Attack, capture, destroy… there’s nothing in the achievements at all for the defenders. Where’s the love for the guy that babysits a tower for notable periods of time, fighting off attacks and keeping it upgraded and the siege refreshed for the server?
Does anyone else think there should at least be achievements for “x defended”? Camps, towers, keeps defended… it feels like a glaring oversight.
Anyone else picture an overly-excited camel walking around yelling “Patch Dayyyyy! Yeah!”
I hope there’s someone looking into where exactly these Omegas are coming from. It’s hard to imagine someone spending all day at the Forge making them to sell them that cheaply. I suspect something nefarious.
^ I think people are talking about PVE and dungeon
Ah, yes, those people that scream for nerfing every time something kills them because the obvious problem is that the mobs/boss/etc hits too hard.
People in ’zerkers humor me to no end. They provide so many loot bags in WvW.
Those are mammals. Quaggans are fish.
Like this.
That looks like a decapitated Squidward.
VOLKON,
You clearly have no idea how a combo field works.
So here is a link for you to read how they work – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/ComboI haven’t played a MMO where the one who triggers and the one who casts were always treated equally.
One of them was always more buffed than the other
You’re babbling on now with no idea what you’re babbling about. I notice you’ve avoided completely things like Feedback and Confusion which require enemy actions to cause damage. I’m not sure what you’re going on about regarding combo fields. They’re not buffs. A ranger firing through a fire field doesn’t find he’s been buffed, he instead finds his shots doing fire damage as well. Now, there are other situations where you do stack might, for example, on a group. Those examples would be character buffs, but it’s pretty clear that’s not what I’m talking about.
There’s far more going on than a simple “I buffed you” scenario.
Anything you bring to counter the zerg they can bring to counter your counter zerg more effectively.
Combo field will work the same way if some buff is cast only on one character. So the one who has the buff or the combo field his dmg will be increased.
Combo field is not a new concept. It is in old MMOs presented too just not as combo field but as a buff cast on single target.
I don’t understand what is confusing here. It’s quite simple.
So you’d basically screw everyone that plays their share of support by not giving them credit for the fields they put down? What about the mesmer with the feedback bubble that happens to do a ton of damage to the enemy but only because he caught them off guard and got them to fire into/through it? This isn’t some lesser trinity-based combat where your dps characters only do dps (and hopefully avoid standing in fire). That’s why a damage meter won’t work. If all you’re doing is damage, you’re doing it wrong.
Colin, I know this idea has been shot down repeatedly, but I sincerely believe the entire “alt issue” would be fixed by simply having WXP be account wide. Individual characters can have their own sets of skills to allocate, but account wide WXP would actually wind up encouraging alts to be played instead of discouraging them. I hope there’s a chance for someone to at least give this idea another round of consideration.
Dat hate on T1 is intriguing.
Indeed. It stands out quite impressively, does it not?
A damage/dps meter would be absolutely worthless in this game due to all the nuances of the combat system. For example, if an elementalist drops a fire field between you and the enemy they won’t be doing any damage. However if you fire through it and add fire damage to your attack that’s added damage caused by two different people interacting well together. Who gets credit for what then? Or what about damage caused by enemy actions, such as firing into a feedback bubble, moving with torment, or attacking with confusion? How about keeping track of healing done because of a stomp in a water field? How about a situation where, on my mesmer, I transfer conditions from myself to an enemy and steal their boons?
A damage/dps meter only is capable of showing directly applied damage to a target, and it at best can only show what you do in an ideal situation where the target stands there and lets you hit it. It’s absolutely worthless at showing what happens in an actual combat situation, especially when you consider utility skills and the effects they have. You’ll have people that look great pounding on a dummy that are relatively worthless in a fight because, well, all they can do well is pound on a dummy.
Unlike Pandora’s Box, this one is best left shut for once opened and all the bad is let out there’s no hope remaining.
mad king thorn is my dad and im sick of his favoritism of his other cool son. he can just go kitten off… lol just had too ive been saying mad king is my dad since the first halloween in gw1
Well, if you hadn’t chosen the name of “Rainbow Fluffy Bunny Prince”…
Hmm… I can’t find the part where it says the Mad King won’t make an appearance, especially when you consider there will be one more update before Halloween.
20 slot Halloween bucket.
That’ll do.
because fractals dont give you easy access to 20 slot bags right?
