I’ve put quite a bit of both time and money into the game, but I’m pretty much done with both. The haphazard nature of cost in the game kind of wore me down.

Sudden drops in time and effort required to gain things has left me feeling like I’ve wasted time I’ve already put in. Some of the HoT stuff was fun the first time, and the next couple, but I spent a lot of time grinding and that effort is pretty much wasted now. It isn’t that the changes are bad, just that I’ve ended up on the wrong side of the time and money RNG roll one time too many at this point. Specialization cost, hero point acquisition, aurillium, crystalline ore…

Then on the other side, I had just started doing fractals when the scales changed and levels 1 to 50 are now an rewarding grind to levels 51+. I’m ground out. I don’t feel like doing the 7 fractals to get to 51 to make running fractals worthwhile on my main, let alone the 30 and 50 I’d have to do on my alt accounts.

The WvW blob meta has taken the fun out of that game mode for me. Take away playing that and I don’t have a reason to buy anything, since I won’t use it.

I’ve just reached a point where I’m tired of not knowing if time and money I put into the game is going to be worthwhile.

Havok (which is all I really care about)

- 5 to 15 people. Normally 5 to 10 on pick-ups, 10 to 15 on scheduled raids.
- Cap every camp and tower possible.
- Stealth cap or prep keeps.
- Patootie jam enemy groups at every opportunity.
- Kill roamers.
- Counter-havok
- Support larger allied groups in fights over critical objectives under their own commander.
- Delay larger enemy groups until help can arrive at objectives.
- Don’t need comped groups or defined builds necessarily, but at least have players on their own adding some offense to their frontline builds and some defense to their backline builds, because in havok there usually isn’t a line, and when there is, you’re probably on the wrong side of it.

In regard to the auras, if they aren’t going to return the previous version. It would be nice if they at least provided a less ‘visually noisy’ replacement of equal quality to what was removed. The current egg drawn in MS Paint its awful. It doesn’t fit at all with the art in the game.

The patch note for that change should have read: “Reduced quality of product.”

Prime Time would be universal per datacenter. For example, all worlds in NA would have the same 6 hour period (of highest activity) as their Prime Time hours. All EU woulds would have a different 6 hour range for their Prime Time.

I may not be understanding this. So no matter how much of a numerical advantage one side has in these 6 hours it is max points, but another time segment where people are evenly matched and really earning their points would count for less?

I think four of us in my guild have Kraitkin. We’re our own special Kraitkin Club.

I think Rodgort is my least seen legendary. And yet, one of my favs

I have all three underwater legendaries, and I transmuted the skins on all of my characters. I’ve seen some of them a fair bit in fractals.

Howler (mentioned elsewhere in the thread) and Rodgort were my first two legendaries. I used to see Howler a bit more, but Rodgort I’ve seen on maybe two other players.

Jotun Greatsword is the one notable skin I’ve never seen anyone else using. I’ve been told that if you use certain graphics settings that were posted on the TC forums, the cloud effect looks like three marshmallows stuck on the blade and raising the settings makes it look better, so system performance might be part why it isn’t used by more people considering how cheap it is.

World Linking Feedback [merged]

I’ve played in T1 and T6-2. The lower tiers I feel for because you guys have been allowed by ArenaNet to use WvW as a gate humping karma experience. I don’t want to hear we have small ops and focused battles. Maybe from time to time, but my experience in lower tiers showed a bunch of people who roamed from tower to tower and capped while there was no opposition in that time. Whoo fun, fun and in no way a modified PvP/Mass Combat game mode. Finally Anet is being true to the game mode. About time!!

Having played from Tier one to T5, I saw much more “gate humping karma experience” in T1 and T2, where the biggest blob rolls around capping things and the sides with the smaller blobs back cap or get rolled over. For all the talk about how this was to help the lower tiers, the most complaints I saw prior to the change in regard to fixing population balance were in the higher tiers. It seems much more like the smaller servers were sacrificed to try to fix the stacking happening in T1 and T2 and to a lesser extent in T3 and T4 than for the benefit of or to fix the lowest tiers.

If there was some intent to not reward empty play, there would be reduced points and rewards given to servers and players when their side had a numerical advantage. The linking is just a kluge to fill the maps.

The first thing I thought when I logged into the alpine BL was OMG I don’t remembering it looking so bad. Quality, not content wise. Conversely, the DBLs were nice from a quality standpoint in regard to textures and things, but the brown, brown content was a drag. It seemed to follow on the base game where you went from amazing areas to average areas to the darkness of Orr. Then came the destruction of nice areas in living story and the brown, brown deserts of dry top and silverwastes, and the “jungle” in HoTthat is more desert/post-apocalyptic than jungle.

