Removing an option like this has many faults. 1. It closes the ways to obtain a precursor. 2. It forces players to grind out specific dungeons. 3. It kills the precursor economy and makes getting one even more painful.

Do you mean the economy that was destroyed by exploiters and TP-no-lifes? Precursors are far too difficult to obtain.

Obtaining a legendary should be done through legendary feats. Not luck and credit cards.

And yes, that class-specific heal on a 30 sec cd is a good window of opportunity for trash mobs to smack you down when you’ve had to dodge their endless CC.

Half of them shorter than 30s (19 exactly out of 32 skills) and you can CC trash mobs easily. Protection and weakness helps too, along with blinds. Of course, you can dodge too.
If you personally have issues to not even unable to kill trash mobs in 30 seconds, but the need to use your heal skills, i smell some l2p issue. No offense, it’s just sounds that way. Any detail what class and build are you using?

None taken. I’ll admit when I made the transition from GW1 > 2 there were problems. It only took a couple months to really get used to the game, and since then, no major issues. I’m just voicing my opinion of how group play/dungeon mechanics can be improved.

I main a warrior with full PVT armor+soldier runes and berserker accessories. 0/30/10/30/0. That’s the build that works best for me. Decent damage with group support. If I get kicked for using it, so be it.

I used to run full tank back in the day. No chance of that now. Badly designed dungeons force full on dps builds, and it’s unlikely Anet will do anything about dungeons in the near future.

It’s all good that there are a few groups now and again who just accept everyone regardless of what their stats are, but it’s direction this game has headed, when everyone just wants to rush through dungeons. Boss skipping/stacking/exploiting is all possible and that leads to the speedclear crowd, who end up being the most toxic of any playerbase.

Now and again? Do you even PUG? If you did, you’d know that normal groups fill almost instantly.

Speedclear crowds don’t mind you playing the way you want to. Many people however don’t wanna let “elitists” play the way they want to. I wonder which is the bitter and toxic part of the playerbase?

Get zerker gear, spam 1, dodge when it’s required, spam 1 again, repeat.

You acknowledge zerkers dodge? I am truly amazed.

It’s more the fact that it’s the only tactical thing a zerker-zombie has to do in the entire fight.

That’s not even slightly true. A person like that would be kicked instantly. However, people like you are improving. It used to be just “stack and press 11111111”.

Yes, as a matter of fact I PUG all the time. 1 in 3 or 4 groups usually just accept all, while the remainder of the LFG system is littered with group ads such as ‘zerk+80 only, 10k+ AP, no noobz pls.’ Quite a deterrent for new players who wish to learn dungeons, but have no means to do so unless they PUG or sit on youtube for hours on end looking at walkthroughs.

And please, don’t twist my words. It’s clearly obvious zerkers don’t just spam 1. It’s just a joke of how effortless the build can be. You know, sometimes they have to press 2 on their GS. It’s quite a challenge.

Guild halls with upgrade-able/changeable objects and appearances would be great to see. Perhaps the use of materials will have more purpose than making golds and throwing them into the mystic toilet. Once character customization becomes a complete bore people would have a good deal of fun focusing on something other than their characters.

And Anet.. that can be an entirely new tab in the Gem Store. Which means more $$$. The players get hours of enjoyment, Anet gets a nice cash boost. Everyone’s happy.

I really don’t get your crowd. Go play a game that has the trinity, why is that so hard?

I don’t play the meta build, i make my own groups, no one cares. I roleplay and RP walk in dungeons, because they are my groups. Join better groups! There will always be a best group. There will always be a best build. But the wonder of gw2 is that you can do anything you want to, literally, and still complete the content.

Because this is the game we’re playing right now. I’m no WoW-style fanboy by any means. But I’m pretty sure I’m not the only GW player who dislikes the system.

There are different options for classes? The majority of dungeon groups only care about berserker stats, nothing else. The way these dungeons are designed and the lack of a trinity only makes ONE build viable for each class. Why bother going tank/healer when you can have 5 warriors hitting 2 on GS every 6 seconds?

Yes, there are. A lot of build is viable, however there are only a few that is optimal.
The whole concept about combat is that every class is capable to do every role (damage, support and control) more or less, which means they are self reliant. Are you aware of the fact, that every class and every build has a self heal skill?

