Legendary Armor

That’s some nice heavy armor there, but I’m sort of curious what the light and medium armors will look like. Or is there just one type of legendary armor that is equippable on all classes.

The article states that light and medium armor aren’t as far developed yet to merit a showing off. So no, it’s not one type of legendary armor. It’s all 3 weight classes. And it will take a few more months to finish the other 2 types.

Actually I say elite spec: no. ANet has already confirmed that elite specilizations are a thing for expansions and won’t be released in the interim. Unless they change their mind about that, don’t expect to see new specs before the next expansion.

I really wonder if it’s possible to suggest anything on a game forum without people fighting you on it…

Thank you so very much for making my day… I’m gonna send you some in-game gold if I remember.

You do realise you are on an official ANet forum, where ANet can absolutely never do anything wrong, right? You do also realise that if it doesn’t involve separating you from your money in some way, they don’t actually care either, right?

This sounds a bit cynical and overdramatic. People aren’t fighting the suggestion. They’re giving their opinion on it, which in some cases happens to be an opposing opinion. If that is considered fighting then all people fight every day over the simplest and most trivial of things.

And because this is the official forum, ANet can never do anything wrong? There are so many threads on this forum complaining about things ANet has implemented. A few examples: the suspension of new legendary weapons, the Chalice of Tears JP, the lack of new armor sets against the many new outfits released, glider skins being solely gemstore items, the lack of new festival content, the game being too difficult, the game being too easy, etc. etc. One wonders if you even read the forum.

But back to OP’s post. Apparently there are a lot of people who don’t agree. They are allowed their opinion, just like you are allowed yours. Calling it “fighting your suggestion” would be equivalent to calling your suggestion “whining”, for instance (which I don’t consider whining, but I’m sure there are people who do). Yes, some things are accountbound, others are not. It is my opinion that exploration should be soulbound, not accountbound. Unlocking WP’s to the interesting places does not equate unlocking all WP’s, unless you find every corner of Tyria an interesting place. Exploration is part of playing the game.

Anyone who’s ever changed their main or leveled an alt can tell you: one of the most annoying things about it is not having any waypoints

This might have something to do with the opposition OP gets. He/she is claiming to speak for everyone who’s ever levelled an alt. I can only speak for myself, and with 15 characters and 10 world completions I can say that not having any WP’s is most certainly not the most annoying thing to me. In fact, it’s not in the least bit annoying at all. I combine exploration with other things, for example, first and foremost material gathering. Map completion rewards are another thing that motivate me to explore the maps on alts. And considering that WP’s are part of map completion, not getting any XP for them should not be the only “penalty”. Doing less work but still getting the same map completion rewards does not sound fair to me. The fact that people use a luxury item to circumvent part of the process means it should be reflected in the rewards you get.

This is the Halloween patch, and the only Halloween patch. Content is not going to change while the festival is active. Like you said, it’s all just your opinion. Conclusion: GW2’s Halloween festival is not your thing. I’m sure you’re not the only one. In fact, I’m pretty sure that for every single aspect in the game there is a number of players who don’t like it. They just can’t please everyone, nor should they try to. It’s a neverending disaster trying to please every single player in your community.

for example if you choose that route you can no longer get map completion at all for the character in question.

Punishment for being lazy. I like it. xD

In all seriousness, though. This is a roleplaying game. By that logic every character should unlock maps and the points on those maps themselves, not by some mechanic. The comparison to ascended gear etc. is like comparing apples and pears. Not the same thing.

Also, OP says it takes days to unlock all WP’s. His/her character must be walking instead of running around the maps. Because unlocking all WP’s (and only WP’s) should only take a few hours, unless you get sidetracked by events and mobs. But that’s a choice the OP makes, not something the game forces upon us. Personally, if I find something annoying (which is an entirely personal opinion and nowhere near objective or representative of the larger community) I just don’t do it.

Suggestion: New Legendary Longbow

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

TheNecrosanct.4028

In many cultures an eclipse is seen as a bad omen, a sign of ‘the end’ or apocalypse.

It is, in real life cultures. None of those have a place in Tyria. I haven’t noticed many superstitious ideas in the game and that’s just what this is: a superstition. There is no actual aspect of destruction tied to a solar eclipse. Even in those superstitions, the eclipse is just the omen, not the actual method of destruction people thought would occur. Personally I think a solar themed weapon would represent potential destruction better. The eclipse idea is still cool, though. Like I said, a lot can be done playing with light and shadow.

Well I guess stating that means that Halloween has no basis for what happens in game or any other holiday they translate into the game culture from ours. As for saying that the eclipse is just the omen is absolutely correct, along with every other weapon. They are visual symbols and the methods are hitting those 1-5 keys. Has anyone seen any longbow idea that is only from made up Tyria lore? I like the ten suns bow as well, tho that is from Chinese culture.

