Bah, yet another bad lineup with one server dominating the other 2. I’m terribly disappointed in the ‘new’ rating system that was implemented that would solve it all and ‘needed’ a few weeks to settle down!

I usually love to WvW, but this week is the third time in a row that we (Gandara) get a matchup where one server zergrolls over the other two. This week we face Elona’s Reach [DE] (rank 3) and Far Shiverpeaks (rank 16) , of which the first is currently zergblobbing the other two servers at 02:00 AM (they nearly have all borderland maps and the only fight happening is on EB).

So for now, I leave WvW for as it is and can’t be bothered by it anymore until the matchups become more decent and fun to do again…

Wouldn’t it also be useful that the weekly match-ups gets validated by an ANet employee to prevent these kind of huge mismatches? I agree that the system may need to learn, but this is something that just can’t happen!

Several options here:
1) Just remove WvW reward points etc from this zone as well as from the chest, and you’ll surely notice a steady decline in the ‘groups’ camping (since there is no reward for it, with the only exception of making other people feel bad).

2) Alternatively, what I always do is shout in WvW if there are people interested in going into the puzzle, often leading to a group of 4-8 people. We then team up and go through the puzzle together as a group. When we encounter an enemy group it depends on the enemy. If they attack one of us, they get (very often) killed. If they leave us alone, we leave them alone.

3) As a final option: dominate the EB battle on your realm! This to ensure that no reinforcements can come into the puzzle through their keeps, since you already own them!

Regarding the dungeon difficulty: I was also unable to complete the dungeon with regular pug groupings. This in contrast to my Master Dungeon title and beating nearly all other content. Basic point: dungeon content is hard (especially the barrage part of the end-boss, this causes lots of deaths and griefs (which is good!)), timeframe to complete it is too short!

Regarding the availability of the dungeon after the content expires, I would like point out that we could use the help from Gumphrey the Traveler (see a suggestion thread I generated a while back – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Gumphrey-the-Traveler-revisit-LS-dungeons/first#post2347866 ).

The majority of fun dungeons that appeared during specific live events (Wintersday, Mad King Thorn and Dragon bash excluded) will never be available to us players, even though we do enjoy playing that content.

For that purpose I would like to suggest that we should all vote for Ghumphrey Sandford (a.k.a. “the Young Traveler”) to start visiting us in LA! Gumphrey himself is a decendant from Nicholas Sandford (GW1) who loves to tell stories about past events and tells these in such a way that it feels as if you’re re-living the same moments through his eyes. Since he loves to travel and gather stories, he won’t be staying long in LA, but will visit the city at least 4 times per year!

In practice, this means that Gumphrey would allow his audience access to Living Story dungeons that are no longer available (i.e. Southsun Cove, Flame and Frost, Sky Pirates, …) and will not be repeated. However, after telling a story Gumphrey needs to eat and will lay a claim on a part of the dungeon rewards (i.e. by diminishing the living-story specific rewards (recipes excluded) and disabling the Living Story achievements (which are only meant to be completed / gathered during the live event!)). If we’re very lucky, Gumphrey can be persuaded to be very generous and reward us with a present containing a random dungeon token set after completing the instance (i.e. every time you complete the dungeon, you get the standard dungeon reward and a random token set!).

This of course assumes that these Living Story dungeons will never ever be available in any form (which would be a real shame!!) and in this way people are offered a chance to redo these fun dungeons and still get rewarded for them.

Therefore, I hope the community welcomes Gumphrey the Traveler with open arms!

Where to find Ascalon Aetherblades?

Hello,

Just a quick question:
Where to find the Ascalon Aetherblades to kill to get the achievement? I’ve completed the Maguuma and Krytan ones by looking around for holograms (that you can’t activate) and that was no problem at all. Their locations were usually fixed.

However, I’ve scouted through all holograms in Diessa’s Plateau, Plateau of Ashford and Fireheart Rise to find out that all holograms there are normal holograms and none of them triggers the Aetherblades. I even went to a low populated server with similar results.

Therefore: what’s the best place to get the Ascalon Aetherblades achievement?

Hmm, odd. I was always under the assumption that when a player re-enters the instance (be it a dungeon, be it a fractal), that that player always enters the instance as a ‘dead’ player.

Especially when the team is in combat.

First of all, thank you for responding to an issue that seems to be going on for quite some time. It at least gives us a sparkle of hope that it is being looked into! (-:

To answer your question: it seems to happen rather frequently at the start of the aforementioned fractal. More specifically: it starts to kick in from the third and/or fourth Harpy Hunter (the first two are rather easily killed). In my run yesterday as a mesmer the whole team had issues with the invulnerability up until the part where we decided to ‘just evade them’ and run through to the room with the 4 mini-bosses (rabbit, veteran grenadier, etc). In that room we were all able to get out of combat and went back to assault the Harpies. At that time these beasts were still gloating at us with their immortality buff (read: invulnerable).

