NEVER FORGET
@Lord Rager;
I actually like it when opposing forces throw a piece of siege on me. Means I made some sort of impact, even if its just that annoying red name that wont go away.
It also implies a cost to their team similar to if I single-handedly beat 5 of them (repair costs, not sure what one death costs one character), and I like that very much! Usually its a ram, but with a cata, just be happy you cost someone 12s, 1 laurel, or 12 badges (?) with no benefit on their part (its not like the siege blocks the view or anything). Of course, there is also the good chance they got it from a chest, but Id say obtaining it with time and effort is worth about the same.
My guess is, with a commander icon, you are much more likely to have it happen. Use it to your advantage! :P Just stick around a bit to try to bait others into wasting a siege BP.
Hey Tuluum,
Not sure what you can really do without a commanders tag and TS/Ventrilo. Your playerbase has to seriously want something more to improve.
Well, my entire goal for a while now is to be able to shape that zerg with as little communication as possible. There is a lot to learn there.
The answer to your problem is probably something you wont like. You guys need to go up a tier and get the snot beaten out of you by better organized, equal sized servers.
On the surface, this may seem like a solution. But, given that this has happened to DH more times than I can count at this point (at least relatively close numbers), I am not so sure a real solution is of any relation to the specific strength of the server faced.
@Partunu;
It seems that select groups from DH are either REALLY rooting for IoJ or DR. You will see this reflected in their actions on the field.
I would say that the larger percentage are those rooting for IoJ. That said, on one of the reset nights (before the reset), there was even a commander going around breaking down IoJ keep doors in their BL and then actually leaving it expecting the DR forces to come in and take it. So, it goes both ways.
I would be surprised if the same wasnt present on pretty much any server.
Formatting got all messed up, but I know better than to try to fix it on these forums, lol.
-Try to keep a large group split into two units; the front line and the back line.
-Can be shaped with swiftness
-The more diverse the class makeup, the better
-The attached picture should be the basic template for most engagements. It can get as complicated as wanted, but should be based in this concept.
-The frontline controls the movement of the fight on the field
-The back line lays down range fire, combo fields, and watch for/prevent flanks
-The back line can also serve as scouts
-Control areas (CC zone) are done to funnel enemy forces into the kill zone. Basically, it is the creation of an artificial choke point. The unorganized part of the zerg itself will likely take care of the control in the kill zone itself.
-The kill zone that is the area of focused fire of the majority of the zerg
-The zerg naturally shapes itself in this way. We just try give it defined the edges with an organized few.
-Ideally the combo field line is the same kind at once, i.e.;
-“Lay down poison”
-“Lay down the ethereal”
-“Lay down smoke”
-Use the mesmer skill portal to quickly move each unit around
-Can be used to do anything from laterally kite enemy fire to instantly gain an elevation advantage
-With multiple mesmers, 50-90% of the units movement can be done with this skill
-Can be used to switch the units position
-The back line has one of their mesmers drop a portal then run to the front line and drop the other side of the portal. This allows the two lines to shift places quickly.
-Each unit should have several people capable of doing blast finishers and water fields for on demand area healing
-Commanders: when leading a large zerg of mainly new players and are not running into any resistance (i.e. PvDoor), try laying down one ram, one arrow cart, one balista, and one catapult in some of the best spots for each (there are always quite a few) so players are always learning where to look for these things
-people can also learn different placements that they may not have been aware of for when there arent any commanders on the field
Like I said, this isnt to come up with some super advanced “I win” button. The two main goals are to come up with some sort of semi-cohesive playbook and raise the base level of knowledge of the entire server.
So, to those who are new and just starting to read the forums as well, I hope you found some value in this. Hopefully, in time, we can start to work as a more cohesive unit and actually use the “red zoned” zergs to our advantage. And if another server picks it up and runs with it, well then DH, we will have to step our game up anyway.

So, I have been trying to implement some of these ideas into Darkhaven’s play without much success. Even with things like placing extra siege to educate on unresisted objectives are still called a “waste of supply.” To the short term, it may have validity, but when considering the long term strength of a server and its experience and education, it is a valuable concept.
I have been trying to do this from my first day on DH, to little avail. Doesnt mean I will stop trying, and it may be time, yet again, to throw some ideas out there. It isnt meant to be some ultra advanced tactics, or anything like that. The goal is to hopefully get everyone on the server to a basic understanding of WvW, and also importantly, be on roughly the same page and going from the same playbook.
