I agree with Kitty to some extent. This is why I always say commanding is a thankless task; I remember when we were 2v1’d at TCG and we had to keep telling people to stop repairing the wall (though they didn’t) and we even sent tells to them asking them to stop. In the end, it boiled down to all of us accusing everyone else of being spies lol!

So Well I hate to say it Yaks but we can’t compensate with pure determination .with our dwindling WvW community and I have to blame it fully on fractals. All I seen lions arch is LFG Fractals lvl 20. I’ve been in EB and we had a zerg accompanying one omega and four alpha golems rolling all over the map. That coupled with the fact that YB had outmanned in EB makes for fast capping.

Personally, I don’t think their is any planned alliance/conspiracy of TC and YB against FA. However, that doesn’t mean double teaming doesn’t occur.

I think there’s just more animosity towards FA from both the other servers than typically between servers. I think from our previous (pre-T3) match ups, there was a lot of bad blood – not everyone, but among a sufficiently large number of people. When it comes down to who to attack, things being relatively equal, YB and TC are more likely to attack FA – not planned, not coordinated, just more likely. And at times that will seem like double teaming.

We’re just viewed by enough players of each other server as not just the “enemy”, but the “Bad Guys” – ie people you have a moral obligation to defeat (maybe not conciously).

PS, Divine, if the only thing you lose overnight is territory in enemy BLs, you’re Oceanic presence isn’t that bad. All the borderlands are their respective colors now, and FA only has +35 point income lead. Up until a few weeks ago, (NA) FA had to always awake to seeing nearly everything lost.

The irony of it is that the people who come to QQ on the forums about TC’s alliance with our beloved Yaks <3 <3 <3 are actually exacerbating the problem; I see people whinge unnecessarily and snipe at other servers and that grinds my gears. As such, there are quite a lot of FA at the top of my to-kill list.

It’s nice to see there are some people who are sensible and are able to employ some common sense. There’s only so many times that you can blame other people and only so many times that people will put up with that kind of crap. But I will say that I’ll always be gunning for FA’s (and YB’s!) d/d elementalists. If you see a human mesmer with a glowing pistol, that’s me and I will do my best to kill youuuu~

Oh yah, I forgot to mention… It’s enough if you leave a few people behind at a keep for info. If you get them to hang around on the walls, then that makes it more difficult for mesmers to portal people in.

It’d be nice to have the weather change randomly like irl but I’d be happy with new maps too lol.

My guild routinely beats portal bombs used against us. I recognize when a few people sit and talk together can’t figure out a solution, it seems like there likely isn’t one. That’s simply not the case with portal bombs.

WvW may be billed as casual friendly, but it’s best enjoyed with a guild or group of friends who communicate on TeamSpeak/Vent/Mumble. You will find the portal itself is never culled out, ever. As a team people who are sensitive to portals will bark them out on Teamspeak and counter measures are taken. Those should be obvious.

Portals provide much needed strategy in the otherwise bland siege warfare. The game needs to foster strategy more, not reduce it.

There is nothing wrong with portal bombs for ambushes. There is something wrong with being able to hide classes inside a keep once it gets taken and then bypass half of the keeps defenses and take it before they can even react because 1 single skill in the game lets you bypass walls.

And people are like lawl noob, mesmer sweep!!

Yes you can sweep but it’s toxic gameplay forcing 20 people to spend 5 minutes sweeping a keep only to still possibly miss a mesmer thanks to the amount of hiding places and stealth. Heck most people don’t even run a thief with said mesmer to help them stay stealthed for 20+ seconds if needed.

Oh so 1 person found the mesmer in hills keep? don’t worry they are near a cliff and will almost certainly simply throw that person off the cliff and hide again nearby. It’s not balanced and it’s not fun gameplay when used on keeps.

It’s a perfectly balanced and strategic addition to the game when not being used to bypass keep walls.

Maybe it was a typo but mesmers can’t stealth people for 20 secs. Also, if chained, the longest mesmers can hide for is 14 seconds but they’d need to have torch equipped. I think in the higher tiers, hiding in keeps is more difficult since people are aware of it and always make sure to sweep. The point you made about the Hills is kind of blend; I was hiding near the cliffs the other day and I managed to pull one person off but being found, I knew it was too late. 1) He would’ve alerted the rest of his team 2) There are few viable hiding places in all of the keeps 3) Mesmers cannot stealth for very long and have terrible mobility. If I get found, I know it’s more or less impossible to hide again.