This issue might be related to ‘hiding behind objects’ and them not able to hit you, since we all often jumped down to resurrect a fallen team member who got hit/slaughtered/thrown off the plateau. Otherwise I am in the dark as to what may be causing this.

Also worth mentioning is that there were no further issues with the remainder of the fractal.

probably has been mentioned a lot, but it still is an issue. During FotM in the Asuran fractal (Uncategorized Fractal) the starter area is at times completely bugged.

You hit some harpy hunters, jump back down to rez your team, and once you get back at the top, you notice that ALL harpy hunters are invulnerable to your attacks. Sure, you can just run through, but there are times (especially at higher tier fractals) where a party member is unable to do so. So this is blocking team progress.

Is this something that can be looked into?

P.S.: They become hittable again once you get Out of Combat, however, if you jump down again and go back up, they’re all invulnerable once again…

Well, to counter the player camping and such ANet could implement a so called ‘dungeon timer’. I.e. after 20 minutes of being in the dungeon you get booted from the dungeon (assuming that a normal ‘run’ takes 15 minutes). If you die during these 20 minutes, the timer will be reset (note: death needs to be done by player’s hand, not by a falling death). After being booted, your character cannot enter the instance for the next four hours or so. Otherwise people may just re-enter after they’re booted.

Regarding the mesmer issues at the start of the puzzle: would be cool to implement an invulnerability buff (as you have in the entrance WvW areas) that lasts up to 1 minute. This one minute should give you plenty of time to head for the parts of the puzzle that makes your toon invisible as well as discourages people to camp in front of the entrances. How you would make it to the end would then be your call!

Alternatively: more invisibility sources could be added, so a non-thief can do the dungoen in a stealthy way.

Chopping Wood results in a Ruined Log

As the topic states, there are times when you receive a ruined log while chopping down a tree. I’ve been observing this rather unusual issue and it often happens when you get 2 wood pieces in one hit with the help of the the WvW bonus. One wood piece is normal, the other is ruined. See screenshot below.

It seems that my original message was unclear (poster removed his reply).

To illustrate the situation with regards to my original post:
- After posting previous reply a stack of the same potions was put up for 79c/piece (basically for illustration purposes).
- I bought one potion and if this potion would be sold on the BLTC again (screenshot) then the BLTC returns the 79c/piece listing as the lowest selling item (and not the 78c/piece).
- However, I do think that my 78c/piece are still on the BLTC (assuming they are part of the 750 pieces in screenshot 3 of previous post), I find it strange that their values are not returned in my ‘lowest selling item’ box.

Therefore I am wondering that IF the 78c/piece stack gets sold, will I still get the sale revenue? (:

I hope this clears it up a bit.

Sure. I have several items where this is happening, but the most obvious example is the “Powerful Potion of Centaur Slaying”.

As you can see on gw068.jpg (top screenshot) the item is listed in my Items I’m Selling-list for 78c per piece and was listed 15 days ago.

However, putting up a new stack on the BLTC shows that the Add to my lowest listing part is empty (middle screenshot)!

Edit Attached a third screenshot displaying the current prices on the BLTC. As you can see there are 760 units available at 78c! I just hope my 250 are still listed in there! (-:

I hope you don’t mind me blurring out all other stuff (trading secrets and such (-; )

Hello,

I am unsure if this is a bug or not, but I noticed something odd in the ‘add to my lowest listing’ category when selling a product.

Let’s assume that 1 month ago I bought 10x item X and put up the item for 10s each. One week later the same 1x item X was bought, but placed on the BLTC at a higher price (let’s say 11s).

Here’s the issue: if I sell the object through both conventional methods ( “Sell on trading post” —> “Select item” or “Sell at Trading Post”), only the 11s item is listed as the lowest priced item. However, all 10x item X at 10s are still present in my selling list.

Recently the local.dat file was removed from my guild wars folder (was 130 Mb and the BLTC as well as the loading screens were very slow), so I thought this may possibly explain the issue. However, prior to this posting I removed the local.dat file again, but the same issue is still at hand (item X’s lowest price is 11s, and not the 10s!).

My main question however is: Will I lose the possible revenue from the 10x item X placed at 10s or not?

If needed a support ticket can be created providing some more clear examples, but as said, I have no idea if this is considered a bug.

The game client lost its connection

Same issue here. Since game launch no problems at all with connectivity, but about 12 hours ago this problem started to happen to me as well.

Can play fine for 20 seconds, then suddenly some lagspikes (3-5 seconds) with a 50% chance to disconnect after each spike (resulting in the error message above or a message that the log-in servers could not be reached).

I live in Belgium and play on a EU realm (Gandara).

Edit: All other webservices are working fine (i.e. youtube, etc)

As the topic states, it seems that the downed skill “Vapor Form” from the elementalist skilltree increases Death Penalty by one point after it’s being used. I have no idea if this was/is intended or if this is a bug.

