Wow. That was fast for jq to claim 2v1
Nah, early was when we saw it right out of the gate. It was clear, blatant, and a good strategy by the two servers. What I wasn’t doing, however, was complaining. You see, I’m seeing something happening that’s slowly backfiring on the other two servers. I’m seeing players getting really, really good at fighting much larger forces and winning. You all are making us so much better at this that at some point, once the rest of the server realizes this and gets that little taste for blood back, it’s going to come around again in a most wonderful fashion. Four hours of constant double teaming out of the gate. No camps, except for flipping back north on occasion for our meager pittance of supply. The towers gone, non-stop treb fire from the NE and the NW. A freaking golem rush, three hours in, to hit a north central gate that we managed to repair, after being down, to about 25%. BG on top of the Lords room with multiple arrowcarts for so long they were having pizza and porta-potties delivered.
And we held.
This isn’t a complaint about 2v1. I’m bragging about it.
Massively good time on JQBL tonight! Full on zergs from both SoR and BG for hours on end against a paper Garrison, and she never fell. Great job by everyone involved!
Showtime.
Primarily I see FIRE (me) in NA prime, but I know there are some that extend a little outside that.
Look how cool Renny is today!
DON’T BLINK GUYS!
I thought I was large for an Asura… yikes!
Fun box of lols :P
Karp’s asura scares me!
Especially when its huge!
Thanks for the photo op last night btw. Got a couple of my own, just trying to figure out how to get them signed.

All Omen WvW’ers that wish to stay on JQ are welcome in SG, per Mance. Send me a PM here or whisper me in game.
Thanks!
I’ve tagged along with SG and Mance while they weren’t looking, any that choose to go there won’t regret it at all.
Of course, that’s true of most of the guilds as well.
Hey now. This thread is critical to the survival not only of JQ, but of WvW, ArenaNet and the human species itself! It’s not time yet to let this fall to the second page!
A sincere and humble thanks to those inquiring about JQ and what we have to offer. Please, feel free to keep tossing any questions you may have on over, we’re happy to get them.
Wow SoR, you did a bad thing… now prepared to be bored by the lack of challenge.
No, I disagree. SoR did a good thing. A wonderful thing!
We’ve seen over the past month or two now what each server can do when they’re at their best. Now imagine if we can get all three servers together, bringing their best at the same time?
It would be freakin’ amazing!
Score Update!

ADORABLE SANG
How did that Quaggan get a person on its back?
RNG from a Black Lion chest.
The quaggan lost.
See that all? We even have our T1 foes endorsing us. OK, maybe under their gruff exterior they’re really a bunch of puddytats, but that’s still evidence that if you want the experience of a quality T1 server for some amazing WvW, you can’t go wrong on JQ.
OK, maybe those other two aren’t all that bad either. Just don’t tell them I said that.
For what i seen theres more action on the thread that in game.
WvsW is soo boring at this point, theres nothing real to fight for.
Then fight for something to fight for.
Arrows lose energy from air resistance (friction) only, not gravity. High arcs have longer travel time and therefore lose more energy from friction.
Another reason not to trust internet forums for your info.
Shoot one straight up. Imagine there’s no air. What happens?
My impression:
T1 – all three severs have active EU timeslots. Prior to recent transfers, I would have ranked them BG, JQ, SoR. That’s likely changed since [IRON] transferred. Can’t go wrong with any of them.
T2 – TC has a lot of EU players. My sense is that DB and FA have fewer EU players but both benefit from spill-over (DB’s SEA group is often around during EU time, and FA has a really strong US EST group). Still, generally lots of action during EU time.
T3-T4 — I don’t believe any servers in these tiers have a lot of EU players, although I’m sure they field decent numbers during EU time from NA/SEA players.
Good luck with your choice. I can tell you EU players are welcomed with open arms on NA servers (and not just b/c of their great accents).
Hey now. When I hear a Scottish lass in TS I wouldn’t follow her to the gates of Hell, I clear the path and hold the door open for her.
Us scots are the best ofc
Im a guy but if i come on TS and talk will you hold the door open for me?
I may run like hell. Especially if you’re wearing a kilt and the rumors are true.
GW2 might be far from reality, but shooting arrows straight up in the air for them to land on their desired target (raining arrows) has been used for over 10,000 years.
Not exactly straight up…
When I was a boy learning to shoot a bow, my pops was quite explicit about NOT doing that. Arrows do require more than the force of gravity to do their work. A ballistic path (arc) does still retain some of the kinetic energy from the bow.Not some energy, its all the energy arrow has, unless target is lower then shooter. Gravity doesn’t add any energy, by shooting up you only convert Kinetic energy to Potential energy, and then back on the way down.
Just saying…The earth pulls thing to it at 32 feet per second. That is terminal velocity.
A good bow releases the arrow at around 300 fps. Air resistance and gravity do have an effect on the arrow as it travels, but my point was dropping an arrow from above don’t work so good. Neither does shooting one straight up… That and the whole arrow falling on your head thing, which dad was quite adamant about..
Actually, it’s 32 ft per second squared. Terminal velocity is determined largely by resistance and friction, not gravity alone. Shooting an arrow straight up will be less powerful than in an arc. When you shoot straight up your arrow actually looses all the energy the bow gave it and, if you did it right, comes to a complete stop before falling, in which case you only have gravity vs. air resistance affecting it. By firing in an arc you retain much of the momentum of the bow.
Force = Mass * Acceleration. Acceleration by gravity alone is much less than that provided by a bow. At least initially.
Book learnin’ in mah Dub v dub?
I like it!