I am aware most will not find this valuable, nor will they try out anything presented. Which is why I am posting it in this thread, because I want to see some of these things on the battlefield so we can truly start having some epic battles. The only way I believe that will happen is if we just start seeing its efficacy in short term battles, as well as long term success of the server. In the end, if there is just one thing of value to one person, then I will consider it a success on my part.
I do not have a commander title, nor do I have many that even know my name on the server. Even if I did though, to be the most successful, it will need as many people as possible to work as a team (which is a good thing in and of itself).
-The idea is NOT to get every single person in the zerg in communication and organized because that is a completely unfeasible goal even within a guild group, much less people from all over the world with different incentives. What should be attempted is to have enough people who are organized, and a zerg that will focus movement on a commander tag (which is natural behavior). Working this to our advantage can reap massive benefits. It hinders our success to solely focus on one type of play (organized group on voice comms). Taking into consideration the movement of a zerg is imperative for leading a large group of people. My ideas are to use an unorganized zerg in the most efficient way possible.
-Much like with the little tips that are put into loading screens on so many games, we can help educate our general populace by randomly giving out tidbits of information. The idea is to raise the base level of awareness and experience throughout the ENTIRE server. Tips like;
-Eles can lay down water fields like healing rain at the enemies front line to help heal their teams melee fighters.
-Engineers can provide good control and healing with their bomb kit and the proper traits
-Guardians can protect their team with shields, aegis, and even constant boons
-Warriors can provide excellent control with the leg specialist trait on an Arrow Cart
-Thiefs can help the fight quickly tip to your teams favor by picking off people who retreat to the back line of their forces to heal
-Mesmers can control an entire enemy zerg with one well placed Feedback Bubble, and can massively help their own team by one more skill; Null Field.
-Necromancers can take advantage of conditions and boons. Using something like “Corrupt Boon” on a guardian who just used “Save Yourselves,” then using epidemic can be devastating to an enemies front line. Same goes for finding a boon stacking ele. Anything with a lot of boons will work, in fact!
-Rangers can coordinate attacks with other rangers to have their pets focus down people on the back line or attempting to retreat
While I have no issue with the SAB, I would be lying if I didnt say I would rather the resources and time go into other things (specifically game fixes). Even if it isnt much, Id still rather it go into making the core game more strong. Then again, it seems many are enamoured with the SAB, and I think making so many happy with their game is a good thing in many ways. So, I am a little torn on it (at least without hard numbers to show the true success of the SAB).
I think the weapon skins are nice looking, the backpacks look fine on an asura (the ones I have seen). The pets I dont give much notice to, so cant particularly comment.
The SAB itself, I found to be pretty boring. If nothing else, it reminded me why I am playing Guild Wars 2 and not spending my gaming time on an emulator. So, there is something to be said for that. Conversely, it destroyed my pristine rose-tinted glasses I was using to look at some of the old classics I used to play, lol.
@Dynnen;
Did you guys get a bunch of transfers? I am seeing quite a few guilds I have never seen before from DR. And the zergs fielded have been more massive than anything I have seen in a long time (if ever) in these tiers.
As a note, please keep flanking until DH starts to realize that it happens. I dont even call out “flank” anymore because.. well.. no one seems to think it matters, lol. Those that do have already reacted before its put into chat anyway.
When roaming, I absolutely love the encounters you can have with people. Like I heard mentioned by someone in another thread, its like communicating with beings from another dimension that only understand basic movements like waving your hand and bowing. It will mean something different to everyone.
That said, I greatly enjoy “picnics.” Especially having them as close to a large battle as possible. Dont know why I enjoy this so greatly, but I do. For the most part, I dont hesitate to hunt down every single person I see in an engagement (or die trying :P ). But, the having an exception to this rule has led to some really, really memorable moments.
Also, if I clearly am going to win a small scale engagement (as in, I still have full health, have only used auto attacks and evades, and have everything off CD while they are about to get downed), I will usually just let them go. Im not playing the game to make others feel bad. The more the merrier, and there is no question who would have won so I am ok with leaving it sorta “unfinished.” My hope is that this will slowly create rivalries, but well see on that part!
If you’re talking about me i’m not whining merely stating facts like we’re losing badly compared to last week.
