Coming to FA has the best benefit imaginable, being able to play with Dcon, the best Underwater Combat and Roleplay guild in the game, with an all-you-can-eat rutabaga buffet!
Great times here in Fort Aspenwood!
It’s only about half of that to come to DR and we are in and out of T2 and T3 We have room for everyone and it would only take an afternoon in Auric Basin!
Who’d play with Maguuma by choice? Blech. And no telling whether you’ll end up in the basement on your next pairing…
I don’t have a problem with the elite specs. They’ve made the game a lot more enjoyable to play. I think a lot of the complaints will die down after the next expansion when there are another set and you’re picking between two. The real issue is that there weren’t that many decent trait lines to begin with, so taking an elite spec is a no-brainer in most cases. Bringing the deficient trait lines (and they all aren’t deficient) up to par would be better than messing with the elite specs. Havok fights are fantastic right now playing with and against elite specs.
I like this idea. I’ve always preferred playing on the enemy BLs so switching out EB would be fun for me at no personal cost. The rest of you can go suck eggs. :P
I preferred power to condi too.
Curious about what happens if you vote, then when you go back to check select don’t count my vote because you already voted… I did that on the previous poll.
I’ve managed to upgrade a guild to level 61 doing 99% of it (3 others helped with the actual claiming of the hall) and all of the decorations myself.
The guild does have some other members – a couple of friends who log in an hour per month, and some people from my main WvW guild so they can claim a 2nd site but they don’t donate any mats.
How much did it cost in time and money to do this? Did you grind in game for gold and/or mats? Did you use gems?
Having been in a 15 person guild with members donating and doing guild runs for shovels and such, with one member luckily having not spent her pvpnreward potions, I spent hundreds of dollars and the other guild leader at least a thousand dollars just to reach the original +5 supply aura, significantly lower than 61.
I’m having a hard time getting intimidate as opposed to annoy from 2 and 3 in the OP.
I don’t see a need to change this absent confirmation it is enough of a problem to justify reducing rewards for people actively playing, which will likely be the end result of the changes suggested. From what has been said, this seems a lot like a Fox News report that someone in the projects has a nice car so all social programs should be eliminated followed by an editorial saying the reason the middle class is shrinking is because poor people took all their money.
While I appreciate being able to have a person I’ve been waiting for move to FA now. As a general thing this feels like too little too late. I can’t help but feel that the “more harm than good” has been to FA, which doesn’t have the population of DB or JQ to start and has been prevented from picking up players post-matchup. Most of the people that were going to move after re-linking likely already have. This is going to bring at best a few people who are in FA guilds, assuming they haven’t already spent what gems they have to move once and can’t afford it again, along with a few returning expats.
Is there ever going to be anything done to equalize population post-additional-stacking of the un-linked servers or are those servers going to retain a population advantage perpetually that keeps them from having to deal with the re-linking issues that the linked servers are going to have to continually face? It seems like a significant advantage has been conferred on the unlinked servers in regard to communication and organization.
Ranger, Mesmer, Warrior were all fun for me. 30s to 50s were kind of a dull space for leveling. After the New Player Experience, leveling has been less fun at all levels. Even after NPE was tweaked, leveling still sucks compared to how it used to be.
Once you finish a track, it should not return to rotation until you enable it again. So, after it gets finished once, just leave it in its disabled state.
Waste eight hours of progression to disable the track?
Because to have a good competitive environment, all sides need to have an equal playing field, literally. Football fields are equal on both sides of the 50 yard line are they not? I can’t think of a single sport that has unequal courts, fields, or lanes. As such, people that play WvW as a competitive game mode will leave.
Baseball has unequal field dimensions, as well as other park specific factors.
http://espn.go.com/fantasy/baseball/story/_/page/mlbdk2k16_parkfactors/which-parks-most-least-favorable-fantasy-baseball-hitters-pitchers-mlbFootball has different playing surfaces and is played under varying weather conditions, rain and snow as well as extreme heat and cold and in domes. Some stadiums have configurations that create difficult wind conditions. Teams choose personnel in part based upon these factors and teams that don’t practice or play often in the conditions they have play in at an away game are at a disadvantage.
Excellent point.
This is a False equivalence. In the examples you’ve given, the competition is still taking place on the same field. Thus, the competition between all parties is equal based on terrain. There aren’t two dissimilar fields, one with a terrain advantage, that a singular competition takes place on.
NFL and MLB playoffs – which are as much a singular competition as three factions fighting in four different maps over the course of a week. Certain teams are going to be playing with a home field advantage which includes weather acclimatization, lack of travel fatigue, a team that is built to take advantage of the layout and conditions of their home field (or vice versa), etc. Another team is playing in those conditions, but other playoff teams are playing their games in completely different circumstances. But all of them are competing to move forward to the next level.
This is true of both sports in regard to their regular season as well, where teams aren’t all going to play on the same fields an equal number of times, if at all, in a season

