It will be sometime between 9am PST and 5pm PST. Those are the regular office hours for ANet.

On the 23rd? That’s 4pm – 12pm GMT, so we almost get it a day late?

Normally the time for the holiday stuff to drop is at Noon PST. It’s been that way since almost the start of the first GW. And normally they have specified the time.
BUT since they are dropping an expansion at the same time they have not said the exact time so therefore a guess of sometime between 9am PST and 5pm PST is close to what it will be.

Any specific time anyone (besides ANet themselves) gives is just a guess and only a guess.

So in other words, between 10am PDT and 6pm PDT.

They always said that it’s a problem because of how Tyria’s races are so different in size. Having a personal emote with the character sitting on his own chair would solve that. Basically how it was done in Swtor, it baffles me how this is still not an option.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited has this option as well.

Halloween Event - Yay!

Halloween is the best event of the year.

What is the worst event of the year?

Based on yearly events (and not promo events), none. Anet has always had a great track record when it came to holiday events. They were always extremely well done and fun to boot. Even in GW1, the yearly holiday events were a sight. It was always one thing I could count on with Anet to exceed at.

But if you just want basic events, including promos for upcoming content, then check out the Karka Invasion (which was still fun, but a disaster at the same time). Or the more recent Mordrem Invasion…. just ouch.

Thank you for the info and I totally agree. ANet has always done the holiday events right!

It’’s too bad that Cantha isn’t currently accessible in GW2 since the Canthan New Year holiday events in GW1 were always fun as well.

Similarly to how the emergence of the cross-country telegraph poles/lines eventually put the Pony Express out of business after about 18 months?

In the “some other MMO’s already have this” department: The Elder Scrolls Online has a /sitchair command that summons a chair that your character then sits on (not to be confused with the /sit command that has your character sitting on the ground).

It’s pretty handy, particularly in taverns and inns.

Anyone else ONLY play humans?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Torvic.8256

Torvic.8256

For the most part, I lack a proper imagination when it comes to MMOs. I am a human male, so I struggle to identify in a game with anything other than a human male. My character’s looks very rarely deviate from my own. I don’t RP or anything like that, but for some reason I just feel like my avatar should be as close to me as I can get. Almost like “If I were born into this world, I’d probably still be some version of me” sort of thing.

Any other unimaginative wierdos like me out there? =D

Yay, someone else like me x)

I only ever play human males made to look as close to me as possible (including physique and height etc)

I don’t know why but I just like having myself in the game as if I was in that world instead of this one. I prefer it to playing as some random cat thing that I have no relation to.

I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who does that!

And yes, I’m a human male both in-game (in fact, in all of my games) and in real life.

ESO brought me back to GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Torvic.8256

Don’t get me wrong, I still love GW2 too.

I suppose what’s helped me not get tired and/or burned out on any one MMO is that I tend to rotate between several of them once every few weeks depending what I’m in the mood for, playing only one or two of them at any one time.

In my case lately, the rotation has included GW2, TESO, DC Universe Online, Marvel Heroes, Star Trek Online and The Secret World, with non-MMO’s Battlefield 4, FIFA 15 and Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag thrown into the mix as well (all of them on my PC except for FIFA 15 and AC:BF, both of which I play on my PS4).

I suppose the only downside to rotating once every few weeks like that is that I don’t advance as quickly in any one game as I would’ve if I’d concentrated only on one or two games for several months or even years.

As for TESO, my only real quibble with it is that (as had been stated earlier in this thread) there’s currently no actual Ranger class available.

I’ve been enjoying both GW2 and TESO for quite a while and will continue to do so. In fact, they’re both my fantasy-based MMO’s of choice.

They’re just different enough from one another that I don’t feel like I’m playing the exact same game. Still, among other things, they’re two of the most beautiful looking MMO’s I’d ever experienced.

Agreed Although LotRo was visually stunning back when I played that, as well.

Also agreed. Though somewhat less so than both GW2 and TESO (not surprising considering the age disparity), LotRo is still a beautiful game.

Among the other aspects of TESO that I’ve been very impressed with is with many of its quests’ narratives with their interesting twists, turns and resolutions.

Torvic.8256

And at least in my mind, my GW2 ranger (as is his sister, obviously) is definitely of Ascalonian ancestry since he’s a direct descendant of my GW1 ranger.

The fun thing about ancestry over 250 years is that your original character makes up just around 0.1% of the new character’s ancestry from that period. The other 99.9% don’t necessarily have to be Ascalonian.

Especially since the Ascalonians were driven from Ascalon in GW1?

I remember at launch talking to the speed boon people to max out my Charisma, which didn’t do anything at all.

Then they removed it, but still didn’t remove it entirely. Now it makes less sense then before. You get an option on the character creation, and you get options in a few NPC dialog but thats it. It’s not on the Hero page, its not listed anywhere at all. But remains as options to be selected but leaves people to question it’s very existence.

Will it perhaps be reintroduced with the next chapter (whether it’s Living Story or an expansion)?

Human ancestry question important?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Torvic.8256

Torvic.8256

You’re quite welcome.

Heritage isn’t an option during character creation, only during that part of the story as a result of selecting the dead sister path during character creation. We get options for: social class, regret, deity, and profession-based choices. I haven’t made a new one in a while, but they probably still ask the personality question even though it’s been removed from the hero screen.

I wonder why they removed the personality question from the hero screen.

In any case, I’m glad that I chose my ranger’s ancestry question to Logan “correctly” even if I hadn’t designated it as such during character creation (my ranger does indeed look Ascalonian, with lighter skin, blue eyes, dirty-blond hair, etc.). I suppose that I would’ve had to come up with some in-story explanation to myself if I’d given Logan one of the other answers and my ranger’s sister then ended up looking either Krytan, Canthan or Elonian.