I always make a point of telling ppl, when sweeping, to spam their autoattack/tab button since it will tag any hiding mesmers. It’s already on a higher cool down. Personally I would’ve preferred a person limit since I liked to use it to escape in a bad fight but it’s no longer viable. And five minutes isn’t that long anyway. In reality, it’s probably closer to two minutes or something.

The FA people I play with, would never, NEVER, help another server by killing enemy siege attacking their keep/tower/whatever, nor would we help protect it while it upgraded. Are you all honestly justifying this idea? Did you even read what the person said?

This sounds like the same rationality for camping the jump puzzle or spawn camping or hacking or glitching, and so on and so forth. And you claimed to be the one server that was above all of that. I remember when we were playing Blackgate you suggested it was all about the fun battles and and enjoy the defense, etc. This today sounds like metagaming and winning at any cost, not even close to the same TC we played before.

Now as far as the personal attacks, I was not there, I do not care, SMC has flipped more times to count so who cares, and that’s not the point. No one should have things handed by them on a silver platter by an enemy. And no that is not how the game was intended.

There are a lot of negative things I could say about FA at this point, but this kind of actions are not one of them thank goodness. You know what we would have done in that situation? We would have bunkered down built a lot of siege and stood our ground like the bad kitten we are, and if we lost it, we would have lost it in a good fight. Not pull some hypocritical, backhanded metagaming bs.

I agree there is a thing called strategy, but there also is a thing called honor, and why should we be sacrificing that for a game?

And since we are putting this out there like this I would also like to point out I have seen this more then 10 times so far this match, this kind of ‘tactic’.

Also, I have seen some great players from both Yak’s and TC, just as when we played before. And I will continue to play, just because of them, thankfully they are the majority.

It’s a game lol. Who cares about honour? I don’t know why people are getting so emotional over a wuvwuv match.

Anyways I have seen some pretty questionable things this week, but I don’t think there is much point in discussing it. Small groups or even leaders don’t represent the server. And complaining does not change that they have happened.

I would say for myself, and myself alone, I would not condone that and if my leader, or guild leader did that I would leave. The same goes for spawn camping or any other bad sport thing. In fact I had an argument on telling people not to spawn camp just last night. This is a game for fun for me, if I had to pull these kind of tactics I would just play something else. I will not win at any cost.

Okay, yes, I keep posting in this thread and other threads about the recent patch. But increasingly, I’m getting more annoyed and frustrated. On top of this new bug which has cut phantasm damage down significantly, I’ve heard mesmers have also been made a little weaker and I can feel it when I’m being sliced through like butter. And nope, I’m not glass cannon.

How can you renege on what you previously said? I thought mesmers were supposed to be the magical duelist class, but it seems that when the forums complain enough, the devs nerf for the sake of so-called ‘balance’. And now, mesmers being the duelist class no longer seems to be the case.

How can people say portal is game-breaking and it trivializes content? It adds a new mechanic, to WvW for instance, because now people have to be on the look out for portals. It should be made easier to differentiate between friendly and enemy portals though. Portal was something I would use in combat for if I needed a quick escape and now, it’s no longer viable for that use. I think there should have been a cap on the number of people and that the cooldown should have either stayed the same or been reduced slightly. The cooldown for Blink, I feel, is also too long. Considering that mesmers lack mobility, it would make it a lot easier if it was on a lower cooldown. I envy d/d elementalists, simply because Ride The Lightning is on such a low cooldown and provides ease of movement.

The increased cooldown on staff skills was unwarranted imo, but then again, I can’t really feel the difference since I don’t use staff that much nowadays. When some players encounter mesmers in Wuvwuv, they get flustered and then they lose and declare mesmers OP. It wasn’t ever the case that mesmer damage was anywhere near as high or bursty as thieves. I really hope people didn’t fall for threads that claimed how phantasms took them down to 3k health or something silly like that.

Moreover, why haven’t mesmer skills been split into PvE and PvP as has been the case for guardians? That kind of move implies preferential treatment towards another profession. I don’t even know.

And look at the way ‘Moa Morph’ has been handled; I don’t mind that the powers have been changed to make it easier for people who are moa’d but it’s like mesmers are being nerfed to make it less frustrating for their opponents. Wasn’t frustrating and confusing your opponent meant to be the whole idea?