How would a mixed bls setup of 2 ABLS and 1 DBL affect the population?

It’s funny to sad how much WvW is becoming EotM. In EotM there’s two types of play, K-Training or Bag Farming. Now in WvW it’s basically coming down to people wanting to full blown either K-Training or Bag Farming too. Long live EotM 2.0
Football fields aren’t equal say in the middle of winter when one is covered by snow and others aren’t. The mode is very unequal in other ways. If the DBL and a new future home BL conformed to norms established by the ABL, eg northern towers able to treb garri then having different BLs would be fine IMO.
That is why more and more stadiums are going indoors to solve that problem and building domes…
Think of it like a basketball court.
Prove this “more and more stadiums are going indoors to solve that problem and building domes.” There have been or will be a total of three new domed stadiums in pro football, and all three are replacing existing or recently demolished domes in Atlanta, Minnesota and Los Angeles (the stadium in LA replacing the Rams’ previous domes stadium in St. Louis.). And open air baseball parks have been preferred in most recent stadiums that hadn’t had domes in the past and even these are mostly being replaced with retractable roof stadiums to avoid rain delays and improve attendance – I don’t know of a single instance where the purpose was to standardize the field of play, especially since none of the changes included standardizing the dimensions of the field. And in some cases, the domes themselves make fielding fly balls more difficult or easier because of differences in coloring and lighting.
I am in Dallas, everything gets domed here. DOMES EVERYWHERE!
It is the largest domed stadium in the world and has the world’s largest column-free interior
http://twistedsifter.com/2009/09/new-dallas-cowboys-stadium/
How can you leave out the largest domed stadium?
Then of course there is the Astrodome and Alamodome in Texas and then all of these elsewhere:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_covered_stadiums_by_capacity
The Cowboy’s stadium is a retractable roof, not a dome. That list is miniscule in comparison to the total number of stadiums and doesn’t show any trend toward an increased number of domed stadiums overall or that the choice. Most especially, it doesn’t in any way support that the domes are intended to equalize play. Atlanta, field example wanted an open stadium but had to agree to the roof because they couldn’t reach a two stadium agreement (using the Georgia Dome for other events) with Atlanta.
The retractable roof stadiums actually create their own set of inequal circumstances, as desire for crowd noise or a coach or quarterbacks desire for a more controlled environment can factor into the decision on whether to open or close the roof.

Please keep as is, I enjoy logging into one of 40+ characters and being surprised by a gift. Would like that dye gift to be in some way beneficial to people that have all the dyes unlocked though, just sitting in stash now.