I understand what you’re getting at, but in all honesty Halloween is on a completely different level than eclipse superstitions. The Halloween/Samhain festival is a major happening in large parts of the world, particularly the US. The same goes for Christmas/Yule, which is an even more widespread holiday than Halloween is. Perhaps there are superstitions about eclipses in Tyria as well, though I don’t remember any eclipses in the story or people mentioning anything about it. Considering the legendary journeys have been scrapped for a more timely system to obtain precursors, the story element behind it fades away and we are left with just the visuals of the weapon. Again, an eclipse style bow would be cool, but I don’t see the destruction aspect of it. There is nothing destructive about an eclipse and it has never caused destruction on earth by itself. We are cast in shadow, that’s all. And that light/shadow play would be a cool effect for a legendary weapon, I agree. The solar flare effects would fit a weapon like Sunrise much better thematically.

Question…. how does an Eclipse represent Destruction?

It doesn’t. All it is, is shadowplay on a celestial scale. I’m guessing the solar flare visibility is what gave OP the feeling of destruction, but the only thing an eclipse does is make those visible to us without burning our retinas. The Bow of the Ten Suns idea sounds much more viable for a solar flare theme, and fits the destruction theme better, in my honest opinion.

I do like the idea for the longbow, though. An eclipse would work well, especially the diamond ring phase of an eclipse. There do seem to be a lot of visual effects for this idea, which might be overkill or too much to implement for ANet. I’d personally leave out the solar flare elements since they are unrelated to an eclipse. But the eclipse theme could make for a very cool shadowplay effect.

The Durmand Priory, of course. The Consortium is a mercantile company, only out to make money under the guise of pleasing their customers. In the past they have shown to make dubious and even outright stupid decisions. The vacation resort in Southsun Cove is a prime example. They only focus on profit and reputation, even abandoning their own when it suits their needs. A corporation like this will never, ever have my trust or my support, no matter the good things they might do along the way (like supporting Dessa and her Fractals krew). The fact that the merchant was so tight-lipped and unwilling to share information that is quite important to us also doesn’t help. And krait oil… I mean, come on…

No, the Durmand Priory has proven to be at our side all the way. Sure, they make mistakes. But we’re dealing with Elder Dragons and ancient magics. No one, not even Ogden, knows all there is to know. Archaeology and history aren’t exact sciences but more the science of interpretation, and things get lost over time. Cultures and habits change, making interpreting things from the past even more difficult. Under the circumstances I think they’ve assisted us quite well, and they’ve earned my trust for that.

Change Precursors to Account Bound

TheNecrosanct.4028

They’re just exotic weapons. They just happen to also be needed to make legendaries. There is literally no other benefit to them than that. Legendary and ascended gear do have added benefits. Anything but ascended and legendary tier gear will always be soulbound the moment you equip it to a character. I’m guessing it would be too much of a hassle to write the code so that only these specific exotic weapons remain accountbound upon equipping them, and not all gear of exotic quality. If you want the skins on other characters, just use transmutation charges.

Gliding skills.

in Living World

Posted by: TheNecrosanct.4028

TheNecrosanct.4028

You have seen the effect of these gliding skills, right? Can you imagine being able to use them anywhere? It would throw the whole balance of fight mechanics straight out of the window. I think it’s very good we can’t use these overpowered gliding skills anywhere else. In fact, as cool as I think the idea of gliding combat skills is, I would’ve been perfectly fine if they never implemented it in the game. The fact that mastery category is the same in both maps doesn’t have anything to do with it. The mastery categories between HoT and core Tyria maps are different, yet you can still use a set of mastery skills in core Tyria maps that originally come from another set of maps, one you can only learn in HoT. So that analogy isn’t working.

Apart from the that, the devs already explained why we don’t have the gliding skills in Ember Bay. It didn’t fit the theme of Ember Bay to have those gliding skills there, so they decided to leave them out. But the power of those skills is enough reason for me to not have them available in other maps. Let’s just say that all the excess magical energy from the bloodstone explosion that is wreaking havoc in Bloodstone Fen is the reason you have those skills, since it would require extraordinary skills at gliding to be able to turn, use lean techniques and use combat skills, all at the same time.

[Suggestion] Give SW a LFG category

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TheNecrosanct.4028

While it does fit the theme of meta maps having their own LFG categories, finding SW LFG’s isn’t hard. Practically all of them can be found in the Central Tyria – Squads section, and there’s always at least a few of them in there. I’ve been farming the map a lot for crests lately, for precursor collections, and it’s easy to hop from map to map after each Vinewrath and the subsequent champion run.

