Suggestion: Raid to become daily

Well, while I do agree that the weekly reward is a bit of a turn down right now, we are definitely getting more wings/raids. A clean quick rundown takes 45 minute for this wing, make it a 1:15 average. When we have 4-5 wings, with some maybe longer, people are going to complain that they are forced to do only raid and hace no time for anything else.

I’ll go with Sabetha, our first Gorseval kill was pretty smooth and we had a good 40+ seconda left on the timer. O8verall Sabetha took us more time to take down and the fight itself is more mechanicaly intertaining to me. I won’t lie, being part of the first known team (except for DnT) to kill her made it my favorite.

However having done it over 50 times, Gorseval is definitely my favorite.

Coming from a Sword/Dagger Thief where Auto Attack was most of my DPS, Revenant is a natural transition for me. I actually did my first Vale Guardian kill today and while despite most of my skill usage was mashing 1, there was a lot of micro management for me in making sure I could use my Chaotic Release, Staff 5, and Jade Winds for break bars while also getting off some clutch rezzes with Impossible Odds+Infused Light and popping my Glint heal to be able to soak up damage while rezzing in aoe fields.

I honestly didn’t find Revenant much different from my Fractal Thief running Sword/Pistol and spamming 3 or my Warrior hitting Hundred blades and Arcing Slice when they’re off cool down then spamming 1.

People often assume that because our main source of damage is our attack, that the class is boring. Truth is while we don’t actively use our weapon skills, our utilities management is very important, keeping up as many boons as we can, while keeping up nature facet for the chrono. Being able to use jade wind, staff 5 or even keep protection up. Most Herald I see play barely use the class potential.

I remember back when one had to grind 2.5 weeks killing the same mobs over and over just to gain a level. Now, getting expansion progression to unlock all new build options for seven characters in 2.5 weeks is grind. Times sure have changed.

God forbid you died and lost more exp that you gained that day.

I played maplestory back in the days, getting 0.5% o 1% an hour, dying was 10% penalty, believe me, nobody has never been as scared of lags as I was.

I work 45 hours a week, yet still have time to get everything I want in GW2 without buying gems, if you play 5-10 hours a weeks and struggle to get ascended armor or masteries/hero point, its not the game that is the problem but your time management.

Yes, they only drop after unlocking the collection for it, for which you need HoT.

Players on the legendary journey for Astralaria III will encounter a bug involving Meteorite Ingots. Currently the recipe only provides 1 ingot, where it is intended to provide 25. We plan to fix that recipe bug as soon as we can.

If you craft only 1 Ingot before the recipe fix, all is not lost. After the recipe fix, you may speak with Grandmaster Craftsman Hobbs in Lion’s Arch and choose the conversation option “I have misplaced a vital component for crafting my Legendary.” For a small amount of Karma, you will be able to purchase Meteorite Ingots in stacks of 5. Only 25 are required for this collection.

We wanted to let you know about this before all you legendary crafters run into the issue and as we said, we’ll get this corrected as soon as we can.

I just want to make sure you guys know, it is impossible right now to even craft 1 ingots. The Aurilium sheets required for the collection are not currently available. The NPC has the sheets showing up on his tab, but it’s lock, even with all masteries, T4 map, it’s always locked.

Dont worry about that too much, we clear it pretty much everyday with that one guy name winston, constant dc, 4000 ping spike every 30 secs, but hes a dam good player so we put up with him xD.

I sometime believe Im on the wrong forum, while I am in game, people are having fun, my friend list has never been so active, same for my guild (80%+) acitivity, the game is beautiful and engaging and I finally havr end game progression!

Then I log on the forum and it’s the end of the world, children are crying, kitten are burning, donald trump has been elected president. Seriously I am not sure were playing the same game.

While they are a bit forgiving ( “one shot” mechanics doing 90%" should be one shot instead ) they are still intense and can easily wipe your team if someone space out for a second.

Timer should probably be tighter but that would perhaps only cause one comp to become the be all and end all.

For a first raid they hit the spot, hopefully next wings are a step up!.

Take the time you spend complaining on the forum and gather for 1 hour a day (more like 30 minutes if you know your spot) and you’ll have a set in 30 days, maybe having to spend 20-50 gold. I have over 12 ascended set (and over 30 weapons) and never bought any ascended mats,

we finally have something that require players to be a little dedicated and its the end of the world for you guys.