you know the problem about discussions like this, there is always someone that talks like “but my guild did make it so…”
no matter how many guilds have this problem, there is always someone who tries to talk it down as if every single guild can do the exact same thing.let me get ppl out of their dream world, not every single guild works the same.
just because your guild did it doesn’t mean all guilds are able, it doesn’t work that way.
and don’t get the whole “join a different guild” because that’s like saying “if you don’t like that one thing your friend said, find different friends”
ppl might have a 3 man guild as friends, they want a guild for their own reasons.the way it is now only a minimum size guild of 10+ can get it, 5+ only with full dedication, if that is what it takes to get a guild hall them the design is flawed.
made for the addicted rather then the fun players….Likewise, simply because some guilds haven’t pulled it off doesn’t mean the current system is bad or needs to be changed. As others have stated,
- Benefits are permanent.
- Costs are fixed.
- Ordinary buffs and many features are free to use (or re-use).
So it comes down to a matter of perspective: are guild halls meant to be part of active play? or are they supposed to serve as a sort of “substitute player housing” and be easier for tiny guilds to build?
As in many other elements of the game, ANet seems to be moving in the direction of promoting active game play. As with any transition, not everyone is happy with the change (and it doesn’t help that ANet hasn’t really explained their thinking on this).
How are you getting that smaller guilds being able to reasonably make a guild hall through playing the game actively rather than forgoing active play by, e.g., logging in and out of alts for 40 minutes a day or gem-to-golding to buy mats as somehow not promoting active play. It sounds like you’re attacking members of smaller guilds because you don’t have a rational argument.

Back seat commanding. Self paradise by the dashboard light…
Hello.
As a member of a small guild, who does not want to be part of a larger 100+ player guild, I and my guildies have found the task of upgrading the guild hall to be somewhat insurmountable. While it is “possible” with enough time, the cost is vast to the point of being disheartening.
I thought of a few possible solutions of how to fix this issue, like reduced costs for guilds with less members, but I realized that such systems would be exploitable. For example, you could buy a guild hall, but don’t invite members to the guild yet. Get all your potential members to send you resources and upgrade the hall at a reduced cost, and then invite them afterwards.
So after some deliberating, I’ve come up with what I think is an ideal solution that both circumvents possible exploits, while giving smaller guilds some love.
Introduce smaller guild halls.
The idea behind this is to add smaller guild halls that are separate from the larger ones, and that specifically cater to guilds with less than 50 members. You could make it so that smaller guild halls can only be acquired by guilds with less than 50 or so members and if a guild ever grows beyond that capacity, it has to buy a larger guild hall.
Smaller guild halls will also be much cheaper to upgrade, but because of their player limit, you can’t exploit them by upgrading them and then inviting more players afterwards. Their upgrades would also be counted as separate from the large guild halls, so if you move from a small to large guild hall, the upgrades will not be carried over (this will again help avoid exploits where a large guild would first purchase all upgrades and then move to a large guild hall afterwards to benefit).
This is honestly the best solution I can think of to cater to smaller guilds, without penalizing larger ones (the average cost per player could work out to be similar), and I think this would be a great addition to the game.
u must not have known, but this game is trying to cater more towards larger groups and content that will support that.
lik others have said, you aren’t blocked out of progressing your guild hall, but its designed for big groups as anet intended
anet created these halls and raids and the like to give more organized and bigger groups of people things to do and u should be able to appreciate that this approach is for the better of the game and everyone who plays it
If it excludes people in smaller groups or proportionately burdens them, the approach clearly isn’t for the better of everyone who plays the game.
I’d really like to see this as well. Every guild doesn’t need a guild city, but those that don’t should be a able to get a place to call home. In addition to the small guild hall, a Free Company option would be nice, where you don’t build a hall, but just develop WvW bonuses.
lol i miss being paired with FA already.
You guys were great to be paired with, when everyone on FA realized we weren’t paired with you guys TS was filled with people talking about how much they’d miss the people on BP. We can only hope we’re as good partners to SoR as you guys were to us.
Crystal Desert & Kaineng & Eredon Terrace & Borlis Pass
Hex Yah! I’m so happy to have an alt on Eredon Terrace. I’m part of THE MONGREL HORDE!
I hope this is a feature and the bug is a missing tooltip. I have a stack of these somewhere. It’d be nice if the price went up.
5. Commanders should have ability to initiate “Call of the Mists” (on a huge cooldown and maybe some token requirements) – A message that pops up for all players on the server, that invites them to be teleported to BL or EB, and if player agrees, gives a buff similar to Volunteer’s Blessing.
Agree on all except #2 similar to above poster.
In regards to #5, before megaservers this was almost a non-issue. You could just have someone pop out of WvW into a city and send the call out. Considering how often this happened pre-megaserver I don’t think whoever pushed through megaservers considered how they’d affect WvW.
In short you are not the first to recommend this.
Now I want to stand in Lion’s Arch yelling in map chat, “They’re 2v1ing our Garri! Come help!”
I’d like a return of a season as well. I’d prefer that it involve reward requirements somewhere between S2 which were too high and S3, which were too low. Definitely no longer than a month though.
I liked the GvG in the grass with people on the hillside sitting on their brooms and whatnot. Sticking it away in OS took away some of the community factor. I’d also like to see the toys which don’t provide an actual advantage enabled in WvW.

