Healing background, Guardian for WvW?

in WvW

Posted by: Tuluum.9638

I run a support guardian and this is my impression.

Guardian’s about as good as it gets for boons, pretty good heals, and you can tank alright with fairly meh damage, with some CC. I think warrior is slightly better healing and more hit points (not sure how damage compares in a support build). Elementalist is better healing, great CC, but not a tank.

Dont forget that a guardian with staff/hammer can keep people in a choke point at an objective (like a single staircase) to keep all those enemies nice and huddled on the stairs.

Extremely, extremely effective tactic even with just one guardian and a couple ACs.

Which class is your main?

I have leveled several classes to 80 and the Ranger just “clicked” with me the most. Getting into the class was easy, but mastering it seems to be one of the most difficult in the game. Only one I would put above it is engi, and necro is in there somewhere too.

The shortbow on the Ranger is one of my favorite weapon designs in any game I have played, and the maul animation on an Asura is always “awwwwww!” then “ouch!”

eta: I almost exclusively play WvW.

I think that DH is just as familiar with fairweathers as most servers, if not more so. We have had a good stretch recently, but we have had some very, very rocky periods.

As for glassy builds, I actually run one myself. Its not full glass (2400 armor and 20k health), but I deal decent damage with my ranger (crit with SB is usually 1800 from flank, plus sigil of fire, and 85% crit rate with fury from red moa). The idea is to build with the idea of each one having a weakness that is made up in the builds of others. So, if I run with just one bunker guardian, its a deadly combination. I am difficult to pin down, but I cant be ignored either.

I think a lot of our guilds are starting to build with this philosophy in mind. We make up for each others individual weaknesses and end up with a stronger team overall.

Of course, that is not to say that many do not do their builds with this consideration, but it was definitely my reasoning in going a bit glassy. I find it extremely effective even if just running with one or two other people. It is also sturdy enough that I do a lot of solo roaming, but I do rely on taking down my opponent as quickly as possible since I dont have the sustain of a full bunker. Honestly, I find full or mostly full bunkers to be a bit boring.

Then again, I really, really dont care if I die, hahaha.

Asuras have advantages in PvP

in Asura

There are some additional minor points but i won’t list them since they aren’t as important as the ones above.

I am really curious as to what these additional minor points are. I find all of the points stated to be quite minor, to be blunt.

The only one I think is even remotely reasonable is point number 1. But, in a fight where you can see your enemy, you can still see the asura animations. In a fight where things are blurred by particle effects, it is very difficult to see any animations regardless of race. So, seems to be a bit of a moot point at best.

If we were talking about them having smaller hit boxes, or things like that, I would agree entirely. But subjective advantages needing dev attention? I have my doubts, and I mean no offense by that.

Ha not at all, just saying that in the past the misconception about SF (including my own misconception at one point), is/was that we were a WvW server. Not that we are not, cause we sure have some folks, just that we have more people in PVE.

I think that stands true for the majority of servers in the lower tiers.

I know that DH’s population is a majority PvE. Honestly, I dont think that in overall server population that the tiers are all that much different. Where the difference comes in is specifically WvW participation. Meaning, I think most servers have roughly the same population, but drastically different percentages take part in WvW.

Honestly, I was on the losing end in the last match up, and I doubt I ever claimed otherwise. Maybe you remember one of my first posts where I was talking about fun being primary and scoreboard secondary to me. Bad fights and getting constantly zerged, with signet warriors like hyjaxx to represent the small-man community of DH doesn’t exactly tickle me in all the right spots, and as such I was not having a lot of fun.

Well, I tried, but I guess when there isnt a spark, you cant force the fire to light, eh?

No, as I said I am happy I moved down, and besides, by the same metrics wouldn’t DH be rank 16? See, unlike most people from DH I realize this game is Coverage Wars, not Guild Wars (unfortunately).

Dunno, is DH rank 16? I dont follow these things.

I am also pretty sure the box I purchased says “Guild Wars 2.” I think this might be the source of some miscommunication. Did you happen to purchase your copy of the game from a guy on the subway that displayed games you can purchase lining the inside of his coat? I would steer clear of such retail outlets in the future. Did he also try to sell you “Call of Doody” or “Tattlefield?”