Also, we cleared the raid yesterday with a guy using some greens (masterwork), we tought he was kidding but no, he really had greens, pretty sure its doable with a full group in rares. (3 mins left on VG, 1:45 on gorseval, 1:56 on sabetha)

I am going to post all the different kind of gears we sickest guild [NA] used to get through the raid.
Not all on the same boss, we switched to fit our different comps.
Commander
Berserker
Assassin (hi gwyn)
Rabid
Knight
Viper/sinister
Cleric
Valkyrie (not all but mix and match)
Minstrel
Zealots
I know some other group used celestial and even magi. The problem that anet had with the berserker meta was the fact nothing else was used at all. Now of course DPS role are going to used berserker/assassin/sinister/viper, if you want to be a DPS and use nomad/knights/celestial you should just be the tank, different role uses different gears.

Im not saying those were optimal, but they worked, and we had over a minutes left on every bosses, even 3 on vale guardian.

This first raid wing or whatever you want to call it consists of three bosses and it was beaten the first few hours of release.

By people who had a month of beta testing that very raid under their belts. They knew the mechanics, the team comp, and had the experience. That is not a fair comparison.

I personally like the challenge of raids. It is enough to push me, but not hard enough to make me feel like it is hopeless. That is good balance in mind. Just like anything else, if you don’t like it don’t play it. If you want to play it, provide helpful critiques and learn that not everything goes the way you want it.

Don’t feed him, he made up his mind and should just quit instead of acting miserable, it upset me how people who haven’t cleared the raid yet complain that it’s too easy. With no gear grind, they are pretty dam close to being perfectly challenging, mechanic are punishing, timer are tight ( giving any class a chance to kill it and not just the one perfect comp ) while they could be a little more challenging, they are well balanced ( also vale guardian was balanced for exotics not ascended so thats a 12% damage boost we get there )

You need lots of DPS for sure, that’s no secret. The enrage timers are really strict. Maximize DPS and buffs always.

Yeah I kind of figured. I play a Zealot Druid but some people want me to go Cleric but after seeing those timer’s I think it’d be better if I stayed Zealot. I was just looking for some affirmation haha. Thanks for the info guys.

Yes and No, druid needs to be healing the majority of the time, you may be able to place a couple auto attack with sword or longbow but barely, while the survivability of cleric might help you stay alive because healer going down means other people going down.

I mean, that’s what worked for us, it’s always worth trying new stuff if what you have isn’t working, we switched class over and over until we were in a good consistent place.

Ascended Armor Required?

Well, I wish I could tell you that skills is all the matter but the truth is, timer are extremely tight, the 12% increase in fully ascended might not be necessary for the first boss, but for the second (for sure) and probably third (haven’t got there yet) it is needed. So make sure everyone is running ascended and appropriate food/utilities because it will make a difference.

This is what I hate the most about this exploit, if someone decide to do it, the whole party get teleported, I had it happen twice yesterday for dailies in low levels (not even worth skipping, I want my champ bag!), it’s not like mossman where I could just go hit him first and make sure no one get him underwater, this one I am forced teleported, I don’t often pug so it won’t happen again, but its a little upsetting.

Change your build to not use retaliation, or get another class, “hard content” is designed to force people to change strategies/builds/gameplay, if you don’t like, or don’t want to, don’t do high tier fractals, nothing forces you to.

Have you ever played guardian? Retal is part of pretty much everything they have, condi or power build, if you want to play without it, you’re stuck autoattacking with bad traits, rendering a whole class useless, I did it and it was horrible, I was either useless or giving retal, no middle ground.

But you’re right, just use another class, guardians are the new necros in 91+

I see people complain about “Fractals not hard enough, not challenging! Q_Q” everywhere in this forum, but this? Seriously? all I hear is “Please make it easier for us, take it away because it’s too hard! we get killed by our own skills” pretty much. Please get serious. This is a l2p issue.

Oh, BTW here’s a tip: What do you do when the Archdiviner or Shaman starts reflecting your Range attacks? You stop attacking till it stops. Problem solved.

It’s not the same, pretty much everything a guardian does can proc retaliaton, 3 of your best trait lines add retal to either virtue or just passively, trying to strip it is useless because it’ll come back just as fast. So you either kitten yourself extremely ( both power and condi build ) or juat do what everyone is doing, and not accept any guardian for 91+

IE : can’t use any symbol, wall of reflection because someone might leap, dodge (daredevil leap dodge) or blast it by mistake, can’t use zeal line because of passive retal symbol, can’t use virtue line because of added retal. So you pretty much just autoattack with horrible traits. Or get a revenant.

