Though tier 1 threads with BG and SoR are never interesting because they’re always about coverage wars, which is zzz.
But JQ promised us that either of them would give better threads. Were we…were we lied to??
Threads? No, no, you misheard. Bread. Talk to Cuddles, you’ll understand. Bread.
To be honest, 30 was easy. The hardest part is finding that one last missing Queen’s Champion type.
But, if that were the direction, why did they not commit? I believe I would have had a better experience had Guild Wars 2 went full on 21st Century rather than a bizarre magic, sci-fi, cryptozoology, paranormal, J.R.R. Tolkien, 18th Century, 2nd Century, Jurassic, Medieval, 37th Century, 1950s era M.A.S.H.-up. If they wanted to explore the idea of Elder Dragons, it seems they should have kept firmly rooted in Medieval fantasy.
It’s rather elementary, my dear Elbegast. Technology progresses to suit added needs on a population. However, Tyria has something we don’t have… they have magic. Therefore a lot of technological advances are likely to never come to light so long as there are magical means to achieve the same goals. You’ll notice things missing… aircraft for example (save for a few “ships” magically kept aloft with a specific lore behind them) because there are waypoints. Same with a lack of mounts or common use of technological transport. Waypoints. Yes, there are pointy things, but these pointy things channel specific magics through them in combat. There are also guns and you can see the magic channel through them in their effects as well. Technology won’t progress at an “earth-like” pace or path because it doesn’t need to. They have magic filling a lot of areas where technology would have otherwise crept.
What the heck is PvF?
No wonder JQ is losing.
I lol’d
Sad part is that I still don’t know. Sigh…
pvf= player versus forum where not even the mighty sor could give mag a challenge.
Ah, gotcha. Thanks for that. Well, I guess JQ needs to lose at something this week. What’s kind of odd though are the DB people hanging out here. They need to stop teasing themselves and just go ahead and pull the trigger and transfer off that server since they like it among us so much, you know?
What could possibly go wrong?
For some reason I find that funnier and funnier the more I see it used.

please guys lets not rage over blobbing, running into towers, etc- just enjoy the game!
gg all =)I bolded the funny thing here.
Mike, do you realize how condescending your whole post comes off as? Especially when your “superiority” is based off a flawed and disproportionate metric?

You’d be silly to not have at least one point in Supply Mastery. Just saying . Same with the two build related ones.
Reality and what you see on the surface are not necessarily the same thing.
::reads chest thumping::
kitten , shoulda been a lil’ more active this week
A team that has given me a run for my money this week when I was on was Pyro. First team since TW to force us off of alts and actually take the game seriously in a few weeks, at least for a couple hours during this matchup on Monday. If we all get paired up again next week, I’ll bring a proper pain train and be active for ya
::goes back to not reading forums for a few more weeks::
Jed once killed a player with a heal skill…
… it was Chuck Norris.
What distance is this happening? We dropped plenty of rams last night without issue, some of which I’m sure had the build site overlapping the gate, others fairly far back.
No, not being one shot is the challenge.
I actually believe it’s pronounced more like Goal em.
Ya that is closer. I just really wanted to emphasize the pronunciation!
“Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate the Doc – tor!” – Hobo-Tron
When does he say this?! o.o
It is a different planet that doesn’t actually exist. I think we can allow them a little differentiation in pronunciation of the occasional word.
What if I started calling you VOLTRON instead of VOLKON >: O
You could, but that would be well beyond the realm of inflection and odds are no one would have a clue as to what you’re talking about. In Tyria, everyone seems to know what “Gah-lem” is. Now, if they pronounced it “Golly-gee-willakers”, that would be akin to your example.
It’s deck-ku alright? Everything else is wrong.
Don’t criticize something for pronouncing it a different way when it’s not technically wrong.
It is technically wrong though, that’s the thing. Maybe it isn’t a crime against humanity, but it’s still annoying when they blatantly mispronounce that has a very well established correct pronunciation and everyone defends it.
“Well established” and “correct” pronunciations are not the same thing. “Well established” can change even between counties within a state like you wouldn’t believe.
I’ll be in my bunk.
Anyway, JQ has top pvp ranked players littering the leaderboards. Mag does not. Following the basis of your logic JQ has superior pvp players. QQ
JQQ player still worried about points and not willing to prove his own skill. Bragging about his server-mates skill…
I was over on DB for a bit there and went back to JQ. You really don’t want to get me going on to why that was. Not on this thread at least.
I’m sorry you never really caught my attention when you were here or really ever that I can recall. Who are you and why should I care?
Nicely worded troll indeed. Well done. I could, of course, ask of you the same question. But since you’re wondering, I was in FIRE, came over a bit after they did before they absorbed RE. Great guild, great people. I’d be the one spending hours on end seiging up and fully fortifying a tower only to have it lost to one group while the DB group was busy trying to hold onto a paper Bay which they seemed to believe was more important on the home map.
Of course… if you didn’t notice, that’s part of the problem right there.
Just here to say, if you think that’s a problem don’t talk to anyone from Boston about their automobile, or Canada concerning their footwear. And it will drive you mad to try to talk to someone in Britain . . .
People like to toss out this argument a lot, but it frankly misses the point. The main reason why is because inflection is not the same as pronunciation. While the Queen’s English and American English differ to some extent, the vast majority of words are pronounced the same way using the same exact grammar rules; it’s only the speaker’s inflection that differs due to regional variation in accents.
Well, when the accent on a Bostonian “car” loses the R sound and the C becomes a hard K? It does make a difference, much like accents in the Southern US tend to blur words together sometimes into other things. And that’s without visiting South Carolina and some of the accents there . . .
No, it doesn’t fully excuse “gall-em” versus “goh-lem” (not using the long O), but if I can run into people continuously correcting my spelling with “colour” then I can make this argument.
I’ve heard that thing covering a house called a roof with a long ‘oo’ sound, and I’ve heard it pronounced like “ruff”, depends where you are. I’ve lived in at least a dozen states across the U.S., coast to coast to coast and heard more accents than you’d believe. “Gall-em” vs. “Goh-lem” can very easily be written off as local accents.