“Tier 1” is considered the top tier. It’s the highest rung on the WvW ladder we’re all climbing. As a result there’s a certain zeal in T1 you may not find in other tiers. The fights tend to be larger. The chest we thump are larger and make a bigger sound. When you see a full on zerg of 100 or so of the enemy flowing across the field like a river of red the little T1 freak in us smiles and thinks “I got this.”
It’s insanely fun.
Feel bad for DB
All these mediocre transfer guilds are really reducing the servers overall skill level.
Any guilds on DB who may be willing to step it up with an amazing group in JQ are more than welcome to explore the possibilities. I had a couple hours on JQBL last night with EMP and some others, and it was an amazingly good time holding a paper garrison from numbers twice or three times our size. It’s starting to feel again like it should. I logged off smiling and would be quite happy to share that experience with other guilds looking for real T1 combat.
According to RE they were the best of EMP, and since they are rather mediocre, how would transferring to JQ help?
I won’t say if those that left are the best or not. All I know is the EMP we have still are top notch and a blast to work with.

<sniff> I love you guys. In a manly, adversarial and vengeful kind of way, of course.Don’t worry JQ, if DB ever gets to tier 1 and replaces you (they won’t but lets speak in hypotheticals), we in SoR will make sure to slap them around and show them their places.
You know you play to much when you try and rotate a screenshot thinking you’re rotating the camera.
Also when you hover over the screenshot looking for the tool tip.
I remember seeing WARD the first time… all these WARD guys just showed up on the map and I’m thinking “Who are these guys?”. As the night went on the were freaking everywhere! It was nuts! Don’t be dissing on WARD, they pull the weight of groups twice their size and some.
Doesnt mean that the rest of SOR should condone the behaviour. Its clear the Keep was captured due to use of a field of view exploit, those honest SoR who disagree with the use of this exploit should vacate it , not attempt to defend it, and allow it to be re-built before attacking it again.
I don’t blame SoR for this, but guilds that tolerate such behaviour. I’m almost sure that 99% of SoR doesn’t like hearing such things as JQ or Bg do. But there is no vote to get people from the server and I don’t know how good Anet can track such things.
And that particular guild seems to have very low standards for fair play.Well said. The other guilds can try to pressure those doing things like this, but ultimately there’s only so much they can do. It’s unfortunate that a few disreputable types can tarnish a whole server, so it does lie on the rest of us not on that server to keep that perspective. I doubt the vast majority of SoR condones this and refuse to allow myself to condemn them all for the actions of a few <insert bannable labeling word here>.
Anyone with an eyefinity setup has a hugely larger FOV and camera view than anyone else. you can easily rotate the camera so that the sides of the screen extend to a further viewable distance than other clients without it. The few times I have run with fear they make a point of pointing out that you can place an arrowcart right up against a keep or tower wall beside the gates and do this.
Im not saying some people don’t cheat but fear does not appear to need to.
I hope you’re right. I’m concerned that some people claim that as an excuse without actually having that set up, but I guess there’s no way to tell.
Jade Quarry is looking for more people with a passion for WvW and a desire to be part of the larger community. We have many excellent guilds and commanders and would definitely be able to find you a place among one of them if you wished, or you could be part of our great pug militia raising havoc across the maps.
we’re aware of it and working on a solution.
He could be eaten by a karka…
C’mon ANet, someone over there has to be looking at this idea and going “Hmmmm…”
Show me one week, any week at all, that didn’t have opportunistic 2 vs 1 play.
Yea but I’m predicting a lot more outside the normal considering the circumstances of next weeks matchup. (DB scratching at the door, BG dropping to the blue spot, JQ not losing by a lot this week and SoR wanting to hold onto its record of only ever dropping a rank position twice out of 33 match-ups).
Score update.
Yeah us in BG will be hit hard. We are the only ones with some EU presences so both you guys and IRON will be going after us. So we can not reinforce our borderland going into NA.
JQ and SoR have more east coast NA then us and there for depending on SoR’s EU attacks and how tightly we can hold our own our border will most likely be the soft border so we will be stuck in a 2v1 after all we are the more vulnerable server.
That is my prediction. Now before the blowhard come in to pick a fight about 2v1. This is what i would take advantage off and i know how both JQ and SoR works as servers.
Don’t even try to tell me you all won’t be able to handle the pressure. You didn’t get to T1 by caving in at the first sign of adversity. If any apparent double-teaming happens, rest assured it’s not a coordinated or planned event. JQ takes pride in being an equal opportunity server. If you’re red, you’re dead.
Sorry Noodles, respect is something earned, not demanded. It’s also as easily lost.
Translation: I don’t respect guilds who elect not to play on my server.
Oh, that’s not true at all. I have a ton of respect for many guilds that we face on a daily, weekly basis from other servers. There are some quality, top rate guilds that are an absolute blast to donate the occasional loot bag to.
Among other things that will earn or lose respect, though, is how people behave or respond to difficult situations. Some actions are worthy of respect, others can quickly cause respect previously earned to be lost.
I broke the quote thingie. Poo.