I’m having a hard time understanding how rolling over, farming and or spawn camping people in NA or EU when a side has a numerical advantage is highly skilled while doing the same thing in OCX or SEA is skillless. If there is going to be a reduction based on the amount of competition you face, it should be 24/7.

I can understand the sentiment. If people don’t want to play with duelers, people tagging up to do dailies or guild missions, people who don’t want to join on the “official” tag, people without meta builds or certain equipment, uplevels, or whatever, giving them a place to play sGvG isn’t a bad idea. It appears to be what they are asking for…

Ask for the roamers, to stop attacking them because only want to do daily and missions? Yeah, that’s called PvE, they are in the wrong place if can’t handle the player versus player aspect.

As has been pointed out and apparently some people conveniently ignores is that duelers are usually roamers. You know, those players who engage the other roamers trying to flip your camps, the ones who flips your own camps back, kills sentry, yaks, give important intel about zerg movements and tracks, refresh siege, kill the enemy zerg tail.

I’d like very well to see a server function without any roamer, want to see the zerg go rolling through all and wasting time and their ppt bringing 50 people to flip camps and go on searching the other zerg and etc.

It is a PvP map, so is it too much to ask from people to understand and keep that in mind when they enter the WvW realm?

You took my post completely the wrong way. It had nothing to do with the roamer not attacking people. It was in reference to the people that are intolerant of anyone on the map not doing what they want them to do, play the way they want them to play, etc. If they want a restricted environment, then ANet should make them a sGvG area.

I like getting map completion out of the way first and doing clovers as I accumulate stuff, then finishing clovers if necessary and moving on. I did map completion last the first time and it was awful.

From my perspective 1 vs. 1 fights as well as 10 vs. 10 or 15 vs. 15 should be implemented in PvP. Why so? It starts with fairness. All players in PvP have the same (potential) armor, weapons, etc. Furthermore, they dont interfere in the normal attacking/defending PvP. It is annoying when I want to check if a tower is under attack and get stopped by a player who thinks it is fun to fight a player who doesnt want to. It gets even worse when we talk about groups chasing me. I sometimes run to our zerg and they rolled over them but that cannot be the solution. What annoys me most are those players who camp in front of the spawn. When you already control the map, then leave us some space to breath! It like jumping on a dead body. Dont you have some honour?

Edit: Fights up to 5 players are already possible in PvP arenas (hot-join). However, I would enjoy if arenanet develops more in this direction and gives the players an incentive to leave WvW.

The API endpoints in discussion are for authentication. That is primarily a matter of privacy and identity. It is not security in any but the broadest pedestrian PHP app “programmer” definition of such things.

That is an interesting perspective. One I’m not sure I agree with. I guess it is a matter of what you consider a pedestrian, enterprise “security analyst” definition of such things.

Wouldn’t it be cool to see a T6 server linked with a T8 server competing in a T1 match against 2 T1 servers where the T6/8 wins?

Even if the matches are lost, I’m excited about the shear match diversity this test will bring for everybody. This will bring people back and reward tracks will attract new people, who cares if it’s permenent right now, it doesn’t need to be.

I don’t share th he optimism regarding the T1/T1 v T6/T8 thing. The likely effect is the lower tier team getting slaughtered and the players quitting or transferring to a higher tier server to avoid having to go through it again.

I’ll suggest FA, just because I moved there a month or so ago from TC before the first wave of stacking started. There are a ton of nice people and there is an upbeat and positive playing environment. It is what TC used to be before the OnSl-OnS cross-server guild shadiness and “old forum people vs new forum people” toxicity.

Key among the benefits of FA is the lack of politics and “celebrities.” When one of the Rebellion commanders reached out to FA and wanted to talk to the server leadership, a couple guys went from channel to channel looking for them.

The responses in the channel I was in were mostly: “I don’t know who that would be.” “We have leaders?” "I’ll talk to him (accompanied by a joke about what would be said). One or two people either thought they might be one or knew one.

Consider the cost thing and the possibility of a change, but if you’re set on moving now, FA is a great place to be.

P.S. If you don’t like being pressured about teamwork or mumble, FA is good for that too.

Double team what? Not when TC has TORK and CERN consistently ignoring TCBL scouts. No one needs to even try to make a double team. LOL

TORK only uses siege or runs – they don’t fight and CERN prefers taking BL’s that aren’t manned, so they don’t like to fight either – Disco of CERN will fight, the other CERN commanders not so much.

I transferred from TC to FA about a month ago. I’ve run with Zog and TORK, and they’ve always been willing to fight, even outnumbered and in the shadow of enemy siege.

As far as double teaming, I’ve seen DB and TC double team FA garri, with TC pulling off to let DB cap. I’ve yet to see a double team as a resident of FA, unless you’re counting hitting the backline during a fight when we happen to come across one. And then we’ve just hit whoever was closest and went on to try to kill everyone we could.