Golem pets for my asura. And a pocket raptor pack.
Or ranks earned via roaming vs blobbing… roaming ranks come with a lot more time in game than blobbing.
But let’s be real… The impact of people with multiple accounts, or the importance of focusing on just “experienced” players is almost nihl. The latter in particular, since it’s the people who will play that are important, not the people who did play.
People were already saying they voted 6 times on these polls… I think you greatly underestimate the number of WvW player multiple accounts that currently exist in the game . I know players who made accounts for every single server, both NA and EU so that if they ever needed them they would have them. Everyone was talking about all the accounts they were buying when they went on sale for $10 in the map TS channels that day and many guilds were having players make sure they made accounts for specific servers that they wanted to make sure all their members bought one for so they could play as a guild on multiple servers at the time. People who missed that were not aware I guess of how wide scale this actually was.
In addition, someone who logs into WvW just to do dailies isn’t going to understand whether or not all classes skills work in all zones, the strategic value of objective placement and how it interacts with other objectives, how many ways an objective can be attacked, how each class can be played on a map, what glitches and bugs need to be repaired so you cannot glitch into keeps, where the mesmer hiding spots are, or even how to refresh siege. How can they vote on these things when they have no understanding of them or how they work or what they even need to work?
It isn’t a matter of trying to exclude people, it is just trying to make sure those who are going to be affecting these things actually understand them. Someone who does not understand the use of strategic building placement, for example, should not be voting on things that affect that.
I am sure those who like to raid dungeons wouldn’t want me to go over there and vote on their dungeon raid builds as well considering I do not do that. I personally would hope they would exclude me from voting in PvE raiding polls since I really shouldn’t be sticking my nose in to things I do not understand.
These polls, just like the surveys they used to create this game should be done by Invite only . In this case those players who have put in enough time to playing the game mode that they actually understand what it is they are voting on.
Let’s chuck out all those people who spent all those hours in game following someone else around and pushing buttons when someone told them to and all those running set builds they didn’t create themselves at the same time. Those obviously show a lack of understanding of the game compared with people running in groups where they have to know and understand their skills and when to use them and groups where they make their own decisions on what gear they should be using.
A thousand ranks of doing what you’re told when you’re told with your guild doesn’t show you learned or know anything on its own. Maybe have a test that the special people with a thousand ranks can create among themselves, well among ourselves? We can add it to the gerrymandering to get you the voters you want…

On the flip side to my suggestion (and will probably be highly unpopular) would be to allow the Tier War Councils to coordinate with Anet. They have restricted meetings with the top commanders to work out map politics. These are the people who know what’s best for WvW play, so they could give Anet their feedback. Basically the 1% voting on what the other 99% will get. Not the best idea, but an idea none-the-less.
As a member of a server’s War Council. This is a horrible horrible idea. I have my opinions on WvW and so do most other players, mine shouldn’t be valued more than the majority.
This is the worst idea ever posted on the forums. Having been a member of a server war council, and having knowledge of how influenced it was by internal and external cabals, I can tell you straight up that you won’t get what is best for WvW play, you’ll only get what is best for the individuals with the most personal influence. I’d never trust the people I was on the war council with to place the best interests of WvW as a whole over their personal interests.