What I wish for more is a way for the tool to deal with outdated LFG’s. It happened more than once that I joined a “SW x%” map, only to find the Breach was already over, or worse, Vinewrath was already killed. And people don’t always respond to the request to change or remove their LFG. But it would require the LFG system to track the progress of the map the LFG is placed on, and alter the LFG description or remove it, and I can understand such a system is too complicated to implement, or will cause other problems that aren’t worth tackling.

Why no Risen?

Why should Zhaitan send his Risen to a Place thats completely hostile and has nothing to offer to him?

A bloodstone exists in Hell’s Precipice.

And how would that have helped Zhaitan?

Bloodstones are basically made of magic. Dragons EAT magic. See where I’m going with this?

There’s a bloodstone in Arah (you run into it at the end of path 4 of the dungeon) and he mostly left it alone.

That is not a bloodstone. It was in Arah that they split the original bloodstone into 5 pieces and locked magic inside those pieces so the Elder Dragons couldn’t get to it. Whenever you break a stone or jewel into pieces, small shards will come off. That’s what you find at the end of Arah p4: little shards of the bloodstone, but by no means a fullf-fledged bloodstone.

I disagree with the Legendary Weapon system

TheNecrosanct.4028

Legendaries in GW do not require you to “master” anything. You can skip PvP altogether by buying the Shards of Glory on the TP. You don’t need to master WvW, just find a zerg to tag along with. You don’t need to master PvE either. The more difficult PvE content that’s required for legendaries, like dungeons (not difficult, but I know they are to some) and Fractals (only applicable if you do the precursor collections) can still be done by letting yourself be carried by more experienced players. The closest you can get to showing mastery by having a legendary is Raids and legendary armor, since there’s no other way around it than by running Raids, and a lot of it.

Legendaries don’t mean the same in GW2 as they do in other MMO’s, because GW2 is not like most other MMO’s out there. They require you to engage in certain content but in no way does it require actual mastery of said content (barring the above mentioned exception; and even that becomes easy once you’ve done it enough times). GW2 is a casual friendly MMO with only a modicum of grind compared to other MMO’s, so it’s only logical that the legendary system reflects that. I think it would be cool if all 3 game modes had their own way of acquiring legendaries by playing that particular game mode 100%, so no one has to play a game mode they don’t want to. But what are we talking about here? There are only 5 legendary weapons that require you to play WvW. The others can all be obtained by grinding gold in PvE 100% of the time, without ever setting foot in the Borderlands, EB or EotM. But I’m guessing an endless gold grind isn’t what most people want either. I wonder how these people would fare in other MMO’s that offer legendary type gear.

Do you feel like playing with alts?

Why do so many people feel the need to equip their alts with ascended gear? It really makes barely any difference in open world PvE whether you’re exotic geared or ascended. Sure, you need it for higher level Fractals (not for the extra 5% but for the infusion slots, though). Depending on what group you join, it can also be demanded for Raids. But other than that exotic is more than fine.

Unless you’re a diehard WvW player, then I’d understand. But I don’t do much with that game mode so I don’t know if ascended is really that essential in WvW. All I do is a few solo dailies every now and then, or be the glass cannon appendix to a small zerg while trying to get my GoB’s.

yeah, they count as HoT maps, but still doesn’t solve the problem of wanting to level HoT materies while doing events and stuff in Central Tyria.

And that is to keep the HoT maps relevant, to keep a steady level of activity in those maps. Core Tyria maps are infinitely easier to walk around in than HoT maps. The nature of most people would make it so they take the path of least resistance, i.e. levelling HoT masteries in core Tyria maps. In my opinion ANet did the right thing by separating these two.

TheNecrosanct.4028

I don’t have an issue playing my alts either, but that’s probably because I don’t have alts. I don’t mean I only have 1 character, I mean that I vary my play time between several different characters. None can be considered a main. Given the fact that I have 10 characters with world complation this means that I can take almost anyone anywhere I want, so it doesn’t really matter. It all depends on what class I feel like playing (or build, since I have seconds of a few classes with different builds).

It also doesn’t matter to me if they’re ascended or not. Exotic gear is perfectly fitting to walk around in. I do make sure I always have runes and sigils equipped, and a full set of trinkets (I know a lot of people who don’t seem to bother with those). However, 9 of my characters do have full ascended sets of gear (and one of my Warriors even has 2 ascended sets, one for dps and one for condi). So even if that was a dealbreaker to me, it wouldn’t matter anymore for me at this point.

The only class I ignore is Engineer. I do have one at level 80 and the elite specialization unlocked, but I really don’t like the class so it just sits at the end of my row of character slots, collecting dust.