However, this makes the skill pretty much useless if you’re already in the ‘red’ DP area: if you then use Vapor Form, you can teleport to a safe spot, but get instantly killed!

It looks like it’s bugged, but it’s not.

It seems that you have to reap the 500K XP in a single map, without logging off or dying. I noticed that it was increasing during the last Lost Shores event (got up to 440K and then I died in an event). Afterwards, I was able to achieve the full title on my lvl 80 guardian when leveling armorsmithing from 225 to 400!

The only thing I truly hope is that everyone that attends it is able to complete it. So far the majority of the fighting events result in either huge lag or invisibility issues (as happened during the Kessex hill event in Act I)! Basically, you can’t complete the event because you can’t hit anything / participate at all!

Hm, I don’t like to troll. I don’t like to complain. I like GW2 a lot.

However, I’m currently a bit baffled about launching an event in a major city. Isn’t it then expected that these districts will be swarmed with people at one specific location, which in turn leads to major lag spikes?? This really isn’t enjoyable.

One moment… I’m now rapidly pressing skill 1 and have to wait after I submit this forum thread to see it executed </exaggeration>. Whoops, I’m dead and didn’t even see that one coming. </sarcasm> q-:

I truly hoped that the large attendances at dragon events would have been a good lesson that it is not a good idea to put that many players in a small area at the same place.

Therefore the question to ANet: for the remainder of the weekend event, please put a lower pop limit on the LA districts (or at least in the few hours of launching the acts, the population will die out after the events repeat)! (-:

No. I’m not in favor of this idea. Why? Two groups that would get an immediate advantage:

1) Bots!
2) Night capping zerg!

Bots will get a significant advantage once they know the ‘spoils of war’ that can be earned through PvP in WvW can also be learned by just zerging up random keeps.

Nightcapping teams which are outnumbered by other realms will have an easier time getting the ‘better’ WvW gear by zerg rushing all maps and get enough tokens to buy yet another exotic wvw gear piece.

True, the impact will not be that extremely huge, but botters exploiting the game will always do so!

Imho, I’d say: do not change this. If you feel like this badge thing is a grind, then MMOs in general are not for you q: Alternatively, do the borderland jumping puzzles on your alts. 3-5 honor badges per toon!

Commander icon/sign always visible

Old bug report, but it’s still happening. And yes, it catches your eye when you’re in cities like LA and distracts a lot.

Please disable the commander visibility option in PvE / sPvP areas and only show their icon during WvWvW.

Having the same issue. Loading times increased from i.e. 15-20 seconds to 1 minute and longer per loaded map! Occasionally I have to quit the game after waiting for >2 minutes, since that is faster.

You bring up some good points regarding how it can be exploited. But the game itself keeps track of a lot of guild actions, including guild members joining and leaving. One can then add an additional criteria to check the history of the ‘small’ guild to ensure that the number of unique members was lower than 20 for, let’s say, the past 30 days? This to partly prevent the exploitation you mentioned above.

I have no real issues with losing the influence (after all, a price has to be paid). What really concerns me is the loss of the guild vault (the architecture tree), since that took us a long time to acquire. If that can somehow be made region-wide, then we would be quite happy! (-:

The OP brings up some good points, but I have only one concern: what about the human players that are only able to play during nighttime? Even if they are a group of 10 that want to participate at that event, they will not be able to do so due to the ‘improvements’ you mentioned above.

Several suggestions to add to that list:
- Events should occur at a random location, relatively close to the original area (with really no pattern at all in the localization, since bot programmers will definitely catch this and adjust to it).
- Put a timer on event rewards. For example, events that start up frequently give you a reward once every 20-30 minutes. Chained events once every hour. This should diminish the income of the botters and should not affect players, since they can find other things / events to do.
- Just report players you suspect of botting as bots! Even that helps!

Currently our whole guild (~8 close friends) wants to move to a new realm within the same region (EU). We have been playing the game since pre-launch and have acquired quite some nice influence assets.

However, if we do want to proceed with this transfer, all progress will be lost (no guild vault, no influence, not to mention the item bonuses that raise influence are lost too). For larger guilds this is not much of a problem, since they gain influence at a faster rate. But this realm transfer puts smaller guilds at a disadvantage.

Therefore, I would like to suggest the following:
- Small guilds (< 20 persons) should be allowed to designate a ‘home realm’.
- This home realm can only be set once every 6 months, this to disallow ‘realm hopping’, or make it available for in-game gems (i.e. 1200 gems)
- All assets and upgrades (guild vault, etc) will be transferred to this home realm, but with a cost (i.e. 20% less influence / remove all banners / lose guild vault content)
or
- All assets and upgrades (guild vault, etc) are converted to influence points, which are made available on the new ‘home realm’.

This is just a basic suggestion, and I hope more people will pick it up so it may get implemented! Players that have other solutions are also encouraged to post in here!