Even GW1 had a class purely for healing, which meant problems in missions/dungons were solved and your entire team didn’t have to suffer the dreaded ‘wipe’ every 4 seconds because of the lack of an aggro system. There is no dedicated healing class in this game, which means 2 things in PvE:

• Dungeons are chaotic and the mobs/bosses are uncontrollable.
• Open world PvE such as boss events only require a ton of players spamming 1

Too much nostalgia blinds your vision my friend. See above, you don’t need a healer. Blasting in water fields is more efficient anyway, without any healing power investment. Bosses can be controlled, defiant can be stripped, they can be slowed by either cripple or chill.
The later one is true sadly most of the time, BUT the most recent event with the knights showed that that is not enough everytime.

The rest of your posts shows that you didn’t pay attention in this thread, so sorry that i won’t react to it.

There is 0 nostalgia in my post. Anet added a solution with the lack of controlling aggro. The monk, and later the rit. Infact eles and necros could be off-healers when they wished to.

And yes, that class-specific heal on a 30 sec cd is a good window of opportunity for trash mobs to smack you down when you’ve had to dodge their endless CC.

I didn’t know dungeons need a tank. #LearnNewThingsEveryDay

I dislike the trinity and very much like what anet has done to keep it out of their game. I like that I have options with each class. I’m glad that my guardian can be a DPS truck and a cleric (not that I would ever do that because why?) but I’m happy to have the option.

Playing how anyone wants is awesome. I’m sorry that without the trinity, however, you are not playing how you want. But trinity games are a dime a dozen, but there aren’t many like guild wars 2. And that’s nice.

• Dungeons are chaotic and the mobs/bosses are uncontrollable.
• Open world PvE such as boss events only require a ton of players spamming 1

Just because the trinity is used in many other MMOs doesn’t make it a bad thing to implement. Anet tried to be ‘original’ and took a step towards ‘Every class can do everything’ and that hasn’t worked. They tried to fix what isn’t broken, and they’ve pretty much destroyed the group system. To sum up PvE: Get zerker gear, spam 1, dodge when it’s required, spam 1 again, repeat.

Games like Rift have solved the problem of only 1 class for 1 role by making each class have multiple roles. Which I was hoping for in this game when I heard there was a trait system, but to my disappointment Anet has infact done the opposite and then removed the only class that was able to handle the chaos in groups.

I don’t really want to bash on the anti-trinity crowd, but dungeons are just not enjoyable when everyone is running one build, and that it’s the only accepted build in the majority of the playerbase.

To ppl that asked for vertical progression...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Turgut.4397

As a player who hates hitting the brick wall that is ‘vertical progression.’ The grind needed in this game for acquiring the need materials for ascended, is just a drop in the ocean compared to other MMOs, when gearing for end game. Not to mention, you do not have to gear purely for both PvE and PvP. Your desired PvE build can work just fine in WvW. Not that WvW takes much skill anyway, what does the ascended/exotic ratio matter anyway? The biggest zerg wins, and that’s that.

Now if you think ascended gear makes that much of a difference and it is ruining the game for you, then by all means leave. But bear in mind, the stat difference isn’t even worth thinking about.

People are waaaay too attached to numbers. Guild Wars is not about that, but ofcourse the ex-WoW crowd, who single handedly changed the game to cater to themselves while Anet completely disregarded it’s own fans, are responsible for the addition of vertical progression. Alot of these people try to treat all other MMOs as WoW, and that’s where the problem lies. They’ve gotten so used to it’s style and mechanics, it’s influenced them to play like it in whatever big MMO comes next.

Anet needs to bring back their originality and step away from the mainstream. That’s what made GW1 such a unique game in a sea of MMO clones.

I know a fair amount of people who have returned to GW1, but there’s still a good chunk of us around. But I agree with Chuo. GW2 has indeed forgotten what made GW1 everyone’s favourite, and have directed their attention to ex-WoW/similar MMO players. Which was just a kick in the balls for many of us who played GW for several years. It was hard to adapt at first, but I still think it’s an enjoyable game in some areas. It’s quite sad to see the game brought down the such a casual level too. GW was all about player ability, now it’s ‘hit dodge, move from cirlce, spam 1 with zerker gear.’ That’s probably another reason so many GW1 players left too. The skill system is just effortless and the only things stopping you are cooldowns.