Not Halloween ones, no.
I like Halloween. I grew up in and around Salem, Mass.
20 slot Halloween bucket.
That’ll do.
I dunno… I had some interesting fun with Feedback in there.
Knockbacks work to keep the elementals away as well.
If you take to long to kill them, the room fills with gas and you can’t really do anything.
Only Solution?
…
Do it right.
The ooze is your friend (even though he doesn’t realize it).
OK, here’s what happened… we got to the end boss, blew the generators and got the boss down to a speck of red. We wound up, due to our first run (I hope) mostly dead (3 of us) with the other two downed. The downed players managed to get that final sliver of health off the boss. We got the achievement for the kill but the fight never ended and there was no loot or chests of any type. Anyone else finding issues with killing the final boss and no loot appearing / the fight not ending?
What would be interesting is if mesmers had a mantra that, when popped un-stealthed stealthed foes within a certain radius.
If the buff only provides something passive, where’s the drive to make sure the other guys don’t have it? No one will care, very few people will try to take or retake points and nothing will have changed, except the quaggans… the quaggans will be gone.
Meh… I play a mesmer. I just give him his condition stacks back.
We don’t need more time on the timer. We need more time to learn the fight, that’s all.
Mods, plz merge with Bloodlust thread. Thx.
Why merge a thread complaining about ACs with the Bloodlust thread?
That’s just weird.
I see. So it was the 2 orbs buffed that had a +100 stats with 3 carts that made it impossible to break through.
Nah. I’ve seen defenders stop larger forces before the change as well. The second wave was thirty or so charging in against fifteen guys with three ACs. Not hard to see them dying in that situation.
There hasn’t been a WvW update yet that hasn’t had it’s share of detractors and prognostications of gloom, doom and the end of the game. Same thing will happen here that happened with each and every one of those… people will adapt, more likely than not the warnings will prove to be exaggerated at best and something new will be released that will be the greatest threat to WvW ever.
I asked for it, and had a blast wiping on Tequatl all afternoon.
Really? that’s awesome. I personally think wiping on something all afternoon and only getting it to maybe 70% health is about as fun as punching myself in the balls with a knife. But hey to each their own I guess.
If you’re punching anything with a knife you’re doing it wrong.
Happy Birthday Tequatl!
-_- You have a problem reading what I just wrote…?
The way you wrote it, yes. Your refusal to clarify isn’t helping either.
They (about 10 enemies using 3 arrow carts with possibly max traits in arrow carts) started carting us (damaging us with their AOEs and the super carts) and when I got to the top of the staircase (after using a few water fields and even warbanners, yes, there are glass cannons amongst the 30 of us), I had approximately 4k HP left and was finally downed there.
The tougher professions who had 30 k or high heal (guardians) managed to make it to the top of the lord, but was ultimately no match for the arrow carts and streaming enemy players.
Ah, that clarifies it. So you’re saying that around ten people in a defensive position with superior siege (three ACs, designed to be anti-personnel) and time to use it were able to fend off thirty or so attackers.
I have to admit… I don’t see a problem here.

Volkon played for a bit on a server that didn’t have 100% coverage, he left to go back to JQ.
He didn’t like the coverage holes.
You can see his perspective from that set of moves.
It wasn’t the coverage… even JQ has coverage holes. It was the fact that aside from FIRE no one there had a clue on how to win.
Does anyone else realize that we’re only taking about a perfect damage increase potential of only a couple percent here? Far less than a single weapon hit and easily mitigated through normal means? It’s less than it was going from exotic to ascended items.
Nope. Not even close. It’s like everyone on the opposing side suddenly has the stats of more than 3 exotic celestial chest pieces( +45 to each stat per piece), minus the additional crit damage.
Think about that. Do you not bother repairing when you have a broken piece of armor? Good god no.
Every orb that your opponent has that you don’t roughly like one of YOUR pieces of exotic armor is broken.
Should I tell you tales of drunk, naked WvW nights and the bodies we’ve left in our wake?
They started carting us when we got the gate down to 10% and we started pvdooring, and when I reached the top of the staircase I had 4k HP left. That was arrow carting from 10% gate all the way to the top of the staircase. Judging from your zealous defence, you must be one of them arrow cart investors where you max out the skill set and laugh out loud when bags surround you.
PS: I especially love the zoom hack players use.
So were you the group of ten or the group of thirty, and were the rest of the enemy attacking you as well?