Strong heal (with no healing power), extremely good damage that benefit a LOT from alacrity, good ranged damage if needed ( and is part of the meta build ).

The one thing that kinda plays against revenant is the fact they do not benefit from alacrity, other class gain a HUGE amount of damage from that buff, rev rely on auto attack mostly and energy. Also guardian have a strong burst, which is sometime better than substain damage.

They made it clear a while ago they would no longer make gem store armor skin, armor skins will be obtain through playing the game, while gem store will have the outfits.

I’m with Nike here, it’s really depressing coming on this subforum and all we see is people nitpicking. I was expecting to see some discussion about new builds, specs, coms but all I read were complaints, while I agree there is some issues, it’s a great expansion, with extremely engaging fights/mechanic. And while most dislike it, I enjoy the bigger health pool, bosses finally feels like bosses (I don’t like the weaker but faster attack however).

Also dev do listen to players, but unlike wildstar which is mostly hardcore players who wants challenging content, anet is trying to please all crowd from phiw and more dedicated players.

And also, I can probably finf 10 thread on wildstars’forum about how GW2 does thing better and vice versa, there’s no way to please everyone, both game are great.

It’s dead-end content and injects gold from thin air (so to speak) into the economy, causing inflation. Two very good reasons to make adjustments moving forward.

How about 75 people farming 50-100 champion bags an hour handing out 2-10 silver each. That’s without counting all the blue/green being sold to merchant. Pretty sure more gold is injected in the economy by people AFK-farming Silverwaste than dungeon runners.

Wrong. The money flow and wealth generated from SW either goes directly to the gatherer via merchant transactions, or TP transactions with other players in the form of drops/salvage/mats. You might have noticed there is no end, flat gold reward in SW. I will say again, the gold rewards of dungeons come from thin air and are injected into the economy, causing inflation. That is bad.

I must also add that I see little difference between afk’ing portions of the SW events (for the record, I do not afk because I like to, I don’t know, play the game) and skipping dungeon mobs and cheesing dungeon bosses to maximize g/hr returns.

Wrong. I was referring to the raw silver they drop, every bag drops an average of 6 silvers, which is out of thin air as you say, not the items they give. Most loots from bags aren’t sold on the TP hence, not much of those silver is spent on TP taxes. And unlike dungeons which can only give reward once, people can do it all day.

And I much rather have people actually trying to be efficient (aka “cheesing” ) than just leeching of people who actually try to succeed the event (I really like being the only person defending my lane when I see 12 people up the ledge doing nothing).

I just hope that it’s a fair rebalancing and not an outright hard nerf.

They’ve been out of balance for a while (AC being worth more than everything but Aetherpath and Arah, for instance), and I’d be ok with an adjustment that brings rewards in line with relative instance difficulties.

At the same time, SW chest farming is way more profitable than dungeons, and doesn’t have a daily cap. People say dungeons are mindlessly easy, well, that’s nothing compared to playing ‘follow the leader’ and pressing F every 15 seconds.

Can someone from ArenaNet post the planned reward revisions for early feedback? Might help contain the inevitable kitten storm.

from the blog its going to be an outright nerf, he basically is saying they dont want dungeons to be ecomically feasible. The best you can hope for is that they will give item rewards, but his including the fact they want to shift focus away from it, suggests that they are not seeking to balance it, but to disincetivize it.

which honestly is seems pretty bad. Instance lovers i getting raids, but losing dungeons as a profitable action to take, and raids focus reward on 1 per week.

you ll have a lot less to do, thats effecient earning wise.

You are also assuming that one reward you get per week is actually good and not based on bad RNG…

Yep, can’t wait for this, 10% is considered high, however, I barely get 1 fractal skins every 2 weeks, and that’s doing 40-50 dailies. Now make that a weekly reward

I also want to point out “full set of sixteen weapon”, underwater combat also officially death, good job Anet, you dropped the ball big time with this.

I don’t know, if you remove the 2 additional greatswords, you have 18 weapons. Since there are 3 underwater weapons the final count should be 15 not 16. So either they scraped UW and there will be only 2 greatswords instead of three or … there will be one legendary for all UW weapon, meaning you can change it into one of the three. Anyway the price to pay for a weapon that is barely used (or not at all in the expansion) was a bit too high.

There is 21 right now, remove 2 GS you have 19, minus 3 underwaters, 16.