…we don’t?
No… please… don’t make me relive that. I still wake up sweating… my tower… my poor tower… PROTECT THE “V”!
Someone needs to update her Wiki page then.

No, please! This is supposed to be a happy occasion! Let’s not bicker and argue about who killed who … We are here today to witness the union of three young servers in the Jedful bond of the holy warfare. Unfortunately, one of them, Maguuma, has just fallen to his death.
It’s more about 2 thieves attempting to gank something, but being so bad they can’t finish the job. Then when it isn’t a 2v1 anymore they run.
Pretty typical mentality on JQ. If you want to see more of these baddies in action, just log in to any BL and look for a JQ tag.
I think you’re trying too hard now. It’s degrading the quality of your trolling and removing the natural feeling it once had. This forced-effort trolling really should be beneath you.
You have disappointed me and shall not receive the Volkon Seal of Approval until you clean your act up.
Funny thing is I wasn’t trying hard. I wasn’t even running food or nourishment.
You’re confusing reality with trolling which speaks volumes about your intelligence.
Neither did those guys. But you did have 25 stacks on you, that they did not.
Now THIS is what I’m talking about! No calling anyone “baddies” or the like, just a very subtle yet effective jab. THIS is what makes the forums worth reading! C’mon Furious, you can get to this level. I believe in you!
Wotah has earned the Volkon Seal of Approval. Let it be written, let it be done.
OP caused “coke out the nose” incident.
I needed that.
It is beatable by every class. Every class has a condition build/DPS build/Tanky build/Dodgy build.
They’ve stated you might need to change your build within your class
Yeah…that’s not gonna happen. If I have change my build and gear every 5 minutes, I would rather not even participate.
That’s your choice of course. I’m going to personally see if I can avoid changing more than utilities/weapon sets initially until I get notably stuck, then I’ll consider respeccing if it seems to be needed.
you posted this at 5am, and didn’t get a response for 3 hours, so you bumped your thread. It is now 8:30am… you need to give us some time to get here in the morning, lol.
I’ll alert our QA to this potential, and make sure it gets investigated. Any further information you may have will help.
You’re a game developer. You’re not allowed to go home, or sleep for that matter, unless it involves sleeping directly in front of your computer with an alarm that wakes you up every time there’s a forum demand of you.
Didn’t you see that in the job description? It’s so hard to find good help these days…
Thanks for looking into that. I haven’t come across it yet, but should be to that point soon enough.
If you’re going to rant, it needs to be multiple paragraphs if not pages long. This is merely expressing an opinion, one that I personally do not share.
Interesting enough, after work yesterday I was finding the waits were well under a minute.