Does anyone else realize that we’re only taking about a perfect damage increase potential of only a couple percent here? Far less than a single weapon hit and easily mitigated through normal means? It’s less than it was going from exotic to ascended items.
1 orb for me instead of 1 orb against me is the difference between me soloing an unupgraded camp without even using my heal and me not only needing my heal, but also my supply crate.
thats HUGE. and its only the effect of 1 orb. 3 is plain ridiculous.
Hmm… I’m going to have to play with the math. I’m sensing large levels of exaggeration here.
People still use glass cannon builds in WvW?
I have full Melandru set with 3139 armor and 24k HP. You tell me that’s a glass cannon?
Yeaaahhhh… ‘k… you see… something isn’t passing the sniff test here. I’m guessing you were with the 30 man group against what you claim were ten people, seven of which did absolutely nothing but watch three guys on ACs burn you down after you broke through the gate and were charging in?
So if you were in such a hurry to break in you must have put up orange swords signaling you were there in number, probably had what, three, four or five rams going… yet it was a surprise attack… yeah, something definitely isn’t passing the sniff test here.
If you were attacking with a force of ten vs thirty… well, gee… it must have been the arrow carts that did you in.
People still use glass cannon builds in WvW?
So in light of the Bloodlust rage, has anyone else noticed that you can’t treb bay from garrison anymore thanks to the randomly placed make shift cliff there?
Yes I did test this last night, and in the correct spot you can hit both bay and the sw tower, making it possible to take 2 places at once.
In addition you can also treb garrison watergate from the ruin near garrison on east side.
Not from Garrison, no. However there are indeed a lot more interesting places out there now to put up siege.

Try going there VOLKON and tell me how many matches are actually balanced so a server can’t afford having too much man power at orbs: http://mos.millenium.org/na/
Six.
What the blazes are you smoking?
2 matches are reasonably balanced.
6 matches are blowouts.75% of matches are freaking gangrape. It’s hard to have a conversation when someone won’t admit that the sky is blue.
At the point in time when I looked (not too long ago), six matches had relatively close PPTs.
“The stat bonus doesn’t really seem to be much of a factor… I’ve seen it flipping between servers far to rapidly to really decide the match.”
Again, this is coming from a (balanced) T1 server. I wish a few devs would try WvW’ing on a server that is losing significantly. Try starting at +35 PPT every prime time and see if you can continue trying.
That is true, I am coming from the T1 perspective. But all it takes is a small havoc squad to deny anyone the buff for any period of time. Now, if your server simply doesn’t have the manpower to compete at all then in all actuality it’s not the buffs that are the issue.

The stat bonus doesn’t really seem to be much of a factor… I’ve seen it flipping between servers far to rapidly to really decide the match. It’s nice when you have it for a few minutes, then it’s gone…
Keep in mind also… a server that spends too much manpower trying to keep the Bloodlust won’t be defending their structures.
for a 15 minute combat I find it enough with the chance to loot an ascended weapon
Aren’t the skins unique to Tequatl only? I think that adds quite a bit to it there.
This is what we asked for.
I never asked for this.
ANet was kind enough to make it optional.
Are you all seriously? I see a lot of people complaining about how GW is a casual game that don’t have any hard content, and when Anet launch something hard, a trully DRAGON BOSS fight everyone come here to cry! What the ….? Come on, did you really expected that everyone would beat Tequatl in the first try? Please, don’t be like that.
No one expected to kill him first try. Getting him only to 90% is pathetic.
The reason he was only getting to 90% or so was the fact that turret people weren’t removing the stacks. We had four or five bone walls come up at least.
JQ failed as well, about 90% or so. Going to take some getting used to. People on turrets need to learn to turret the new way.
It’s another Tequatl sunrise
Flyin’ slowly ‘cross the sky, said goodbye
He was just a hired dragon
Workin’ on the frogs he planned to fry
The days go by
Ev’ry night when the sun goes down
Somethin’ in the water outside town
Soon to be burnin’ down
She wasn’t just another dragon
Tequatl couldn’t keep from comin’ on
It’s been so long
Oh, and it’s a hollow feelin’ when
It comes down to eatin’ friends
It never ends
Throw another shot of poison
Wonder why the lady dragons never come
You just get numb
It’s another Tequatl sunrise, this old world
still looks the same,
Until today, mm…
