Fractal levels above 30 to be reset?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

VOLKON.1290

Why didn’t they just open up 50+ with the new challenges, instead of needlessly deleting the only meaningful character progression that exists above level 80? To people saying getting above 50 is an exploit – I’m sure that if it was a serious issue it wouldn’t have taken them nearly a year to simply make it impossible to open higher than a 49.

If someone was at 50, wasn’t their progression done? There’s no more “up” after that, isn’t that true?

So isn’t this going from “no more progression” to “progression with added challenges”?

Seeing that much ppl got to 50 on an exploitation that was fixed i think its ok to drop it down i am not sure about all the way to 30 but its still needed if your going to changes things up.

what exploits tell me 1 I used rez orbs at maw there was no post anyhwhere that this is en exploit so get over it I’m just a skilled palyer used gamemechanics to achievs somthing you didn’t now you jalous and anet seems to be with the 3 mio that can’t achiev it isntead of the 100 that can!

Good job, you were definitely skilled at the old system. I acknowledge that, well done indeed. Now let’s see how you do with the new system that is replacing the old system.

Well you definatly deserve a Legendary with old particel effects no go farm a new one for the new Effects and stats changes!

Well, I don’t have a legendary yet, however thank you for your kind words suggesting that I deserve one. It’s appreciated. Eventually I’ll get one I hope, and yes it’ll be with the new effects and stats that reflect Ascended weapons because that will be what’s in the game when I do. I don’t see the problem with this.

Same top players will be top in the new system too, if they don’t quit because they were stolen their hard work. If you think otherwise you are just naive. There is a reason 90% of casual pve community uses guides made by select few.

If they’ll be top in the new system then that makes the whole complaints thing seem a bit silly, no?

Agree on pvp rank comparison, heck, reset everyone to 30 too see how the community likes the game then.

^ That.

same with legendaries I mean common they’re to much Money based atm When will ppl get that they are currently taking away somthing from me I have worked for in this game. So why should I get over it? it’s just unfair as a fact!

You do realize all that’s being taken away is a number obtained (through whatever means) in a Fractals system that will no longer exist, right? It’s no longer relevant to the new system.

You have not earned level 80 under the new challenges and new Fractals.

You have not earned new legendaries with the new particel effect and new precursor crafting so they should delete it.

Eh… precursors still drop. They’re adding additional ways to get them. Fractals above level 30 are being changed to add new challenges, and as a whole there will be three new Fractals in addition. This is a reset on things above level 30.

If the reset the WxP to some lower value yet made it account bound? There would be some complaints, true, but there would also be much rejoicing. (30 isn’t a viable number, some people have levels in the multiple hundreds, even four digits.)

If you remember not to remove topics just because they give negative Feedback.

Kthanks.

As long as it is respectful and doesn’t include violations of the Forum Code of Conduct, it won’t be removed.

Here you go respectfull Version:

Hi out there,

I have invested lot of Money for : Rez orbs , Diffrent Armors and repair canisters to get to fractals scale 81 back in 2012

I really enjoyed the time playing altough rewards were bad we we’re proud beeing the first ones posting in official Forums that scale 80 might be a cap. Even without receving an answer from dev’s some months later at least the even Levels were hardcapped at 50. I was still able to do some lvl 80 runs just for fun. We were blamed several times to be exploiter cause we bought rez orbs to survive maw.

I really waited a year now patiently for a fractals update so I can Play scale 80 again or might can climb up higher than 80 ( sicne I can enter 81 but It will port me to 80) I was and am proud that we could finish your so called hardest Content as the first Group I know of. Now I see the update comming and taking away all the hard work I have done to get that high in just a few lines of update notes.

If I would have just farmed after lvl 30 instead of progressing I would have made Money instead of spending Money on rez orbs armors repair cannisters, and could have made about 3-5 Legendaries back than. I did choose to Play the game the way I enjoyed it still I think you should: NEVER EVER TAKE AWAY PROGRESS PLAYER MADE IN A GAME, it would hurt me much less if you take me away a legendary than my lvl 81 …(I don’t have a legendary ) but deleting my Progress worth about 3-5 legendaries is like deleting legendaries from ppl that have them.