:)

I dunno, I think you are in denial about DH. You know you love us, why else would you be in our thread? :P

edit: And I dont know about anyone else, but DH would struggle in higher tiers. I think we are tier 5.5 at best. Though, SF and IoJ definitely seem to be doing better against us each week. Either way, I think DH is right where we need to be and I think the same stands true for DR.

Yeah, I agree. It is difficult to convince everyone that you are truly “winning” even though you are losing by every metric available. I think Charlie Sheen had something to say about this. edit: Here we go;

T7 definitely does have some good fighters.

I am just glad Im not there, Id never make the cut! I just want you to be happy, even if it means Im not in the picture.

I think when I last played I was going with a 2H sword/ 1h sword and focus with a 0/0/10/20/20 build well thats what I currently have set up at lvl 60 im guessing i was going for a frontline fighter, I’m thinking ill just remake him and start fresh my professions are sorta screwy and I hate what he looks like :P

Remember, you can re-trait at any point you want. Just go to your trainer and select the option to re-train your traits. You do not need to buy the manual to reset your traits (that can be very, very expensive!). You can also use a site like gw2buildcraft to theorycraft your different builds.

I think one of the most useful things to do is focus on gear with power, vitality, and toughness until you start to get things down a little more, then start adding damage as you get more comfortable. This applies to both gear and traits. So, at 80, you would look at X/X/30/30/X and put the other ten wherever you want. This gives you the most survivability so you can make mistakes and, ideally, not instantly die. It just gives more of a cushion as you learn.

I will say though, that learning your “purpose” on the battlefield will also apply to every profession you try out. So, everything you learn about combo fields, line of sight, positioning, siege placement, defense, etc will apply to any character you bring out onto the field.

If anything, I would suggest against deleting your character (if you were thinking about it). You have four other slots to use to play around with.

Sorry for inundating your post with replies, lol, but I thought of something else that tends to get overlooked by quite a few players (inexperienced or not) and that is combo fields.

As a guardian, you have a blast finisher on hammer 2. If you use this in a water field like healing spring (from a ranger) or healing rain (from an ele) it will do an area heal that also heals you.

Learn more about combos here

Utilizing them, regardless of class, makes a HUGE difference in a battle.

Try this thread out too. It covers a lot of info about the game mode.

Basically, your purpose will be the same on any class (capture objectives and defend the ones you have). “How” you go about that will not just depend on the specific class/profession, but also very, very strongly on what weapons you are using and the build. Your gear should complement all of this as well. Its quite a few different items to learn about, but once you get it, the theorycrafting is quite a lot of fun (if you are into that).

To start with, dont worry about upgrades on towers or anything like that. Youll get there eventually. Take note of where the more experienced players place siege like catapults and trebuchets, and then try them out for yourself. A good way to learn (and level) is to find that “blue dorito,” or commander icon, on the map and follow them. This will give you a good idea of what exactly goes on most of the time, like siege placement. Just remember, some commanders are better than others (thats putting it nicely, lol).

Well I never said I didn’t enjoy playing my Guardian but just when I did WvWvW I didn’t know what my purpose was. I actually really like him and that was the reason I got him to 60. The thing is when I got on him I feel very lost with what is going on in the game heh.

Well, if you like him, I really would suggest sticking with it! The guardian is an amazing class.

As for feeling lost in WvW.. I think that will happen regardless of what class you have going. When I started, it was downright intimidating!

With any class though, your “purpose” is going to depend on your build and what weapons you are using as well as the profession. The guardian is really quite versatile, but it takes the right build to get what you are looking for out of it.

If you have any questions about WvW, do feel free to ask them here! As for guardian specific info, I would suggest posting a thread in the guardian forums, though you are certainly free to ask some questions here as well. One of the most useful things a guardian can do is lay down projectile reflects at their front line. They can also use hammer 5 on top of an incoming portal bomb (this never, ever, ever, ever gets old, btw. try it out!). You can also lay down a Line of Warding (staff 5) right when a gate breaks on a tower to keep all those bad guys out, all while hitting them and doing damage.