Crystal Desert Expansion [Topic]

The Crystal Desert Expansion – Will it be an expansion or an living world update :

Us original Guildwars gamers know there will be the DRAGON GLINT.
-But in the original dungeon there were like 6 or 7 additional dragons that pose a threat before you would present to glint. Dragon Glint is on our side in the previous game but with the all new dragons awoken maybe we can corrupt her somehow to make it more fun.

- An expansion would include new raids. But new dungeons perhaps? There was the original Tomb of Primeval Kings dungeon that was difficult This for a fact will be a RAID. But the loot drops from these raids do not pertain to the original guild wars. Eternal Bow Shadow weapon drops stormbow which is now [A SKIN…] Theres been a trend where the new dungeons are RAIDS only no chance at running new paths and dungeons collect armor and weapons that pertain to the dungeon being ran. which ive been expecting to see for a year now.

The world events are all good and fun but become repetitive in a sense that its just for exp and bunch of loot drops its not necessarily a dungeon though its an event. they have been good at making these events fun but nothing exotic without it being an achievement.

I hope to see a better more live expansion but im hoping the crystal desert brings an all new Era to the world of guildwars 2.

You must’ve missed something here because Glint is pretty much dead as a doornail. If you played the Bazaar of the Four Winds temporary content in 2013 you would’ve known that, since the Zephyrites mentioned Glint and how they got their Aspect magic from her lifeless remains.

The dungeon team has been disbanded years ago. ANet forgoes dungeons in favour of Fractals of the Mists and Raids. So don’t expect any more new dungeons in this game.

Nahh, ANET will be attaching those masteries to all the new content maps leading up to the next expansion. So you’ll pretty much be done in no time as long as you keep doing the new stuff. The mastery points, on the other hand…prepare for a grind. -_-

Well, that is what I meant. Bloodstone Fen and Ember Bay are maps added after Hot, so they count as HoT maps (remember the 2 HoT mastery points in Bloodstone Fen?). New maps released up until the next expansion are considered HoT maps (at least so far).

Keeping HoT mastery XP tied to HoT maps only ensures that people don’t abandon those maps. It’s one of the ways in which ANet keeps maps validated over long periods of time. So I don’t think they will ever change this. Then again, stranger things have happened, but I’m not putting my money on it.

The prior fractal system was much more in line to give players a better feeling to jump around to the different fractals but now we are grinding the levels to climb higher to get into the areas to obtain items say for legendary weapon crafting. And shockingly as this comes many people don’t like fractals so why put in having to do fractals to get the mats to craft Legendary Weapons or Precursors like the Legend.

The Fractals you need to do to finish the precursor collections do not require any specific Fractal level. It requires you to do/find something specific in a Fractal, regardless of level. You will get it if you do T1 Fractals, as well as when you do T4 Fractals. So you must’ve misunderstood how this works. The only T4 Fractals you need to do for a legendary item is for the last Ad Infinitum collection. And with the exception of the 4 HoT legendaries you can still get your precursors the old-fashioned way (RNG drops, Mystic Forge RNG, buying off TP).

I also don’t know where you get the idea that many people don’t like Fractals (or WvW and PvP, for that matter). There are plenty of Fractal lfg’s to be found every day. WvW is anything but lifeless. Haven’t done PvP for a long while but I see plenty of Ascensions when running around open world maps. Maybe you and your relatively small circle of friends (relative compared to the entire GW2 community) don’t like that content, but you are not the common denominator for what the entire community likes or doesn’t like.

If the new material being released on September 20 has the same map system and existing system its not going to change peoples opinions and very well could drive more people away. Do keep in mind that their is a reason they are showing the next dragon either they are trying to gain players back because HoT forced a lot away or they are going to be doing a full expansion for the holidays. Either way with the existing system and the way its implemented I cannot see it being successful.

Of course it has the same system, since it’s all still a part of the story that was advertised as continuing with HoT. HoT has been out for almost a year now and I see so many people with mastery points running around that I don’t get the feeling it’s driven so many people away. Sure, some will have left, but a lot haven’t. And it has drawn back players too, as well as brought in a new influx of players. I don’t know where you get the information that they are showing a dragon to keep players in the game. Do you have inside information from ANet staff themselves? A full expansion for the holidays? I doubt it. Expansion are advertised well in advance. No news of a new expansion yet, so don’t count on one being released this year, or for the better part of next year. Remember there was almost a year between the first HoT announcement and the actual release of the expansion.

Regarding the mastery system and the new way traits are unlocked, all I see is you voicing a personal opinion. Presenting that opinion as fact and saying most of the community feels the same way does not make it true. I have no problems with the mastery system (took my time and maxed them out in 2.5 months; didn’t feel like a grind at all, but I guess it would feel like that if you don’t like the HoT maps, which you professed you don’t, again coupled with the assumption that most people feel this way). Traits are learned quite easily. Level to 80 and you’ll have all the regular traits. Do 25 HoT HP’s and you’ve got your elite specialization unlocked. Doesn’t feel at all like a chore to me.