I haven’t done the LS properly since the last Southsun.. Not because of inactivity but purely because it doesn’t interest me one bit, when I’m forced to do boring content every 2-4 weeks. It started off as a good idea to get people playing, but I for one am not interested in it anymore. There’s nothing to drive me to play the LS. Now that finally sPvP has a gold reward (Thank you Anet, finally!) I guess I can return to something a little more worthwhile.

What I would like to see are patches 1-3 months in the works, to provide us with, well written, enjoyable, and primarily.. permanent content which we can return to. When are we going to fight more dragons? I’m not really counting the world events here, I mean an advance in the Personal Story. It will give us more to do, perhaps with new dungeons/weapons/armor obtainable from said dungeons. I think there’s far too much focus on gemstore equipment. Which is fine…. but can’t we have more things to work towards in-game rather than expect to whip out our wallets because there’s a new set of armor every week?

Not a huge fan of vertical progression, but ascended gear is still something to work towards, casual or hardcore. So I say good job on that too.

Why can’t Anet take their time with updates? It will please both the content locusts and the casuals, and I think it will get people involved a little more, and stay a while longer, if the content is well planned over the course of months and kept relatively permanent. There are so many undiscovered areas on the map. Dominion of Winds, Ring of Fire islands, Crystal Desert. And the possibility of expanding to Cantha (I’d really like to see what Cantha has become under the current Emperor) and Elona (Kick Joko’s behind).

There is so much potential but Anet is wasting it (imho) on small, rushed, temporary content.

Gem skin should be unlimited use - quick fix

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Turgut.4397

they did it in gw1, just something else we loved about guild wars 1 that isn’t in gw2.

They also required you to pay real money in GW1. While in GW2 you can technically pay for it with gold.

Have you seen the current Gold > Gem prices? GW1 skins were relatively cheaper, with unlimited use. And you could just buy it for it’s actual price, and not be forced to only a few options of purchasing gems, the cheapest being £8.50..

I think it’s a fantastic idea, but it’s far too profitable for Anet to abandon the current system, and risk disappointing their NCsoft overlords. Gaming companies simply do not care about customer satisfaction anymore, unless it brings in the dough.

Why do people stop playing GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Turgut.4397

Turgut.4397

I quit because I wanted a Guild Wars game. Not another WoW, this time with oversimplified skills and a ‘dodge everything and win’ button.

I’ve played on and off since pre-release, well over a thousand hours of my life spent (or wasted?) here. But I thought enough is enough. I think a year and 2 months was a bit generous of me to think Anet would change this game for the better. I haven’t once felt like this game is the successor to the masterpiece that was GW1. What Anet has chosen to do is abandon the ideas that made their first game great, and moved on to feed these hardcore, ex-WoW/grindy MMO content locusts, and their never ending thirst for pretty stats and meaningless numbers.

As much as I have personally admired the GW series over WoW, the latter of the two felt much more rewarding to the player than what GW2 has offered so far. Each quest, event, dungeon, and PvP mode feels incredibly unrewarding to the player. Dailies and monthlies give pitiful rewards for the effort put into them.

The living story is a huge joke, with equally unsatisfying rewards for the time and effort put into it by the players. It’s a huge time waste for the dev team when they have to rush and reach ridiculously short deadlines, so they can throw at us some tacky, poorly designed story for the next couple weeks to keep the locusts entertained. What’s that famous saying around here? ‘Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad.’ It took over a year to add a LFG tool, and still we are waiting for guild halls. Why? I think the LS needs to be scrapped to work on larger, and more enjoyable content, we can actually keep up with, both time and lore wise.

There is no purpose to any class or role. It’s either DPS or DPS. Going any other build only hinders your performance by failing to get through the MASSIVE amount of HP of trash mobs and bosses, before you end up getting 2 shot with 30k hp. The trinity set up/dedicated healing classes are looking good again in my eyes.