What types of builds have you used?

When you go into battle, what are you looking to do? Meaning, do you want to be in the middle of the fray, mid range, etc.

Anything has it’s place in WvW, despite what people will say here imo. You can be a good player with anything.

Agreed completely. And heck, it may not even be what most consider an “effective” class like the engi or ranger.

To me personally it sounds like a dual dagger bunker ele will fit your playstyle the best.

Definitely a solid suggestion. Just so the OP is aware though, a d/d ele doesnt really start to flourish until later levels. They are good lower, but its not indicative of how strong they can really be with full trait points. Stands true across the board, but in my experience, applies to the ele more than any other profession.

If you go this route, I suggest getting used to attunement switching as soon as you can. For me, the best way to do this was to switch to an available attunement when 3+ skills of the current attunement are on cooldown. Gets you in the swing of things, basically.

Is there a 'cadence' to jumping into WvW?

Get in there and ask questions!

Some people will inevitably be annoyed at a “noob,” but that will stand true no matter what. Most will be appreciative you are actively trying to learn, and will help you out with (mostly) anything you need.

With your mesmer, practice portal kiting. You can move your group/zerg from one side of the field to another in a flash. Most frequently though, people only use it to portal bomb.

Just know that some people get pretty freaked out when they see a portal, since they expect an incoming bomb. Kind of funny in that regard.

I rarely see portal being used to its full capacity, or even close to it. Just be aware that it is a PvP environment, and that means tons of whining, blame games, etc. It also means some of the best and most dynamic gameplay you can get.

Just try out a few classes. You can even go to the Heart of the Mists to try them out with all skills unlocked, etc.

well I guess I should also mention I was looking to be more of damage dealer or maybe even tank, but as a Guardian I felt restricted to support and I felt extremely weak with the scepter and or staff.

Guardians make one of the best tanks in the game. I wont try to convince you, since you obviously dislike the class. Ill just point out that the shortcomings of the Guardian you experience may be due to you, and not the profession itself.

I would suggest trying out different classes to see which one clicks the best. If you are looking for a tank, the guardian is indeed what you are looking for. Maybe you arent entirely sure exactly what you are looking for? You may end up finding a class that fits your playstyle perfectly, but isnt exactly what you are looking for initially (my own experience with the ranger).

All of the classes can do great damage, most classes can tank, etc. Guardians are one of the few that can excel at both, but if you dont like it, there are others.

All classes can be damage dealers, but in different situations. A thief will do great damage, but generally only against a single target. Warrior will do great damage, and with something like the hammer, it will be 5-target AoE (as opposed to the 3 of a cleave). Eles provide good damage, along with some control and movement (depending on what weapons, of course).

The only one that I feel is a bit weak currently is the engi. But honestly, that might be the class the clicks with you the best, and may end up being what you, specifically, are most effective playing.

Basically, all of the classes do what you are looking for to varying degrees (but all capable). Its more of a question of “how” you want to do it that will determine the choice.

I’d prefer to not go back to the Guardian because I remember always feeling out of place in WvWvW

I am not sure how that came about. Used as support, the Guardian is a HUGE force multiplier in WvW. If I have just one guardian running with me, our capability increases five-fold.

Regardless, my suggestion is to try out the different classes. Obviously, you dont get the whole feel for a class until at least level 30, but you may be surprised at what you end up enjoying the most.

After leveling several classes to 80, what fit me best was the Ranger. Would not have seen that one coming had I not experienced for myself, lol.

Armor Value

I feel that ~2500 is the threshold I go for in balanced builds.

It gives enough survivability, but still allows for plenty of slots for other stats. If I was going entirely bunker, then the answer is “no amount is ever enough.” My glass cannon builds dont even know what this “armor” is, much less a good number.

Razer nostromo keybinds

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tuluum.9638

Tuluum.9638

I use to use a nostromo until I tried out the G13 from Logitech. I feel it is superior in every single way.

With that out of the way! I have to agree with others that suggest using the joystick for movement. At least on my G13 (cant remember for the nostromo), I have the typical move buttons mapped to the joystick itself. Really, really fantastic for my playstyle.

