It’s funny that all the people asking for easy mode raid for the past year, are all here saying the fractal hard mode is too hard? Or all the people who were asking for 5 man raid because, what was hard was getting 10 people, not the raid itself?

Well here we are, with the same people saying the hard mode is too hard and that they don’t want fractals to be 5 man raids. If it’s too hard, do lower tiers, easy.

This is why I’m glad to see anet stick to their guns.

While I like giving access to rewards to the most dedicated players, 6k rank is way high, I thought 2k was a nice sweetspot. I know people who have over 5k hours of mostly WvW who haven’t passed the 5k mark. 6k might seem easy for someone on a winning server zerg stomping everything, but not every server win every blob fight or capture everything successfully.

Don’t forget we want new players to join the game mode, not set unrealistic goals that would discourage them.

I would prefer some level of clipping.

Some level of clipping would be much better, especially since the item might cover what is clipping in most cases, I would also take a look at the shield hovering over the arm on light armor, it’s extremely far from the character and could be moved closer.

There’s a large difference between what is unplayable and what is optimal. People keep confusing the two.

That’s why before the patch every class as playable. Now go and use your rev or necro and see how good they are, you can play them but your runs will not be that smoth anymore.

So when somehing goes wrong who you think they are going to blame? When dps is missing, who they will start to blame? What classes do you think pugs will start banning?

That’s the problems when you put a balance patch that puts classes on a very different power level

But they are not unplayable as you stated in your post. They’re just not optimal. That’s what I was saying in my post. With how quickly groups can clear raids, and how most groups wipe well before the enrage timer, the issue is rarely lack of DPS but rather lack of performing mechanics correctly and consistently.

I will give you a simple example, if you have a good dps you can do Abomination phase prety fast, so you deal less time with mechanics. Dps afects how much time you have to deal with mechanics, so unless you have a very good group you will have problems. I know groups that before the patch had dps problems on Xera for ex.

ps: i’m not speaking for me, it just bugs me that people that lose alot of time doing bosses because their members don’t play perfectly, don’t even come here complain about the unbalance…. are they waiting for any guild full of great players come here and say that for ex. Necro is trash and is rock on your shoe. You can use it, but the dificuty will increase and that’s not ok… that isn’t a balance. That is the definition of unbalance

But the core issue still comes down to performing the mechanics poorly. Also how much different DPS-wise is the build that someone is running compared to the meta? If they’re similar then the lower DPS is negligible. It’s only when the gap between the two builds become wide enough that you can say that the lack of DPS contributes to the performance of the team.

I stated contributes as mechanics still play a very important part. Unplayable would also mean that having the class results in a failure where the group consistently surpasses the boss’ enrage timer.

Elementalist do close 2 times more dps than a Necro and a Revenant… is that negligible?

Your last statement is extremely wrong, on a small target a revenant may replace one of the ele, for similar or better DPS in a mirror comp, that was from testing on the raid golem, which favor classes like ele. Go ahead, make a mirror comp squad, go in there and spawn a small golem, you’ll get same or better dps by having a rev in both team (chrono,ps warrior,druid,rev,ele) x 2

It’s like people forgot how the old meta worked and can’t adapt. You still need support, you need buffing (guardian, warrior, mesmer) and now you can bring healing to help with the extra damage. People go in with broken comp that bring very little support (2-3) necros, scatters around because they are trying to avoid damage.

i had my best fractals in a long time yesterday, with DH, chrono, ps berserker, tempest, druid, we had aegis, projectile defense, cleanses, heals, good burst damage (very underrated for trash) things were dying faster than ever, with us taking little to no damage.

I don’t really mind easy mode or story mode, heck they could give everyone legendary armor for free tomorrow and I wouldn’t mind (mine is done, I have everything ), but I believe most players struggle with finding 9 other people to raid with, and I’m not sure easy mode would make it happen.

Every time I see someone complaining about accessibility, they aren’t struggling with bosses or enrage timer or mechanics, but just finding a steady 10 man group.