I think enough has been said about ascended gear/the ridiculous amount of grind required, and the removal and nerfing of worthwhile grind spots/and (gem store) RNG. Still our words fall on deaf ears.

All I want to see is this game to remove the feeling of ‘emptiness.’ I want to log in for a few hours a day, and when I log off, feel like something has been accomplished depending on the amount of effort put in. It’s a huge shame. I’ve enjoyed GW1 for 7 years, without a single complaint, but when I see the population of GW1 rising again steadily, I wonder why..

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I missed having structure. I know GW1 wasn’t tank and spank, since the aggro system was as confusing as this game, but having a monk/rit taking care of a team, I will miss. It wasn’t exactly a trinity either.

Every class in gw2 can be anything from dps to support, which apparently gives every class some ‘purpose.’ However all people want are mesmers/warriors. Yet people complain about the trinity only focusing one certain classes/roles. I can tell you I haven’t been enjoying Time Warp Hundred Blade Wars 2.

I was hoping for Guardians to be more like a battle cleric/priest, either going tanky or dedicated healer. But hey, apparently healing 5% of your groups HP every half hour while normal dungeon mobs whack off 50% of it in 2 hits is perfectly fine.

500 AP for GW1 Hall of Monuments Intended?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Turgut.4397

Turgut.4397

Its not like you cant go & earn them like everyone else did.

You cannot ride a dead horse, mate.

It’s not dead, go fire up GW1 & go earn yourself those 500 AP.

I already tried playing GW1, and the game is quite dead. But there is a living successor to GW1, you might have heard of it? GW2?

And those of you who think they are the same game, well, what do you have to do in GW2 to get any bonus in GW1? If there are such things, then maybe you have the same game and they are linked. If not, they are two separate games, and GW1 players really got their fancy titles, skins, etc. as a well earned compensation. But, in GW2 they achieved nothing within GW2, so there should be no achievement points awarded there.

One sad truth about this is, that those players with a high AP count (those that usually care about those points), are also some of the most active and (thus) maybe for ANet among the most profitable players. The shame on losing these players would be on those greedy, selfish and arrogant GW1 players who were not satisfied with having played a good game and being rewarded but think they deserve more and even more free rewards in GW2 just because they spent a lot of time in GW1 already.

If ANet feels the GW1 players needs more rewards, well, send those deserving a chest by mail, but keep the past out of the present game.

What a ridiculous comment. We didn’t ask for the point increase. If anyone is arrogant it’s the non-GW1 players who have been whining constantly since the start of the game, because those who spent years, and thousands of hours were rewarded for their loyalty, and those who only just arrived start crying ‘UNFAIR, WHY THEY GET SKINS AND TITLES BUT NOT US.’

If people are so traumatized over this update, they seriously…. seriously… need to rethink where they’re heading in life. The bonus achievement points didn’t cause a hassle before. Now why does it cause one? Because someone beat you on the AP LEADERBOARD (I laugh every time I see this). If you want to get real competitive there is PvP. There are more important issues in the game than complaining about LOYAL players being REWARDED.

If Anet wants to reward GW1 players they need to do so in a manner that is not competitive in GW2. They should get things like custom armor/weapons, custom titles, custom minis, custom ranger pets, free gems for the gem store, heck they could even put a daily ori node in their home instance. I don’t care. Just don’t do something that puts other players at a major disadvantage and forces them to buy GW1 to stay competitive.

In what way are achievement points competitive? Oh.. the leaderboards? They mean nothing. Achievement points mean nothing. You people are treating this update like all GW1 players received full ascended gear and a legendary..

This update has done nothing to the game. People are just finding an excuse to bash on those who had the opportunity to play GW1. And don’t lie, because it happened before near release. When we were awarded with out long awaited HoM rewards. The non-GW1 crowd cried ‘UNFAIR.’ It’s the same scenario. If you didn’t play GW1 for the rewards, tough. Seriously why are people getting angry at 500 AP? We spent thousands of hours playing GW1. The whole point of the HoM was to reward us and give us something to look forward to in GW2. The people who didn’t play GW1, tough. You should have. It’s like going straight to Game 3, and expecting to have the same experience without playing Game 1 or 2. Where is the sense in that?

