s a scenario:
- You put Burning on with your Warrior
- The heroic Staff Guardian comes along and uses Virtue of Justice
- Everyone applies their own burning, yours goes away.
Same with bleeds, they just go on in the order they are applied. You’ll be competing for bleed stacks with everyone else.
THIS IS WHY CONDITION DAMAGE BUILDS ARE NOT VIABLE IN GROUPS

Ive been on dnt forum… Kind of surprizes me the different attitude on there… None of my business tho
What?
Youtube Channel – http://www.youtube.com/t3llularman
The general idea I’m thinking of is:
- Staff Ele
- LH Ele
- EA Warrior
- Engineer
- Ranger
Ranger / Engineer probably have enough reflects for most things, Engineer has stealth, basically replaces Guardian and Thief. That frees up a slot for Ranger, so you get access to Spotter and Frost Spirit. Does it work in every situation? No, but i think it’s probably a good general template

Hi, I’m back from the shadows again. I had a post prepared, and in the middle of typing it, I figured out how to solve the problem. Basically, the meta is about to change, and Guang is right.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a video where Guanlai proves his claims, while I’ve seen plenty from dub etc
Yeah, that’s what the “anchor guardian” proponents said too, and that’s why today no one runs anything but 3 DPS warriors, 1 anchor guard, and 1 mesmer (purely for the Timewarp).
I have no idea why this is brought up repeatedly, the only people I know ever running an anchor guardian were the DnT team in Strifes videos, in a time where one barely had a part of today’s encounter knowledge.
Strife and Guang used to argue a lot on Guild Wars 2 Guru, and “anchoring” was a big topic of discussion. People would listen to Strife because he posted videos and had a reputation, and everyone would make fun of Guang and trash talk because he couldn’t be bothered to / was unable to post a video. Strife was wrong, something that I figured out as well after I started playing Warrior and noticed things aggro to me over the Guardian. Guang also finally convinced me to seriously try Ranger in the 3 Warrior, 1 Guardian, 1 Mesmer meta, and I saw that Ranger could actually be useful. Guang has always been a fan of calculating and spreadsheets / whatever, and I don’t really think that’s a bad way of going about things. But, there are things that I do have to disagree with like Mesmer being the top DPS while it maintains 3 Swordsmans (which is never going to be practical, and I don’t know if it’s an idea he still supports). I don’t think Guang has a consistent group to make videos with, I’m not sure that his solo-play ability is quite up to what some of you may be (I’ve played with him before, he’s not bad, I just don’t think he spends as much time as you). I think the problem comes in, or at least it used to, when Guang would calculate something and then tell us about it, and refuse to show his math or post any sort of other evidence, but he would still expect people to believe him. I don’t think that approach will cause points he makes to come across as anything other than ridiculous, even if they happen to be valid. Posting a video is usually enough to convince someone (look at Nemesis, for example), and most people don’t really seem to care about math. I wouldn’t disregard what Guang says simply because he’s saying it, but I’d test it for awhile in different situations and see if you notice a difference or if clear times are consistently slower or faster. That’s also asking a lot, because you are basically testing his ideas for him and will likely be rewarded with “I told you so,” but maybe it’s worth doing just to know. Anyways, back into the shadows for me.

I don’t know about the rest of the people that were a part of the 5 minute run, but I wanted to do it for the sole purpose of trolling Rose’s autism. I’d say it worked, because as far as I know, any guild that carries relevance considers him to be a sad little worm.

All of the potions were fixed with the update on Tuesday, but the release note got missed. It was while I was confirming that the fix went out that I spotted the issue with the Scarlet’s Armies potion, so that got fixed in the later update.
Can you get them from Shadow Behemoth just like Final Rest? Or are they not in the game yet either?

Offhand Axe is bad because skill 5 does very little damage and skill 4 is worthless considering you already have permanent Fury from Signet of Rage and For Great Justice. If you don’t want to use Greatsword, use Axe / Mace and Axe / Sword / Warhorn. Warhorn is better suited for trash mobs because you can apply Weakness, and you still have the knockdown from Mace. Sword is better suited for boss fights. You also keep 5% damage with Sword offhand.

I think he meant that GW2 does not have Dungeons programmer/designer since Robert Hrouda left. The whole dungeon aspect of the game has been left to rot in the past months with no feedback from developers, only moderator visit the subforum to remove post asking for answer/suggestion/etc.
Oh… i didn’t know that. So… we have nobody for dungeons right now? That’s sad. It could explain why one of the end-game content is being lacking of love.
Thanks for the info, Trice.
Robert Hrouda got put on the Living Story team after the AC disaster, leaked information that there was no longer a Dungeon Team, revealed to a few people that his higher ups told him not to post on the forums anymore, and was fired soon after apparently due to not liking the direction the Living Story was taking things.
Basically, there is no dungeon team, and the only dungeon updates that will occur (aside from putting in the occasional invisible wall that players can still jump over) will be through the Living Story in a way that is relevant, IE the horrible Aetherpath or temporary Molten Facility.

1. You have 18-19k health depending on WvW bonuses and you can usually take at least one hit from something like Archdiviner or Mossman at FotM 49.
2. Yes, but you can just retrait if you don’t like it. You can also have multiple armor sets.
3. Experienced parties don’t really have problems with people dying, at least not usually. You’d be better off just using 30/25/0/0/15 with Berserker’s armor and getting used to playing, although you will go down a bit while learning to play. Just give it time.
4. There’s no point in a hybrid build like that. You don’t have enough Precision to make a difference. You don’t really need Soldier runes with Healing Signet, either.
You honestly don’t even need Knight’s pieces. It’s just a waste of money on something like a Warrior, but it’s reasonable on a Guardian since you have so little health. Warrior has a spammable block on offhand Sword, so you could just use Greatsword and Axe / Sword with an Energy Sigil in the Sword.

Youtube Channel – http://www.youtube.com/t3llularman
Whats so funny about that?
Another thing that should be considered for the rules is the discussion of individual paths.
Not to make rules for special occasions, but to make them so they’re clear for every path.Example: Arah P3, skipping the gate with stealth. Imo this shouldn’t be legit, since it’s clearly not intended. Same goes for CoE (the gate that opens after choosing a path)
On the other side, things as going backwards into the “boss-bubble” in Arah P2 is fine for me, since you can’t deal damage before it disappears, you only save milliseconds, if even.
Making the rules as white-knightly as you can and trying to determine what was “intended” is foolish.

I really like the thought of finally having exploit-free-speedclears.
Not only does it involve more skill, it also (most likely) will get the competition up.