All the different currencies are ANet’s way of keeping all the various maps relevatnt. Making you farm those currencies for other objectives (like crests and geodes for precursor crafting) ensures those maps won’t be abandoned but will continue to be played throughout the game’s existence. It’s the same principle as their dynamic level system: a way to keep the entirety if the game relevant, instead of leaving old maps behind when new ones are introduced.

The point is, GW2 was made with the express intent to set themselves apart from other MMO’s. And in a lot of ways they are still achieving that intent. People can agree or disagree with the way they go about it, but as a daily player I still see all kinds of people running around every map: people without HoT, people with HoT, people who have maxed out their masteries. You find all of them everywhere. Maybe a lot of your friends have left GW2, but that doesn’t mean the entire community is bailing on the game.

Nothing personal, but all I read in your posts are personal opinions on the game as it currently is, and the assumption that your views are shared by the larger community. Actually playing the game tells me you couldn’t be further from the truth. Your opinions certainly do not reflect mine.

You tried to help me? yet the first sentence you make is, “there’s nothing bugged here”. I don’t consider that very helpful at all and imo, it was you who was “acting smart”. If you truly were trying to help me then i must have misunderstood your intent, but I wasn’t asking for help from anyone, other than the devs to fix their game. And just b/c the instance wasn’t bugged for you, doesn’t invalidate my experience of it. The bugs in this mission seem to occur randomly and in different places. I’ve run the mission on one character with no issues, while on others bugs galore. It’s a luck of the draw the way the instance loads i think. sometimes it loads with those bugs in it, other times it doesn’t and you’re very lucky if u get a clean run.

There’s an option in game to report bugs. There is a bugs section on the Forum. Yet you post it on a discussion Forum. Are you surprised people respond, or are trying to help?

You come across as a bit abbrassive and that usually doesn’t engender sympathy or respect from people. We understand your frustration, but don’t take it out on other players. They can’t help that you encounter these bugs so often. People point this out yet you continue with your tone and demeanor, which tells me you don’t care at all about how you voice your opinion. And I have to agree that your description of the problem you run into isn’t exactly clear cut. It’s widely open to interpretation. So if people give you advice that you don’t need, just look at your original post to see where that comes from.

I was on my rev and using every CC at my disposal, but the bar was instantly regenerating to full.

This right here seems to be the problem (notice my use of the word “seems”, not “is”, because this is how you describe it). You said you finished it 12 times before, but this suggests you are using your weapon skill cc’s, while it’s the rift that breaks his bar.

Having said all that, I must be extremely lucky for having only encountered one bugged instance of Hearts and Minds, the first week after HoT release when nothing was fixed yet. The other 7 times, months later, it was a cakewalk and completely devoid of bugs (and yes, much easier to solo than doing it with a group).

A bug report will yield more results than posting it here on the Forum. Devs don’t usually answer these kinds of questions here. Also, taking out your frustration on someone who’s trying to help you by giving advice isn’t exactly helpful.

So I assume you know that after the last glide phase you don’t attack him or break his cc bar with your weapon skills, but defeat the mobs, then break his cc bar by using the rift, and then dps him? Weapon cc skills will not be able to break his bar because it refills too fast, but the rift is like an overpowered cc breaker and will stun him in about 2 seconds. I’ve done this mission about 8 or 9 times and the only time it bugged for me was the first time I did it, in the first week after HoT was released (when the fight was rife with bugs). Every single time I tried it afterwards I had no problems, no bugs whatsoever.

Some like only PvE, some abhor playing against AI mechanics and do only PvP. Some don’t like the WvW zerg mentality and do only sPvP, while some only play WvW. The game is created to have something for everyone, not to have everyone enjoy all aspects of the game. I mentioned the removing because I also paid for the game, but I only play 1 of the 3 game modes available at the moment (I’m on a sPvP hiatus at the moment).

I said dungeons aren’t for everyone because I personally know people who don’t like instanced content but just do open world stuff. So dungeons aren’t for everyone. Unless you can show us that 100% of the player base takes on the dungeons, which you can’t. Adjusting Raids so they can be played with 5 people would mean overhauling the entire system, which is simply not worth it when you put it against the release of new content. I’m confident that most people would prefer new content over an overhaul of Raids to make them accessible for 5-man groups.