GW2 had HUGE potential. We saw this before release. Now the devs are running around like headless chickens having suggestions flying at them like rocks from every direction. What do they do? In such a panic, they fail to recognize any of the GOOD suggestions, and decide to go off and do their own thing to the dislike of the playerbase, both casual AND hardcore.

Now I’m far too invested in GW. Both time and money wise. GW1 improved massively over the years. And I’m still clinging onto hope that GIVEMEMONEYsoft will pull their heads out from their behinds and start focusing on their biggest title. And it’s up to Anet to start pressuring GIMMEMONEYsoft to giving them much greater funding and stop thieving from this game’s (GUILD WARS) profits.

GW2 mobs are far better then GW1 mobs mainly because in GW1 they used a lot less mob types then GW2. Most of the mob diversity in GW1 was just a simple color changes.

Wait, which GW1 have you been playing? Clearly we haven’t played the same one. GW1 has a HUGE diversity of mobs.

Experiencing horrible lag on US servers

Hello there. Over the past two weeks or so I’ve been getting hit by horrible lag (latency). This happens throughout the day, and nothing to do with peak times. I am an EU player, but before this issue, my connection was perfectly fine on the US servers. No delays, no high latency etc.

Now all of a sudden over the course of days, it is literally unplayable. I can move around fine, but I cannot activate my skills/interact with anything, then end up rubberbanding everywhere, with a MASSIVE delay on skills.

My ISP is fine, there are no problems with my connection/router and bla bla. I can run any other game perfectly fine (even if it’s EU -> US) my ping is good. Any info would be great, since right now, I haven’t been able to properly play since 2 weeks ago.

The game has been horribly optimized since launch and Anet simply doesn’t do anything about it. With any other company fixing performance as poor as this would be a number 1 priority, but Anet doesn’t seem to understand that.

I’ve got a PC that plays Crysis 3 on high at 30FPS, but loading times in GW2 are abysmally long and performance grinds to a halt the moment I so much as think of going to Lion’s Arch or taking part in the shadow behemoth event. It’s quite clearly a game issue, yet Arenanet isn’t doing crap about it.

This. I have sent so many crash reports since launch. What have they done about it? Nothing.

This game has the worst optimization I’ve ever seen since the Black Ops PC port. My PC is perfectly capable of running any game with average-high settings with decent fps. Yet on GW2, low gfx I will have consistently low fps, and after a certain amount of WP uses/zones (especially in and out of major cities) I will crash.

I haven’t bothered sending reports as of the last couple of weeks. It’s hopeless, and it is clear they do not even check the reports. Why is there an option to leave your e-mail adress behind? So they can respond? HA. Good one.

100% agree with the OP. The game has not progressed into a relaxed gaming environment. It’s just become a ‘second job.’

I REALLY hope Anet/NCsoft get their acts together, because Neverwinter is looking pretty good right now.

What is it that Guild Wars 2 needs the most?

I’ll stick to bullet points:

• REMOVAL of diminishing returns. It serves no good purpose and only creates confusion and stress among the community.

• REMOVAL of RNG based progression. What’s so legendary about gambling for a legendary? Exploiters/TP players destroyed precursor market. You have a better chance of getting a precursor from the mystic toilet.

• Solid, enjoyable and permanent content. One time events are good. But not one after another. Anet needs to spend some time on decent, permanent content within Tyria..

• Dungeon re-design. No mob/boss skipping, reduce trash mob hp, boss fights are boring enough, this is why the majority of mobs are skipped in the first place. Spending a half hour hitting at a silver/gold enemy isn’t fun.

• A more diverse selection of skills. Since it’s obvious we’re not getting extra skills for the current weapon sets. Enable classes to have access to a wider range of equipment. Why can’t rangers use rifles? Why can’t warriors use shortbows and daggers? Why can’t ele’s use swords and axes? Right now you can max every weapon skill even before level 10, then you end up using 1 or 2 for the next 70 levels.

• No ascended gear beyond accessories. Guild Wars has never been about fancy stat items, but clearly they want to cater to a certain crowd. This only creates more barriers.