No, people just start going at each other when the “pace” changes.
@Pixie;
I hope it keeps up, its been quite a bit of fun!
Those are called fairweathers, every server has them
Once you win a matchup, all of a sudden, the WvW population “magically” goes up.
Ehh, it may be semantics, but I would consider the “fairweathers” to be those that actually stop playing when the going gets rough. Maybe with a few complaints thrown in. I consider it slightly different, but got the answer I was expecting. Its more like “sore losers,” as they may very well continue playing and will definitely make their presence known, lol.
I just asked to confirm an assumption I had. Specifically, that there is an increase in the amount of the “blame game” after facing some adversity in a winning streak.
(edited by Tuluum.9638)
Apparently I’m Gabe from DR HAI GUYS
You arent sure?
I believe in you Gabe!!
On a different note, do the people on DR and IoJ immediately start tearing each other apart the moment they start facing adversity?
All servers have those types of people, but DR lost most of that type months ago when they mass transferred off the server.
Thats what I was wondering about. It seemed to subside when DH was having a “rough” time as I assumed many transferred, but now that we have had a winning streak, we seem to have many more that do this. Seems many are very used to winning without facing any sort of resistance.
Keep it up DR and IoJ. Trial by fire baby!
I find it quite interesting, actually
Apparently I’m Gabe from DR HAI GUYS
You arent sure?
I believe in you Gabe!!
On a different note, do the people on DR and IoJ immediately start tearing each other apart the moment they start facing adversity?
Well done DR and IoJ, in all honesty it looks like DH had no strategy for this reset (besides the “everyone runs to SM”) and we had to learn the hard way like last week.
The lack of coordination on our server tonight is impressive.
But we will get back on top eventually…If we played like tonight on a higher tier we would never be able to recover from it.
Example convo from tonight:
“Seng, get off the cata”
me: “Why?”
“You are kittening it up blah blah blah”
me: It wont reach the far right wall on garri, it was badly placed. It is currently hitting one wall though and Im making the best use of it possible. Might as well since its here.
“You need to aim just a bit to the right”
“Its already hitting that wall, along with all those red names you see. You dont need to directly hit the wall to damage hit”
“Just aim to the right”
me: rolls eyes and stops firing above portal (:D)
-IoJ floods out en masse engulfing those who would dare question me-
me: lol
Good times, hahahaha. Really, really awful play. People giving advice like they are experienced leads to very, very bad engagements. Ill bet you guys on DR and IoJ noticed some very.. interesting choices for siege placement!
edit: You win this time DR and IoJ shakes fist
(edited by Tuluum.9638)
I think its understandable in some circumstances, especially with roamers that arent going after objectives.
That said.. one time I decided to take a short break to eat right outside of our border WP (in enemy BL) before getting back out in the field. The people there started to say things like “dont follow us,” “dont stand around here,” etc. I still find it rather strange. I laughed (in real life), continued eating, then left when I felt like it.
On another note, I tried manning an arrow cart from a 50 inch screen, still cannon see over the wall, tried setting up my eyefinity 3-screen setup, still cannot aim an arrow cart over the wall. Yes there’s more to see on a big screen but in turn everything else is bigger as well.
Would you mind taking screen shots of how it looks? I think having direct evidence is excellent in these situations. If you dont know how, press print screen, then open something like Paint and paste (ctrl+v or through the drop down menus).
I am most curious about the multi-monitor setup. The view that I think might be most likely to allow this would be looking directly down on your character. Print screen should show the image across all of the monitors in a single image.
As for fight night, I had a good amount of fun too. I was traited with things like piercing arrows and didnt really think about changing these. I ended up losing every fight, hahaha. When I re-traited and came back, I won the first fight and ended up staking the guy out of habit. Couldnt cancel it (kind of like how youll get stuck building siege, etc) and still feel pretty bad about it. Then very few would fight me.. oh well!
Is there some unspoken thing that no one will fight each other more than once? I was really looking forward to fighting specific classes and trying out a bunch of different things, but once someone fought me, they just werent willing to do so again. Some were very close, and I really wanted to see what works better.
(edited by Tuluum.9638)
Im logging in now. See you in fight club
Its down for a new build right now :\
Its kind of neat actually, I havent felt like this since the first time I did PvP in Ultima. All butterflies and that nonsense.