Don’t trust Anet numbers, they are clearly out of touch with their own games.
Underwater combat is hella fun and unique, just balancing it would make underwater content interesting to a wider range of players, instead of ignoring it and eventually remove it.

But, I can totally see what people are saying about the particle effects. That was not exactly super spectator friendly, in a way that wasn’t at all your fault.

Yes, using “effect LOD” solves the problem, however it also remove important effect, like water fields, fire fields, AoEs.

Well, wasn’t there what 4 condition damage builds and one tank or something? Zerker meta dead :P

For NA’s it was 3 sinister and 1 rabid I believe all Engi condi builds.
For LoD’s it was 2 sinister Engi, 1 cele guard and rest zerk

That’s as much as I know about it.

Yet we have people complaining, saying the beserker meta is still all that matter…

No matter what Anet does people will complain, we now have about 4-6 pretty viable different gear stats, but thats not emough, because some settler staff guardian want his little snowflake build to be optimal.

P.S. that wasn’t against you XD i replied to you because you posted the differeny build people were using.

Haha sorry, I meant to answer this too but I was a little caught up. Buffs work by subgroups. Each subgroup gets priority with their members boons. So if subgroup 1 has 2 revs and 3 other people while subgroup 2 has 3 revs and 2 other people, that’ll stagger the boons amongst those 10 players. But if Subgroup 1 has all 5 revs, well that’s wasted boons seeing as they’re all in the same grouping. If a subgroup has JUST 2 revs, they’ll give the boons to each other, then whatever may spill over will spill over by whoever is closest. Similarly if there is everyone in the same subgroup, it’ll just priorty by whoever is closest.

Ah ok thanks for the info. I’m assuming you guys didn’t have access to these subgroups since they are presumably apart of the Squad system which you guys weren’t able to utilize for the VG kill?

However since we were rotating a lot during the kill, everyone was getting might fury and swiftness maxed out without having to much problem.

I thought I remembered Anet saying somewhere boons preferred your sub squad first. Am I just misremembering or something? Or can’t you get sub squads in raids? If I am misremembering I would totally love for boons to prefer your sub squad.

Yes sub squad is prioritize, so you can make sure boons are shared the way you want. We didn’t have access to squad UI so we couldn’t make sub squad :P.

I really missed being a babysitter healbot. Not.
Staying the hell away from it for as long as I can.

I didn’t get to try out the raid due to real life keeping me busy, but I’ve been wondering about this. Raiding in other MMOs I used to play main healer or main tank exclusively, and it took a while adjusting to caring about my damage when I started to spend most of my play time in GW2.

These days though, I find that going back to being pure healer/tank/babysitter doesn’t appeal to me at all, as I’ve come to love the fact that all of my characters are hybrid damage/support. Is the need for healer and tank roles in the new raid really that specific, or is it really a matter of group composition and strategy and has a good chance of ending with more fluid/hybrid roles again?

I found having a pure healing druid to be very beneficial and is probably the reason we were able to kill it so smoothly (not a single downed state and 1:10 left).

However, being a pure healing druid in gw2 is miles away from regular healer in mmo, it looked extremely engaging and active, our healer found it to be very entertaining.

Because complaining about something you clearly did not understand well enough to succeed is spreading misinformation.

And saying things like
“By the end of the first week, you’ll be able to go in with 10 necros and faceroll it lol” Can’t wait to see that. The condition damage + overall damage to kill him before the enrage timer hit can’t be done by 10 necros.

In your post above you JUST talked about the atmosphere again, when the dev CLEARLY STATED that things were removed (Cutscene/NPC interaction) to not spoil the story. It hasn’t been positively received with everyone, but you lock those threads. I’m surprised you aren’t concerned that one random group beat your first raid boss on the first weekend!

Thats because people who haven’t actually done it are complaining about stuff they don’t know, they spread misinformation and should actually wait until they kill it before giving an opinion that’s flawed.

What’s not to know? What misinformation is being spread? Why do I have to kill the boss to be able to comment on the mechanics, the design and environment? I’ve fought the final boss. Does killing it suddenly make it better? Intriguing theory. Does getting to the end of a bad film, suddenly make that film extremely watchable?

Take some self awareness classes . please.

Because complaining about something you clearly did not understand well enough to succeed is spreading misinformation.