As far as server stacking, my grandfather made his living as a gambler during the depression. I was raised knowing that stacking the deck is cheating and there is nothing worse than a cheat.

I’ll also note that calling cheating ‘server politics’ doesn’t make it any better.

Your changes shred the Zeal line and the Berserker line in regard to this, nerfing death from above, forceful greatsword and berserker’s power, the base berserker’s mechanic (by removing increased attack speed and adding a single stat bonus limiting the variety of builds it is useful on), eternal champion, dead or alive (150 seconds !?!?!), savage instinct and smash brawler. Did you consider WvW at all in making this?
It basically would eliminate build diversity, eliminating the Zerk and Berserker lines outside of roaming and leaving everyone else to run hammer zerg builds.

Also, the fast hands move to baseline is a huge nerf if you raise the cool down. It is better as it is than doing that.

Zeal is a guardian specialization.

I have several threads discussing balance approaches including power-creep, nerf-bat, equalize, and meta-shift. Quite frankly, I am tired of these discussions and have accepted the fact that everyone has a different idea on how balance should be done. Your comment suggest that you’re vouching for power-creep, which I’m strongly against.

On the contrary, 90% of the time I play GW2 is spent in WvW.

Was rushed when I replied, meant Strength. I’m not sure how you could be playing in WvW and think there is some kind of power creep in regard to Warriors by bringing their weaker traits and skills up to par. Your changes take a class that is barely hanging on in WvW, in some cases organized groups are only running one warrior for banner, and making it wholly ineffective. Your changes seem to be premised on the idea that to make inadequate traits and skills adequate you need to balance it by making adequate skills inadequate. That isn’t true. It isn’t balancing anything, it is just eliminating some styles of play from the class in favor of others.

Counting the days until the April patch drops and there is outcry over the Alpine maps not being part of it even though MO says as much but too many are seemingly skipping over.

Alpine maps are coming back.

They aren’t coming back in the April quarterly patch.

They are being brought up to the “current game state”, whatever that means.

Supply has to be purchased with crystalline ore and superior siege requires fulgarite to craft.

Your top 5 priorities for WvW-Overhaul

1. Stability
2. If you keep Desert maps, add gliding to them.
3. Design so that 5-15 person havoc groups/guilds have a place. The groups larger than roaming and smaller than the 20-25 person fight groups/guilds and zerg groups/guilds matter too.
4. Make sure objectives matter, if people want to stand in a flat field and GvG just to fight, give them an arena.
5. Fix speed. The idea of terrain restricting movement wasn’t bad, it just was a constant annoyance for everyone rather than kittenual mechanic. It should restrict large zergs more than smaller groups and individuals. Individuals and small groups should be able to escape larger groups rather than constantly getting steamrolled by a perma-swiftness zerg from which a few people can burst out to slow them down. At a minimum, the outnumbered buff should include a 40% speed buff.

I enjoy the vet slayer. It is an objective that leads to interactions with other players. Sometimes that is as little as chatting with another roamer waiting for it to spawn. Or, it is my guild group allowing a solo player from another server to come in and finish it after we all get a hit on it. Or, like yesterday, it is a half hour of fighting over it with another small group. All of it adds to the fun.

If something is going to be changed, let’s do something about the orange and green polyluminescent upgrades which annoy me terribly on other people’s characters and I can’t reduce the brightness on my monitor because I want to see the other colors I like…

This kind of personal preference nerf request annoys me greatly. The Dreamer sound is less noticeable than the Predator – I have both, and raid in wvw and pve with people that have both. It is hard to see where one would be objectively worse than the other, and subjectively IMO, neither is subjectively worse and both are subjectively worse than Quip, which I dislike.

The reduction from 400 to 250 is a good call.

That being said, having unlocked two of the Elite specs fully, how much I’m looking forward to the joy of seeing 150 Hero Points sitting useless in my character screens cannot be overstated.

He once submitted a ticket to tell them that they broke the visual effects (this was shortly after they broke it) and they responded saying that he should make a suggestion to see if other people want the effects….

No, yeah…

…because we totally want something that we spent 250 of each T6 mat on to be limited to brief effects that are very hard to see in the daylight and almost as hard to see in the night.

I wonder if it is the same message I got regarding this:

It would be nice if a few of the things removed from Metrica Province could be relocated somewhere in the new zone or to another zone. Specifically, I’m thinking of the staff testing removed from the Heart Quest that had the cool animations (Provide Data for Golem Assistants), the conductospheres with the cool animations, RC Golem chess and the events from Lake Jetzt.

The refractors make a big difference at night. This character is using all pyre.

Oh, and this one is in a back piece. It also worked in a ring, an amulet and an earring.