There’s no way to fix this, people have expectation and will always do, no matter how easy something is :S

If you don’t have 25 mights, always use the strenght upkeep, eventually when everyone have 40-60 second of fury, you can stop using facet of darkness for a while.

But if your might isn’t capped, always use the facet of strenght

The boss is ok until level 60’s, as someone who did level 97 multiple times (even pre toughness nerf) the last 25% of the fight are just boring and annoying, he’s constantly spinning (reflecting range attack) while also destroying 60% of the platform.

Wow, those drop rate are pretty low :S no wonder I haven’t been getting ascended box. I don’t really mind as someone with tons of armor and weapon already, but 90% chance to get nothing is very high.

Definitely a very underestimated class, they also have crazy sustain allowing them to keep the DPS’ing when pressure is high, and the 50% boon duration doesn’t only benefit the chrono but also the warriors. It’s hard to maintain 25 might during matthias last phase, the revenant can help prolong the warrriors might as well as providing passive might.

And last but not least, while not necessary, quick access to passive protection can make a huge difference in fight like sabetha and matthias during their last phase, or even help the chrono tank during VG when for some reasons heal are healing everyone but the chrono.

I see a lot of people suggesting hammer DH for this, however in practice it’s very hard to maintain dps and protection on mai trin, her auto attack is too strong and she moves too much, better option for protection would be Herald.

So, if I get this right, this thread is about pugs blaming the raiding community after having bad pugs experience.

The community you guys are talking about is not the raiding community, it’s solo players with little patient trying to get into raids hoping it’ll be a cake walk.

Meantime, the raiding community is posting video guide, detailed build with in depth explanation, run countless of test to find a balance between optimal and safe comp. They even hold teaching runs. Of course not all of them, but as a whole, the community is very helpful if you search farther than the LFG raider wanabe.

This is why it’s upsetting when people bash the raiding community, because they are bashing the wrong person.

This isn’t a question for me, this is a question for anet. Do I know why 95% of the devs at anet seem incompetent? no. You and me both wish they would be putting other stuff out, but they just seem to not be for whatever reason.
Your anger is directed at raids but what I am saying is that you are pointing the blame at the wrong place. You should be pointing the blame at the 95% of devs that can’t seem to do anything for the last 6 months.

No, I blaming Anet for focusing on completely wrong direction while ignoring others, and I don’t trust “only 5 devs” at all. 5 devs pumping out full pve-sized map, with new encounters, mobs, SFX, etc.? No way.

Again you’re wrong, RisingDusk already confirmed that the only people helping are the sound team and lore team (both of which clearly would be working on other things as well). Everything else is done by the raid team themselves. My only explanation for this is that the 5 devs working on raids are either extremely competent or the rest of the devs aren’t. Or both.

Can confirm, animation guy and crystal reid are doing a very good job, and listening closely to players for insight and ideas.

I’m working a Legendary, and I need Manifestos of the Moletariate. I have not been a dungeon player, and have never been in Sorrow’s Embrace.

Is there any other way to obtain MoMs, or is the point of the Legendary to make me a dungeon player?

Just looking for some advice.

The only other way is the pvp reward track, however you only get 120 or 180 tokens out of the whole track so it’s pretty slow. SE path 1 and 3 are amongst the fastest path so it might be worth giving it a try.

This is fake, it was also stated during a guild chat that agony resistance was a mechanic unique to fractals and they had no intention to use it anywhere else, raid included.

Yeps, your comp definitely worked very well, while my team had good dps in the beginning, it dropped drasticaly during the last 20%, they took almost as long as the first 80% haha. You were able to keep good DPS
During the whole fight. Very nice kills by the way!

We can probably take off another minute at least with a couple of changes. It’ll be interesting to see how fast we can eventually down this boss.

Which comp were you running?

Oh god you don’t want to know, all I remember is the healer Rev and power scrapper, which weren’t actually that bad to be honest, I think we had around 1 min left.