Please transfer to JQ to help keep T1 stable. I heard they were able to use some of their skills beside autoattack recently so the populations must be getting dangerously thin.
It’s true! I had an elite skill go off last night!
Of course… I don’t remember when I pressed it…
Actually, on a serious note, I don’t recall seeing much skill lag at all last night, even in some larger fights. I can’t say if that’s a numbers thing or in part due to Anet’s modifications, but the fact that I didn’t notice it is rather nice on reflection.
we need to stay focussed on that. Next week all servers start again with 0 points and then all SOR need to show again how good we are in comparrison to bg and jq
Unfortunately for Blackgate they will be blue which gets the most harass in EBG. With Sanctum of Rall wanting to hold onto green spot and Jade Quarry only finishing 20k points behind 2nd with 0 map presence, ill predict a lot of opportunist 2 vs. 1 play next week.
Show me one week, any week at all, that didn’t have opportunistic 2 vs 1 play.
Well, there were people in JQ complaining about being green all the time and it being boring. So, this week we’re getting a taste of blue, next week a good possibility of red. Personally, I kind of miss green (being blue confused the crap out of me for a long time), so I think it’s well beyond time to begin pushing our way back up the ladder.
Last thing I heard is that Atrox from EU Riverside will jump to JQ.
But maybe that is told by the same guy who said Waha would leave.Or maybe I’m just trolling and misspelled the guild name? I shouldn’t post into the forums while having a fever.
That would be great news indeed, I’d love to have them along and anyone else looking to become part of a great, successful core of guilds that have a lot of pride in the server we’ve help build over these many months.
JQ is sitting at Very High more often than not folks, this is a chance, if you want it, to become something larger than just yourself or your guild. We all know how important a good, quality guild is, but when you have many working together for a larger cause and doing so in a fun, productive manner is a beauty thing to see.
Oh, let me be clear on one thing. We don’t want or need guilds looking to be carried to the top. If that’s your goal, please consider elsewhere. We need guilds willing to work besides and with us as we fight our way back up together. We will carry our share of the load and expect those that join us to do their best to do the same. What I can promise, though, is one helluva fun ride.