There’s nothing wrong with my reading comprehension skills. I just responded to what you wrote and took it one step further. Your reply is based on a few assumptions you make about things I never said. I do not rage against the thought that pugs must have a chance to do Raids. I simply pointed out that overhauling Raids wouldn’t be worth it because it takes time away from new Raids and new content. I said nothing about ANet needing to fix or improve, so I don’t know where that came from. I don’t know how many Raids GW2 will have, nor does anyone. The future will tell us. I never said the raiding development team needs to come up with new content every week, nor did I suggest anything remotely close to that. I have patience. I can wait a few months, or even until the next expansion for another Raid to come out.
And yes, Raiding is designed specifically for a certain group of players, namely those who seek new and bigger challenges. You can’t put that in all aspects of the game, because then the entire game would become inaccessible to the more casual players, which is something I definitely do not want. I also enjoy my time in the relatively easy open world maps. With 10 world completions and 0 legendaries it’s pretty safe to say I have no problem with that content but actually like doing that. I never suggested people should tremble at the word Raid, but I know that people do, because Raids have a certain image to the general MMO public. A valid image, too (they are the most challenging content in any MMO that has Raids; that’s not an opinion, that’s a fact).

The idea of 5 man raiding for fast grouping is a good one, but I just wanted to point out it’s highly unlikely ANet will put time and money into that, because Raiding was never meant to be for the entire player base, only for the ones who want the most challenging content. That part about challenge has been in the game manifesto for as long as this game exists. Dungeons failed in that regard, but Raids succeeded.

So instead of questioning my reading comprehension skills, perhaps you should stop assuming I’m an elitist raider.

And now back to suggestions for this awesome game.

Toughness and Vitality

Read the topic pls

I don’t know if that’s meant for me or people in general in this thread, but I wasn’t replying to the topic, just the one sentence I quoted from you. And my reply to that is still 100% correct. As a main berserker player (with the exception of a few condition classes) I feel or see no need for toughness. At least not for me personally. And if I can survive without toughness, not being the best player in the game (I’m nowhere near qT levels of playing skill, but I feel confident in saying I’m above the average player’s skill), I’d say toughness is not needed in either Fractals, and definitely not Raids.

If by endgame you say T4 fractals and raids, then sorry Toughness is more than welcome

Not really. Well, really not when it comes to Raids. There’s a lot of tanking mechanisms in Raids. If everybody uses toughness in their builds you’d have to figure out who has the highest toughness to make sure the tank roll doesn’t get screwed over. In reality, only one person should have toughness in Raids, and that’s the tank. And it doesn’t even have to be that much, as long as it’s the highest toughness rating in the squad. Any dps you sacrifice for the sake of toughness means you’d have to perform perfect rotations all the time to kill the bosses within the enrage timer limit. It makes the margin for mistakes even smaller than it already is.

Damaged Gear QOL Suggestion

TheNecrosanct.4028

Once all pieces are broken and you die again, the icon changes from an orange shield to a broken red shield. That’s when armor pieces actually disappear on your character and you’re missing their stats/runes. Before that, there is no reason to repair because everything is still functionally working. So as long as you see that orange shield, nothing is wrong and you’re still benefitting from your full gear set.

About raid i did not say a content nerf as in Kitty mode)) but do scale down to 5 people and still put us in 2hours pain i want difficult content but sometimes people have more things to do beside w8 1 hour for the rest of the guild to come and raid :/
I suggest a 5 man version that gives less rewards that 10 man ,this way people will go for 10 man, keep the same or close in duration, and give the pugs or non elite raiders a chance to experience the story. We all paid for the game, why not enjoy it to the full ?

Well, it’s an MMO with different game modes. There’s nothing that says anyone should enjoy all aspects of the game. By that logic, why not just remove WvW? I hate that game mode and steer clear of it as much as I can (except for GoB acquisition, which takes me a long time because I only do a few WvW dailies every now and then). Dungeons aren’t for everyone. Should those be removed too? What about Fractals? Let’s go back to the 50 levels because T4 is too difficult for some people or they hate it? No, Raids are fine as they are. In any MMO the majority of players don’t do Raids, but they’re still important content for those people who enjoy that level of challenge. Besides, all the changes I’ve seen mentioned (in this thread and others) about making Raids more accessible, would require way too much time and work. I’d rather have ANet focus on real new content, that adjust existing content to make it more accessible to a larger audience. Besides, Raids are engrained in the consciousness of MMO players as the most difficult content in any MMO. Adjust it, and there will still be people who complain about it being too difficult/inaccessible or won’t even approach it, simply because of the fact it’s Raids.

4) more underwater skills (why no chrono wells but necro wells are OK?)

This one is easy to answer: because the elite specializations came long after ANet abandoned any underwater related content/combat. Just look at the Revenant underwater. Frankly, it’s a disgrace, but there’s nothing we can do about it except keep on mentioning it.