Totally awesome timing for a new build. For realsy!
First fight club, lol. Im all nervous. I feel like a teen on prom night.
For the record, I personally have a lot of respect for [abys] and run with them frequently. Though, I am not a part of the guild, so cant speak on behalf of them.

Just to get some of it out of this thread, please use that link to discuss the AC trick
Good call.
I can’t answer that. I use a single 36 inch so I can’t test it to prove it one way or the other. Standing where the arrow cart is placed my POV is always hung up on the underside of the lip on top of the wall or from behind my toon and against the wall.
Fair enough. I originally had the game running through my “theater” at release, but have since moved and have not hooked it up again yet. So, I am not able to test it either.
I just have my doubts as to that specific explanation. It doesnt really change our points though; that through hardware, the exact same thing can be accomplished as the third party software, and is therefore coded into the game as a feature.
To be honest, it sounds like a real tough issue for Anet to tackle. I would still appreciate clarification though.
FOV is not visual though. By visual I mean textures. It doesn’t increase arrow cart functionality range, but it does increase the range of where you can see. Thus allowing you to place the aoe over walls like shown in those screenshots. The rules may not be specific to illegal game actions such as speed hacks, or flying. However it does specifically say right there, CHANGE or MODIFY OPERATION of the game. Changing fov, speed, etc falls under that. So it will get you banned if caught.
Its still ambiguous since the exact same thing can be achieved through hardware and no third party software whatsoever.
So, it could be argued there is technically no change to the operation of the game itself as the game is coded to allow for multi-monitor setups like eyefinity.
I’m not condoning hacks of any kind but there’s a catch to the zoom hack accusation and I’m not sure how Anet, or others, are going to be able to decipher true hackers from non-hackers.
If you play GW2 on a large screen (and I’m talking like a 60 inch screen), and set it to the highest screen size settings, you can see and target over the wall without using a hack.Anet has always condemned the use of 3rd party apps as a violation of ToS. That’s a given. Unless they address this in some way I don’t know how to tell those who are hacking from those with big kitten monitors.
I am a tech guy, and I question this explanation.
While I concede that with multiple monitors, you are able to render more viewable data on screen.. a 120" screen at 1080 (what I am able to run, btw) is still displaying exactly the same information as a 15" screen. There are still 1920×1080 lines of information. On a multi-monitor setup, this changes to say 5760×1080 (three screens running at 1080p), and therefore, is able to render more viewable information for the user.
There may be something in the software side of things I am missing, so please clarify if that is the case.
Either way, you are entirely correct that this is where the ambiguity comes in. Its not clear at all.
(edited by Tuluum.9638)
It’s still a little vague enough that the exploiter supporters can say it doesn’t apply to them though. :/
Really, what would help Tuluum is if Devon outright says that it’s against the rules, and that there’ll be patches down the road to solve it, but…
Exactly right Pixie (as per usual :P).
I would really appreciate this specific issue being addressed. As it stands, there are some who are interpreting it to give them the same experience as someone who has several monitors, which is not against the T&C. While I am morally against it, I cant actually say it is specifically against the T&C since it can be accomplished without any third party software.
Patching this, or at least clarifying the issue, would be very much appreciated.
“Use, or provide others with, any software related to the Game, including any automation software (a.k.a. “bot”) or software designed to change or modify operation of the Game;”
gzoom is software that modifies/changes operation of game. If it was something that changed VISUAL things client side, like texmod did with GW1, I don’t think that would be in violation.
Thats where interpretation comes in though… I think it should be obvious that some of the things, like flying (I mean, come on..) are not able to be done by any other means.
However, the zoom one, very specifically, is only changing the visual side of things. It doesnt increase AC range, or anything like that. It just allows for a larger FOV. Even without a third party program, this can be done with a multi-monitor setup with exactly the same results and those are not against the T&C.
Its the ambiguity in this specific case that seems to be the issue.
So I looked up this gzoom…of course that is against the ToS. These things aren’t built into the game, thus they will get you banned.
Do you have a link to where it says that?
It should be obvious that I agree, but I cant actually provide evidence that it is bannable. :\ The terms and conditions are far too open to interpretation. The comments on one of the videos even says “people should be banned for using it” not that they actually are. I am hoping for something like “using third party programs such as gZoom is against the terms and conditions and will result in an account ban.” I am hoping to specifically find them saying that using the zoom hack is bannable. Honestly, some of the stuff is pretty benign (like first person view).
edit: The fact any of this is even possible in a modern MMO is pretty shocking to me.