The ventari rev was healing + blocking the vault like attack projectile, scrapper was reflecting with the bukwark toolbelt. Pretty far from optimal but it was pretty fun haha.

We had just too many melee power DPS, and since were still new to mechanic is was hard to sustain our DPS during last phase

  • Was it too easy? Too hard? Just right?

Timer and bosses attack were really forgiving, so even with the mechanicaly heavy fights (slothasor and matthias) they felt very easy, it wasn’t punishing enough

  • What did you think of the mechanics?

Very nice overall, except for the lack of dedicated aggro for matthias. I liked that for slothasor, clearing the poison too fast or even too slow would cause wipe, you had to find the right pace. Projectile management was well done and extremely fun to deal with. Switching aggro on sloth was amazing as well!

  • Did they add new boss fight mechanics compared to Wing 1 that pleased you? This might be things like mandating projectile management.

I like that when the person turn into grub to clear the poison he become hostile to everyone else, same goes for matthias where you have to cc the person getting sacrificed.

  • What things would you like to see mechanics-wise in Wing 3 now that you’ve seen the other 2?

Definitely projectile management but less “forcing” the group to spread around.

  • Which wing did you like more and why?

Boss wise, wing 1 but overall wing 2, the ambience and scenary as well as lore were much better.

I didn’t even realize the Bandit Trio was the second boss for the first few attempts. Thought it was a pre-event. The achievement for that boss seems like it will be a bit more difficult. It was a nice change of pace with something different than just going after the boss. It did seem a little out of place though.

We ran into an issue where the achievement was impossible under the current balance of the encounter, so we reduced the difficulty and balanced around that instead. I would definitely recommend giving that a go.

Glad to see you here! Congrats on the wing 2 release, its amazing!

I also very liked how the 3 bandits weakness were explained in the journal, one of our member who read them all made the fight very easy for us since after the 3rd try we had all the information we needed from going back and reading them again.

While it did feel a bit odd at first, it wss refreshing and a good break in between the 2 bosses which are very mechanicaly heavy.

Other guilds have posted their videos so updated first post with our’s.

Slothasar was a fun boss though easier than the wing bosses when first attempted. There’s a lot less mechanic wise going on.

I didn’t even realize the Bandit Trio was the second boss for the first few attempts. Thought it was a pre-event. The achievement for that boss seems like it will be a bit more difficult. Matthias was the hardest for us though for the first 3 hours, we didn’t realize we were basically fighting him with an Enrage that we were causing. Once we figured that out, it went a lot better. Still a lot of things going on good fight.

Matthias would be the perfect fight if it had an aggro mechanic :( it was kind of annoying having him move around everyone, mostly after the person who needs to cleanse corruptio or drop the fire AoE away from the zerg.

Also i’m curious, have you guy tried condi chrono? With people scattered most of the time, they don’t get much alacrity, which is the only benefit of the regular chrono build, torment, confusion would be good against him plus the 40-50 stacks of bleeding.

Overall the fights had more mechanics to them but were much more forgiving, and the timers were REALLY generous, specially on Matthias.

Killing slublings

Some of slublings attacks can’t be reflected.
What is the fastest and easiest way to kill them?

You can easily skip one of the mushroom by crossing through the middle ( the North east one I believe ) by doing so, you get rid of the accumulation of slubling, also having your mesmer/guardian pull them (be careful not to pull the transformed person)

Also if you have a staff ele, he can throw some AoE once in a while to help.

The real problem right now is, a lot of ruby players just aren’t suppose to be in ruby, they are just plain not good enough, they climbed to ruby because you can’t loose tier in emerald and sapphire, which lead to horrible team Mate or opponent. Just had a match where the players on the other team should have been amber or emerald max, literally 500 to 100 in a 4 vs 5

When I got fed up with hot meta events, I went and did 2 speed clear dungeon runs with friends. We were fast. And after each of those two runs, I salvaged everything, tallied up everything… and got to 1.2g per hour.