I don’t see any sense in showing backpacks through shields. You put the shield over the backpack, so how are you going to see it? It can’t go through the shield, or around it. It’s 2 items covering each other. Either the shield covers the backpack, or the backpack covers the shield. It’s only logical. Imagine the clipping if you’d be able to see both. It’d be a disaster. And don’t give me that “it’s magic because it’s a fantasy game” crap. That excuse won’t work on everything.

My suggestions:
1. build templates
2. saving rune and sigil options when changing stats on legendary gear (e.g.: if you equip one rune or sigil on legendary gear, you will always have the option to put that back if you changed stats and change it back, so you won’t have to keep buying the same runes and sigils)
3. a sell all option (I believe that it’s people’s own responsibility to take notice of things they don’t want to sell. Put it in the bank/shared inventory slot/invisible bag. It’s called being thorough and attentive instead of just blindly clicking a button without checking)
4. I would like to see them put effort into underwater combat, but I don’t expect it anytime soon, nor would I be surprised if they never did
5. a key chain, or something with a similar purpose (i.e. easier to implement in GW2’s basecode, since I understand that implementing a key chain is apparently difficult if not impossible with the current basecode)
6. build templates (2nd mention is not an oversight; this game REALLY needs the ability to save builds)

Not really a suggestion, but more a wish. I would like to see them put dungeons back on the menu again, to put instanced content spread throughout the world instead of a collection of instances in one place (Fractals) and besides Raids ( I do raid, so this is not a criticism from an anti-raid player). But I understand the constant nerfs over the years have defeated the original purpose of dungeons, and that Raids fill that purpose much better (the purpose being challenging content). Dungeons are dead easy these days, especially with elite specializations, but I always loved doing them and would like to see new ones added. And I don’t see the harm in implementing easy instanced content for the more casual and less-skilled players.

Invisible bags are useful but when you switch out two one handed weapons for a two handed weapon one will go in the two handed weapon slot and the other will go into the first open inventory slot, which means it’s possible to sell it. I sold an ascended weapon to a vendor once when my game lagged during selling. I got it back because I reviewed my sales to merchant but a don’t sell mark on it would have stopped that.

You just need to leave a space in your inventory after the two-handed weapon – if you swap a two-handed weapon for a main and off hand, the main hand will go into the space vacated by the two-handed weapon, and the off hand weapon will go into the space to its right, if empty.

Except, any loot you get automatically fills up the first available space. So this only works if you don’t get any loot. If you’ve been running around for a while and want to switch a two-handed weapon to 2 one-handed weapons, it’s highly likely that space you trying to keep free is already filled up with something that dropped for you in the meantime. So your suggestion doesn’t work very well in practice.

I love JP’s and I’m definitely looking forward to the Chalice of Tears. I’m one of those people who always ignores Mesmer ports and just do the JP myself, even the hard ones. Mad King Clock Tower and Winter Wonderland are a cakewalk to me after 3 years.

There is only one exception when it comes to using a Mesmer portal, and that’s Professor Portmatt’s Lab. But that isn’t even a jumping puzzle, technically speaking. They should’ve named it a mini dungeon instead of a jumping puzzle.

There are enough enemies in core Tyria that are immune to burning. I’ve never heard people demand that immunity be changed because it screws up their burn builds.

Core “burn” maps ONLY for hearts.

As if that makes any difference. So killing them is also required for some hearts. They’re still out there and whether you’ve done the hearts or not, they’ll still attack you if you come too close. Dredge are immune to blind. Killing them is also needed for some hearts, but you’ll also find them where there are no hearts. Many hylek are immune to poison.

And in case you hadn’t heard: there will be heart quests on the new map. Still, the point is entirely moot.

TheNecrosanct.4028

How far will this “cater to me” mentality go? It is the most normal thing in games to adapt to the enemy you are facing, instead of having that enemy made easy for you. I’ve been playing games since the 80’s and I have never experienced it any other way. There is no one way to kill everything. There are enough enemies in core Tyria that are immune to burning. I’ve never heard people demand that immunity be changed because it screws up their burn builds. Use skills that don’t do burning. Change your weapons. Change traits that focus on burning damage. You don’t need to completely gear your character anew to beat these enemies. This “my way or the highway” demand is ridiculous. There is no class in the game that relies solely on burning, which skills do only burning damage without exception. These enemies being immune is not a mistake. Catering to those who refuse to adapt to the situation, that would be the biggest mistake of all. It will set a precedent that will only make things worse. It seems as if some people think they decide how games function. Newsflash: you do not. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to go the Fire Islands. Just stay away if it bothers you so much.

Is this confirmed?

A while back (August 10th) someone(s) placed large buy orders for gold and silver ore. I assume in hopes that ascended jewelry is coming with Lvl 500 and they will be needed and the price will skyrocket so even bids at the current value would still be very profitable and with a long enough lead time they could buy up 1/2 or 1 million of each without affecting the current sale price.