Could have been 99.
I need to throw my completely unbiased recommendation that you check out JQ as well. Many great guilds and I know more necromancers would be appreciated. Lots of fun too.
Oh… and you might get talked into having an Asura alt if you don’t have an Asura yet… you’ll understand if you choose to come here.
You can sell them now… that’s free money.
I’m having a blast, great update! Lots of fun indeed. I only have one complaint…
ArenaNet… next time you promise a balloon ride, can we haz balloon ride plz? Yeah, with the zones and all that it would be difficult to pull off I’m sure, but if you could it would be nice. Even a “live cinematic” (seeing characters and events below) until the edge of the zone before the portal effect would be sweet.
Aside from that… well, the wallet isn’t the most attractive thing… the big icons are tacky looking. A simpler list would be more sufficient, or better yet, a toggle between different modes of view.
But that’s it for complaints… a couple aesthetic things. I’ve been having a blast so far, this is definitely a worthy addition to the cyclical content and I’ll enjoy it when it’s back next year.
Hate to break it to you, but your main concern is a fallacy. This is known as a “Slippery Slope” argument and it is illogical.
What other companies may have done is 100% irrelevant.
You are basically arguing that since Germany invaded Poland during WW2, Poland should be prepared to defend against an invasion from Kenya since Kenya is having a deep recession.
Because marketing in videos games is pretty much the same thing that waging world wars.
Hate to break it to you, but your main concern is a fallacy. This is known as a “Slippery Slope” argument and it is illogical.
No it isn’t.
Of course it is. You’re basing an argument on something you’ve perceived other games doing and completely in lieu of any evidence that ANet is or has ever done anything that actually remotely resembles the F2P/P2W style model.
Logical arguments are based on logic, not emotions.
Nudity in art is not the same nudity in porn.
It is really the intention of the creator. Given the stuff in Guild Wars 2 thus far, it doesn’t appear to be just art.
You’re implying something more nefarious?
Yes.
Well done, grats! Still waiting for the work day to end…
Also in Royal Terrace I get to clink glasses with classy players that want to support Guild Wars 2 rather that complain about equality and communism and the like, old sport.
Why do I have the urge to create an Asura named Mitt just to keep hanging around in that area?
Is JQ going to implode now that they’ve dropped down to T2?
I doubt it. We’re having queues now like we haven’t seen in quite some time (except for the past couple days with a six figure lead that is). It seems to have rejuvenated the community to have someone fresh to go up against. The competition has been no where near as competitive as BG & SoR, but it’s been fun. I think a lot of us are ready to get back to some competition again though, so hopefully the energy will sustain once we’re facing them again.
But that’s not how fairweathers work.
Very true indeed. Fortunately most of the fairweather crew jumped ship some time back. A lot of what we’ve seen the past month or two has been a general ennui as a result of BG/SoR/JQ week after week after week. People needed and took breaks. Now a little variety has heads popping up like a family of meercats when someone yells “Fresh bugs!”. A lot that took a few weeks off are coming back, having fun, and hopefully will continue to do so once the competition is ramped back up again.
Idk looks like fairweather to me
Dragonbrand is so used to seeing fairweathers that it’s easy to get confused these days, so you’re allowed to be wrong. No worries. The difference is that we have people who chose to stay in the Quarry finding a little renewed energy with a changing match up as opposed to those that flock from one server to another looking to be carried to the win every week.
Of course, to be perfectly fair, I need to give credit where credit is due as well, with people like Jed and the whole RATS movement bringing the server closer together through unifying efforts that are really making a difference in the overall feel of things. Combine that with the fresh faces and things are really feeling like they should in WvW.
To give people the option to pay 300 gems every two weeks for a more exclusive place to do things at? You’ll use it or you won’t. Others will or won’t. How is this an issue?
Because LA offers the same things as the Royal Terrace. Why do we have to pay to get access to content that’s free to use in the first place?
Guess what… you don’t.
You don’t have to pay a dime. Not at all. You have the option of doing so in a more exclusive place than the merchants district in L.A. Me? I’ll be sticking in L.A. personally. It’s comfortable and I like it. But if someone chooses to use the Terrace instead, more power to them and may they find the relative peace worth the investment.
Now… here’s something you didn’t think about. Actually I’m the only person outside ArenaNet to think of this. (Prior statement cannot be verified, so hush.) When culling is removed L.A. is going to be chaotic. You’re going to see EVERYONE. I think, in that case, it may be worth considering a more quite place to chill, craft a bit, get things done, for some at least. When culling is gone in L.A. it may very well be worth spending the gold (or cash) for the gems for a little elbow room.

cesmode… after that, don’t you think you’ve deserved a bit of a break? We’re still having to deal with a new pirate faction and things less dramatic than the Elder Dragons, but they’re still there, we know they’re still there, and they know we know they’re still there, so enjoy a bit of less-dramatic “down time”.
But stay frosty… the threats are still out there.
… Putting the “bot” in booty.

OK… this demands a screenshot for those of us stuck at work.
How’s the wait, how are the fights? People stuck at work want to know!
I hope you didn’t delete them all, because you can now sell them to the vendor apparently.
I have two and a half stacks of these support tickets I’m refusing to turn in on principal. …
Yeah, I forgot to turn them in too, thought we had more time. My own fault for not paying attention to the calendar.
You know… watching other people fail (I mean succeed… yeah, succeed) will help pass what time there is in queue. Could be rather entertaining.
This entire thing is so very disappointing…
Yup any excitement I had for it (and the Account Wallet) is now gone. Pretty much disappointment and hatred only remain.
Eh, horsepoop. The fact that people are worried about being able to get in and play it indicates that the excitement level is high. I think we should reserve judgement for a day or two, see how it plays out, then have the ability to state our opinions based on actual fact.
