Lol if “GvG” is the only thing these guilds enjoy and would leave if they didn’t do it then why would it hurt wvw if they left. If they don’t enjoy wvw they don’t wvw so the wvw community would gain from them leaving.

No one has asked anyone to leave the problem with “gvg” is caused by the "gvg"ers if they would simply do it in the eb jumping puzzle or at the end of the week there would not be any problems with it apart from maybe the wxp/bag farming.

At some point I am sure they will add real GvG with the gw1 game mode in mind, but it isn’t going to be what you guys expect. No game mode in this game is as simplistic as what you guys do I am sure GvG will be no exception.

I noticed more for kills, but maybe I was mistaken. “GvG” is prolly the reason if they didn’t increase it since they just sit there and farm each other.

Lack of communication between Anet/players is a huge reason for the current meta. Any relatively experienced player with some common sense could have told them this was coming. Assuming we get a balance update every 2 months, how much time out of that is spent making decisions and how much is spent working on code? We all know that kill trading is a largest part of “GvG”. If I were a dev I would have just banned everyone as soon as I found out about it. To ensure what went on in swtor doesn’t happen in this game. You can already see it in the works I am sure to the pleasure of up coming rivals. It is also most likely the reason such a small number of players are so pronounced on these forums. Speaking of espionage lol.

Lol It is completely wrong in the "GvG"ers favor lol. I reduced the number of copies sold by 50%. I could reduce it by 75% and "GvG"ers would still be under 1% of the population lol jesus some people.

If you have the wvw numbers for all servers plz show a better better reading. Make sure you link you sources though.

I agree they should just increase the custom arena cap to 20 player teams so these guys can hurry up and get tired of there garbage play and we can forget it was ever brought up.

It may not be meant to diminish the real game mode, but it does our server had people foolish enough to hold these at the times they did and it caused us to lose the lead. We should have lost the match, but there were some players from sor that were just as foolish and the reason I brought up its potential use for espionage.

Even if we win every match “GvG” is still a problem because it kills competition or at least they try to. Even in this thread you have these "GvG"ers talking down to people actually playing the game when they are 0.333333333% of the games population less than 1%.

The % above is when I use the highest possible number of GvGers rounded up along with the total number of copies sold rounded down to the nearest million then reduced by 50% so the actual % "GvG"ers make up is much lower.

The best part in all this is it wouldn’t be an issue at all if it was done in the eb jp.

On a side note anyone that cares should check out the thread they made in spvp the real pvpers are tearing them to shreds.

Lol wvw is amazing if you guys spvp you realize what a gem we have here. For some reason the extreme balance issues don’t really show in wvw apart from that it is super fun. He is prolly in the forums almost every night just on a player account. I wouldn’t reply to half of the dribble that people put on these forums. I mean these are some of the worst forums ever and not cause the devs or the mods, but the players. If they wanted any good info they have to sift through a ton of bull kitten. It is great that even the special kids have a voice, but how many does this game have 0_o lol.

3million? I actually doubt there are more than 3 thousand playing WvW actively. Combined in NA and EU. If you count the guilds on gw2gvg.com, you would get something around 1,5k players who are interested in GvG, maybe more. That would be more than 50% of the player base, and thats why you read valid concern from them about GvGs. It isn’t a small minority anymore.

We don’t have population or really coverage imbalance in t1 NA saiyr. Since the change I think the only servers out of T1 we faced were TC and DB. We are all very high to full. So I guess its skill when we win against T1 or T2 servers right? lol

Lanimal why don’t you tell me what you think they will say I think that would be much more enjoyable. You don’t really expect someone to ask like 20 commanders across multiple time zones if they heard of some kid that thinks to much of him self on the forums do you? ….No I didn’t think so.

When it comes to the combat aspect some guild have large forces and some have small each work within their means. Some of the larger forces may be able to focus on fields and position alone the smaller forces however play out a lot like spvp. All the while big or small these forces have to be wary of their and the enemies position in respect to there objectives to make sure they are the hunters and not the hunted. Along with the other strategic aspects.

You can do it with a job unless you work longer than 8 hour shifts. Some times I go to bed at 8-9 pm and get up around 4-6am to play till I have to leave for work. Sometimes I fall asleep as soon as I get home.