I have also found that I change the setup even just on different builds within the same class. I constantly mess with it until I find something that feels “natural.” For gamepads in general, I think this is a good way to approach it. The only thing that I dont change are movement input (joystick) and things like shortcuts to the map, character, inventory, etc.

I also use a g500, so that changes it a bit. But, it wouldnt be hard at all to just bind things to a gamepad instead.

The biggest drawback, imo, is that you have to take your hands off of it to type into chat. That pretty much means stop everything you are doing. For me at least, this generally leads to me being rather quiet in game. Not a big deal, but its there.

Is Thief The "Golden Child" Class?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tuluum.9638

Tuluum.9638

Would have to agree that warrior is the golden one.

I think it says something that thieves have been nerfed repeatedly and are still one of the most effective classes if used properly.

I think the initiative system is fine, even if it deviates from the standard set for every other class.

IMO, the issue is that stealth is a crutch. But, much like after you break your leg, it is entirely necessary in the current state for thief. I think the stealth mechanic itself should complement the profession, and not be the sole “go-to” for everything from offense to defense to griefing to ganking.

I personally think that the mechanic should not be invisible, but should greatly distort the image of the player character so it is next to impossible to see if hiding in the shadows, or in the brush, etc. Then all of a sudden, the most versatile ability in the game (stealth) would actually take skill to use (as it should be). This would need to be compensated in other areas though, and I think reverting back some previous nerfs would be acceptable at that point. I would even be ok with some buffs to damage, since it would take actual skill to set up the “thief combo” (queue CnD->Mug->BS->HS until dead).

edit: You wont hear me say they are OP as a profession, but the current implementation of stealth is definitely OP (imo, of course). Fighting a perma stealth thief, or really any thief, generally involves swiping at the air mindlessly and spamming AoE. It works, but I feel it greatly diminishes the enjoyment of engaging a thief. Generally speaking, even if I know I will win the fight, I avoid thieves at all costs. They are straight up annoying to fight, win or lose.

Posted by: Tuluum.9638

Tuluum.9638

What if the auto attack did everything it currently does, but you could dodge at any time and break out of the animation. Are you guys really saying you don’t want that capability?

I think it has a good chance of being quite overpowered. That said, it might not be. I actually think its a good compromise. It wouldnt really affect those who love it as is (as I do), and it would allow those who hate the rooting to use one of the best weapons in the game more effectively.

I am completely against changing the core mechanics of the weapon. But, I have to admit that since the buffs to greatsword, I havent been using 1h sword much. Adding the ability to evade may pull me back to it.

I can see it being very OP for those that can use it properly, but Im on the edge with it after some thought. I think the best thing to do is test it in a live environment.

On Kill Stacks

in Ranger

Posted by: Tuluum.9638

Tuluum.9638

Dont think theres some trick to it no. I never use them except of bunker builds for that very reason, but on a good bunker you should be able to get 15+ kills before you die unless you get unlucky.

You could always kill NPCs to get it back up, when I was trying my trapper ranger I would be find a pack of wolves and mass kill them. Can easily kill 10-20 in a minute or two if you have good AoE because each one summons a second one.

Thats pretty much how I get my stacks. While I am running to wherever I happen to be going, I just kill the mobs on the way. Once I have a full stack of whatever sigil it is I am running, I switch to my “combat” weapon. In this case, its a shortbow with a superior sigil of fire (love that combo!).

Using two weapons with the same sigil can increase the speed of the stacking, but at the expense of the utility of another sigil. The best “trick” I know is just swapping out the weapon with the stack sigil with the same weapon type that has your “combat” sigil.

Ironically, in bringing it up, I suspect that many more DH and IoJ will consider it just for entertainment purposes, if nothing else.

guys! We were getting along so well, lets not start bickering ..we will end up catching a serious case of “Devona-ism”

There is no more teaming up from Dh and IoJ then there is from SF and IoJ…it all depends on the situation and what the people think they have to gain from it at any particular point in time.

Right now with what we have going on with darkhaven right now in regards to reset is whats stopping us from really being a powerhouse. Once we get our Resets in order i feel that if all else stays the same we could duke it out with Ebay for top of t5.