And saying things like
“By the end of the first week, you’ll be able to go in with 10 necros and faceroll it lol” Can’t wait to see that. The condition damage + overall damage to kill him before the enrage timer hit can’t be done by 10 necros.
“There is no cutscene or drama or build up to the boss….fair enough”

Thank you, you did an awesome job, the difficulty was on point, with no gear grind related to raid, it’s all about entertaining mechanics and punishing ones, we really liked the whole, get 4 persons into thr circle to mitigate the raid wipe along with thr telporting AOE the 2 together were very interesting.

The comp that we used was what worked for us, we still had 1:10 left on timer, Im pretty sure a staff ele could be extremely good as well, even a thief could be nice, problem is, glint on revenant is just too good to pass, having a passive 25 might, fury, swiftness, protection without having to do anything was extremely useful.

One question though, after watching the video it seems like the boss does mostly autoattacks and the biggest challenge comes from the timer and not from the boss itself.
Or am i missing something?

The biggest challenge was getting people safely into the lightning AoE while maintaining good dps on the boss, along with that, the seeker deal a naster 3-4k damage every second. Eventually when the floor start illuminating and dealing damage, getting into the aoe becomes even more dangerous.

There is also the danger of getting teleported right before a AoE spawn making it impossible for the dedicated people to reach in time, so we need to call it out really fast (you can hear us panic at one point and scream lightning over and over)

Id say most wipe are and will be from getting 4 players into the aoe in time.

Can you say anything more about the aggro system? It’s rare to hear that a boss in GW2 has manageable aggro. Was it a tank sort of thing, or an environmental thing?

Not trying to spoil the fight, btw, just interested in hearing how PvE Encounters 2.0 are going to be

It looks like the actual aggro system, but more consistent

Our tank was using toughness gear along with a shield and stayed as close as possible at all time, he never lost aggro. I think commander tag might have something to do with it as well.

What’d you like about the fight? Where the mechanics interesting and challenging?

Was it just the three pulls, or did it take more attempts that weren’t so close?

I have so many questions, but I’ll stop there :-P

People are going to say it’s undertune but to be honest, it’s exactly where it should be, it’s a first boss, we were all extremely well geared, we were extremely prepared and had great communication.

We had been preparing for this for the past months. Also have a group that play well together.

Took about 4-5 hours in total to get there (spread over the weekend, 1 hour today) The first is extremely fun, the mechanics are entertaining, the aggro system is very nice and easy to manipulate. The timer is on point, you need to keep extreme pressure on him (we had 5 Berserker 3 sinister and 1 tank 1 healer), there is lots of things going on and it’s important to have greeat communication, calling lightning, when someone get ported so someone else can get the lighting, calling burst, calling for res and also the small blue AoE which are hard to see.

I have been reading lots of comment about how easy, lazy, weak, or whatever the “bosses are” but these aren’t even bosses, they are literally just trash to help you with the REAL boss mechanic. And believe me when I say stacking tanky/healy gear won’t cut it for the real boss, you have 8 minutes to kill it and even with a 10 man berserker party the health was barely moving.

Also they all have actual mechanic to kill them, which is the difference between a 4 minutes kill or a 20 seconds kill.

Is there really no way around energy sigils?

Energy sigil is a good safety net, without it, if you get 3-4 auto attack in row, it usually mean you’re dead. I tried with shield yesterday for fun, its really good now for solo XD you lose the damagr buy aegis/prot and thr bubble are pretty sweet, you can probably get right of the energy sigil if you take shield.

Bursting is doable and the only way to do it now, unless you want to bug it (console breaks but you dont get teleported) with the specialization patch all you need is a near perfect rotation with full ascended, mortar kit helps but is not necessary to take some aggro. Ill post a video later

The method dadnir posted doesnt work anymore since the stability nerf.

Although it’s definitely not the only method, I’d still love to see a vid about the faster burst method, at best with the build included.

If you get her to 50% The mobs start to spawn so you could just kill the three waves of mobs before returning to bashing Brie, only 3 waves will spawn after 50%

With the stabilty nerf and perma daze from inquest this is not possible anymore, they strip your 5-8 stack of stability in 1 second. The only way to it now is killing before they break the console, ignore the wave and juat focus on the boss.

I did it last week? The inquest kept stunning grubs so I killed them first. Maybe I got lucky or something

That’s great, the last 5-6 time I tried, the inquest would just turn and start targeting me, but maybe I was being unlucky xD. I found it was much reliable for me to burst her down, with the nice solo dps increase we gained with spec patch, its pretty reliable.