Of course it’s only a speculative bet it’s coming this time.

Of course this rumor may be a way to spike the price so those behind the 5 week ore buying spree can dump their inventory.

I don’t think we’ll ever get ascended jewelry crafting. It would make all the vendors that sell ascended jewelry completely redundant.

Yes the return to the Ring of Fire Islands being involved with Primordus is no surprise to me. I knew that since GW2 came out in fact.

2) Island is more like a bunch of craters surrounded by the ocean…..How would a fire dragon lives under the ocean?

Well, this one is obvious to answer. He wouldn’t be living under the ocean. He’d be living under the island. You do realize that an island goes all the way down to the bottom of the ocean? Where else does that lava come from? And considering it’s a volcano it will only grow wider the deeper you get. Not that I believe Primordus is actually there. There are other places in Tyria where lava emerges (Kessex Hills, Lornar’s Pass, Mount Maelstrom) and all of them are crawling with destroyers. That doesn’t mean Primordus is there as well. Mordremoth might have been the entire jungle, but Primordus is not all of Kryta.

I log off my characters in their home cities, so it depends on their race. More specifically I log them off at the bank, except when they’re crafters. Then I log them off at one of their crafts’ stations. I clean out their inventory, put my gathering tools in the shared inventory slots (before I used to put them in the bank) so they won’t get “lost” in the process. This way they’re “clean” next time I log on, no clutter or other stuff to deal with.

Having 10 world completions I have to say I’ve never come across this problem. And I don’t time when I go there. The window isn’t 2 hours long. Only when the event UI says “The Lionguard are preparing to attack Laughing Gull Island and Taidha Covington” is the area inaccessible, and that is not the majority of the time when Taidha is down. If this area was inaccessible most of the time, like you suggest, you’d think more people would run into this problem, or that going there randomly 10 times you would find it inaccessible at least a few times.

Rings are :

3*96 for globs (2.88g)
1* 288s for shards (2.88g)

Total: 7.26g plus some fractal relics.

Thank you for correcting me. I thought I had to use 250 ectos on each piece. I’m glad I was wrong :P

You could also make several Mawdreys as back items. They’re fairly easy to make and don’t need 250 ectos to upgrade, but 10 crystalline dust instead.

Central Tyria Mastery Points [red]

TheNecrosanct.4028

Actually, I cant use a different race to complete Core Mastery Points for story chapters. Anet cancelled/stopped that. So your list is wrong.

That list is completely correct. Those are all the core Tyria mastery points you can get. Now, when it comes to story achievements for individual chapters (not the personal story concerning Zhaitan, but LS season 2 achievements) you need to do them on a character that has already run through those chapters once. If you only did them with one character then yes, you can’t use a different character and have to redo them with the character who did go through those chapters.

All the other achievements can be done by whatever character you want. The Fractal achievements aren’t tied to the level of Fractals. You can do them on tier 1 difficulty or tier 4 difficulty, whatever you prefer. As long as you perform the specific action described in the achievement.

If you’d be able to change the stats of ascended trinkets that way, it would completely nullify every other way to obtain ascended trinkets. It would make half of what the laurel, guild accomodation and fractal relics vendors sell redundant. ANet is not going to do something like that. I believe this is also the reason why we can’t craft ascended trinkets, since that would have the same result.

TheNecrosanct.4028

I think the issue is that ANET got a backlash against changing the world the last time they did it (Lions Arch). As such they may be feeling more wary towards it. If they want to make the Dragons feel threatening they HAVE to affect existing maps more than a one off weekend event. That is a LOT of work though. Anything going in has to be tested, if they want to add new events to all the zones to denote dragon invasions, that’s a lot. I THINK they are doing a great job in testing the waters with these Bloodstone crazed beasts events, and bandit leaders. I get the impression these events are them testing this idea. If so, I like it.

What I would enjoy more is hitting a major city that’s not LA. They were VERY close to this with LS2 and Mordremoth attacking the Pale Tree, but they kept it all instanced and left no scaring.

I always considered his attempt at the Pale Tree to be an attempt to corrupt her again, (since she is essentially a purified blighting tree, or at least the result of a purified seed of Mordremoth), not destroy her. We haven’t seen any scarring yet, but we’ve heard that she is recovering, so she definitely has damage done to her (albeit physical or mental). Her avatar showed she was in pain and discomfort, after all.

I personally like changing the world. It makes it a bit more believable. With all these things happening, you must at some point see signs of it around you. They did it to Kessex Hills too, before they destroyed Lion’s Arch. That area is still not like what it used to be. They also would’t have to change an entire map; part of it would still make sense. The nightmare tower didn’t cover all of Kessex Hills either, and the east part of the map is still like it used to be before Scarlet came along.