Now that doesnt sound too bad, and you can waste your time ingame even more than on dungeons. But… you can also spend your time at least 5 times more productive in this game.

Just doing centaur events in harathi / kessex / gendarran gives you more rewards.

Sorry mate, face it… dungeons are out, open world is the way to go atm.

Speed clear? 1.2g after selling everything? Even if you took 1 hour to do arah p2 (which take 10 minute with a group, not even trying too hard) you would have made a minimum of 2g (1.26 g pure and at leasy 0.74 fron salvaging drops)

Speed running dungeon is now even faster than before, and dungeon recipe are worth 2x more. Even without the recipe, you should be making around 7-8 gold and hour.

Every mats went up, meaning your green and blue trash aren’t trash anymore.

I have all the dungeon recipe, replicator included, full dungeon tour (around 2 hours) nets me around 40 gold (replicator excluded) which is more than I used to get.

While I agree that HP sponge aren’t harder or more fun by any mean, a boss need at least a good pool of HP for it’s mechanic to even matter.

Lots of the dungeon/Fractals bosses have mechanics to them which are ignored because of how fast they go down (not anymore with 80+ fotm)

Also, a boss that take 20 seconds is not punishing if you die, which if you wipe at 5 minutes into a fight, it sucks to redo. This is why wiping in dungeon never mattered, you can just rush straight back, and you barely lost a minute.

And the truth is, I have never seen a group fail any of the Raid bosses because of the bosses HP. They don’t have enough damage because they fail the mechanics or go down to avoidable damage.

Gorseval is a good example, people get the damage debuff, fail to kill the adds (gorseval gets damage boost) die to retal, get egg’ed or get smashed. In the end you’ll be lacking DPS, but it’s not because of the HP pool, but rather because people failed mechanics.

thats the reason, why u should ask boss/class specific questions.

for example: u found a rev, tell him he is in the chrono group and ask him what he has to do.

only cause someone has x- insights doesnt mean he is a good player (same to ap)

I run it weekly and I have no idea the answer to your question because my group doesn’t use a Revenant.
It’s hard to find a fair answer to this =/

If the revenant doesn’t know he should be keeping his facet of nature over anything else, he should not be playing revenant, it’s the equivalent of warrior bringing banners or druid bringing spotter.

As you said, you don’t play revenant, so I wouldn’t expect you to know, but the guy who mains revenant should.

basiclly you have more chance of getting a finished legendary weapon drop then this potion.

There is 0 chance of getting a legendary drop. There is a better chance of getting the potion, since some people get it.

If it had a higher drop rate, most of us wouldn’t care.

Untradable, daily gated reward with extremely minimal drop rate. As someone who done 90% of the fractal dailies possible and without a tonic, I’d gladly pay 100k relics for one.

The thing that suck is that some people could spend 100 years trying to get one and never do, while someone I know already got 3.

This item was suppose to be something prestigious for fractals enthousiast but is literally made fun of because of how ridiculous the acquisition is.

Thank you all for your replies. BTW, one more question: in what party compositions does PS warrior need to run runes of strength instead of scholar?
The thing is, I want to have one ascended berserker armor with scholar runes so I can use it in raid with all three heavy armor professions but I’m afraid I will have to have strength on warrior, thus 2 armor sets :/

Scholar is the prefered rune for warrior right now, if you have trouble keeping 25 might, you can use 20% boon duration food, but it really shouldn’t be a problem

I think a lot of people actually felt like you at first OP, but that’s why I like them so much. The more you play, the easier it is to travel, you learn shortcut, masteries that help getting around, you eventually get the feeling that you really mastered the jungle.

I know the jungle better than most of the core tyria maps, and I did map completion 13 times. Because in the jungle, knowing the map and shortcut is useful, unlike the core game, where you’re basicly moving from one point to another.

Raid-wise rev do not provide anything so useful that its lowish dps can be overlooked. Revs are out of the raid meta right now .

I disagree

Rev bring so much that they will stay in the raid meta for the same reason guardian was in the dungeon meta.