@Crucify;
Just to clarify, this is happening in the southern most supply camp, correct?
(edited by Tuluum.9638)
On a related note, this makes me not really want to play WvW on Darkhaven at all… and since I dont have the gold to transfer, I think I will be taking a break.
Ill try to join in the fight club though.
I just wanted to say that after some.. confrontations about bringing this to my servers attention.. that not everyone thinks it is much of an issue. The commanders I talked to seemed reasonable though, so we will see as far as that goes.
The issue is that Anet has not come right out and said using things like gZoom (look it up on youtube, thats how I found out about it) are against the ToS (at least to my, and others, knowledge).
If someone has access to where they say this is a bannable offense, it would really help my case on this.
It seems to be more of an issue of morals than strict “cheating.” That said, Anet should really consider making it clear whether or not this is accepted. I cant imagine they see it as intended, given what I have just seen on youtube. I dont want to post the link for fear of this post getting deleted, and I want this to be looked into.
Again, if you have a link to where Anet says this is against the T&C’s, I would really appreciate it.
(edited by Tuluum.9638)
But what other intent could there be? If you want to laugh with your friends / teammates you’d type in party chat or open up your mic. An emote that is visible to enemies means you want them to see you laughing. To me, that says a lot about intent.
Is there any good reason to allow enemies to see your emotes? I honestly can’t think of one.
Yes! To communicate with others. I am not playing just to talk with my friends. I enjoy interacting with the people I compete with. S/TPvP allows this, but I am tired of node cap games.
You are assuming an enormous amount about intent. The only thing that you can pretty safely know is that they do want you to see it, but not the “why” behind it. That is where the assumption comes in, and we simply dont have the foundation to base an accurate assumption on beyond our own perspective.
Its getting quite off topic though. Not everyone is out to get ya, or insult ya. Sometimes the things that happen in WvW are really quite funny and extraordinarily entertaining, and it is enjoyable to some of us to be able to laugh together. Its not always an attack, is what I am saying. It seems you disagree with that, so its probably best to just agree to disagree.
edit: Actually, I will add a story that happened a couple of days ago. I enjoy having “picnics” with the enemy in the midst of battles. Where we will sit together and emote. We were doing this, and a group of their server team mates came by and STEAMROLLED me. The people whom I was “picnicing” (real word?) with did a /laugh emote because, well, it was funny as all get out. They also did /cry, etc. When we got back together again, the same thing happened but in the opposite direction (my team mates steamrolled them) and I did the same thing. We all knew there was no malicious intent involved, just some people from different servers having a momentary glimpse of peace in the milieu. It is one of my favorite gaming memories I have ever had.
All the best to you. Pic:
(edited by Tuluum.9638)
I always felt that laughing at someone after you kill them is malicious and unnecessary. If custom emotes were visible to the enemy there’s no telling what some jerks would write in there to annoy their opponents.
Call me sensitive but in an mmo that prides itself on taking the most anti-grieifing measures possible, it sort of fits.
That is entirely my point though, is that its an assumption as to the intent behind the action. But, its so incredibly vague that an assumption cant really be made accurately. If someone thinks that everyone is out to get them, then they will read every action taken within that context (not saying this is what you do, its just an extreme example).
There are plenty of “jerks” that do all of this without any sort of limitations that are on my own server. Much less assumptions are made in this regard, as they are quite vocal and clear about their malicious intent. I have never felt that censorship truly protects anyone. The best course of action isnt to stifle everyone for the benefit of the few, but to stick together as a team, wherein we derive our strength and perseverance.
You are, of course, free to disagree. We are both just voicing our opinion on the topic.
Either way, I am curious about the OP as well. I think it just comes up as “(server)(wvw rank) gestures” though.
(edited by Tuluum.9638)
I hope not.
I actually feel like emotes should be disabled in wvw because 9 times out of 10 it’s used for griefing. Like when some guy and 5 of his buddies laugh after they kill me.
I think disabling emotes would make for a cleaner, more honorable fight. Ridiculing your opponent after you bested them is just childish and I think it goes against ANets whole mmo philosophy.
That really assumes a strong “victim mentality,” imo.