I’d love an underwater update. If not the whole expansion, then a quarterly update where they brought it up to snuff. It was one of the selling points of the game early on, and wasn’t as I recall, hated until they did a quick hatchet job to address an exploit about luring things to the surface nor staying right at the edge of the water or something. At the time I recall a dev calling the change a temporary thing, but it was never addressed again.
account bound mini’s .
This is one of the most annoying drops once you have it.
I thought we were getting car mounts.
Make the things that duplicate permanent items tradeable or otherwise give them decent value for people who have the permanent items.

I’d like a shiny metallic glider, sleeker than the ironclad but with the same finish which looks great when dyed until the effect comes on. I’m a huge fan of effects, but the effect doesn’t look as good to me as the jet black metal.
I found mine running to a HP and didn’t know what it was.
But people have asked in the past for something that required more effort in regard to getting the Gift of Battle.
Yeah, but those guys are the jerks who just want to make other people’s lives harder. Nobody should listen to the jerks. If the jerks want to make their own lives harder, then they can just set whatever goals they feel is appropriate and not buy Gift of Battles until they’ve completed that goal.
I don’t disagree. But ArenaNet seems to side with jerks, for example, the stacking issues in T2 right before the WvW changes.
I don’t see a need for the change. But people have asked in the past for something that required more effort in regard to getting the Gift of Battle. Which is the problem with people needing to play things they don’t normally play – the people that do those things all the time think higher requirements are reasonable. It is particularly bad for WvW because there is a subset of that community which believes everyone, regular WvW players or new/occasional players, should play the game their preferred way. So going to WvW on your preferred class with your preferred gear and working toward objectives you believe are important rather than the “map tag” objectives can be an ugly experience. This is especially true for people who aren’t planning to spend enough time in WvW for it to be worth changing gear and learning specific expected builds.
I’d like to see the things unlocked in the old system made available at least. Banners, guild siege and plus five at least. And make those things available quickly in the current system without requiring a guild hall or multiple people to complete. It would let you acquire the things you need to start playing and building a guild. Also make it possible to pick an initial WvW, PvE or PvP XP bonus depending on the focus of the guild so players aren’t penalized for playing in a new guild rather than a large established guild. This would let small guilds have a decent start and also allow people that want to command pugs without the hassle of a guild (which is playing with others and social – being able to pug is good for the game) to do so.

I’d give ArenaNet their choice of left-side part of my anatomy for underwater. Three underwater legendaries, six ascended breathers and a rime-rimmed breather ready to go!
If they’re already rotating, how about putting the island back in sometimes too.
You have a Unipony helmet, gloves that look like five-fingered Quips and two Moot balls for shoulders. You get the aura and sound effects of The Dreamer, Quip and The Moot.
On a serious note, it would really suck for legendary armot to not have an aura of some kind.
Fat-bottomed charrs you make the world vs. world go round…
I want a medium armor shirt with a big collar open at the top three or four buttons with chest hair and a peace sign medallion.
I’m happy with the polls. The system in which feedback is solicited in secret from specially identified people in the community seemed to result in changes that weren’t representative of what a wide spectrum of the population wanted.
I have 16 female aura characters. They all vote yes to change it too.
Maybe bring it back at Halloween with an effect that makes their heads tiny so they can play dress-up as smallbrains.
Please change. Breastcups on asura makes me sad.
I wasn’t a fan of the new BLs when they came out, but they grew on me over time., and after the changes I liked them. I’ve always despised palying the home BL in alpine, so I’d be happy to kick it out every once in a while.
It’s a pretty simple reason why. The vast majority of people playing this game are males including the people playing female avatars.
I’m a male, and I totally support more skimpy armors for male characters.
Same. Can’t +1 this enough.
Me too. I want cheekless chaps on my charr.