While their dps isnt top tier anymore, they bring

-amazing cc
-good ressing ability (you can res in vg lightning field, gorseval black goo, sabetha canon with the infusing light trait)
-high survability
-fury and 50% boon duration ( every video i see without a rev they barely have fury 75% of the time and quickness is just trash, while a rev can assure 100% on both )
-150 ferocity buff (4-5% damage boost to 4 other people)
-5-6 passive might to help warrior (warrior need to hit something to generate might so they have downtime, rev help with those downtime)

There’s probably more but 5k dps is not enough to make me replace rev.

Let me correct you on a few things

-amazing CC

In open world PVE settings maybe. For gorseval you use an engie. For Sab you use warrior headbutts and mesmer shield 5. If you are having a rev swap to staff you are losing 40-50% DPS. You only swap to rev as a last resort, and by then chances are you are going to wipe anyways because your engie kittened up
VG doesn’t matter because its VG, other classes can CC just as well on their MAIN WEAPON SET without losing DPS

Slick shoes on engie on Gorseval is a big DPS loss and you shouldn’t bring Engie if you’re going to min max anyway, Tempest are better. Rev Staff is also a very small DPS loss for rev, specially since the auto nerf, over the 9 seconds you are using staff, you’ll loose a total of 10-11k damage aka, 1 auto attack.

infused light trait lasts 1 second. it is quite weak. You will need to chain both your heal and the trait. It is decent but i cannot recall a single scenario where this helped us kill a boss.
Gorseval should not be an issue, else your engie needs to L2P. Sabetha should not be an issue either, your ranged guy needs to L2P.

Infused light is 2 seconds, perfect to get someone up, it doesn’t change the whole course of the fight but it helps when actually ressing. And no matter who you are, people down in raid, it’s not a L2P issue when people like Sesshi get downed by a cannon, kitten happen and will always happen/

Fury is the most common buff in the game. Every team is running 2 PS warriors anyways. a Mesmer with chrono runes, concentration sigil + hammer guard providing 5 seconds of quickness every 35 seconds (aclarity lowering FMW CD) will provide the same quickness uptime.
I cannot imagine 25 might stacks ever being a problem.

Most group I see on stream and in game when I play lack fury when they don’t have a Revenant, while it is common, most build don’t give access to it, unless you change a skill or want your Tempest to try blasting a fire field with the 20 Chronomancer wells on the ground. All these “chrono with concentration” claim work fine on paper and on a golem in pvp, but in the real world it’s not reliable.

I know this is a bit useless but there is downtime on warrior’s might generation, even for a couple seconds, it doesn’t really matter but it’s there.

this is probably your ONLY reason for ever CONSIDERING a rev right now. a hammer guard brings limited quickness which is BETTER than this buff. A thief will bring equal DPS because of higher personal numbers, same thing with ele.
Lets face it, there is little reason to being a herald in your raid group right now. a raid geared chrono can manage on quickness just fine and might stacks are never an issue.

I have done over a hundred full clear, with every kind of group comp, 5 man VGs, 6 man Sabetha, etc. And while in theory Rev could be replaced, it is a lot of work to get 1-2k overall DPS increase, in a best case scenario where no one kittens up.

Raid-wise rev do not provide anything so useful that its lowish dps can be overlooked. Revs are out of the raid meta right now .

I disagree

Rev bring so much that they will stay in the raid meta for the same reason guardian was in the dungeon meta.

While their dps isnt top tier anymore, they bring

-amazing cc
-good ressing ability (you can res in vg lightning field, gorseval black goo, sabetha canon with the infusing light trait)
-high survability
-fury and 50% boon duration ( every video i see without a rev they barely have fury 75% of the time and quickness is just trash, while a rev can assure 100% on both )
-150 ferocity buff (4-5% damage boost to 4 other people)
-5-6 passive might to help warrior (warrior need to hit something to generate might so they have downtime, rev help with those downtime)

There’s probably more but 5k dps is not enough to make me replace rev.