I have seen /laugh after getting absolutely slaughtered by a group of 20, and I have no doubt it is frequently because it is funny. I mean, the fight is so lopsided its absolutely ridiculous. Its not like it was going to go another way.
I have seen /laugh used when I jump/dodge over a ledge to my demise. I only wish I could /laugh back because it is downright hilarious!
I dunno, I think emotes are so vague that we supplant our own perspective as to why they are being used, when that is simply not always accurate. I actually enjoy it when after a good fight, my opponents start dancing, or cheering, etc.
I would hate for them to be removed just to protect someones feelings in a game where dying in horrible and lopsided ways is just par for the course.
There are a few viable options, really. It all comes down to your build and playstyle.
Personally, I love shortbow. I mean, obsessively adore it. So, that is what I use.
The thing about ranger weapons, imo, is that they are really quite varied in how they play. Things like the axe just dont jive with me, for whatever reason, and I really struggle to use them effectively even after dozens of hours of practice.
I would suggest trying out a few different weapons for enough time to really get the feel of them, and go from there.
I know for me, it has taken me quite a bit of time to finally whittle down to exactly what build and weapons I will use on a consistent basis.
My build focuses on some survivability, with crit damage and shortbow works into accomplishing that along with GS.
The only one I dont like, personally, is axe offhand. It may just be me, but I feel like I get a lot more from other weapons in that slot. Though, path of scars can be decent especially with the increased range/decreased CD trait.
Xsorus has a good point about warhorn, I just want to add that if you use “the birds” attack, it can make it a bit easier to follow a stealthed thief.
I dunno Pixie.. I was the one that took that pic of that manatee.. and I can tell you he was eating badges prior to the, uh.. “explosion” you see captured in the pic. “Oh, the huge manatee” indeed…
You are correct in that they are made of aluminum and chocolate. But, its aluminum and chocolate OF SMELLY DOOM.
I know, I know, this is really hard to accept. I just care about your health. One of the main attributes of addiction is denial. The stuff really isnt good for you. Just like a drunk person thinks he can take on the world, its much the same with badges.
This is a very serious issue, and I expect Anet to put out a PSA soon. I will help you through this Pixie. I am here for you forever.
Lightning flash can be used for movement during any channeled skill, including FGS3, churning earth, and meteor shower. This is where I personally find it is most useful.
If traited for it, it is also a cantrip which can have quite a few different benefits.
Used as an escape tool, it is very handy. In the same way, it can essentially be used as a “dodge” as well as to introduce confusion in a fight by changing where you are on the field in a “flash” (hehe).
Im starting to smell a lot of bacon…
mmmm, bacon……
@Pixie (Im callin ya that whether ya like it or not!);
Thank you, I do not do these things to earn respect, but give it. That said, it is an honor to earn someone elses respect and I appreciate it deeply regardless of venue or circumstance.
Just a tip though, you dont eat the badges. Thats gotta hurt coming out the other end… I have no doubt this has been the source of massive amounts of suffering on your part, so you are very welcome in advance.
I would feel dishonored if you took it easy on me. How else will I grow and become better?
@Divrocks;
Thank you very much Div. I apologize for the actions of some of those on my server. I have been made aware now that I am not alone in my feelings on this matter. Its like a friendly sports game, where someone else comes in and ruins it with cheap shots. They are not welcome unless they can play along respectfully.
@Crimson;
Your admiration is inspiring. There have been other reasons for not taking on more of a leadership role, but it seems I can not escape it even in a video game. I think we all need a reminder of why its important to stay true to who we are. Yeah, I am going all wax poetic again, but its time to stop running. Its been a true hell of a few years for me, even if I appear lighthearted.
@Samarkand;
I would be lying if I said I wasnt hesitant to really follow through with taking more of a leadership role. My intent was to put a stop to the zoom/SAB exploit nonsense, but I think there is a larger life lesson for me in this. Its so interesting how the universe works sometimes..
@Darkhaven;
I think we can definitely put a stop to this, but it will require us to work together. Its not a matter of one person giving orders, but of enabling all of us on our server to bring what we can to the table and help each other learn and grow. It limits us when we have those who choose to take the easy and cheap way. We are better than that, and in the long run, it will do nothing but limit our ability to grow and advance as a team.
Now, the only thing left to do is carry through with it.
And stomp some faces!