So please explain to me why would you do this? take me out of the leaderboards I’m fine. But don’t take away a Thing that I have spent loads of Money and time. I asked in 10 months ago in a post if scale 80 is the cap what’s the Thing there was never ever an answer to this. I asked really nicly if it is the cap and that things starting to bug on higher scales. I don’t get an answer.

And now I am comparing deleting my personal reward lvl to deleting legendaries witch is for me about the effort you put in to get there finding out every mechanics ect… If I make a thread about it in discussion it get deleted it wasn’t offensive I just asked what ppl think if they’re legendary would be deleted for me it feels like you took away just about the effort of 3 of em so it seems legit to ask.

The Main Point is: HOW CAN I EVER TRUST AGAIN A GAME THAT TAKES AWAY THINGS I HAVE ACCOMPLISHED?

so if I go again fractals what proof do I have you don’t do it again if I do craft a legendary what proof I have that you don’t just delete it in a year cause you realize that legendaries are tooo moneybased?

You have not earned level 80 under the new challenges and new Fractals.

I think that setting fractal levels back to 30 was most likely the right decision. However, I do also think that players who has progressed passed 30 should be recompensed in some meaningful form.

Compensated… for what exactly? Doing Fractals? They’ve already been compensated with the greater rewards available for the levels they were at. Now the reward system and the challenges are being changed quite a bit, so instead of knocking everyone back to level one they’re rewarding everyone above level 30 in there by not making them have to do the first thirty levels worth of Fractals again as well. Anyone below 30 still has to do those levels to catch up.

You clearly never done higher level fractals. The rewards don’t get any better no matter what the level. You get the same drop quality at level 1 and 79. Skins still had a bad drop rate at 48.

Above what level?

Still doesn’t answer the question… compensated for what? Time? OK, you get the equivalent number of hours for free on your account. Beyond that… what? No one has yet gotten above level 30 with the new challenges in place so no one has earned anything above and beyond level 30.

Fractal Progression Changes: The difficulty curve in fractals levels 1-30 is being adjusted, and fractals beyond level 30 will have new, special challenges. Every fractal players enter with a fractal level above 30 will have a special Mistlock Instability which will add new difficulties to that level or change how it is played.

Basically, anyone with levels beyond 30 didn’t get them using the soon to be newly added challenges. Yes, a lot of people simply kicked the Fractal’s buttocks up to this point, but now the training wheels come off. Surely those currently above level 30 are good enough to handle these new challenges and outpace the rest of us right back up there again, yes?

You’re losing the “credit” for doing them above 30 because they’re changing above 30. The past no longer applies.

There are some things I’ve definitely noticed about retaliation that should be (in my opinion) changed. Basically, it does damage to you even when you’re not doing damage. For example… Feedback bubble. The last thing I would expect is to take damage for putting up a Feedback bubble because someone with ret is shooting themselves due to reflect. Clones and phantasms… when they do damage I seem to take retaliation damage. I’m sure there are other strange scenarios regarding this that others have seen on other professions.

GW2 is masturbation without the pay-off at the end. Why log in to do the same thing day in and day out without anything new or exciting or any thing nice to work towards.

Because you choose to not work towards anything. I choose to work towards WvW wins, armor sets and new and unique looks, achievements, my ascended great sword (eventually), possibly a Legendary, etc. and with Living Story going on it’s really becoming quite rare to log in and only do the same thing over and over again.

You are making the conscious choice to not work towards the many things available in the game to work towards.

About WxP being alt-friendly - what about...

in WvW

Posted by: VOLKON.1290

VOLKON.1290

Just a hypothetical that fell into my brain… for WXP being alt friendly (and assuming it’ll never become account-wide), what would you all think of the possibility that when your character gains WXP all of your alts gain a percentage of that WXP as well? Your character in WvW gains 100 WXP and each alt gains 25, 50, whatever as a percentage?

Newly created characters would still start out with none, but they’d be able to get it while you play others. This way someone can’t create a brand new character with maxed abilities. It’s alt friendly, but it also means to get max benefits for characters you actually need to be playing those characters.

I think this would be a nice middle ground to account bound vs character only. Thoughts?

Not necessarily. Last month I simply spent less in the cash shop. No particular reason, I just did. Some future month I’ll likely spend more.

