I only have one problem with the mounts.

They need feathers. Raptors are known to have been feathered.

Being my only complaint, I’d say they pretty much nailed the raptors quite well.

I somehow suspect that this is only a small sample of the bounties we’ll see. So far I like them, they have good potential.

People want Tengu, people want more mounts… there you go, Tengu mounts!

Found a legendary bounty on the board, grabbed it, turned out to be some spiky quaggan looking thing. Good, fun fight, very active, nice rewards. I can see bounties being a nice part of the game.

A lot of you won’t find this useful, but awhile back there was a game (forget which one) which gave me motion sickness. I kid you not, dramamine for a few times playing while the brain adjusts and then I was fine after that. It may be worth a try. I know, it sounds wrong medicating for a game, but it did work.

Has there been any chatter on craftable mounts/skins? Way WAY back when I played WoW my favorite land mount was a motorcycle that I (think) I crafted (it’s been awhile). The thought of a couple craftable mounts (with specific traits) is appealing.

Not really. Back in the GW1, anyone could follow another player around on any map, and even through a portal (though after that, they’d have to do the follow command again). Otherwise, a single person could theoretically have led around dozens of people (and apparently did).

In a nutshell, you’d target the person in front of you and /follow. Someone would /follow you, someone else them, etc. Instant conga line.

No, thats not all it removed. It removed the need to be in the tower as well. It removed all association to the actual act of upgrading. Which is what is so bad. I dont think anyone will miss dumping gold in the upgrades, but they will miss upgrading.

I disagree that you don’t need to be in a tower if you want to hold it. You still need eyes present, you still need to build and maintain the siege. There’s more to defense than upgrades (but they help).

It’s not because you hate “baby sitting” tower that no one like this… And the auto upgrade just killed the game style for many scouts…

If you’re talking about scouts in the baby-sitting sense that I was (watching the tower, keeping upgrades rolling, reporting incoming, keeping siege up, etc) then I’d have to disagree. If you’re talking about offensive scouting, going and peeking at a tower to see where the upgrades are… um… ok, I have a difficult time seeing how that’s a great loss, but that could only be because I’ve never had that role.

Although I think 278 would have been perfect. People would be so confused about the unusual number that they’d forget to complain for a while.

Just finally finished the personal story stuff in time for HoT, watching the ending scenes where the fleet <insert spoiler here> with my son (12) looking over my shoulder. Suddenly he says “This would make a great anime.”

I kind of agree with him… done right you have many elements for a good anime… magic and fighting, strange creatures, epic tales, adventure, skimpy outfits… Hell, I’d watch it.

The only proper nerf is to say if you’re bleeding and burning at the same time the blood puts the fire out but the smell of charred flesh summons a pack of rabid honey badgers to attack you incessantly which inflict poison and more bleeding.

I have to suspect that these runes may turn out to be valuable once HoT is released with the significant expansion of vertical space. I imagine that they were intended to stack so that folks who were willing to take the performance hit would be able to survive some really nasty falls we are about to see.

Horse dung. While it’s true that the price for me is the same as for a new players, this doesn’t mean that I’m paying for the core again. It means, as has been explained, that they’re getting the core, a necessary item in order to play the expansion, for free in addition to the expansion. The expansion price was established before ANet chose to make it easier for new players to get up to speed by throwing in the core for them with the expansion. They are giving away the core to the new players that buy the expansion. Smart business move in my opinion. They’re taking nothing from me.

Ah, the old “US vs THEM” mentality. You do have another option. Delete your current account in it’s entirety. Buy the expansion with the added core and you’ll be starting at the exact same place as the new players you so envy.

What I’m surprised on is that one of the selling points of GW2 before it came out was that the expansions were supposed to be free. Guess that was a bit of miscommunication with Gamestop, Bestbuy, and Target.

When the game was released there never was even any certainty whether or not they’d release an expansion let alone what the price would be for them.

Then you should work with support and get that error figured out. If for some reason you ever need a refund you won’t get it from Amazon, but ANet is surprisingly nice in that regards. They’ll take care of you. Buying from a third party has a very real risk of biting you in the buttocks.

How exactly am I losing money? Where is there anything even resembling a coherent logical thought in your argument? Are you seriously equating someone else getting more than I’m getting so that they’ll be able to access the expansion they paid for with me somehow losing money? Can you not see the ridiculousness of that argument?

I – lose – nothing.

Someone else getting a necessity to access what I’ll be able to access since I already have that necessity is not a loss for me, it’s a gain for someone else. A gain that in no way is detrimental to my personal experience. If they don’t get the core, they can’t play the game. This necessary gain for them does NOT equate to a loss for me.

It’s simple logic. Try and grasp it.

Keep in mind though that by accepting inflated prices, you give Anet reason to keep up this behavior. You as a consumer could also be encouraging the opposite.

That’s just it. I don’t see these prices as “inflated”. I also don’t only look at the price as an isolated, stand alone thing. I look at the whole package, cost per unit time and all that.

If you’re expecting a WoW style tank then you’re going to be sorely disappointed. A taunt, for example from what I’ve seen online is what, 2 seconds or so? It’s not a “grab and hold” skill but instead a “take the pressure off someone in trouble for a bit” skill. “Tank” probably isn’t the right word to use.

Not knowing the full content, does not mean we don’t know the overall size of the expansion. You are not getting a full game, but you ARE paying for one.

I see it as paying for an expansion, and paying a lot less than expansions from other games I played in the past. Wrath of the Lich King, for example, was full-game priced iirc and also had basically a $180 per year access fee just to play the game I paid for. Not only that, they trickled out the content over the course of many months, so the Lich King himself wasn’t available until half a year or so until after the expansion went live. So comparable or less content on release yet an additional access fee of $180 per year for WotLK, or $50 for the expansion with more than enough content to satisfy me, plus the knowledge that things like Living Story as well as other content additions will be an ongoing process…