But back to reality. Our super weak resets are what makes this match fun and exciting. It seems to be the same tune no matter which guilds do or do not participate in the weeks matching. We get trounced on reset due to no one coming on, then by monday we are able to make up the deficit and take the lead..regardless of the margin.

So for now, lets be thankful that our servers have the lil quirks they do and allow us to enjoy a close battle!

and oh yeah…i was sitting out on wvw for two days …..So everyone better watch out when i come back! /flying Burrito!

Jaxx

It is always 2v1 in WvW by both intent and design. This makes the “accusations” of such things even more humorous. Before anyone states the obvious, there are varying degrees of cooperation. But, its a core concept to the game itself.

I have been sitting out on GW2 recently too. D/l Neverwinter when I found out it was in open beta finally, and have been straight up impressed with the combat (though I have other issues with the game, of course).

The best way to house train a pet is to rub their nose in it when they “slip up”.

Its actually not the best way, quite far from it. I get the analogy otherwise, but this statement obviously comes from a lack of experience. Pretty off topic for a WvW thread though. fwiw, I was a professional dog trainer who specialized in Schutzhund, SAR, and fear aggression rehabilitation.

As for bringing reason and logic to my obviously tongue in cheek comment; get off the internet, yer kind has no place here! :P On a serious note, obviously coverage makes up a lot of the game. Using it as a blanket excuse, however, is the source of great entertainment for me personally. Since it is legitimate, in its way, you will see it constantly being used even when it has no application to the situation at hand.

Remember the standard formula folks;

When you win, it is because you vastly outplayed your opponent and have skills so hot they make the sun melt.

When you lose, it is because you were vastly outnumbered and/or the other teams cheated/exploited/etc.

Deviating from this formula or trying to find a middle ground is called being “reasonable,” and has no place whatsoever on the internet or video games.

Thank you for your time.

What's your GS/SB build?

Tuluum.9638

I use:

http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/ranger/?6.1|5.1g.h17|1.1g.h1|1c.7l.1g.7l.1c.7l.1g.7l.1c.7l.1g.7l|1p.67.1p.61.1p.61.1g.67.1g.67.1g.67|k18.k1a.u6ac.0.0|0.0|4j.51.4x.4p.54|e

It fits my playstyle pretty flawlessly, though I have no doubt there are things that could be improved and are not currently “optimal.”

I change utilities A LOT though, so take those with a grain of salt. I also like to use superior sigil of perception on my weapons until I have full stacks, then I switch to the weapons in the build link.

I think its going to be neat to see all the different ways people build off of GS/SB in this thread. Love it when others see something I dont, and I can learn from it.

GW2 is my current favorite MMO. It makes me feel like I did when I first started playing MMOs. Some of the systems put into place really make me excited for the future of MMOs in general. I have no doubt many of the systems used will be copied into other games.

I do think there are some major, major issues that need to be worked out. However, that has been the case for every single MMO that I have played at launch. Overall, its a job well done even if it means it wont be my favorite “forever.”

Hello,
several rude posts and accusations were removed from this thread. Please refrain from such behaviour in the future and be respectful to each other, otherwise the thread will be closed. Thank you for your understanding.

Next time, it would be much appreciated to just receive the PMs for such actions in one amalgamated post. Your time is my concern, as well as my own time. For expediency, please investigate the feasibility of implementing a single PM system for any infractions/deletions given within a certain time frame.

When I get so many, it makes me think I have friends. When I find out otherwise, it hurts my feelings.

I generally play during NA primetime so to me, SF is MORE than holding their own in this tier. Its a numbers game, and when both sides are evenly matched, its a “learn how to freaking defend our kitten, DH” game haha

Defense is for the weak. That should be obvious.

We will strike down our foes with an iron fist as our bare feet are devoured by piranha! Such is the way of the Darkhavian. Such is the way of the warrior. None shall defeat us, except for those who do.

