@Behellagh You are assuming everyone is living in your country.
I’m not against anything, BUT, a COMPANY should never make releases like this.
Yes, devs can have their own opinions on their personal Facebook page or Twitter, but not on the oficial company one. It’s just something you don’t do if you care about the image of your company.
What if someone is muslim? Their religion does not allow gay marriage and it’s a serious offense. You praise equality in your EULA and yet you kitten all over other religions or other cultures with this tweet.
Think about the consequences for once Anet…
They could leave story sections out. And I’m refering to test servers for general patches, not for expansions. Once an expansion is out, then update the test servers for it aswell.
WoW has PTR servers for years now, and yes, it won’t magically fix everything, but there’s a lot of usefull things Anet could get from them, having 10-20 guys doing QA is not enough for a MMO of this scale. That is if they will be willing to listen to the players’ feedback from PTR.
48% crit chance after downscale, not a single crit on Behe as an ele. Please fix this.
And no, having a crit spot on his butt or w/e doesn’t count as a “fix”.
Behe is still easy, no mistake in that, but this is not about how easy the boss is but about the patch notes, either remove the “can be critted” or fix it.
Given the fact that he is standing still when taking the screenshots and looking at CPU usage I doubt it’s a case of model/texture loading. And even if that was the case, the HDD and GPU would be stressed not CPU. Also it’s not like the HDD got insanely fragmented over night since he says it happened after the patch and was all ok before.
Defrag is only useful for load times, won’t have any performance gains at runtime.
Do you get the problem just in LA or in any other zone?
The new LA has those palm trees with big leaves that are moving and hog the CPU pretty bad, my 4790K goes to 95% on one core when I face those trees/bushes.
Yeah, I kno nuffin like Jon Snow. That’s why the MTR logs show no packet drops and a steady connection but the game still disconnects out of the blue.
I’m not saying I’m getting them 24/7, I think I had around 10-15 so far in the past year, but that’s not acceptable for an AAA game, especially since you get removed from the original map which ruins my gameplay completely. This is in EU btw, which had problems with the connections for a long time now, just search the forums.
Just in the last 10 days:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Constant-random-disconnects-lately
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Terrible-latency-issues-only-with-GW2

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/About-disconnects
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Constant-disconnections-3
So yeah…
Just because you don’t have problems doesn’t mean no one has, different locations take different packet routes to reach the servers. I for example never had frame rate problems in Dry Top or SW like others had, but I won’t go saying there’s no such problem and Anet shouldn’t address it just because I don’t have any issue.

Hey ANET, so I was thinking, instead of a character slot or silly skins, how about you offer your players freaking working servers! There’s more than 3 years after release and players still get random disconnects out of the blue!
- 95% VW, bam DC!
- 2 mins until Teq, bam DC!
- 10 secs until Teq dies, bam DC!
- almost completed a hard kitten story achiev, bam DC!
And no, it’s not my PC or my internet connection. Played WoW for years, Battlefield, GTA 5, etc without a single connection problem., it’s always GW2 that kitten s. And it wouldn’t be that big of an issue if the “smart” megaserver system wouldn’t change the map instance after relog.
Sorry for the rage, but this is unacceptable for a MMO in 2015.
First time I joined SW after patch the red breach boss died in under 30 secs, I’m not joking, it literally melted. And the rest of the bosses took around the same time, I think indigo took the most at around 60 secs. There is no excuse to fail the breach or VW now.
Same for Tequatl, died with 10:13 mins to spare.
Imo stuff needs to be balanced when it comes to these events, haven’t tried the rest.
Thanks for the explanations. Another reason why I can’t take hardcore pve/pvp seriously in this game. So many things hidden and unnecessary, makes theorycrafting a pita.
Oh well, still enjoying the game atleast. Thanks again.
So Lava Font by default has a 4sec cooldown and a duration of 4sec. Theoretically you could chain up one after another, but for some reason the cooldown only starts ticking after 2sec after you cast it, so you’re left with a 2 secs gap unless you pick up Persisting Flames. There’s no cast time in the tooltip either.
Is that an intended mechanic or a bug?
Video explains everything, looks like the same stuff with the sand in the old LA in some places: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w58e1xiA7pI

For a casual player without a guild, not interested in pvp and with a legendary,
the features below do not appeal to me all:
- Precursor crafting
- guild halls concept
- 2 guild hall maps (probably to be increased in the future)
- new guild armor and weapons
- GvG Arena including a leaderboard
- Dueling
- Housing + Customisation
- Guild Action perks for WvWvW
- Complete overhaul of the influence system catering to smaller and bigger guilds alike
- (challenging group content)
- new PVP mode stronghold
- new WvWvW area complete overhaul of the mechanics
- new siege equipment
I’m only interested in:
- a new class with 60+ skills
- Specialisation mechanic (to be increased in the future) — will be in base game btw
- 9 new specialisation with 11 new skills each (99)
- 9 new traitlines with 12 traits each (108)
- New weapon and armor skins for each specialisation
- a map that is designed to hold the content of 3
- 7 new Masteries with several new abilities (flying being one of them)
- 2 new crafting professions
Now convince me to pay 50$ just for what it suits my gameplay.
If you watched the whole video from WP you would see that he is actually critical about Anet’s policy regarding all this fiasco. I don’t know where all the “he’s biased” comes from.
All he said was he is a major GW nerd and he would buy the expansion no matter the price, but the rest of the players should wait until more details about the expansion are revealed.
WP actually has a very objective opinion and reasons in that video.
Oh my bad, misunderstood. My prediction is never, because I don’t think they know what to say or that it would even matter. If they didn’t address the issues in the first 24-48h then I don’t think they’ll ever do.
They can’t do anything about the prices now, or even add bonus features since they have the Deluxe Edition already. What’s done is done. All they can do is apologise, but doubt they will do it since it wouldn’t even matter to players now.