• Addition of items worth buying from the gem store. Unlimited harvest tools (why were the sales limited? These were huge sellers, bring them back). More armor/weapon skins. More variation of town clothes (we have enough tops I think). I highly doubt the majority of people are paying real cash for things like boosts and a portable mystic toilet. Repair canisters? Revive orbs? Who buys these? I’ve still got the ones given to me from Traeherne on the 2nd to last mission, just taking up bag space. Give us things we really WANT to spend our money on.

• Guild Halls, Guild Halls, Guild Halls. Need I say more?

• More sPvP maps and game-modes.

• Target cast bars.

• Almost a year on, where is the in-game LFG tool? Surely we can’t rely on a third party app until the end of time. RIFT managed this tool in a few months of release, and a month or two later, even made it cross server/realm. Is it really too difficult?

That’s all the important things I believe are missing from this game. Other than that, keep up the good work Anet, and hopefully NCsoft will get their stuff together and focusing on their MAIN MMO.

Not to mention NCsoft take in all the income from bought gems.. the money is spread out through their games. There will be an expansion, but when? NCsoft need to get their kitten in gear, and focus on their most successful MMO.. GUILD WARS.

Wildstar? Wow, player housing, that’s not been done before. Aion was a flop. Tabula Rasa lasted 2 years. How will Wildstar be any different? They need to pump all their cash into GW2 and Anet, so we start getting good, enjoyable, and lasting content.

To be honest neither of the living stories have caught my interest. Haven’t done anything for them, maybe spent 30 mins wandering around, got bored, and went back to doing my own thing..

Introduce the monk class.

I’d love to see the monk come back as a hand to hand combat class. With a mixture of offensive/supportive abilities. (New ‘fist’ or ‘gauntlet’ weapons perhaps?) And before people say it would be copying Blizzard, there are plenty of games (Nevernwinter Nights 1+2, Oblivion, Martial Heroes etc) that have incorporated fighter monks into the game years before.

People saying GW1 monk is similar to GW2 guard, well, you haven’t played either of them it seems. The difference is incomparable.

Race Change

Turgut.4397

I’m definitely up for seeing a race change option in the future. If you can change your sex, your features, your name, why not race?

It’s simple. At the cost of changing your race, your personal story is reset and you must progress through it again.

People saying ‘just make a new character’ haven’t got a clue what they’re talking about. Some of us don’t have the time to invest in re-leveling from 1-80 just to turn your norn into an asura. We’d happily PAY for the opportunity to change race.

Seeing as makeover kits and name changes are selling big time, imagine the income Anet will recieve from this.

It’s an improvement of gameplay/quality for those who want to change race. And it’s easy cash for Anet. I see 0 problems with this feature.

3/10 for the troll attempt. Almost there, but you gave it away too quick.

But in all seriousness. No… just no. I don’t know even want to know how this idea came to you, but 100% no.

This just creates a HUGE barrier between skilled players and those who are not as good/new to the dungeon. Why would you want to increase the learning curve and PUNISH players for making a mistake?

The description says it has the same efficiency as an Orichalcum sickle, and yet it takes longer to use. That seems less efficient to me! Very disappointed in my purchase

Indeed. Not the best £8 I’ve spent. Hopefully they will just switch back to the real sickle animation. It’s definitely bug if it looks like you’re completely destroying that plant… and not being able to cancel while doing so.

A precursor would be an epic finish to the story. But you know, Anet prefer to give us false hopes and dreams with this bull crap called RNG.

Guess we can grind for months on end with no sleep till a precursor can be afforded.

Would you buy an expansion?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Turgut.4397

Turgut.4397

I’ll pay every last penny in my account for future expansions, but so far, this game still isn’t worth the £50 I payed for. So no.

Dungeons are designed horribly – why bother going in with a mix of classes when you can faceroll with 4 warriors and a mesmer? 90% of the mobs are skipped, which is ridiculous. High level zone mobs keep getting buffed so it’s becoming a pain rather than enjoyment doing the events/bosses. Ridiculous amount of RNG (even in the cash shop, this is 100% unacceptable).

I don’t know if it’s NCsoft or Anet who controls the content/cash shop, but if they don’t get their act together, they’re easily going to become another EA. Who currently receive 0 payment from me.

Sort it out NC/Anet. Or you’re going to completely throw 7 glorious years of guild wars down the drain.