It seems like the devs are using the constant complaining on the forums as a way to determine what needs balancing and where. I don’t agree with that tbh. People will always complain until they get what they want and until it’s made easier for them. If and where thieves, for instance, have bursted me down, I have never come to the forums to vent about it. I just think it’s kinda selfish because if that profession then receives an unwarranted nerf because I QQ’d hard enough, it’s making the game less enjoyable for those who play those professions as their mains.

As a result, a lot of us are feeling screwed over. My build isn’t completely useless now but far less effective than before and I’m really finding it fun anymore. I could care less about the new content because old bugs are being overlooked and with each new patch, things seem to be going downhill.

Personally, I’d prefer it if they used the first few months to fix all of the bugs, especially the ones concerning professions, rather than constantly releasing new content. Kinda frustrating. I’m not really interested in new content, if my class traits are broken and I feel less effective.

So a mesmer is your favourite profession to have in a group because it trivializes content? I thought you hated mesmers…

Go to Dee Jay’s profile and sift through all of his messages. Many times where he’s had something to say about mesmers, it’s usually inaccurate e.g. stealthing a zerg for 20 seconds.

It has already been nerfed and so is no longer viable as a skill to slot regularly. This constant complaining about other classes is part of what leads to professions being nerfed every single patch. Even though I get annoyed by burst thieves, I don’t go onto the forums to whine and complain. Because it seems that the devs listen to the very vocal PvPing masses and make changes based on QQ. If I complain enough, they might actually take me seriously and nerf another profession and make the game less fun for other people. Idk why you can’t just get over it and stop crying out for professions and skills to be nerfed.

Portals are not gamebreaking. They require some coordination. If people don’t read chat, which they often don’t, then they don’t use the portal and you end up with some puny little group inside a keep that can’t possibly take it back alone.

@Fungalfoot Because classes are not meant to be the same. What would be the point of giving all of the classes the same skills, just dressed up differently? Why don’t you give me pets, shields, warhorns, burst damage, shadow step, AoEs etc?

Mmm, the ability to turn someone in tuna makes me feel rly goooood~ Not. Like that somehow masks the constant nerfing of mesmer. So I was chasing someone and a tiny tree was in the way. And that tiny tree stopped me from summoning a phantasm.

It really feels like Anet is just kowtowing to the PvP masses whenever they feel like they’ve been slighted. Moa was changed to make it easier on the poor people we have to fight. No form of AoE, damage output nerfed… Thanks… seems everyone hates the mesmer now.

If it was intentional, that’s pretty underhanded tbh. I’m just annoyed because I’m feeling less and less effective in both PvE and PvP and it’s like they’re just catering to what everyone else wants, which is NERF MESMERS!

I’m kinda annoyed tbh. They need to fix the obstruction bug in WvW with NPC archers on walls at towers like Bluebriar, for instance. There is CLEARLY LoS but I continue to get obstructed with my autoattack and anything else besides Mind Stab. Berserker was the only thing that would work on them and now we don’t have that while the archers can continue to fire at me.

LoS is being able to see them, right? So surely my attacks should work on archers on the edge of the wall?

And this whole thing about blind and invulnerable enemies? Whenever people cry for nerfs because of what happened in PvP, they get what they want. Kinda disappointed.

That’s the joke though. It’s not a massive number of people. It’s just a small group of people who do it. When we’re basically outnumberd 3-1, being attacked by two servers at once, pulling those few people out of the puzzle really isn’t going to make a difference.

Honestly, if you’re THAT mad about this whole jump puzzle thing, form a group and clear it out, like every other server does. This constant complaining on the PvP forums is just sooo annoying.

So TC just cheesed their way thru the back wall of Redbriar which is laughable being they outnumbered us defenders at least 2 or 3 -1 there. It is stuff like this that will hurt you guys in tier 2, you cant be afraid to fight equal or your 2 to their 1 guys. You need to step that game up if you hope to compete up there. Just saying..

It does seem odd that something like Shadow Refuge would have a cap of 5 players and yet a Mesmer portal can teleport an entire army across the map.

I too have a hard time understanding how a single profession can have utilities that are 100 times more potent and valuable than those of any other profession.

Better solution is not the nerf portals. Instead- whenever a tower or keep is taken; highlight all enemies in the keep for 2-3 minutes so it is impossible to stealth or hide.

If you eliminate the possibility of folks hiding inside newly won points- then Mesmer portal would be useless.