Sword DPS is about the same on a single target, our boon stacking has not change, neither did our CC. The only, only difference now, you’ll be using sword 2 off cooldown. I hate it as well, but people are still going to bring Heralds.

Tell me how well that works with your energy management when you are spamming sword 2 now.

No matter how you put it, it’s a damage nerf.

Spamming 2 off cooldown mean you loose 2 second off your jalis hammer or malyx elite, but gain much more damage from using it twice, and you now get more damage while in Glint. But most people are probably still just spamming auto attack like they were before the patch.

That is unless you actually have to use crowdcontrol or any type of weapon skills.

Also this is best case scenarios in which you have 0 lag at -5 degen or low lag at -4 degen or else your Facet of Nature will go on cd for 3 seconds (which is a raid dps loss).

Not accounting for the sword 2 skill bugging out or going for seekers at VG or adds at Gore/Sabatha.

Not sure I’m buying the feelgood charms.

All I can say for running a DPS meter for the past 2 months, my average DPS during raids did not change much, the difference is so small that it comes down to human error and party comp, it is no where near a 5-10% dps loss.

But again, I hate that our main damage skill on a melee weapon is a projectiles. I hated guardian sword because of that, I hated old revenant auto attack and I hate this skill 2. (However using it while out of melee range is nice I suppose)

I’m not trying to white knight, i dislike what they did a lot, but they didn’t kill the revenant, just made it a lot less fun to play.

This skill is a mess, they should just make it a single target attack. I’m also very upset about our main source of damage being projectiles. Even Anet know its a bad idea, remember sword second auto? They changed it because projectile on melee weapon feels clunky. I’m still going to play revenant, because it still has uses, but it’s not a fun class, auto is clunky, precision strike acts weird half the time and we don’t get much use out of utility skills.

Meanwhile they buff thief auto so much, that backstab, heartseeker and even the damage buff dodge are all dps loss and all you should do it autos.

P.s. my guardian GS does more damage, nerf incoming?

Gliding is really wonky on sabetha and I don’t know why. When being launched on the way over, do NOT open your glider or you will often get stunned in mid-air, and float slowly to your death. Well, at least the fix here is easy- don’t open it while being launched to the platform.

Unfortunately I run into different issues on the way back. Often I’ll press and hold glide and it just won’t open for a second, causing me to fall to my death. I’ve seen this in a few parts of the game and it’s unlikely my net as it’s usually around 100ms. Does anyone know what could be causing my glider to not open?

They just recently changed how Glider operate, you shouldn’t be having this problem any more, if you still do, it’s your keyboard spacebar that is acting wonky, because the glider is now client side and can not lag.

The mid air stun after being launched is on purpose, it’s to avoid possible glitch I believe.

I knocked off 2/17 elites and gave up.

This game doesn’t cater for casuals anymore. I don’t care for anything other than WvW and PvP either.

with masteries unlocked, it literally take me 45 minutes to get 25 hero points with a friend, with no waypoint, starting from silverwaste, 45 minutes.

That is the thing, isn’t people copy other people strats without trying something else.

I am trying to convince my guild to pull the Blue/Green/Red Guardians to middle so I can Epidemic them to reduce the kill time and also a 2nd necro copying all the condis back to Red, but I could not make them try once because it is not standard strat

The problem with pulling 3 together, the ambient damage goes up to 9-11k per second on everyone, which even the druid can’t manage. However depending on how fast this would be, it could be possible and fast.

I think the most popular are 56 or 67, my personal favorite is 67 but some group might find mossman harder so they do bloomhunger (56) instead

But one of the reason 40 is a more popular farm is because the chest is a boss chest, which have higher chance a core/exotic.

Swamp is always quick and easy so I guess I can understand that. Do people still farm any of the boss fractals in the harder range too, or does everyone just come down to 40 for that?

You only get 1? extra encryption from level 80 Molten duo, and the instability is much worse, with triple the HP, so people stilll farm 40.