If anything the game is incredibly unfair on PvP players, since they get absolutely nothing in return for PvE. You can only spend your glory for more PvP items…

And agreed with the comment above. I’m sure everyone has had their fair share of experience on open world PvP/PK servers in other games. Pretty much all high levels in maxed out gear camping for easy kills. That’s worse than Zerg vs. Zerg tbh.

Why should a weapon that was worth 20g on release be treated almost as a legendary? Just because the people who sit on the TP all day making gold rather than playing game, inflated the prices to a ridiculous amount. Now they’re going for 300-600g. I’d rather have increased drop chance, and a MASSIVE reduction in price for precursors than, what you’re suggesting, almost another legendary grind.

Dungeons aren't fun in my view

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Turgut.4397

Turgut.4397

Dungeons are not fun. Plain and simple. I 100% agree with the OP. Now there’s all the elitist GW2 fan boys defending it, as their own ‘challenge’ and that it’s fine as it is.

Far from it.

There’s challenge. And then there’s completely, and utterly stupid. Dungeon’s are simply not fun, because you’re bombarded with knockdowns, stuns, conditions, launches, knockbacks, etc. More than you can handle with the endurance recharge rate, all the stability/cc removal skills. That’s the problem. There is simply NO balance in dungeons.

Now some are saying, players enjoy different parts of the game, while the others enjoy this and that. Why can’t all aspects of the game be fun for everyone? Or at least do-able?

I’ve been playing since pre-launch, and I’ve probably only done half the dungeons. I regret to say each one was a frustrating experience. But why wouldn’t it be, when I’m being cut down in seconds, even in my tank gear/build, from constant AoE and CC?

I can dodge attacks, sure. I can block for a few seconds, ok. Knocked down? I’ll just pop that stability. Conditions on me, heal/remove them. Oh wait. The mobs seem to have no cooldown on any of these abilities, nor a cast bar of some sort (major flaw in the game’s design, KEY aspect of GW1) so I’m unable to react in time. All my major CC removal skills are on minute long cooldowns, while I’m being tossed around like a ball and unable to do anything while everyone’s dying and desperately hoping they can get a revive or two in, before the mobs go on another multi-CC frenzy every second.

The MAIN issue with dungeons is BALANCE. To be fair, ANet hasn’t disappointed me with balance (give or take a few cough OP classes/builds on new expansions cough) and have fixed the problems regarding them (eventually).

Well, inb4 the ‘go l2p nub’ crowd show up, and blindly defend the most terribly flawed area of the game.

The Cantha Thread [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Turgut.4397

Turgut.4397

If this is true, and I hope it isn’t, I’ll see a good reason to play less of the game. Cantha is undoubtedly the most beautiful and awe inspiring continent in GW. If the devs are truly considering the absence of Cantha in this game, because a few nationalistic, bigoted individuals don’t want to see their culture mixed with another, it will probably be seen as the death of the game by some players. I myself re-rolled a Factions character after buying the game, simply because I was amazed by it.

It’s absolutely appalling to see politics work it’s way into the gaming industry. If anything we play games to escape the stresses of everyday life. Why not just stick to ONE asian design rather than a mix? The majority of the playerbase couldn’t even tell apart Chinese or Japanese or Korean architecture. Why doesn’t the design team actually, you know, design their own?

I saw the image of the old Canthan district on the wiki, and it looks wonderful. Now it’s a great ugly hole in the ground. If we cannot progress through the story line carried on from GW1 (including all continents) then why bother playing to find out nothing about what happened to Cantha, than a rushed and poorly written wiki article?

People arguing against the need for Cantha as part of this game, that’s your opinion, but this thread is for people who actually care about the different aspects of the game making it as ‘universal’ as it was in GW1. Some actually care for story lines, design and immersion into the game environment, rather than only caring to get that number beside their name to 80, and the quality/stats of gear.

Nope… I don’t see the fun in collecting ~250 ectos and obby shards to gamble them away for a gift which makes zero sense for a legendary weapon. Or being forced to play Zerg vs. Zerg for FIVE hundred badges. The other gifts are reasonable to get though. But I’d sell the precursor anyway and enjoy the game even more with the gold.