LOL unlike the OP, I actually looking forward to a sub based MMO. Why? you may asked. It is because like a lot of people I am sick of all the so called free to play MMO. I always end up spending more money than I am on a sub based MMO. Also I am sick of the RNG and P2W rubbish.

As far as GW2 goes, it is fairly good value for money. Sadly, maybe because it has no sub, Anet don’t seem to be able to afford to make an expansion like a sub based MMO lile WoW which has just announce yet another expansion. Something that no doubt will help them to bring back a lot of old players and new alike.

As far as B2P, I think only Ever Quest Next is following that model. Every other new MMOs are either sub or f2p.

I’d rather pay monthly for a really good game aswell.

I’ll say this… after GW2, it had better be one hell of a game to come out to convince me to cough up a subscription. I’m going to want a static-quest hub free world, amazing combat, continual content updates, back rubs, free sandwiches coming out of my computer, you name it. I don’t see how anyone now can compete with ArenaNet for quality and quantity to such a greater degree that a subscription could be considered warranted.

You dumped 3000 into the market you said, so it’s not unreasonable to expect that a lot more were also dumped into the market in the meantime. You’re one person out of the entire population after all. Happened to me in TF2 of all places. GW2 combat has spoiled me.

Yes. I’ve been playing more and more other games as the grind pushes me more and more away. I have such a hard time not being able to dodge. I keep hitting it and nothing happens. x]

The grind will only push you away if you let it. I’m working on an ascended greatsword for my mesmer, but I’m also completely taking my time doing it. There’s no rush… the boost in stats is marginal enough that it’s not a necessity for me. So steady as she goes and when I finally do get weaponsmith to 500 that’ll be a nice thing, but nothing I’m going to stress or sweat over. There’s plenty of good WvW lovin’ to be had regardless.

Box sales are going to take a huge hit in the coming months and possibly well into the first half of next year due to the release of Ps4 and Xbox 1. So don’t expect anything more than what we are currently getting here with Gw2.

That’s unlikely. At this stage the majority of income is more likely from the cash shop than box sales, and of the box sales there’s still a significant percent of people that are PC -or- console as opposed to both. Impacts on box sales from those new mediums should be small.

I would like to add that one problem with having too many account-bound crafting material is that some of these crafting materials are tied to specific places in the game. So if you don’t like to play that specific place then that’s too bad, you can never get your maxed out ascended back items or something. This runs totally against what ArenaNet promised. What happened to “It’s extremely important that we stay true to our philosophy that you should be able to play Guild Wars 2 the way you want to play the game in order to reach the most powerful rewards.”

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/colin-johanson-on-guild-wars-2-in-the-months-ahead/

It seems like we are “forced” to play certain content in order to reach the most powerful reward instead.

Four words.

You’re doing it wrong.

If there’s a zone you like, stick to that zone and gather the mats there. Ascended gear requires a wide swath of materials, so the ones you’re gathering are likely in demand. Sell the excess on the TP and buy the ones you need but aren’t farming. Pretty simple really. You’re not forced to go anywhere you don’t want to go for materials.

I can understand the temp content issue, but the zerg complaints confuse me?

What exactly do players expect when you remove hard trinity from game play? This is the result of not having a hard(classic) trinity in a MMO.

How does that relate to zerg content?
Anet could always make another permanent instance (and Molten Facility showed that they can add some really entertaining content there) with arah-level rewards (and lupi-level boss) so that people could add some variety to their daily dungeon runs.
But instead we get this stupid zergfest with soloable chambers.
I mean it’s an MMO, I want party content. If I wanted to do staff solo there’s plenty of that in single layer games.
At least Teq update required cooperation and was fun for a while, made me work with a lot of people from big guilds on my server etc.
Compared to that, Tower is just stupid and uninvolving.

You do realize that you can take a party into the chambers and they scale up, yes? They give people solo as an option, not as a requirement.

Not really. If a trinity were added all you’d have is someone “tank” first then the zerg would hit it. The reality is that it’s difficult to scale things properly from a small number of people to a zerg. Now, if enemies had skills that did increasing damage based on the number of players within a certain radius (to the point that over a certain number you’re nearly assured of a one-shot of everyone in the radius) you’d see the zergs break up in a hurry.