That’s a very nice way of saying nothing while sounding haughty. Pretty much every single GvG guild has done “real WvW” for many months now, and many of us are recognized for open field skill against large groups. I’ve played WvW almost every day of this game’s existence minus the short time it took me to reach Straits of Devastation and get bored of PvE, and most of it wasn’t spent in GvG. People like you who look down on non-T1 servers because you think it’s purely “skill” are completely mistaken. It’s like that one JQ guy who said “oh yeah Maguuma could beat JQ’s SEA zerg if only they had any skill”…what a joke. If you want to be taken seriously then please enlighten us on all this hard work you put into being T1 that isn’t recruiting more guilds to come to T1.

It takes allot to recruit guilds you have to show them you have a good program and that the alliance will be worth their time and gold. This is something that is only shown through months of effort along with the ability to share your vision.

I don’t expect foot soldiers to understand the plight of a generals, but in good communities it is something that is very apparent. We have people/guilds that pull all nighters, that go to sleep early so they can fight in other time zones, and lead everyday for the good of there community.The team work and efficiency on our servers is breathtaking. I could give you 1000 examples, but I could never portray the weight of the situations. When your doing something that means something to you and you overcome the odds it is undescribable.

I almost envy you guys I wish I was on a lower tier so I could gather forces and kill the giants all over again, but I know I would prolly never find as good of a group of guys to play with as I have found on blackgate.

Because “GvG” has such a small following and simplistic play there will most likely never be any resources devoted to it. You guys have a functional place to GvG the eb jumping puzzle. It was separated for a reason and has everything you could ask for with a little courtesy on your guys part and everyone wins. If you guys start playing with the community instead of against us you could more successfully grow your program and maybe get those things you would like to see in the future.

If you were apart of one of the skilled communities you would understand more about the prep and effort it takes along with the fact that those strats and skill you guys talk about in “GvG” is the same stuff good wvwers have been doing since the start. What your doing is just a simple version of wvw you guys have managed to gain a small following playing 52 card pickup at the sidelines of a poker game. koodos

^ really dude you guys are 15th in wvw I would think being able to take out more than 2x your number your server would be higher ranked. If you can take out 2x you number why did you loose those 3 "GvG"s and there is a big diff between the players on the top and the players on the bottom if some real wvw guilds come to your server maybe you will get lucky enough to find that out for yourself.

Wars are expensive just ask the US.

Did you play at the start of the game? At that time the winners were decided by exploitation there has been a huge change since then.

Of the valuable guild on the “GvG” site each has only around 20 players that “GvG”; try not to take credit for your WvWers work though I don’t see any of those guilds in this thread.

I am not saying you should not be able to do anything I am tracking its effect and wanted to discuss it’s potential use for espionage.

When is pax lol I can’t wait till i can spvp again. It is a shame we prolly lost a ton of players in this crap fest the last few months have been.

What kills me is they make these pretty large new content events when their spvp is in ruins. While wvw doesn’t really sparkle it works and that is more than we can say about 90% of the pve and 100% of the spvp.

For the guys talking about how long the gvgs go on if there is an oil spill and you stop the oil from flowing after a day does its effect linger or vanish.

I have been tracking the effect of “GvG” over the past few weeks on wvw north american T1 matchups . I am going to use the “GvG” ranking site along with score updates from the matchup thread to show my findings. This should put an end to the foolish notion that "GvG it doesn’t effect wvw negatively.

Findings for 8/2/13 match up:
If you guys look at the first picture it is a score update from the morning before the first gvg of 8/2/13 matchup and has blackgate ahead by 10k. The matches and scores at the start of each “GvG” are as follows:

1.Mob vs EP 8/4/13(Blackgate vs TC) Blackgate 10k points ahead
2. EP vs Rise 8/6/13 (Blackgate vs TC)
3. Tw vs Re 8/7/13 (Sor vs TC) Sor leads by 3k points
4. Tw vs Tsl 8/8/13 (Sor vs TC) Blackgate leads
the second picture was taken after the 3rd match up and shows the score tied bg then goes to take the lead by 10k. These are obvious examples of the paradigm shift caused by “GvG”.

Could “GvG” become the new form of espionage in gw2?