@Sarlack;

I have found that most people dont know how to react to even a halfway capable ranger at all! lol

I think your use of the LB at short distance is counter-intuitive to the intent of the design, however, it negates many of the issues of the weapon. I guess I just dont see it as weak as some, but hey, I also think the ranger is in a pretty darn good spot balance-wise so I am in the minority on that one.

I do like your use of the LB though, I may try it out. Though, my lil asura doing the maul animation really tugs at my heartstrings.. its questionable whether or not I can give that up. :P

Enjoyable video

Just a tip, for those that didnt already know.. when the mesmer pops their downed ability that puts out a clone, it will always be the second one that comes up. Dont even bother with the first (pretty sure only one has the “skull” icon above them too, thats the real one).

But, I do have a question! When were bunker regen BM rangers considered kitten Am I missing something? I think you could poke people to death with your finger of doom with how much survivability you get from that. But, something may have changed that I am not aware of. I do know that signets received a massive buff, which should make your build (just looking at your utility skills) even tougher. Only weakness I see with it is the choice of two bows, but the build itself should more than makeup for it.

Then again, I am just going from the video and you didnt actually post the build, so I am just confuzzled. :P Xsorus probably used pain inverter on me. So, Ill blame him.

Water Fields Overpowered.

in WvW

Tuluum.9638

This thread has put me in a position where I agree with Gab. I no likey..

Look at what you made me do Ralathar! Look!

Water fields are fine. In fact, I think they should make the whole combo system significantly more in-depth and a much, much larger part of the gameplay. In conjunction with other changes I wish to see (which arent relevant to the thread, so Ill spare ya), I think this would lead to a game that is closer to what the playerbase is asking for.

Say I am fighting 1v5. Me on my ele, and the five.. well, they just have blast finishers and water fields to make it simple. One dragons tooth (yes, I run s/f on my ele and yes, it is considered blasphemous and yes, I have been called a noob many times) will come close to negating the blast finishers of several people. I consider that pretty balanced. It actually points to them not being powerful enough. However,
when taken into account the number of AoE heals beyond blast finishers, it seems really quite well balanced in a game where, imo, balance is one of the most serious issues.

I actually think the healing ability of an organized group is right about where it needs to be, when considering all tools at our disposal. Other areas in this game are where balance becomes a much more egregious issue. At least, I am glad to see them FINALLY start splitting up the different game modes in regards to class balances.

@Shademehr;

That is exactly what I think everyone in T6 will appreciate. As someone on DH, that is EXACTLY the type of foe I wish to face. They have certainly been reasonable and well measured even in response to trolls in this thread.

So, without further ado, I do believe IoJ is calling [KWBH]’s name. It kind of sounds like a moose mating call with a sneeze; “KWBH!!!”

Sword Issues: Movement is chaotic.

in Ranger

Posted by: Tuluum.9638

Tuluum.9638

If I turn off autoattack and autotargeting, I still end up jumping around all over for seemingly no reason. With auto-targeting off I should only attack who I have selected, but instead I lose control of my character.

Some people seem to do very well with sword, and I feel great for them. But there seems to be something I’m missing if I can’t stay on a slow moving target without pinballing around.

I suggest going into the heart of the mists, go to the area with the large bunch of golems (cant quite remember where this is exactly, but its somewhere :P ). In this area, you can practice how it works in a group fight as well as against the single golems standing around the same place (some move too).

The trick is in knowing when to have a target selected, and when to not have one selected. Learning that is pivotal, imo, to using the sword correctly. There is an option where you can make it so it only targets the person in the center of your screen for as long as you keep the button held down. “Autolock” or something like that. I found using this bound to an easy to reach key really helped in using the sword. This setup has has its own issues, but really, the targetting is this game can be difficult to deal with no matter the settings or weapon.

It is not an easy weapon to use effectively, and it does take practice, but once you get it down it is one of the most powerful weapons in the game because of the things that make initially learning it difficult.

I feel the same way. I think that resets, on the whole, are one of DHs weakest points. This last one was one of our worst starts in a while, but it seems like we have lost reset for at least the last few matches. I know we definitely “lost” the last reset with DR still in the tier.