@Crucify;
I will try to make it to the fight club. I am interested to see how I stack up. I just completely re-did my build and it would be a trial by fire, of sorts. Hopefully I can pull off at least one win! I have seen my Maul hitting for 5k+, and I like dem numbers!
To everyone else (including you Gab), I know I make jabs, and even outright troll sometimes.. but its all in good fun. Dont take it too seriously! I think it should be clear, even through the limitations of text, when I actually get serious about something.
Game on! Maybe Ill even try to get some people in my guild, or something. I have so many strategies I want to try out, but need a dozen or two dozen to try it out. Well see how that goes, but my main goal is to put a stop to the exploits. Its time DH started to stomp faces respectfully (lulz!).
Sadly no, couldn’t really tell where exactly the offending AC’s were (and I figure there was three, as indicated by the third picture). There was a tad too many DH throwing stuff at me that I really couldn’t give it a good look over. Picture number 2 is basically what I could see before I had to scurry back.
I know, it’s not the whole server, but still, I was (and am) quite miffed to find out that it’s been going on. Figured Darkhaven already had enough of an advantage…
I understand.
Like I said, I will do my part, but I am only one person. And one who has remained relatively silent overall. But, I hope I am not alone in it.
If I am, I have no issue transferring to another server.
I consider acts like this one of the highest forms of disrespect. I may make jabs, but they are in good spirits. Respect is a really, really big thing for me.
It is of course a water field so you get more regeneration when you shoot through it or a heal if you leap in it.
Blast finishers are great to use as well (though I dont think rangers have any?).
If you see a warriors banner around, pick it up and press 5 to put it down in the middle of the field. I am pretty sure this creates a blast finisher with all banners, but could be mistaken. It definitely works on the ones I have tried
edit: According to this it should work with all banners. Very useful, imo.

I also want to add that I will be publicly informing our server of this behavior through /map and /team chat each time I log in and before I log out.
I know that there are many who are unwittingly participating in this, and they should be made aware of it. If awareness can be raised about the issue, ideally, the behavior will cease. Even though we would win without using it, I really want nothing to do with it.
I am aware this is “just a game,” but I think its indicative of a more deeply rooted societal problem that reveals ones true nature once they even have a hint of a mask of anonymity.
And apologies to those whom I felt had questionable intentions behind the accusations. I will learn from it, and do better.
Can you please be the supreme ruler of Darkhaven now? Seriously, why can’t all of DH act like this guy?
It just bothers the hell out of me because I have no doubt, at this point, that I have contributed to this by building those ACs. I am accepting my responsibility in it.
Its completely kittening ridiculous that we, DH, are resorting to this sort of deplorable behavior.. and for what? We are already winning by a huge margin, and even if we werent, there is still NO EXCUSE for this.
I can guarantee I will be publicly asking ANYONE who places an AC near a wall whether or not they are cheating. I will then watch. If it hits anything that it isnt supposed to, or if its even HINTED that its being used in this way, I will be reporting immediately.
You know, I have been a leader in almost every game I played, and a kitten good one. Because of my health, and the stress involved in leadership, I have taken a backseat this time around. But, as I see it, I would rather deal with that stress than guilt by association to this sort of bullkitten.
Normally, I am pretty laid back, but this sort of thing truly does bother me. Ill do what I can to put a stop to it.
@Pixie;
That first picture makes it perfectly clear. Did you happen to see the guild tag of the person on the AC? I know you cant publicly say it, but please send me a PM if you did.
Why are we using these things DH? Seriously. This isnt some life or death situation where “anything goes.” Its a game where we challenge ourselves against others, and to use things like this gives us ALL a bad name.
Completely ridiculous.
edit: To be perfectly clear, I want nothing to do with a server that continues to use this. Its bullkitten. Obviously, I am just one person, but I guarantee I am not alone.

Personally, I’ve had a lot of fun this matchup. We have new mortal enemies ( I will killz you Nova! ), new friends ( Friends don’t let friends take thier Yak ), and even found some common ground with other servers. Now if I could just get my new bff Melodey to answer my calls all would be well.
I actually have had a ton of fun as well. I know some take this really seriously.. but I have had a blast with both IoJ and DR on the field. For the first time, I actually have specific guild targets that I will drop everything I am doing just to go fight. I love that, and havent felt that way in a long, long time.