Even though people talk about how bad warrs were I would take them in my pug tpvp groups because I knew good warriors they were almost just as good as a thief for fast responding and better at objectives. The whole warr drop was because warrs could no longer insta gib people and objectives with 1k blades+haste good warriors were still functional and though they did need a small buff it was taken overboard. When the game is fixed and aoe and condi is toned down warr will most likely be top class.

It wouldn’t care darnis as long as it made the legitimate players game better.

Don’t get it twisted I want you guys to be able to do what ever you enjoy as long as it does’t effect me. I saw a post about world pvp and it hit me if they added a flagging system like the pve servers in wow had that did not flag your reped guild the whole world could be your playground, other guilds could guest over, and you would not be effecting wvw.

I play DD lb s/d ranger with troll urgent for roaming and healing spring for group stuff. When yaking I am not afraid to take on 2 people.

lol look at the classes sol plays ranger may very well be the one with the highest skill req.

It would be cool to see an outlaw system like in runes of magic or even something as simple as flag on flag off. It would give "GvG"ers a huge playground and give little used content some use.

I have stopped keeps from being upgraded for hours before and had a ton of fun while doing it. I don’t roam really I choose a sentry point and hold it cutting off supply and killing any players that attempt to pass. I can get more points from pure yaking, but don’t get as many 1v1 and 1v2s. I do however know my exact contribution every time I report inc or keep a keep t1 untill my faction caps it.

The combat/class-design is great though it doesn’t shine because aoe is really the only mechanic that can be seen with the current imbalance. A few months ago spvp was fun though it had balance issues even then noted above. Since then we have had the addition of new abilities (torment) it will require re-balance this will take time what bothers me the most is that the balance issues from months ago were not only not addressed but were exacerbated. While I do believe there are problems its not in the games core it is balance and obvious incompetence or neglect on the part of the spvp team.

WvW matches are just different over here

Thats a bummer we built some pretty well rounded servers in NA jq bg and sor are pretty much 24/7 with dragonbrand and tc close behind.

Tsubus that is a great idea, but at least in NA there are only 22 active guilds the rest were just targets more or less as they have no wins. Without server mobility the matches really rely on who is active in your tier if there is no one active you are either not active or find a target.

It is a server issue, but not just a server issue I doubt other servers are as close nit as blackgate and you don’t…. get close match ups… you make them.

If you don’t already understand your not going to. My advice is read the Art Of War or Platos the Republic these will help you understand cause and effect among other things.

It is about the tide of battle and momentum sadly it is something I can’t teach you about here.

Another example is blackgate had 2 gvgs last week one at reset and one on sunday both against sor and their first loss in weeks the winner was jq with no gvgs.

I don’t know if millenium has a score time lines if they do look at the time of the matches on the gvg site and compare them with the point swings, but don’t assume your ignorance is fact.

You’re running over two guilds. That’s at least 40v50. Throw on top of that all the spectators that will join in and you got at least 80v50. Have fun.

Lol it’s exhausting explaining everything rationally. A third party group would most likely not attack you because they have a free map to take. One of your own factions on the other hand have enough of a reason to crash the party, but in all reality will prolly be too busy trying to carry the map undermanned with the distraction of “GvG” on it.

Depending on the time it is done it can have a huge effect or none at all. If it is done early in the week it can turn the tide for the whole week by granting a server a foothold where they would not normally. If done late in the week or in the jp it has little to no effect on the outcome.

In the NA T1 match up 2 weeks ago bg had a 10-20 k lead a bg guild was challenged to a gvg and pretty much gave up the whole map during it(a pve guild at that) because of this offset sor gained the lead by mid week. Lucky enough for bg a sor guild was foolish enough to organize a gvg before they got to far ahead and bg was able to pull ahead by 10k in the end.

Turning the tide of battle is not a hard, but “GvG” happens to directly question the value of the achievement set upon.

If you hold your battles in the EB jp you don’t have to worry about taking player spots, loose critters, or zergs running you over.

You GVG guys realize you have the best place ever for your GVG battles right at your finger tips? A place you can fight your hearts out and never interfere with the ongoing WvWvW battle? A place that has maps within the maps? Haven’t guessed yet?

You ever consider the Eternal Battlegrounds jumping puzzle? The whole map can be your personal battleground, heck did you know they even have an arena inside the place? So there you go problem solved, its a win win for all, you get your GVG and everyone doesn’t have to wait in a long queue till your finished.
