The problem I have with the PvP in Guild Wars 2 is that it’s a tacked-on feature that AREENET is trying to market as the game’s primary focus. The most successful Esports are intrinsically competitive games in that their primary game mode is pvp-based. See: LoL, StarCraft/StarCraft 2, CounterStrike. Guild Wars 2 is not like this.

GW2 PvP and WvW are horrible.

Any build that involves GS is not better than only using Sword.

The problem I have with Greatsword is that it’s not actually good at bursting. The autoattack is bad, Whirling Wrath is bad, Binding Blades is bad as a DoT, and the Symbol isn’t even that great. You’ll also have to take a Perception Sigil, so you would really be better off just using Sword with Bloodlust stacks and making sure you crit 100% of the time. Using a rotation on Guardian between Greatsword and Sword means that you’ll be lowering your DPS while you think you are bursting.

I prefer Assassin’s Creed boss fights. Those are very challenging, way more than GW2 is.

A DPS check is a DPS check whether or not you suck. I don’t think might, fury, or anything really would have allowed you to defeat old simin in Dire. Maybe if you nailed the sparks every time.

Show me an rT video of beating the current Simin in full Dire stats. (I’m seeing 5 ele’s and FGS haha)

i did simin prenerf in december last year when i played gw2 for 3 weeks (1 week after my first char hit 80) with a pug and we used knights/pvt.

I feel like I’m one of the only people who wants the current TA explorable to be completely nuked and replaced. IMO the only thing it had going for it was the environmental design. It lacked good boss mechanics (except the 1st wurm boss to some extent), had a story which really didn’t add anything or matter (3 nightmare court leaders simply trying to take control after Faolin), and had those annoying poison flowers everywhere.

That isn’t to say there aren’t worse dungeons though (looking at you HotW and CM).

If he resets its because you have gotten out of combat. I have pulled lupi out of those doors when testing some things, so the doors are not the issue. The issue seems to be all party members are either all dead/out of combat. Stay in there at throws some dps his way.

Im taking about the burrow event where you find the first piece of the scepter, where you have to keep Hodgins alive. How you solo that I’m not sure, neither how to continue the path without doing it and without exploits

Here is a strat for fighting nigthmare tree if you failed the first attempt, and the spiders have swarmed around him.

Our setup was Guardianx2 war x2 ranger x1

After a few failed attempts, the spiders were everywhere and there were no way for us to fight him up close.
Luckely our guardian was fully geared ptv.

We succeded having the ptv guardian kite around the nightmare tree with all the spiders (carrying staff for aoe,speed and walls).
The rest of us stood in the tunnels, strafing back and forth while using range attacks to bring the boss down.
Second guardian would clear conditions on allies strafing to dodge the range attacks of nightmare tree and to boost the guardian kiting.

If ure stuck on spiders that have spawned, this might work for you. It sure did for us. Wish i had streamed it.

I dunno, the sheer amount of reflects you can chain (since pugs aren’t going to LoS and burst behind a wall of reflection) is a life saver in my experience.

If you’re talking about pure pug runs, it could be, but the problem that mesmers encounter in fractals is that a lot of time is spent on cleaving trash and their dps there is basically non existent (since mes dps = phantasm = they disappear after cast or when target dies = useless on endless waves of trash). Certainly I never felt thankful for a mesmer in the party when we hit things like the dredge fractal.

Been a while since I’ve ran dem fractals but everytime I went with a full dps group for a 48 (as opposed to taking something like mes that is really there mostly for the utility) it always went better. You can almost taste the joy when you do the dredge cart if your group is bringing the deeps. And I almost always got the dredge fractal when I ran fotm so..
Guardians bring both the utility and the dps. The mes doesn’t really have a place there.

lol, I dunno what Mesmers you’ve been playing with, but they sound pretty fail. Do they all stay in GS or Staff all the time?

Sword DPS is pretty kitten high (3rd highest in the game after Warrior/Thief), also most Phantasms do AoE damage. Focus can pull all mobs on 1 spot making them easily susceptible for AoE damage.

That being said, Guardian has way more and better reflect skills than Mesmer. On lvl 48 Volcanic Fractal it’s pretty much a must. It’s almost impossible to do Volcanic Fractal without reflects with pugs.
