I think you don’t understand fight groups. I promise you the only reason a group like that hits objectives is to bring fights too them. The only reason they PPT is to get out of a dead tier. This simply gives them an OS like place without all the issues OS has. Nothing would be lost for anyone.

Well that would be peachy and also highly unlikely.
This takes a rarely used area with wasted art assets and makes it functional.
OK, however any fight group wouldn’t care about any objective on that map as the proximity to the oasis wouldn’t grant tower/keep buffs. If anything that map would be as safe as it is now, or safer. Also whoever controlled the map is not likely to interfere with fight groups going about their business.
We can all agree, some White Knights notwithstanding, that the DBL is not the most popular map. Nothing about that would change except there is actual decent fighting terrain in one place in WvW. Terrain that could (in theory) support multiple different engagements.

I’ve been saying for ages, clear out the oasis in the middle, make it completely flat with no funky terrain, mobs or ambients. DBL would be the most popular map for those groups that just want fights. The PPT crew and the K-Train heroes can go ham on the alpine bl and all the fight groups are nicely tucked away out of sight and mind. Win/win.

I appreciate your sentiment and I probably failed to echo it in my original post.
Servers were in terrible shape and something had to be done. Linking IMO had some disastrous effects overall. One cannot just brush off the destruction of communities with a flippant statement. Most communities had websites, councils, war chests, Teamspeaks etc etc etc.
All I can see from the Linkings was a slow ignominious death of proud communities rather than a fast server merge that may have been less damaging in the long run.
Water under the bridge at this point as the whole wvw population has shrunk to a manageable level. Albeit an ever shrinking and unhappy one.
Obligatory resume… Been around for a while.
The advent of server linking initially seemed like an elegant solution to a larger problem however, imho it seems that it has created a much bigger problem for its Band Aid fix.
The simple folding of smaller servers into larger, more established servers pretty much killed any community those servers had, or at best it is a few guilds hanging on by a thread.
The reduction of a large tier system has boiled everything down to 4 tiers of a whole lot of “Don’t give a kitten”
The bandwagon effect from guilds and players has further eroded any semblance of server identity.
Guild migration has undermined server trust to the point that most guilds are barely noticed.
MOST OF ALL. We are all getting to know each other, and rivalry is becoming less important.
In closing, Linking made WvW seem more active than it was but at the cost of every server, great and small.

DBL is so bad on every level. Looks pretty but not conducive to fighting. Designed by people who don’t actually play WvW. Maybe a good add on for Dry Top or something.
Again… this really won’t affect most of the players in WvW. How many groups have any of you ever seen running full rev resistance uptime? Only the top groups that roll over you all the time any way.
If anything this is a passive buff for warriors and zerker stance.
Everyone should get a tag free of charge, not like it matters anyway.

Constant DC from wvw since patch.
PC is fine, yes I restarted my modem.
The longest I can stay connected is 8 minutes before rubber banding then disconnecting.
Mostly agree with OP. The issue , as I see it, is that the balance team is to restricted or afraid to shake things up. We get handed a patch and we live with that for however long until the next one. If they had a person in charge and watching that tweaked constantly then the game would stay fresh. Didn’t play GW1 but I’ve heard they had a dude who was pretty on top of that.
Pin sniping is lame, make all the excuses you want but it is just weak gameplay from weak groups. Get good and fight.

Nobody is happy right now, the attrition rate of players is staggering and the feedback from you is next to nothing.
We (the people who play your game and keep it rolling despite the silence) are dwindling daily.
We just want feedback, tangible feedback, not innocuous polls.
I love this game and I love WvW but every single day my friends list is diminished.

Again a good point, however completely flat terrain without ambient creatures would be the attractive feature. I am picturing the perfect Death Match area.
That is a good point, however I would suggest that, though many GvG guilds have left, there are still many guild groups of varying quality and seriousness that just want fights.
This like an open OS.
Bear with me on this.
I suggest make the oasis a completely flat surface. No funky terrain, no trees, no cliffs or Ewok homes, just a flat open plain.
It is equal running distance from all spawn points and would become the ideal place for groups to fight. In the blink of an eye it would become the most popular BL.

You think a 2-1-1 scoring system will kill wvw? i’m more concerned about the lack of fights in wvw and lack of growth(guilds,commanders etc) ppt is all about holding stuff and that’s not fun. Should be about epic fights.
Well “Lack of growth” is really all the players fault TBH. There is almost no point in new guilds because the Blob play mentality is all the rage and the new Pin Snipe fad quickly discourages anybody new from tagging up. This is not A-Nets fault.
A Squad Only tag should be a no-brainer.

Same here, the game is basically unplayable for me, also the lag follows me to all aspects of the game including WvW.
The current implementation of this is pretty terrible imo.
Perhaps if they’d been modeled a bit more after mid 18th century cannons which were heavy, expensive, wildly inaccurate and took forever to reload, I could see a case for them.
As it stands WvW really didn’t need more siege. At this rate it will soon just be an MMO version of Angry Birds.
From a WvW perspective this change is long overdue. Boonshare was a massively OP crutch used to promote cheese gameplay.

Step #2. Tag up.
Step #3. Run however you see fit.
I see a lot of complaints here from players about the current metas or class discrimination from Commanders. Bottom line, if you follow a tag is their rules. Don’t like the rules? Follow another tag or tag up yourself.

We beta tested the DBL and provided video for the hack into East Keep, yet it remains unfixed. Clever use of game mechanics at this point.

Revert Stability changes, tone down condi/boon meta and voila, smaller well coordinated groups go back to kittenting all over blobs.
Blobs complain followed by different inane nerfs and buffs and we are right back here.
Simplest way to deal with a blob is kite them forever while your cheese build gankers pick them off one by one, bait their bomb when they peel on the gankers and driver snipe. It’s garbage play and reprehensible at best but that’s what everyone does. Nothing makes a blob get bored faster than making all the casuals play Running Simulator for a while.

I would understand if you are playing a defensive role and have a lot of time to kill while scouting or manning siege…
Yes this is an issue. We’ve reported it a few times and can only hope it gets resolved. Until then, look at it as an invisible defender with short term disablers and yell a lot in Teamspeak:)

PPK is a simple metric brought in to give fights relevance and counter the siege bunker mentality that almost killed this game.

Linking Jade Quarry or Sea of Sorrows with Maguuma solves multiple issues. Right now SoS is imploding from being matched (farmed) by Maguuma in Tier 3 and their highest populations are in completely different timezones. Tier 1 players are quitting due to being matched up against Yaks bend. Get Maguuma up there in Tier 1 hosted with an OCX/SEA-majority server. SoS/SBI won’t feel like offing themselves being matched against Mag, Tier 2 will be happy with FA vs YB (both play similarly), and Tier 1 will finally be a fights tier. Everyone wins in this scenario.

Why would any server that fights want to be matched with YB?
Pugs will always gravitate towards a tag. Most of them have limited play time and just want to blow some dudes up and get some bags. They have no concept of server, tier or anything else, and why should they?
I don’t think most of us want to be “Blobmanders” but it just happens, especially when facing the other dude with a blob. I don’t think there is any fix for this that doesn’t involve hurting a very viable player base.