But keep in mind… right now you see a zerg of say 50 people. With a similar world cursed with the trinity you’d see a zerg of one healer, one tank and 48 dps.

No one wants ascended armor.

Hello, my name is No one.

Why do you want this?

Having a long term goal for upgrading gear yet being able to do so at my own pace without hurting my capabilities in the game? Why wouldn’t I want this?

That did not really answer my question, I see no good reason to put ascended armour in the game. So why should people want this. Beyond the obvious “something to do” part.

Of course it answered the question. Well… answered the question with a question. But that’s the gist of it… it adds a slightly higher tier of armor that isn’t game-breaking or required to get to be competitive and serves as a longer term goal for characters. It’s a tier I can work for and take my time acquiring. Ascended will be the final tier for quite some time, hopefully forever, so it should be a notable time sink and long range goal. Exotics… characters these days are practically born with them. Once you hit 80 (especially on an alt) you’re more likely than not to be fully exotic the same day, a few days at most depending on resources. So I welcome our ascended overlords as I walk the slow, casual path to obtain that status myself while still enjoying the WvW and living story aspects of the game.

Sorry, I’m all for a system that supports all modes of play, but while it is possible to do well in other types of gear and to build characters around other modes of play DPS is still king.

Well, that’s love and all. While all the “kings” are waypointing back to the start of the tower the rest of us that actually use the full aspects of the combat system will be waiting for you at the top.

DPS was never king in GW2. Content was too simplified. Fortunately we’re seeing things refreshingly shift back to fight and content that is reinforcing combat the way it was intended in GW2.

I think it’s more based on Lord of the Rings, and this is only the first of two towers.

You know, you can kill everything in the tower with full zerker too. You just need to ‘’learn to dodge’‘. Would be fun when they would release a dungeon with boss timers so you actually need to run dps specced.
Until they do that, I don’t think I’ll enjoy PvE in this game a lot…

Ugh… a dps race type of boss would be horrible for this game. It would only reinforce the fallacy that dps trumps all in GW2. I like that they’re working to break that bad habit that lesser MMOs have cursed upon so many.

Why?
The whole game is already based around ’’dps’’, especially PvE.
The real ‘’pve pro’s’’ only run in full zerker to finish everything as quickly as possible. Wouldn’t blame them tbh, getting rewards the fastest way is pretty much the only thing that keeps pve interesting in this game, the combat itself is just horribly motivated to make a macro to spam 1, move with 1 hand and kitten with the other one. That’s about the skill you need to play PvE in GW2.
The only way to fix that is to put a time limit on bosses so people actually start figuring out what else there is besides #1 spam and troll defensive builds.

So yeah, I don’t really see your point.

The whole game? No, no it isn’t. As a matter of fact, berserker groups are the largest suppliers of income in WvW. Bags galore and they shatter like phantasms on a sunny winters day. Now, perhaps a lot of the simpler areas in PvE are fine with the disillusioned zerker crowd, but it’s time they took off the training wheels and learned to actually use the rest of the skill bar, gear options and trait options that are in the game for a reason.

‘’berseker groups’’, as in raids or blobs is probably as popular as the roaming section in this game is. And well, i can tell you, the majority of the roamers runs quite dps based specs.

And for the $96,000.00 question… So?

So, you’re comparing PvE with WvW and you still haven’t replied to my question:

Ugh… a dps race type of boss would be horrible for this game.

I already answered that. It reinforces the fallacy that the combat system in this game is purely dps based. Newer players to GW2 as a result learn to play poorly and when faced with the more complicated aspects of the game, be it WvW or dungeons and towers with more complicated mechanics, wind up liabilities. They become the inflexible yet loud few that yell on the forums about how something is too hard to complete (hits too hard, too many conditions, etc.) and scream for nerfs to content that is perfectly fine and already quite well balanced around a combat system designed to utilize a combination of damage, control and support skills.

I wasn’t able to solo it on my first attempt, so I went back out to find a partner. That person had already done it 3 times, so I never saw ‘story mode’. NPCs would show up at random times though. Once I had Braham instead of Kasmeer show up.

But… that’s impossible! Braham dies years ago!