I know the scores are a bit lopsided, but I have really been enjoying the fight win or lose. There seems to be a slow respect forming between the servers for me. I really enjoy some of the forum wars as well, though perhaps, some take it a bit more seriously than others.
Would you prefer to watch a soccer game where every competing team could field as many players as they possibly could, rather than their 11 strongest?
I wouldnt mind watching that. Add tazers into the mix for added lulz.
I think the more interesting alignment would be (DR+IoJ) pushing DH. IoJ and DR defend their own BLs, and stay out of the other’s BL. One (DR or IoJ) go offensive in EB, the other (IoJ or DR) go offensive in DHBL. This would give DH a first hand experience of having to deal with numbers on multiple fronts, which we experience every week. If DH can stand up to that, well they deserve their place. If they get rolled, well we can all say the only reason why they are 1st is numbers. I think (#2+#3) v. (#1) would be way more interesting than (#1+#3) v. (#2) as it has been.
Honestly, I kind of think that is the intent behind the general system of WvW. Ideally, even if one server is stronger than each of the other servers individually, they would struggle to deal with both.
edit: I know for certain that DH doesnt even have close to the combined numbers of DR and IoJ.
In practice, however, this seems to be incredibly, incredibly difficult to pull off for any meaningful length of time. Not impossible, by any means, its just hard to get people on the same page on a single server, much less two.

Is it possible to face-palm yourself into delirium??? You kitten all over us for supposedly saying we’re better than you and now you roll with this? Wow.
Pot. Kettle. Black.
I think so. Either way, Ive got just the picture for this specific occasion.
Are you kidding me? Shotgun trebs are like… The best thing ever!
It wouldn’t surprise me if it was in fact a DR player, it seems only our server know of this untapped potential.
Yes, especially effective when the gate is at 20%, not reinforced, mostly undefended, and with several rams already on the door.
Perfect situation for a treb!
yeah Tuluum. I edited my post to reflect that point. But everyone knows that as soon as a server meets some real opposition that a solid third of its wvw population falls off the planet.
Some people only stick around for an easy win so they can wave their arms around and lick the drippings from the gravy train….time will tell what happens when the gravy turns to poop.
Exactly. I agree completely. I have actually been thinking about just making an open offer in chat. Something like “Hey, if you are new and have ANY questions, feel free to ask!” Just.. something to try to mitigate our losses.
all i know is im super excited to face sorrows furnace. as ive heard they have a fire under their rears with something to prove…i cant wait for friday!
Wait.. is this looking like a real possibility? I dont follow the scores or trends or anything. I would love to face SF again.
@Melodey;
That cat looks PIISSSSED! But when arent they? :lol:
@Hyjaxxx;
You know, I think its actually possible that we currently do have the players to compare to BP and AR. We have gotten a ton of new players involved, and also the inevitable fairweather wubbers. Most of these will not be retained, but he (Gab) may have a point, regardless of how I feel about his lack of objectivity.
I think the main difference is that the population of AR and BP is much more stable than our own. I am pretty sure their dedicated wubbers outnumber our own by a great amount, though that could change if we can manage to retain all the new players.
(edited by Tuluum.9638)
EDIT: Btw, I play in T5 too. You have way more players than both BP and AR, consistently and throughout the week.
If we face them again, I would be interested to see how accurate this is. I know we certainly didnt have the numbers to compare to them the last time we played them. But, I HAVE noticed quite a large amount of new players in the past couple weeks. I wonder how many we will retain if we start losing (thats the tricky, innit?). Has anyone else from DH noticed the same? Even better, they are asking questions. On that note, I want to say; if someone makes a mistake, etc. lets just explain it to them instead of making fun of them?
Yesterday, when at IoJ inner gate, someone dropped a treb and said “build this treb.” The tone of the comments that followed were pretty ugly. We just need to explain why its not the best situation to use something like a treb, instead of insult them and possibly lose a new player who is only trying to help. Or, puts tin foil hat on it was actually a Doctor (new coinphrase for DR player, btw) who was trying to ruin our attempt at taking the objective.
I really enjoy playing against AR. Though, DR is slowly working its way into my cold heart.

And as a note (I am pretty sure of this);
If traited for “vigor on use of healing skills” each pulse of the healing spring will provide vigor. I remember it happening this way, but I will test a bit later just to make sure (unless someone else confirms it to be the case as well).