I think the big issue at hand is that simply put, the content in HoT to our knowledge thus far isn’t worth the $50.00.
This.

Being a Blizzard advocate here (jeez!) for the first time in years.
I agree, I’ve been bashing WoW and Blizzard for some time now and tried to defend GW2, but lately it seems Anet is shooting itself in the foot with numerous bad decisions.
I’m that close to renew my sub for WoW.

People are having ridiculous expectations and it bothers me.
People are having big expectations for 50$ and it makes sense.
Fixed it for you.
If you don’t think it’s worth 50$then wait for more information about the expansion. I trust Anet so i will buy this expansion in a few days. I don’t feel like i should deserve more than someone who will buy it at release.
My 20 year old car is not worth as much as a new car, that’s a fact. The same applies to games. If i buy WoW and all it’s expansions today, i wont pay as much as someone who bought it on release, i don’t kitten and moan about that.
I agree with this, even tho I will not buy the expansion. And that’s simply because it’s not worth 50$ yet. We don’t even have a release date for it.
If you wish to purchase the core game alone, you can do so here: http://buy.guildwars2.com/store/gw2/en_US/html/pbPage.heartofthorns?cid=42:5::::Global:174:1021288d1032231853a7cde8ef4e6b:34
(Bog Otter’s linked Official Store site)
Just click the shopping cart without choosing a HoT bundle. Good luck.
You have an empty cart if you don’t buy a HoT bundle.
I spent over 400$ on gemstore so far, but I will not pre-purchase or buy the expansion. Not until they show me that the expansion is really worth 50$, cause it’s definitely not worth it now.
Most likely I’m gonna wait for reviews first and buy it when it gets on sale. That is if it doesn’t get destroyed by the reviews.

It’s not about the price. It’s a about the price for the amount of content, also known as value for your money. And from what they’ve shown so far I would be willing to give them 15$ maximum.
All good and well, except the fact that you can’t buy vanilla GW2 anymore. So HoT is the base game now, not an expansion.
I bound F1-F4 to Q, E, R, F and utility skills to ALT + Q, R, E ,F . Side mouse buttons for dodge, heal, weapon sheathe, weapon swap. Use/Interact is bound to X / MMB .
As a side note, there are no overflow maps for a year now since the megaservers system was implemented, just different instances.
Myself I hope Anet gets mad and puts 10 TT type events in HoT, each having 10 Liadris riding zombie dragons and one shotting anyone who doesn’t dodge and the only way to to finish the events will be to have 100 players coordinate at once, if just 1 player dies then the boss kills everyone and can’t be killed for another week. And the more times the event fails the more powerful the bosses become, ending up requiring 1000 players to be killed.
Maybe then topics like this will stop. Go do dungeons without abusing the mechanics and stacking in a corner if you want challenging content until then.
Not sure if this NPC was introduced with the rebuilding of LA, but near the BL NPCs there’s a char who’s smashing some rocks but if you look closely he has no mining pick equipped. Unless he’s pretending he’s working, then I’ll totally understand.
I know it’s a very minor thing to complain about but it drives me crazy every time I see it
Why is this topic still active…
MMOs make money from expansions, just as single player games make money from sequels and DLCs.
You got what you payed for, if you want more then pay more.

Bump. Still bugged.
I see a pattern in these forum threads.
You’ll have better luck here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor
They are there mostly to save your mouse a billion clicks.
Tho they are used in some other recipes aswell, I think the recent backpiece from the chinese new year required some luck essences to craft.
The 2500k is better for gaming, especially if you OC.
The Witcher 3 is coming out in a week, you could play that meanwhile.
Is that the official Anet statement?
There will always be a meta. Period.
You nerf the zerk armor and then another set takes the meta place. It’s like this in every MMO, hardcore players will always find an optimal build/gear to clear the PvE content.
PvP is a different matter, but even there you have gear metas like celestial or w.e for some professions.
The problem with GW2 is that there’s no holy trinity, and so gear sets with +heal or +toughness are not that appealing in a system where even the rewards are given based on how much damage you do (bronze, silver, gold).

Killing the boar in the old Queensdale train, oh the memories….
Supporting this, can’t remember how many times I had the freakin cursor dissapear and had to shake the mouse to get it back on screen. Always happening with AoE ground targeting.
What’s optimal for others doesn’t mean it will be optimal for you, I suggest trying both D/D and staff for a few levels and see which one you feel more comfortable with.
“Sandwichmancer” ~WP
We can rename it, The Dragon’s Jaw and make it a line of Dragon’s Teeth.
#gw2DLCconfirmed
Each crafting proffesion gives you 6-7 levels from 1-400, and costs around 10-15g each, so it’s easy levels but won’t get you to 1-80. Don’t bother doing 400-500 unless you’re planning to craft ascendent gear.
IMO you need at least 6 points in fire and power/crit gear to make staff work, staff is more of a “kill the enemy before he gets a chance to retaliates” spec.
I would suggest going 0/0/2/6/6 (start putting points from the bottom up) D/D while leveling and switch to staff at 80 if you want, you have much more mobility and survivability as D/D. Plus is way more fun, staff is boring in comparison.

I’m an experienced programmer and know enough to not speak in absolutes. Conceptually it may seem straight forward to do what you’re describing, but unless you have intimate knowledge of their systems and codebase, you really have no idea how big of an undertaking it would be for them.
I’m not asking for them to change core game mechanics or god knows what, like supporting DX11 or proper MT, it’s just a matter of keeping a session active for a couple of minutes before dropping it alltogether and restore it if the player re-establishes a socket connection.