Stealth and why it reduces depth and skill

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tuluum.9638

Tuluum.9638

Long, long post for the internets these days. I thought it was well written though, and brought up some things on why I deleted my level 80 thief in full exos. Others have brought up some excellent points as well.

I would love to see stealth be skill based, as in “stealth,” not “invisibility.” Having to stick to the shadows and pick and choose the best paths to stay invisible (instead of just having it handed to you) would make me reroll a thief instantly. Heck if that was implemented, I would even be ok with reverting some of the damage nerfs thieves have received since if they could skillfully perform it in the first place, it should be rewarded with massive damage.

As it stands, I still remain uncertain on how much damage thieves do. Yesterday (after mug nerf, mind you), on a character with 2600 armor I was hit with the “thief combo” (you know, queue CnD→Mug→Backstab→HS until dead, sometimes with some venom, etc) for more than my total life (20k). Obviously, it was a glass cannon thief, but CnD did 5k, Mug did 2k, Backstab did 9k, and HS did 5k. I would be ok with these numbers, or even higher, if it took actual skill to set up and pull off. Like I said, I would even roll a thief again! I just didnt enjoy how faceroll the class is. Generally speaking, I wont even fight a thief regardless of how successful I might be in the engagement. Fighting them just isnt fun, whereas I enjoy the fights against every other class. Keep in mind, I do not claim to be some elite player or anything. I just do my best, and am constantly “l2p” as I feel the concept applies universally beyond just a video game. There is always more to learn.

The reality is though, many enjoy this type of domination. And I do think Anet wants the thief to be where it is at. So, I have sincere doubts anything will change soon.

Great posts either way, by several people.

Go IoJ. I want them to be better in T6 and they need a guild like yours to do so. Even out-manned alot they have been 1 of my Favorite servers to fight against.

Stay away from T7 as they are all happy with their match up.

Darkhaven is always an option but theres Que times durning prime time NA.

But overall IoJ can get on par with SF/DH with your help.

Thats exactly what I was thinking too. At least from our match thread, some of the big guilds on SF are taking a break, so they may actually be able to beat DH when fielding their full force.

IoJ, on the other hand, is definitely fielding their full force and adapting incredibly fast.

SF doesnt really need any help, unless they want to move up a tier. Tier 7 is as close of a match as I have ever seen, so even a transfer of a 50 player guild would probably mess up the balance. Tier 8 is kind of its own thing.

So, coming from someone on DH, my vote is for IoJ as well!

Anyone with even the most remedial analytical aptitude can see that we are right where we need to be.

Indubitably. Second place looks good on ya! :P

As a server though, you really have to think hard if you want to move up in tiers. The next tier up really IS a different ballgame. I think all of the “lower” tiers (i.e. tier 6, 7, are relatively closely matched. There are distinct differences, and a reason why a server like DH is in 6 while others arent, but its not a huge disparity. Just like quarter mile times, tier five is like being able to run it in under ten seconds. Each step takes that much more power, and that much more queues (shudder).

I feel the same as Cyran!

It is really great that we are finally facing an opponent that forces us to re-evaluate our play without facerolling us in every encounter. I have no doubt all servers in this tier will be learning a lot. I mean.. look at IoJ! They have turned into a real force to be reckoned with, with less numbers than either SF or DH (though, its not like they only have 5 people on, lol).

On another note, what the heck happened to warriors? They, along with ACs, just seem to melt faces now. Maybe its time to finally level the hammer warrior I enjoy so much. It would be my seventh 80 though :\ The prospect isnt too appealing at this point.

Sorrow’s Furnace will just keep doing its thing like it always has.

Pushing 1 and exclaiming their success is because of superior skills instead of overwhelming numbers.

Sorry mate, but SF’s zerg is good. Yes, they obviously have pretty overwhelming numbers for these tiers as well, but they have seemingly managed to get like 99% of people on the map in a single moving blob. My only issues are that I dont particularly enjoy the play, and I cant really even see individual guild names or tags unless I select one person. Just a big red blotch covering most of my screen, lol.

But, they obviously have skill and excellent response time. The tactic wouldnt be successful otherwise.

I am most interested to see how many DHers are fairweather and which ones arent to get a true feel of our servers capability.