This thread is getting interesting.
We have ppl saying BG is dead, JQ is dead and then we have DB folk hijacking the thread.
PS. Waha is not moving from JQ. And yes he is in [ATM]
The problem isn’t DB highjacking the thread, it’s DB actively trying to recruit JQ guilds away and then deliberately trying to sabotage our own recruitment efforts. When you consider how pathetic that really is you have to hope people can see beyond the sunshine DB is blowing up their butts to the real types of people they are.
I wonder how many and what kind of materials a server could donate to a central fund in order to have that sucker stuffed and mounted on display somewhere? A nice monument to our past triumph.
OK, that is sweet. Nice job!
Thanks everyone, I’m taking notes!
Here ya go. Break time, 8:20 PM PST Score Update.
If I may, to the EMP folks I tagged along with this evening in JQBL, it was an absolute pleasure. THAT was how the BLs should feel! Well done indeed all!
Its an end of an era, JQ getting their a*s whooped
Us getting our butts whooped is an era I’m happy to see come to an end. Thanks for your support Tray, we’re not going to let you down. JQ will recover from this brief lull.
Hey Volkon,
unfortunately we do not have a way to promote events like this in game. What we have done in the past is that we promoted player run events through the forums and our social media channel, and the guild/group of people organising the event spread the word on the world they were running it on.
As others have suggested, creating a forum post about the event is also a good way to get eyeballs on it.
Thanks for the reply Martin. When we get this rolling I may subtly ask (read: throw a temper tantrum) for a facebook mention or something if that’s possible. Much appreciated!
Ok it’s poetry corner in the WvW thread some of these are hilarious. Keep em goin :P
How about a haiku?

Quarrians of the Jade!
If you’d be so kind as to pop over to the JQ server forums there’s a post with an idea I’d like to share with you all.
I need a means to get the word out server-wide of a potential player generated event. Some means of getting the word out to as many people as possible. How, I don’t know. A big billboard in Lion’s Arch? A mass-mailing? A dolyak with signs hanging off him, horns on his head and fireworks shooting out his… hey, what’s that skritt up to… sorry, where was I? Ah yes. The mass dissemination of information. It can be reviewed by you all prior to going out (spam prevention of course) if requested… what do you have available? Anything? Ideas at least?
Sincerely, your favorite mesmer:
Volkon.
I worry about an expansion spreading the player base out too thin. So how could you do an expansion that maintains player density?
You still cant interact with most siege asura in keeps.. you click to talk and they just turn around and don’t open the trade window.
The way people make fun of Asura… are you really surprised?
Gambling? Really? Here’s the legal definition of gambling.
“A person engages in gambling if he stakes or risks something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance or a future contingent event not under his control or influence, upon an agreement or understanding that he or someone else will receive something of value in the event of a certain outcome. Gambling does not include bona fide business transactions valid under the law of contracts, such as the purchase or sale at a future date of securities or commodities, contracts of indemnity or guaranty and life, health or accident insurance.”
The items received have no actual value. You’re not putting anything at stake or risking anything of value, you’re making a purchase of an item. Anyone trying to claim that this is some form of gambling needs to hush and take a good look at reality.
You need to motivate your servers community to get into WvW. SoR has an amazing community and we assign every guild we know off to a borderland at reset night (apart from Ace he solos SoR-BL for us).
__________________________________________________________________But PvE pays better and sPvP/tPvP is more actual pvp against more skilled opponents in a more controlled environment so what do we tell people?
It’s fun. That’s a good place to start.
So you want us to lie?
If you think it’s a lie, perhaps you should be off doing something else instead of getting in the way of people trying to actually help.
Aww that’s cute.
BG says we’re just like them, JQ confirms this as proof <3Sure, we offered em a small heard of cattle and the hand of our firstborn daughter in matrimony.. Feel better now?
God forbid someone finds a better way to do something! That’s why the turtle is still the dominant meta.Wait a minute, you offered an audio recording of cows and disfigured your daughters and that got people to join?
We’ve been doing it wrong.
I must’ve laughed for a good minute after reading that man, well done and ty.
Oh gods… you’re offering only the hand for matrimony… I can think of only one use… I feel ill. I need to sit down.
It’s fun. That’s a good place to start.
So are PvE and sPvP/tPvP.
Well yes, of course they are. The idea you need to convey is that WvW is a whole level of fun they’ve yet to experience in addition to the content they already enjoy. There are huge amounts of this game that many people have yet to set foot in and experience. I probably shouldn’t help BlackGate scum like this (I kid of course), but have you considered inviting people in L.A. who may be interested into a guest slot in your guild for an evening of seeing what WvW is like in an organized guild setting? That’s what hooked me… joining FIRE and experiencing WvW in that fashion. It was a fun side thing before, that made it an addiction. Just a thought.
